Trial by Fire and Smoke (Kitt)

It was good to see the spadamon slowly but surely open up bit by bit with each passing moment of their fight, even giving Dio a smile after his compliment. The quicker he left that scaredy cat like attitude towards the world around him and fighting in general, the easier Kitt's live would surely get.
Well that...and the more relaxed he was, the more likely he'd be to make a mistake mid spar. Yes, of course Dio was also fighting to win, that was the only way he knew how to fight after all.
He was quick to show how serious he was as he saw the Spadamon's ensuing attack coming his direction at full speed. Instead of preparing to dodge it however, the imp sped on, ready to run head first into it as he brought his hand forward. A sharp flash of purple formed in his arm, a short release of energy that looked not unlike a short blade shot out from it. For a moment it seemed Dio would use that to attempt to block the X shaped flamed but...he didn't, instead meeting the attack shoulder first as he seemingly rammed the side of his body into it, smoke emerging as the fire wrapped his entire framed.
He soon emerged from said smoke however, looking more battered but just as ready. Unfortunately for him he did end up falling forward as he continued his run, though he managed roll on his shoulder and get back on his feet in less than the blink of an eye, getting back to running towards his pupil at full speed. Did that count as a fall too? Probably, but he didn't seem to care too much
"HA! Try harder!" He roared out as he brought down his energy blade upon the Spadamon, a flame in his eyes followed by a the flash of an evil smirk.
Dio's side takes the full brunt of the Blue Brave, rolling on the ground to cushion the fall before slashing at Kitt with D-Edge.
[RAM Upgrade Giga] D-Edge: Focusing power on either of his arms, Dio summons forth an energy blade coming out from his forearm. Said blade is made of unrefined energy, so it has to be elemental in nature in order to be maintained. It takes the shape of a fire wreathed blade, but its damage is slightly higher than Dio's average fire based skills, being able to succesfully block a single target skill, or be used to attack, causing heavy damage. The blade will disappear after either three successful attacks or a block, and can only be used for either attack or defense per activation (it can't used to block after doing one swing). Three posts cooldown
Durations:
D-Edge: (3/3)
Cooldowns:
ChaineD (3/3)
Pillar of Fire (2/2)
Primordial Burst (1/2)

As Kitt closed in with his Exceed-powered Blue Brave, he became alert as the Impmon drew forth a blade of his own, made of his own energy. If they weren’t in combat, Kitt would be gawking at how cool it looked, but he had to remain alert. Knowing that his sensei probably had a vast combat experience than him, which is next to none, the Spadamon had to brace for whatever comes next as their blades clash. Unfortunately their blunt side of their blades wouldn’t meet as Dio decided to take his attack head-on, erupting into flames, shocking Kitt. He came to a stretching halt, the sight being enough to make his stomach churn in horror. “Oh, Jesmon! I-I didn’t mean for that to happen, Lord Di-” he was cut off at the sight of the Impmon emerging from the smoke, charred and battered, and ready to retaliate. Unfortunately, Kitt had little time to react; he could only raise his double-bladed sword above him to shield himself. The blades clashed, and Kitt could only hold his ground for a couple of seconds before the sheer force blasted him away. He was sent a good dozen feet or so until he came to a slow stop. As the smoke started to clear, Kitt could be seen wincing in pain, bending on one knee from the clash as he picked himself back up. “Uhhg… that hurts…” he moaned, getting his footing back. He took his fighting pose once more, gazing at Dio while trying to think of a strategic way to attack. And then...a thought came up. His competitive gaze disappeared as he lowered his weapon, slightly befuddled. “Hey, Lord Dio-sama...” He began. “I don’t think this ‘knocking each other down to win thing’ is working. I mean...shouldn’t the match objective be like a no-holds-barred kind of thing, if you wanted to make it more difficult? I feel as though knocking each other down to the ground is too restrictive because what if one of us is trying to dodge? Would that count as one?” Combat Log:Taken by surprise by Dio's quick reprisal, Kitt has little time to react, and tries to guard Dio's D-Edge, only to get blown away by the sheer force, taking damage as result.Passive: Feline Senses - Kitt has an acute sense of vision and hearing. Outside of combat, he is able to see in dim light and can hear a wide range of sounds that humans are unable to hear. In combat, he can still fight effectively even if either of those senses were compromised.
