Broader Consequences [Toki]

It seemed the emotions had passed and the two of them were having a relatively relaxed conversation again. Toki sighed a bit in relief. "That sort of thing isn't always one sided. I'm sure he appreciates having you in his life." he said with a soft smile. "Bonds between human and Digimon...they're something special, aren't they? People may say that we should stay separated...but I honestly don't think that's the right answer. Our worlds are bridged for better or for worse. Ignoring it won't do anyone any good."
He nodded slightly "Mhm...I just hope wherever they are...they're happy right now. They deserve a chance to live peacefully. Even if it's only for a little while. I wonder what kind of Digimon they'll grow up to be this time...?" he said. He seemed hopeful with this question, optimistic for their future.
"Terminus, huh? I don't visit there that often, but I heard a lot goes on there. Whatever he's doing, I hope he's okay first and foremost." he said. Terminus was too crowded for his liking. As much as he loved meeting people, he didn't enjoy being crowded by people on all sides.
Same as before, Toki took a large amount of lumber under his arms "You don't have to apologize. It's yours and your friend's business. If you don't want to say much about it that's perfectly fine with me. Honestly, I respect what you're doing. Working here and doing your best to make a few bits. There's nothing wrong with that. Even if it's for the money, you're still helping out, right?"

"Oh, trust me, I know." Angel gave a smirk, and a slight shake of her head. "'Partnered' Digimon are very closely tied with their tamers, Toki. To us, that relationship between the worlds isn't just 'desirable', its 'critical'." A few days at a time, she was fine to do stuff like this - but if she was away from Denryu for an extended period of time, she'd start to feel the lack of energy.
In regards to Toki's hope for Cloak and Dagger, all Angel could really do was nod, and take Toki's feeling to heart. Her ear did twitch at the next part: "Really? That's where the portal is - I figured you'd at least pass through there occasionally." Well, maybe not. Digiports weren't exactly as uncommon as they used to be.
Thankfully, Toki respected her tamer's privacy, the Renamon giving a short nod to the Antylamon's comment. "It's work - honest work, too." And work that she didn't have to report identification for, nor likely run into anyone that would recognize her as Team Metal Drive's partner. She could just be another Renamon in the crowd, so long as she kept her nose down to the grind.
Dropping that second-to-last load off, the Renamon would lead her way down the hill, stretching out her back to work out a bit of stiffness. "Honestly, this has been nice. I don't really get a lot of chances to talk to people like this." Though it definitely helped that Angel was wearing a more presentable mask than usual, to do this sort of public work. "You might be a bit of a 'kind-hearted fool'... but honestly, that bit about you is charming. Just try and stay out of the limelight of all this, alright?"

Toki nodded "I wasn't really aware of how critical it was, honestly. I never have to worry about being separated from my spirit through vast distances. If I was a tamer, I'd probably fuss over my Digimon all day...don't know if that'd be a good or bad thing. Maybe both. Yeah, probably both. My spirit can talk to me, and sometimes to others too. He's been a great mentor and friend to me. With every totem, he gets closer to remembering who he was. And that's sort of been a major goal for me during my time here. I only have one more to go as far as I know. I've been traveling with a Digimon named Aylin for a long time, and she's helped out tremendously in finding them with me. I just hope we'll still be friends even after my spirit is completed."
"Well I usually use my digiport." he said at Angel's confusion over Toki's lack of time in Terminus. "I do visit from time to time, though usually the quieter, more peaceful areas of the city. Crowds usually make me feel uncomfortable."
"That's a good attitude. Honest work that helps out the local population. Nothing wrong with that at all." he said with a grin as they walked along to the last of the lumber. He picked up the last of his share.
Angel admitting that this time working together has been nice warmed Toki's heart. He didn't even care that she called him a kind-hearted fool "Hey, as long as the experience has been mostly positive, I don't mind being seen like that. I'm glad this has been nice for you. And I'll try not to. Others deserve their chances to tell their stories...and I'll admit I do need a break after everything lately."

