The human world was said to be quite the scary place for one such as Mae. Especially nowadays, if what she had heard was actually true. But did the looming threat of (what was apparently) the government stop Mae from frequenting places she enjoyed in this world? No, no it did not. The disguised Digimon actually quite preferred sticking to libraries. They were silent, and held tales she wouldn't really find elsewhere. Tales of old, strikingly mundane people doing great things. Or seeking revenge in the case of the Count of Monte Cristo. Mae did not come to the library she was visiting right now to read that, however. This time she was seeking tales she hadn't read yet. Fiction or otherwise, she was coming through an aisle, the silence (aside from the occasional footsteps on the wood floor) allowing her to focus almost entirely on this task. ...Nobody would question what a tan girl with white hair was doing here, right? Hopefully not. Hopefully nobody would bump into her, either. That'd actually be inconvenient. Mae swiftly picked out three books before she began to move out to find a place to sit. Viktoriya

It wasn't the first time that she had been exposed to a library as having a spacious library inside her own home helped to alleviate the loneliness inside the estate. After her classes at the high school ended, she figured that she might want some alone time here at the local library. Viktoriya carried Vera in her arms, assuming that Vera wasn't able to move without limbs or she would have to hop with her. Besides, what could be better than reading old mystery novels right inside Shibuya's own library of tales of yore and the fantasy stories that people found to be interesting? [break][break]
As soon as she had stopped by an aisle that labelled itself as the "mystery" genre, the girl decided to stop by and see if there were any books that pertained to the Golden Age of Detective Fiction. "You won't mind teaching me what is it about detective fiction that you like so much right, Viktoriya?" Vera asked as she gazed at the numerous titles in Japanese. Viktoriya responded to the pink bulb-like Digimon with a nod. "I'll show you some of my favorites, yes." [break][break]
The girl had to set Vera down before picking out her favorite books before finding a place to sit along with Vera hopping after her. However, she didn't expect someone else to be looking for a place to sit as she had momentarily bumped into her. The books that she was carrying were dropped to the floor before the young lady apologized to the other woman. "Ah, s-sorry... I didn't see where I was going. Please forgive me."

It was but a moment, but as Mae had learned in the past, moments, quick as they were, were all it took to send something spiraling down. In this case, it was her trio of books. The perpetrator was a little less insidious than one might think. And by that, the truth of the matter was that this was a simple accident.
Sure, Mae ended up stumbling back and dropping her books, but she didn't fault the young lady for that. "I-It's alright. I feel as though I'm equally at fault here, eheh..." She quickly went to gather her books, as well as help Viktoriya gather her own novels. If she was allowed to, of course. It was only when she had gathered her own books up that she finally caught note of a...
....Was that a Yokomon? Next to the pale lady? "Ah, um...What is that?" Mae pointed at Vera. Obviously, she herself knew what it was, but...Was she actually seeing this?

The girl began to pick up her books and didn't mind the other woman helping her when the tanned lady asked what kind of Digimon was that. Vera decided to answer the question, so Viktoriya could focus on getting her bearings together. "I'm a Pyocomon, it's nice to meet you!" With enough time, the teenage girl gathered all of the books that she had dropped and stood up to her feet with her own eyes meeting the lady's red ones. Something interesting on the titles of the books that the lady dropped caught her eye and they were very familiar titles she had seen in the estate's library.[break][break]
She noticed that the books that the woman gathered herself were old titles as some were taught back at the private schools she used to attend. "I see you really like old books, right? I loved reading old books back home, especially the mystery novels from the Golden Age of Detective Fiction." It was incredible luck to run into someone who had a great love for much older books than the books written in a modern perspective. She hadn't realized that she was just nerding out with the love of mystery novels, but the lady she had just met probably wouldn't mind?

Mae gulped. Okay, she wasn't going crazy. She wasn't hallucinating. That was genuinely another Digimon in the middle of the library. This...was unexpected. Entirely so. "It's nice to meet you too." She replied towards Vera, a smile forming on her face. How exactly could she...break it to this little pink ball that she should probably be hidden in some shape or form...?
That quick stream of thoughts was halted by Viki addressing her. The red-eyed girl gave her a nod. "Mmhmm! Reading through old books is a pastime I can find myself getting lost in for hours. Though, I'll admit that I've been wanting to get into more detective novels as of late." Back home...So was she not from here? "Which is your favorite, out of curiosity?"

The tanned woman asked what book was her favorite, Viktoriya responded to her question. "My favorite has to be Agatha Christie's novels. The book that my mother gave me was called And Then There were None which is my absolute favorite. Murder on the Orient Express seems to be a close second." It was the first book that she had been exposed to in her childhood and one that she held in a very sentimental way. Vera seemed to be a bit confused on why that lady looked like she was concerned for her, but she would have to see what was up. [break][break]
She returned the question back at the tanned lady. "Which book is your favorite if you don't mind me asking?" As a fellow old book lover, she might as well get to know what kind of tastes the red-eyed tan looking woman had. She was so engrossed into the conversation that she forgot to introduce herself properly to the woman. Since she might go a bit far into the conversation and not have enough time, she might as well give her name as well. "In any case, My name is Viktoriya Romanova, a pleasure to meet you."