Exceed:2 fuel phials used; 3 remain.

Admitedly there was a subtly but still noticeable feeling of guilt as Dio's attack slammed the young spadamon away. Other than him biting his lip at the sight of the pained Kitt (which could easily have been mistaken for anything else), he didn't let it show. Was he being a bit too rough? Perhaps, but he kept telling himself it was for the kid's sake, someone had to teach him how to wield his power effectively, and honestly...this was the only real, non traumatizing way Dio knew.
However, Kitt's ensuing question gave the imp pause, as he practically froze for a moment trying to think of a good counter argument. "I...well you see...hm." He scratched himself behind the ear, deep in thought, before giving out a sigh and shrugging as he relaxed his fighting stance. "Fair enough Kitt, you do have a point."
With that he'd simply let himself fall on his rump for a moment, making a somewhat pained grunt as he loudly cracked his neck. "Guh, gotta admit, you know how to pack a punch with that sword of yours. I'd hate being on the receiving end again if you digivolve." He said with approval in his voice, before turning to face Gio who was still watching intently as the whole thing unfolded. Dio gave a small nod, to which the guilmon didn't seem to respond at first, merely blinking for a moment in quiet surprise. However, a second later he'd point a single clawed digit at himself, to which Dio gave another nod. The reptile beamed intensely, as he rapidly got up and rapidly made his way next to his brother.
"That said, if we are to go all out to our fullest, then we'll have to do it right, wouldn't you agree?" Dio said, dusting himself off as he got back up on his feet, before giving his brother a gentle pet on the head, eliciting a quiet purr like growl from Gio.
"As you probably know Kitt, twin digimon are individually weaker than a single regular digimon. So logically when fighting as two they are about as strong as a normal mon...but with a number's advantage." The imp said, giving the spadamon a knowing look.
As if their intentions weren't obvious enough, Gio felt the need to add (quite cheerfully too), "That's right! And there's two of us now."
"I did tell you fights are unfair, kid, but I'll throw you a bone: if you take out just one of us by any means necesary, that'll still count as a double win for you." Dio added, now fully turning to face the Spadamon as his fighting stance returned. "Hell, I'm feeling extra generous. You get to make the first move. Make it count."
"Show us your best, mister Kitt!" The blackguilmon added just as happily as always, thought that was probably lost to Kitt thanks to his battle ready stance, head low and close to the ground, his clawed fingers dug into soil as if ready to pounce at a moment's notice...

It was honestly a legitimate question that Kitt had on his mind until now. If the goal was to find a way to help him achieve the Champion level, why make the steps too restrictive? If he were to lose, then he will be no better off than when he had started. Even Dio had trouble coming up with an explanation as he agreed with him. Kitt blushed at Dio’s compliment, turning his eyes away as he scratched the back of his head. “Oh, um...thank you, Lord Dio-sama.” he said. “And you're pretty strong too. I thought that only Impmons could conjure only light fire attacks. But you took it to the next level with that wall of fire attack you did, that sword you summoned, and that icey chain you made. It’s amazing how you can control two opposing elements with ease.”Kitt sat on the ground and relaxed for a bit, wanting to take in the little breather. Though it was only a teeny-tiny breather before Gio rushed right next to Dio, prompting Kitt to get up as well, albeit a bit slowly. His ears twitched listening to the next phase of training. So instead of the exercises being primarily focused on 1v1 matches, Kitt would now face both of his teachers since they were both twin Digimon and were individually weaker than a solo Digimon, so that much Kitt understood. However, he broke off into a nervous sweat when the realization kicked in: that he was about to be facing both of his teachers at the same time. “Uhh...umm…” was all the Spadamon could muster after that hefty dump. He swallowed thickly. He had no one to blame but himself for opening his mouth; otherwise, things would have continued off at the same pace with little to no progress. But Dio was right: fights can be unfair, so it was best to just suck it up for the time being. "A-Alright, I'll give you two everything I got. But..." he paused, biting his lip, " promise me you won't hold back against me, alright?"
