[attr="class","xenica"]It would take the party a while to locate the rendezvous point, but they would have been able to do so by following the coordinates that had been pinged to their Digivices. They would find themselves in a dreary town in the middle of the forest. All of the buildings were a gloomy dark brown, crafted of wood, and half of them falling apart. They were from another era, being Victorian in design. Most of the trees in the actual town were dead and void of any foliage, and the sky was eternally cloaked in an blood orange color, despite it just being daylight a few steps earlier in the timberlands. They were to meet at an old church just outside of the town, one that had long stopped being used. The doors of the building were blown clean off by some sort of creature, as claw marks were quite prominently displayed upon the rest of the building. There was nothing but a few decrepit pews and an old podium left in the once holy ground, the gold and paintings being for the most part, worn or stripped away. A dark haired teenager, the current leader of Hakainushi, waited at one of these pews, a small television set sitting next to her. She wasn't going to be a part of this mission, but she wanted to at least brief her comrades before they took on this task. It was probably a little weird to just get a message from some guythey never met before, so she planned on explaining that. Still, these numbskulls could hurry up. She had already been there for a half hour, did they get lost? At the top of the steeple, outside the building, a feminine angel dressed in white and pink sat perched like a gargoyle, keeping an eye out for both the party, and anything that might disrupt them. GOAL: Meet up with Xenica inside the old church. There was plenty of reason for Akari to be somewhat wary of their surroundings… The way the sky was tinged a mandarin-red twilight compared to the more temperament locales of the timberlands signified this place was far different from other nearby coordinates.
The girl and her partner were riding on the back of a Devidramon; the demonic draconian soon landing by the church in the seemingly-abandoned town. Even as the pair climbed off the Champion level, the fiend seemed to catch a glance of the angel perched on the church; they letting out a feral growl even just staring at them.
”I didn’t pay you to bark at shit. I paid you to get me somewhere.” the blonde snapped at the beast, scowling with a fierce glare that seemed to pacify the demon. Letting out one last gruff bestial-sound, the Devidramon took back into the air… sensing already that this place had a dangerous vibe.
”He seemed grumpy…” the Flitmon by Akari’s side mumbled, not wasting time following the girl as Akari stepped over some of the rubble to the church, gazing at her friend and fellow cohort.
”Xen. Hope you can enlighten me why I got a call from a certain mystery man…” Akari solemnly spoke, soon taking a seat in one of the empty benches as she leaned carefully back. She remembered the message from the cloaked figure… an ominous set of riddles that led her to this place, to fulfill a mission that would prove most vital to Hakainushi’s renewed budding. The question was… who, and why?

There were several things wrong with today. Mao had overslept, for one. But that was seriously unimportant compared to the crap going on right this minute. This part of the Timberlands shouldn't be having a blood-red sky, that was something you'd normally see in the Dark Area.
Nonetheless, Mao had reached the coordinates. Liberal usage of her Vemmon form's teleportation ability had proven all the more effective in covering ground. She had some questions to ask those gathered here, like who the hell was the mystery man and how the fuck did he get her number? The Vemmon became enveloped in a violet light before it was replaced with Mao herself, who gave a glance up to the angel before she entered to find Akari and Xenica.
"Hey. Sorry if I'm late--the directions...were a bit unclear. Can any of you explain why I got that call?" She was trying to be polite. "...Aside from that, what's on the itinerary for today?" The girl inquired, glancing to the tv set by Xenica. There had to be some reason for this--especially with the whole Hakainushi business...