Mae nodded her head at Viktoriya's response to her question. "I've been meaning to read some of her work but I can't...quite find the time, sadly...I do like Orient Express, though. Interesting premise!" That was the one where the lead finds out that the titular murder was a conspiracy by everyone on the train, wasn't it?
Now, her own favorite book? That was a very simple question to answer. "The Count of Monte Cristo. I...am unsure what it says about me that it's my favorite, but it simply is. I think there's a lot to learn from it, even today. Especially with the big message about how hollow vengeance can be." Her name was Romanova? Like the...royal family from Russia? "Interesting surname...Any relation to the Tsar?" She inquired, before Mae realized she had forgotten to introduce herself.
"My name's Mae. It's nice to meet you, Ms. Romanova. As well as your...friend." Mae...refrained from bowing. She had books in hand, so she just dipped her head a bit. "Does she have a name?"

When the tanned woman mentioned that the Count of Monte Cristo was her favorite book, the white-haired girl smiled. "The Count of Monte Cristo was a book that my class had to read for the curriculum, I thought it was a great book to read myself and it's one of my father's favorites too." It did help that her class really had a good selection of books to read for the literature class' own leisure with old classics and the modern books that remade the old books. Besides reading the Agatha Christie novels, there was the ever familiar Sherlock Holmes stories that many people across the world had known about.[break][break]
Regarding the woman's inquiry, she answered with the utmost certainty. "I have relations to the Tsar through my father's side of the family and my father himself." Finally, lady introduced herself as Mae as she returned the greeting though she did ask who was the bulb Digimon's name. Maybe the bulb Digimon didn't have a problem of showing her form outside of the Digital World though there might be some concerns for normal humans to see something like this. "Her name is Vera and she's been my faithful companion ever since I had first stepped inside the Digital World."

Wait a moment, schools made people read her favorite book for their curriculum? Mae found herself graced by the brightest smile she had ever put on today. "That's wonderful to hear--good on the school for that." Nevermind that, though, Mae quickly learned she was talking to royalty! Or, the descendent of some royalty, at the very least.
"I've never met someone with ties to a royal family before...Suppose I can check that off the list I don't keep." The lady replied, chuckling some before she turned her attention to the Yokomon as Viki explained who she was. Vera was her name, and...this was a tamer. They gave that information out with no amount of uncertainty.
...Perhaps she should repay that honesty in kind. "Heh, that's cute. Um..." Mae lowered her voice some. "Don't tell anyone this, but I'm from there. This might sound really strange but I'm not actually a human. I'm just like Vera." What a revelation to just give out to someone you just met, huh? "Don't want to cause a stir at the library by being a freaky jellyfish, you know?"

Once the lady told her that she was not human, but in fact some sort of jellyfish, it raised some curious questions. The Digital World certainly had Digimon taking some strange appearances though she assumed that some would disguise their appearance here just to avoid detection. "I'm assuming that your jellyfish form is hidden to avoid detection here? Maybe I should've had Vera disguise herself in this world after all." She might have to improvise a bit for Vera's disguise, but was there anything inside this library to use? If Digimon themselves had to avoid people curious enough to find out who they were then she should've invested in a paper bag disguise.[break][break]
Vera sensed her partner's fear as she tried to calm her a bit. "Don't worry about it, I'm sure no one's noticing I'm here as long as I hide." It would be awkward if she had to explain that Vera was just a plush to the eyes of those who were unaware except for this disguised woman. The possibility of people assuming that Vera must be an alien was silly, but it seemed to be an answer to the people that were not fully aware of digital creatures from another dimension.

Huh, she believed her. How 'new' was she to this? How much did she know? Questions began to arise in Mae's mind before she nodded towards Viki. "Precisely. It's either my Keramon form, or my Meicoomon form. Only the latter can put up a convincing disguise, honestly. Vera's pretty capable of passing off as a plush on her own but it'd be wise to grab a holosuit whenever you're able to." Mae whispered.
Then she turned her attention towards Vera. "Most people won't notice, but the ones who do notice...well, I've been trying to keep away from them as of late. It's either tamers or DATS, and...I thankfully haven't met the latter yet. I'd rather not meet them any time soon, too." Bad enough being a weird computer alien from another world. Now there's cops to worry about, too.

The DATS? She could understand other tamers questioning why Vera was in her true form rather than hiding it from the public, but there was the problem of cops not knowing what kind of world was out there with creatures beyond their imagination. Mae also suggested that she should buy a holosuit for Vera in the future as it could help solve the disguise issue better than just trying to pass her off as a plush. "You're right, I'll invest in a holosuit for her later as it could solve the problem of having her blend in instead of trying to pass her off as a plush."[break][break]
She did want to ask about what this DATS was, maybe it was some kind of organization that this disguised Digimon belonged to. "By the way, what's the DATS about?" She began to ask the lady while she had to worry about the cops asking about a sentient plant being able to talk. The Digital World was still a mysterious existence to the rest of the world except for the Tamers themselves, but it meant that there was a lot to discover on equal footing with other Tamers.

It was strange, meeting someone so amenable to Mae's advice. But, it was far from unwelcome. The tanned not-quite-a-human gave the much paler lady a nod. "Pretty simple. Um...From what I know? Government agents that are of the belief that Digimon are problematic. Which, while partially true, doesn't quite apply to everyone. While I'm -for- governmental aid in keeping people safe from the actual bad Digimon, they're more for us staying in the other world. In short, things are tense and...I don't know what might happen next."
Honestly, from what she read on Tamernet, the only real way to ensure everything going forward was okay was to do your best to be a good person. "I don't know if they're bad, but I also don't think they're good, so stay on the lookout, and if you run into anyone affiliated with them, please be on your guard. I...Um. I hope that was a good enough explanation..."