Drawing his Blue Queen, he stabbed one of the blades into the ground and twisted the hilt, blue flames escaping the engines as it began to coat both blades in a thin layer of fire. With Dio giving him the first move, Kitt charged at the two twins, jumping into the air. "Get ready..." he span around rapidly, amplifying the flames, aiming to attack the two of them at the same time. "For this!" Combat Log:Kitt attacks both Dio and Gio with an Exceed-powered Blue Streak, spinning around three times to increasing the overall damage. Blue Streak - Unleashes a full spin equivalent to the number of fuel phials Kitt has saved up while still pushing forward towards the enemy. Each spin becoming more 7% more stronger than the last. Can only be use if Exceed is activated. Cooldown: Two post. Fuel phial depletion depends on how many phials he decides to use. (Kitt spins three times, increasing the damage output by 21% with the second spin).RAM Upgrade] Exceed - By twisting the grip as if revving a motorcycle engine , Kitt can cause it to spray a flammable liquid over the blade, increasing the range and inflicting damage of its attack. It can up to five fuel phials in total, so this amp-up state is limited. Depending on the ability, each attack consumes one fuel phial at a time.If all five fuel phials are expended, the engine blade will overheat, and he'll have to wait awhile until he can use this ability again. Cooldown: three posts. Passive:
Feline Senses - Kitt has an acute sense of vision and hearing. Outside of combat, he is able to see in dim light and can hear a wide range of sounds that humans are unable to hear. In combat, he can still fight effectively even if either of those senses were compromised.
Exceed:
3 fuel phials expended; no fuel phials remain. Blue Queen now goes into overheat mode. Cooldowns:Blue Streak: 0/2 Exceed: 0/3

Try as he might, it was impossible for Dio to hide the proud, almost smug smile as Kitt once again praised his combat skills. Honestly, it was a nice change of pace from the usual "subtle" digs he was used to from the rest of the people he fought against, even during friendly spars.
"Hah! It might be surprising to hear but the Dark Lord wasn't born being this awesome! This power comes from three sources. Adversity, effort and training." The imp said, punctuating each word with his three fingers. Again, things Dio was sure Kitt had to be all too familiar with. "Also good teachers." He added with a shrug. He was about to add something about having the support from others but he knew full well how cheesy that would sound right now, regardless of how true it might have been.
Luckily he didn't seem too against the 2v1 idea, though the promise he asked of the twins brought a chuckle from Dio. "Heh." The imp shook his head, amused. "Kitt, please. The Dark Lord never holds back."
In an interesting turn of events, both twins went for the exact same tactic against the attack: stand their ground and try to block it. They were met with varying results: Dio, perhaps underestimating the strenght that Kitt had put behind the attack was sent tumbling back a good couple feet, while Gio...still stood in his place, claws clashing against Kitt's sword with a loud clang, making the dinosaur slide a mere inches back, but otherwise he seemed unscathed.
"Haha, you're so cool Mister Kitt!" The guilmon proclaimed with sincerity and glee, slit like eyes practically gleaming with anticipation as energy seemed to shoot up through his body, the various red sigils and marks on his scales slowly starting to emit a faint glow. As for Dio? Well he was now back on his feet, a seemingly content smirk on his eyes, almost as if the excitement of fighting managed to numb out the pain.