[attr="class","xenica"]" I'm glad you both were able to make it." Xenica greeted both Akari and Mao at the same time, as they entered the forgotten church. It was about time they showed up, any longer, and she would have to do this herself. No, she couldn't do that - this entire scheme relied on trusting each other and getting through all this together. " I know, this place ain't easy to find. Kinda creepy, too." The dark haired teen glanced to the window, swearing she had seen something rush past it. " Not like I'm scared, though. I'm bigger and badder than anything out there - and you guys are, too." The leader got up from her seat, taking the small television set along with her. The others would be familiar with this technology, it was the same kind that brought them the message that told them to come to this place. " This guy used to lead a gang just like ours way back. He almost took over the entire Digital World, too. Do I trust him? Nah, but he seems to know what he's doing, so let's ride this out for a bit longer." Xenica pressed a couple buttons on the machine, but it didn't seem to do anything at first. She really didn't know how to operate all of this Hakainushi technology yet - a lot of it seemed to be a lot crappier than it was made out to be. Just as the crimson eyed delinquent let out a sigh and prepared to explain the mission herself, the television came to life, a similar image displaying as before. It was that of a shadowy figure, facial details obscured, and voice cloaked by masking technology. " Ladies...and....well, I guess there's only ladies here, right? This is really different, that's for sure. Do you any of you have any single mothers?" Xenica gave the screen an infuriated expression, prompting the shadow man to scratch the back of his head and continue on with his instructions. " Right. You're all wondering why you're here. I know that already. You're also wondering how I know who you all are. That last part doesn't matter. What matters is now, and what you have to do here." The man finally began to take on a more serious tone, saving the crappy jokes for his old half-mechanical assistant. " First off, let's make this clear. I'm not giving any of you orders - if you don't want to do this, you can just leave. This is all simply suggestion." The man stared directly into the camera, and then at each teenager present, as if he was somehow able to know exactly where they were standing. " I'm sure you have heard about Digimon Spirits. There exists eight Spirits in this world that are exceptionally stronger than others. Finding them is not an easy task - they were scattered long ago throughout the Digital World, and then sealed within the earth using powerful runes." The man paused for a moment, to take a breath. " You may have guessed it by now - one of these ancient Digimon Spirits exists within this area. And fortunately, it has already been removed from its seal. Unfortunately, that means somebody has seized it for themselves." The screen already began to flicker off, despite the man not being finished yet. " Obtain this Spirit and I will grant you further instructions. If you follow my suggestions, you all will become more powerful than you could have ever dreamed." With that, the screen went black. " So, did you get all of that? A buncha bullshit, but hell, it really gets me excited! It sounds like with these, we can be the strongest gang in the Digital World!" Xenica was sincerely excited about the power of these Spirits, especially since she was planning to go after one of her own after this briefing. She fixed her hair and jacket, preparing to move out and leave Mao and Akari behind to finish this mission. " Any questions? I'm going after one of these myself, so I'm not just gonna let you two have all the fun here." GOAL: Complete the briefing and begin to head outside. Akari breathed in a little, catching her breath as finally they got to talking. "Eh, its not that scary... Blood-red sun? Abandoned chapel? Too stereotypical, really." the girl ended up musing. At this point, she has seen far scarier than some mucked up church... Xenica for one thing. Hell, even Mao was more terrifying these days... even if she had to disgress that she herself was not much compared to either Spirit Wielder.
Finally though... some clarification who this mystery man was. A former thug of the Digital World? Yeah, Akari wasn't even going to hide that she was iffy about that... but least Xen was as well. They all have learned their lesson it seems with who they can put their trust into these days... but as long as it was an ends to a means, she could live with it.
For now.
As patient as she was, even Akari too frowned somewhat at the mystery man's rather odd manner of setting up the atmosphere... Like her mother would stoop that low. Still, the mood soon became less whimsical as the true nature of this meeting was brought into focus. Spirits. Much like the ones Xenica and Mao had, but far more deadly it appeared. Regardless, there was the carrot on the stick... now was just a matter of following the lead and claiming it for their own. As the screen went dark, the girl shook her head... the nature of this gang becoming more complex then she originally anticipated. "Good grief... its never that easy, is it?" she ended up musing, the idea of a wild goosechase being fairly... undesirable in her eyes.
"It does sounds like serious business though... why are these spirits sealed in the first place? Who else would need them?" Helvetica additionally added on, dwelling on the nature of this quest of theirs. If someone did take the spirit they are looking for, then it sounded like this could get kinda dangerous pretty quick.
"Well, there is only one thing to do... find who took it and kick their ass." the lone tamer spoke, glancing at Xenica. "Do you have any leads I suppose...? Hate to burden ya like that, but the more information we can get towards finding this spirit... the better." she ended up inquiring, though her expression grew more solemn at the mention of Xencia soon heading out for another one of these spirits. "... Be safe, Xen."

"I've fought monkeys, dragons and mummies, so there's probably not much that can terrify me out there anymore." Mao shrugged. There was a bigger fish to address. "...Okay, are you absolutely sure all of what you said is true? Because that's a gigantic boast. I'm not doubting it, but...still."
The trio were all iffy on this. That much was certain. The mystery man's comment drew a glare from Mao before the true purpose of why they were here was revealed. Spirits. Like the totems she wielded but...This one was different. Stronger than most. She remained silent for the briefing, and when it ended, spared Xen a nod.
"I had one but Akari stole the words out of my mouth. Hm...Actually, any idea about the layout of the surrounding area? Where could someone shove a spirit like how that guy described...Plus, from what I'm told? They're sealed because otherwise they'd cause a shitton of trouble for everyone. And Digimon -are- capable of using spirits too..."
Oh. And one more thing. "Good luck, Xen."