"Oh, sure you do. I mean you might not be leaving a Digimon alone, but could you really say you've been without your spirit for more than five minutes since you got it?" Angel gave a shrug, and honestly, her words were more-or-less proven as Toki went on. The spirits and the totems sounded much like a teacher and a great friend to him, something that she'd heard from a few other spirit wielders as well. To be separated from that might make Toki more concerned than he might think.
She gave a nod at the comment of using a Digiport - she was familiar with the concept through Denryu, of course - and gave a sigh to the second part of what he said. "Tell me about it. 'Playing nice with others' is not one of the top things on my resume..." Even if she could be brought out for things like this, or even hit it off well enough with Toki.
Reaching the top of that hill once again, dropping the lumber off, Angel gave a thumbs up to Toki's comment. "Hey, thanks for giving me a hand with all this. Don't exactly know how I'd keep in touch with you, but I should be around here to pick up the odd job here and there. Maybe I can return the favor to ya at some point."

Toki put down the final set of lumber and reverted back to his human state. He stared at his digivice for a moment at Angel's words and contemplated what she had said. "I can't really imagine being without their company anymore. I...hm. That kind of gives me a bit to think about, honestly..." he said somberly.
He put it back in his coat pocket and went back to his usual, positive demeanor "Oh it's...not that I don't like dealing with people. I'm just kind of shy around big crowds of people I don't really know."
It seemed the work they were doing together was coming to an end since Angel brought up how they were going to keep in touch in case they needed to contact each other later. "Hm...let me see what I got." he dug around in his backpack and took out a notebook. He tore a page out from the back of it and wrote down contact information on it "You can take this and give it to your tamer in case either of you need me for anything. It's the least I can offer after today." Whether or not Angel accepted the paper was of course up to her.
"Hopefully all this lumber will be put to good use and get some repairs and housing underway. Honestly I should be thanking you for lending a hand. We all know the people here need it now more than ever after what happened." he said. He shrugged slightly at the offer to return the favor "If you'd like at some point, sure. I'm just glad to have helped out. Now, how about we go get payment for our work here today and be on our way? I appreciate the talk. You've definitely given me a lot of things to think about...it definitely brings things into perspective."

"You see?"
Angel couldn't help but give a chuckle at Toki's contemplative words, taking the moment to stretch out her arms as the work winded down. True, Toki definitely seemed more the 'friendly' type than the abrasive Renamon. "I get you, no worries." The image of the 'kind-hearted fool' held strong in the fox's head!
As Toki passed over that piece of paper, Angel gave a quick glance at it, before stowing it away inside her glove. "Sure, you'll get a message back from him with our own contact info. Sorry, its not something I really know off the top of my head..." Though part of the reason for that was for security purposes.
And of course this lumber would be helpful for rebuilding the place! "Heh, I guess - though its not like me to get dragged through the 'why' of everything. In this case, though, I'll take it." Her ear twitched as Toki spoke about picking up payment - huh, he wasn't just a volunteer? "Hm? Oh, sure - I just have to check in with the Cherrymon. Is that where you signed in?" Past that, she gave a small smirk, rolling her eyes slightly at Toki's contemplative tone.
"Sheesh... just take care of yourself, alright? S'not that hard to keep up with."

Toki smiled a bit "I volunteered, but they insisted I didn't work for free considering what I've been through. It would have been rude to say no to their offer, so I took it." Angel accepted the contact information "Alright! Sounds good, looking forward to hearing back from you two."
He chuckled at Angel's response about the lumber's use "Whatever it's used for it'll be for something good, that's all that's important to me." he said as he looked around. Cherrymon..."Hm, actually I accepted the work from someone managing the camps at the outskirts so I'll be heading that way. So I guess this is where we part ways for now."
He took a moment to stretch and catch his breath. At Angel's somewhat teasing remarks he scratched the back of his head "Heh, yeah I suppose you're right. I tend to overthink things a lot. You take care of yourself too, okay? Don't keep your tamer waiting too long. He might start to get worried."
With that he turned around "Well, see you later, Angel! Nice meeting you, and good work today." he started to walk down the road with his head held high, proud of the work the two of them have done today. What she had said did get him thinking. He's definitely a different person that he was before meeting his spirit. If something were to happen to it, what would happen to him? The thought kind of scared him, but since then he's also met a lot of great people who will help pull him out of any abyss he stumbles into. He just had to be strong.