"Not bad..." He charged back into the fray soon enough however, hands glowing with energy once again as he reached for the spadamon, a single dark blast shooting out of his palm and with any luck right into Kitt's face. If Dio was going to hold back, it certainly wasn't showing yet.
"Now open wide, Kitt!"
Gio tanks the attack with Gio Guard, while Dio takes the brunt of it and retaliates with Primordial Burst.
Primordial Burst: Combines both fire and ice magic to launch a sphere of dark energy from his hands. It’s considerably stronger than his other attacks, and as such takes more energy to perform. Two post cooldown.
[RAM Upgrade Giga] Axon Charge: Due to Gio’s rather odd upbringing and traces of his old demon lord data, his body and very core react to physical trauma in an different way: On top of an increased tolerance to pain, every time Gio receives damage from a named move he stores a part of the attack’s energy within him, giving him a charge. He can store up to five of these charges. Every charge gives him a passive 5% increase in damage to all of his named moves, though he loses a charge for every two turns without receiving damage. Furthermore he can spend all five charges to create a medium ranged (10 feet at all levels) explosion around him, causing heavy damage to up to two targets, but can’t gain charges for the next two turns.
(1/5 charges)
Gio Guard!: Gio stands his ground, his stance and muscles tensing up as pure force of will runs through him, allowing him to block an attack of his same level. 3 posts cooldown.
Cooldowns:
Gio: Gio Guard! (0/3)
Dio: Primordial Burst: (0/2)

Hearing the Dark Lord's reaffirming words, Kitt couldn't help but get more anxious by the second, his heart rate beginning to pick up. What was he thinking, taking both of them on at the same time? While what Dio said was true, the thing about twin Digimon being weaker than a solo Digimon like himself, they had more battle experience to boot. How to better react to certain encounters, how to synchronize with each other, and how to adapt. He on the other hand was like a baby to them. Back when he was homeless and wandering around the world, he only knew how to hit and run during times where he would get caught stealing food or any other valuables. But nevertheless, he's got to at least try. Otherwise, how will he get stronger to protect Eris? As Kitt clashed with them, he was met with mix results: Dio was send a couple of meters back while Gio met his might with his in a standstill. Kitt gritted his teeth, trying his best to overwhelm him. It was clear to him that Gio was the stronger of the two, and someone he needed to take down last. Unfortunately, the flames around his Blue Queen slowly began to die down as the weapon entered a cooldown mood, exhausting smoke from both exhaust ports. This wasn't good. "No, no, no!" The Spadamon muttered, ignoring Gio's praise and realizing the situation. He wouldn't be able to set his weapon on fire of a little while. Darn! He shouldn't had used the remainder of his fuel phials. Now he was at a disadvantage. But he didn't back down, continuing to exert his strength to overwhelm the Black Guilmon's. Hearing Dio's voice, Kitt turned to his direction, only to see a ball of dark energy hitting him right in the face, forcing him to stumble back, yelling out in pain before he feel on one knee, wincing in pain from the attack. He couldn't help but hissed at the two, his eyes shrinking into slits for a moment before enlarging back to normal. With a push of a button, he vented out the depleted fuel phials from his Blue Queen as they qickly evaporated inthe data as soon as they hit the ground. Going into his belt pouches, he took five additional fuel phials and inserted them into a slot along the hilt., slowly beginning the refuel the weapon. But until then, he'll have to use his wits to make a comeback. He jumped into the air, his weapon beginning to shine brightly, slashing two times, releasing a blazing X shaped wave at Gio...supposedly. In truth, he was aiming at the area where Gio stood mere inches behind. The attack would hit the ground, creating a smokescreen that will hopefully stagger the Black Guilmon. As for Dio, once he landed on the ground, he began to charge at him, with his weapon once again shining a bright blue. "Take this!"