[attr="class","xenica"]Mao and Akari were a bit iffy about this mission, as they should be, really. There were a lot of known unknowns in this particular scenario, but the promise of power was too great to ignore. " Thanks, I'm sure I won't need too much luck, though." Soon she would be heading out, but first, it wouldn't hurt to address their concerns and let them know what she had actually found out while hanging out in this area. " Before I do leave, though, I spent some time like, hanging around here before y'all finally decided to show up." Xenica would open the wooden doors of the chapel, walking outside into thw gloomy atmosphere, motioning the other three to follow her. " This place is cursed, man. Any sucker you talk to here is just gonna moan about how much their life sucks. You ain't gonna get no information from nobody here." Really, talking to people around here wouldn't get anybody very far. This curse really seemed to prevent Digimon from caring about anything. " Anyways, I'm heading out before someone else jacks that Spirit. I got somebody that might be able to help you all out a bit during this." With her words, the angelic being watching from the steeple descended to the ground, but refused to stand, instead hovering a couple inches above the grass - allowing her to be a few feet higher than the human girls. " This is Lucida. She's been helping me out. I hope y'all get along." With introductions out of the way, the short teenager climbed on a nearby motorcycle, one that was parked on the side of the church. Despite not being old enough to drive, she had no problem starting it up, then covering her face with a crimson red helmet. " Good luck!" The girl yelled out over the roar of the engine, then revving it up a couple times, before riding off into the red sun, and out of view. " Look, losers. I'm not following your orders. So, get that out of your heads right now." The angel crossed her arms, looking over the party of three and ultimately being fairly unimpressed with them. Two humans...and what was that? The Angewomon turned her attention to the Filtmon, noticing something familiar about her. " Oh, and what's this here? Did you finally decide to hatch? Ha! That's funny, I guess I was wrong. I thought your egg would've been more useful as an omelette." The angel smiled, bringing a hand to her chin in amusement. " I didn't expect to laugh today...because of that, I'm gonna tell you: the curse upon this place isn't in full effect yet. Not all the Digimon in this area are afflicted by it yet. If we hurry, we may be able to find somebody who knows more." But they better hurry, as the curse afflicted more and more Digimon every hour, and very soon, there wouldn't be any left. She had no leads on where to find these creatures, so she left it at that. GOAL: Find Digimon that are unafflicted by the curse. GOAL: Find the Spirit Fragment's location. It appeared though there was something foreboding going on in this area... well, more than normal it seemed. A case of countryside-wide depression? Well, sounded just like a typical day for Japan really, but there was something unnatural going on here. Nonetheless, if Xen was right then it didn't look like they were going to be getting much outside help. "Never easy, is it...?" the blonded muttered under her breath, though her attention was soon drawn to the Angewomon's presence as Xenica drove off.
Yeah, no. She didn't like them. They weren't even hiding their distaste for her and Mao... if it weren't for the fact that this was an Ultimate level they were dealing with, she'd have probably told them off for such.
It was Helvetica who ended up first speaking once more, specifically after Lucida's attention was directed to them. Did they know her...? Well, to say the least the Flitmon was intimidated... enough to shift behind Akari's leg somewhat timidly. "...? That doesn't seem like a really nice thing to say, miss Lucida."
No shit it wasn't a nice thing to say. She didn't know why this chick knew Helvetica, but she was not inclined to push the matter if she could help it right now... the angel was not exactly portraying herself as very angelic-like frankly. Still... they offered at least a dash of hope that perhaps they could get something out of the local populace if they were hasty. "Then no time to waste." Akari huffed before turning Mao. "Oy, four-eyes. Lets get going. We should head to where the villagers are, then split from there." she spoke, ready to ship out quickly.

"...Does this spirit cause depression or something?" Mao uttered aloud as Xen took her leave, before she took a look to the Angewomon. The general...way this gal carried herself was irritating. Mao drew a sharp bit of air through her nose. "Well, if that settles it then I suggest we should get moving."
It was going to be a long day today, definitely. So, they needed to move. She gave only a nod to Akari and stretched her arms a bit. "Good plan. Do me a favor and try not to die, and I'll try doing the same. We should meet up somewhere once we get enough information--if we can, before trying to find whoever has the spirit proper. Got it?"
