All things considered, this trip had been really enjoyable for Ooi. His interactions with Bero had been nothing short from hilarious, and a welcome break from her usual routine among sensitive humans; granted, the girl couldn't quite be herself, but at least compared to the usual, this was good enough.
Of course, by now there was pretty much a permanent smirk etched on her face. Bero's comments could only manage to amuse her even more. "Flattery won't get you anywhere, you know? Well, maybe on my good graces, but you are kinda there already."
It seemed like recurring to insults wouldn't work on Bero's side. Whether irritating or not, the teenager just shrugged them off, almost as if they were compliments, or maybe even better if that was possible. "I do agree on the fact that this trip has been a bit on the fruitless side, though. But, with any luck, maybe we'll be able to find something useful? For one, I truly think you need a bar of fireproof soap on your inventory. That would have made this journey a whole lot more pleasant."
Unsurprisingly, Bero had decided to contradict her choice regarding which path to take, and considering how his fiery coat was their only source of light, it seemed like the Gabumon had the final word whether she liked it or not. Fine enough; after a shrug, she went and followed the small digimon.
"Nah, it wasn't human intuition. I agree with you there; humans tend to make very poor choices when it comes to staying alive. I kinda decided on it in a whim. Wasn't hard to guess that you'd want to go the other way, though. You're just like that; that's why we're such a good pair of friends!"
That last sentence tone might've been a bit too chipper. Oh well, at least it seemed like the two were well on their way, and that at least one of them had found what he had been looking for. "The life and work of a digimon who lived long, long ago, huh? It seems like a terrible darkness plagued the land, and this one digimon wanted to end it for good. His life's call; his destiny."
After a small pause, a short yet entertained giggle erupted from her mouth. "That sounds like a mountain of crap, if you ask me. Why are you interested in this kind of stuff? Seems pretty pointless."
All in all, Ooi was a pretty mercurial being and Bero had proven that, ultimately, he wasn't a very entertaining individual. Considering that she didn't need his help to find what she was set to look for in the temple, she just decided to take a different path than his as soon as the opportunity arose.
Time for games was over; guess it was time to find whatever she had been sent to find in this place.