Combat Log: Kitt gets caught off-guard and gets struck by Dio's Primordial Burst. Kitt vents out the exhausted fuel phials and refills Blue Queen with a full stock, though he'll have to wait three turns before the phials calibrate with the weapon. Kitt jumps into the air, aiming at the ground in front of Gio with Aurora Blazer, creating a smokescream that'll temporally stagger the Black Guilmon. Aurora Blazer - Kitt draws Blue Quen back and slashes, releasing a blazing wave towards the enemy. If Exceed is activated, the wave will become more larger with a large blast radius, leaving a blue flaming trail in the aftermath. Cooldown is one without exceed. Two with Exceed. Depletes one fuel phial with Exceed. Kitt chargers at Dio and attacks with Blue Brave, unleashing a flurry of swings. Blue Brave - Slices the opponent cleanly with the dual blade shining blue. If Exceed is activated, the blade will be coated in blue flames, further increasing his damage. No cooldown if used regularly. Cooldown: one post with Exceed. Depletes one fuel phial with Exceed. Passive: Feline Senses - Kitt has an acute sense of vision and hearing. Outside of combat, he is able to see in dim light and can hear a wide range of sounds that humans are unable to hear. In combat, he can still fight effectively even if either of those senses were compromised.

As the attack sent the spadamon backwards Dio took a moment to catch his breath, though never once looking away from Kitt, while Gio now rushed forwards, intent on continuing what his brother had started. He didn't get far however, as the white lion took to the air and pelted the guilmon's area with smoke, making him stagger in place and halting his advance. As for Dio?
He soon found himself on the receiving end of slash after slash from Kitt's blade, leaving him with little room to do much other than try and dodge what he could. Some of the attacks he avoided, most of them managed to reach their mark, nicking and cutting at the imp's hide, Dio biting his lip harder and harder as he kept getting slashed. Yet he still managed a defiant, almost proud smile under all that pressure.
"Yeah that's right! Don't hold back, show me your best!!!" He roared, his mouth gritted in pain but his eyes beaming with fiery energy. It was hard not to find some enjoyment in the carnage, but perhaps that was simply his demon lord side speaking. At any rate it was clear his strategy was working. Kitt was slowly but surely getting looser, more wild and angry with each passing moment, each swing and motion, each blow received and dealt. All prime situations to trigger a jump in power to the next level, but only if he managed to keep the pressure going.
"Good call, Mister Kitt!" The lizard meanwhile cheered from within the cloud, a primal growl of excitement reverberating under his voice as he took a deep breath within the smoke cloud. Kitt's move had given him an idea.
A moment later, he'd start spewing some smoke of his own, a black cloud moving forth and aiming to envelop both Kitt and Dio. While initially annoying, Dio soon saw this for the opportunity it really was. Noticing the small sparks and embers floating within the black cloud he knew what to do. Lunging once again at the Spadamon he shot his arm forward, a spark of flame shooting from below his shoulder as a blade shaped fire formed in his arm, the newly formed weapon slashing forwards at Kitt and, most importantly, heating up the embers inside the cloud, igniting them and turning a the once black smoke into a grey and orange hot zone. If the blade didn't get to Kitt, the sparks in the air would.
Dio is damaged by Kitt's Blue Brave while Gio is momentarily dissoriented by Aurora Blazer. They retaliate with a combo of Exhaust Cloud followed by D-Edge.
Exhaust Cloud: Gio breathes out hot smoke screen that obscures vision in a small area, while the small embers within it cause medium damage to any enemy standing inside the cloud. However, if the smoke is struck by any fire or plasma based attacks the embers within it will heat up, increasing the damage done by the cloud significantly. Unless blown away by other attacks the smoke cloud lasts for two turns, and has a 3 turn cooldown.
Three posts cooldown.

Kitt's little gambit to throw Gio off guard and strike the ground in front of him paid off as the Black Guilmon was surrounded by uplifted smoke from his diversion. Now he attacked Dio, unleashing a flurry of slashes from both blades. Knowing that Gio was the stronger of the two, it was best to deal with him last and not exert the remaining strength he has left. If those fuel phials calibrated in his weapon faster to use Exceed, those attacks would have been much stronger. This was honestly a mixed situation for him. As he kept the pressure up, he didn't bother to response to both of his masters' praises, merely gritting his teeth in response. They were in a middle of a fight, so even though he appreciate the nice things they said, now really wasn't the time as the air around them became more palpable with the growing intensity of the fight. The Spadamon took a step back, ready to finish his flurry combo with a jab, hoping that it'll send Lord Dio down a few pegs. But as he did, both of them were surrounded in a black fog. Kitt closed his eyes and covered his mouth, not wanting to inhale the smoke. He felt a painful stinging sensation all over his body. His ears starting to twitch, sensing that something was coming right his way. He opened one eye and shifted his body to the left, dodging what was revealed to be Dio's attack. His relief ended up being shorted lived, as he realized that Dio's attack was a flame attack and the smoke they were in was extremely volatile. The black smoke soon began to heat up, and a large crackle followed, with small but painful explosions striking from what felt like everywhere and what felt like forever to him, forcing him to scream out in pain as he was sent tumbling a couple meters, crashing into a tree. Kitt slumped to his knees, breathing rough and exhausted. His eyes seemed blank, like he was barely even able to keep himself conscious. "Too...strong...!" was all he could mutter before he collapsed to the ground, grunting in pain. His blue cloak now pelted in black charred from the attack. He opened one eye, coughing, looking at the two Digimon. It was clear who the winner was. He sighed and gave a weak smile. 'It's alright,' he thought to himself, closing his eyes. 'I gave it my all. That's all that matters. I guess this is as strong I can get, but that's ok. My own strength isn't needed.' Combat Log:Kitt dodges Dio's D-Edge, but thanks to the flames of the blade, it ignites the Exhaust Cloud he's in, taking extra damage and sent tumbling into a tree, injured. Passive: Feline Senses - Kitt has an acute sense of vision and hearing. Outside of combat, he is able to see in dim light and can hear a wide range of sounds that humans are unable to hear. In combat, he can still fight effectively even if either of those senses were compromised.

Two simple moves had been what ultimately had finished the battle, sending the poor Kitt reeling backwards and seemingly defeated. There was no mocking or cheering from neither of the twins, just a tired silence as they exchanged a glance, before turning back once again to the spadamon.
The imp slowly paced closer to the fallen Kitt, looking him up and down as he continued to catch his breath. The kid was hurt, and most likely about to be out. Dio bit his lip, sighing as he knelt down closer to Kitt. He...wanted to let him rest. The kid had done his best, and had frankly earned being left alone. Dio had already messed with him plenty, and for what? To test his own strenght? To pointlessly try to force Kitt to become stronger?
He kept trying to come up with an excuse to justify this but he came up blank again and again.
"Kitt..." He muttered, placing his palm on the back of the Spadamon's head, in a half hearted pet. Yes, he had gone far...but not far enough yet.
"...get up."
The imp's hand would find its way to the scruff of Kitt's neck, grasping tightly around it and harshly lifting the limp body of the digimon up so his face would be closer to the imp's.
"I said...Get. Up." It wasn't an order, it was a command. The imp's voice was cold, but not emotionless. No, there was something very distinctive on his tone. Anger. Frustration. "Kitt, are you deaf, daft or just a fucking weakling? Are you this pathetic that you're ready to pass out after a bit of a scuffle?"
His tone slowly started to lose that cold however, slowly but surely sounding shakier, more angry. He was no longer simply holding the feline up, he was now actively shaking him.
"You dare mock me like this? After all the effort I put?" With that he let Kitt back down on the ground. Not gently, mind you, but almost dismissively, caring little if he fell face first back on the mud or not. He'd rise back up to his feet, glaring down at the spadamon, fire in his eyes and sulfur in his voice.
"Get up. I'm telling you to get the hell up."
"D-dio?" Was all Gio could muster up, clearly taken aback. Shaken. Almost scared at this side of Dio he was unfamiliar with. A side he hadn't let shown in a while. Not since he had spent that time locked up for weeks. Not since he was just a lowly little imp trying to survive in a barren wasteland filled with violence and hatred.
"Do you not understand how pathetic you're being, kid? Your whimpers, your meekness, everything about that...disgusts me." He practically spat those words, picking him up once again and pushing him against the tree once again.
"You know why? Because I know...I know that you can do so much better. You always can, you always could." His voice seemed to lower for a moment, almost as if finally calming down, before coming back in full force. "And I see you and I see potential, endless power waiting to be released...but I also see weakness holding it back. Fear, shyness, cowardice, all poisons keeping you from becoming something. And guess what..." He placed his foot over the spadamon's chest, slowly shifting his weight into it ever so slightly for a short moment.
"The world is an awful, unforgiving place. If you don't bite back, it's not going to swallow you whole. It's not even going to kill you. But it's going to twist you and hurt you so much you'll wish for it." Was he talking from experience? It was hard to tell behind all the anger, and sneering. Behind all the insults. And tears.
"And...I don't wanna see that happen to you. I don't want to see it anymore, I just want to see the best you got. Stop being afraid. Stop being shy. Stop being a pathetic whelp."
Stop reminding me of what I was.
"And start. Fighting. Back. Let all you have bottled up inside out...and don't stop."

Kitt waved at Dio weakly as he laid slump to the tree, laughing weakly as the adrenaline had all worn out. The match was over. Dio and Gio were the winners. It reminded him that no matter the outcome, he still had a lot to learn, but he was proud to have given the two his all. The Dark Lord patted the back of head, in which Kitt responded by closing his eyes, purring, taking comfort in. He knew now that he wasn’t cut out for fighting, and he was ok with that. Battles should be fought by heroes and warriors, not Digimon like him.
But what Dio said afterward made him open his eyes, his expression switching from comfort to bewilderment. “What?” That was Kitt’s only response before the Dark Lord grabbed him by the scruff of his neck, lifting him up til his face met his.
A wave of anxiety rushed through the Spadamon, more than it ever has as Dio demanded him to get up, calling him pathetic for conceding the match. What happened? A moment ago he was praising him for keeping the pressure up, now it was like he was a whole different ‘mon—a threatening mon at that. Kitt was nervously flickering his gaze between the Impmon and the ground.
The Dark Lord began shaking violently. Kitt’s heart was now beating wildly, so fast that he was certain it would burst out of his rib cage. The Impmon dropped him, with Kitt falling to the ground.
Kitt swallowed thickly, yellow eyes wide, retreating in fear “N-No! It’s just...but you’ve won. F-fair and square.” His voice now cracked in fear, scared of what the Dark Lord will do next. His eyes shifted to Gio, who only watched, scared as well. This was a side of Dio that he probably rarely sees.
He was picked up once again and pushed against the tree, the Impmon’s words piercing him like a dagger. He wanted to say something, anything to defend himself, to convince Dio that he wasn’t the things he said he was. But really, they were the truth. Tears slowly started to well up in his eyes. Although he tried to hold them off, not trying to show the weakness Dio claimed to have, it was practically apparent to him, clear as day, that he was starting to cry.
“I…” Kitt choked back, opening and closing his mouth. It was hard to try and apologize, because he knew those words would be meaningless. And the more he tried to say something, the more the tears streamed down his face, and the more his body trembled.
He couldn’t hold it in anymore. On cue, he burst into tears, sobbing uncontrollably into his hands. He didn’t even react when Dio placed his foot on him, for he felt the truth in Dio’s words: he was nothing but a weakling. Back when he and Eris, the Spadamon was too weak or afraid to take action. But what could he have done? What could he have done to stop that situation, or any other situation that required fighting? Sure, Digimon had the power to fight, but why those who don’t want to be looked down upon?
At this point, he was sobbing so hard that he couldn’t even hear the Dark Lord anymore. He just wanted to go home. He just wanted to get away from here, far away from them. It doesn’t matter if he has some untapped potential; he just didn’t like fighting. What was so wrong about that?
But then, his sobbing ceased as he froze, ears flickering at Dio’s last sentence--the last word. Whelp. And immediately, everything started to click. His mind flashed back to the Spartan Training Grounds when Dio called him that same word when he told him and Ophelia to say put as she was subding Eris.
Whelp.
The word was beginning to repeat in his head over and over again, almost as if it was playing on repeat.
“I remember now...” Kitt uttered, slowly beginning to pick himself up, albeit a bit difficult. He began to tremble, not by fear anymore, but from sheer anger. “You called me that…back then.” He slowly made his way to Dio, his head lowered, clenching his fist. With no warning, he snapped back and gave the Impmon a hard headbut, aiming to stagger him.
He looked down Dio, baring his fangs, his eyes now slit. His fur stood on end, through the sheer, immense anger that was billowing up inside of him. “I...hate that word. I hate that word so much. And for you to use that word not once, but twice to me, makes it unforgivable.”
At once, his form started to slowly peel away, starting from his feet, revealing his data frame. “You don’t know the first thing about me. You think my life was all happiness and rainbows? My life was filled with nothing but misery. Everyone at that orphanage bullied me, even the caretaker, all because I was different from everyone. They all called me by that one word: whelp.”
The moment he uttered that word from his lips, his form started to peel away rapidly. The wind began to pick up, with it beginning to swirl around him. His tears flowed more rapidly, yet his voice didn't' waiver. “For you to just sneer at me, telling me to become something I’m not, and calling me that word, I’ll…”
A soothing mave light glowed around Kitt, The last of his form peeled away, revealing nothing but his data frame.
“I’LL MAKE YOU FUCKING PAAAAAAAY!!”
The light around him exploded in a solar flare-like motion, kicking up dust and debris. Inside the light, Kitt’s form grew even bigger, much larger. Green overall pants appeared around his legs, decorated with samurai armor with protruding blue flames. His chest became muscular, each muscle well refined, before being covered up with more armor. A black bancho cape materialized, flowing freely. His shoulders broadened, with armor appearing as well as his torso. In his hand, his Blue Queen shifted, manifesting into a katana that was encased in blue flames. With a swift swing and pose, his golden eyes glared as he roared loudly. “White Leomon!”
The light around the figure died down, revealing Kitt’s new form to the Dio and Gio. His face bore a more serious look as he looked down at the Dark Lord, with untold fury in his eyes. He then quickly approached, and with another loud roar, he extending his fist out, aiming to give Dio a big right-hook.
Combat Log:
Kitt digivolved into White Leomon!
Kitt quickly rushes to Dio and delivers a hard punch to his face.

As he kept verbally eviscerating the poor Spadamon, the imp could faintly feel a weight within him, clutching at his core as every poison filled word came out of his mouth.
The things he was saying, the way he was hurting the kid... It hurt. It was physically painful for him to witness and even more so to do, yet he couldn't stop himself. Even if he wanted to he wouldn't have been able to. He needed to go the extra mile. He had to get Kitt to that point otherwise all their effort would be for naught.
Just as he was about to break himself, to succumb under his own guilt and remorse over inflicting the same pain he had felt before on someone else...Kitt's demeanor changed. His tone turned from a sad whimpering to a mutter of barely contained anger, his gaze darkening with a rage unlike anything Dio had seen before.
"Kitt..."
It was jarring, so much so Dio couldn't do anything but to take a step back, frozen, letting Kitt approach him unimpeded, unsure what to expect from him. He certainly did expect Kitt to react strongly but he still found himself completely blindsided by the rather strong headbutt that the Spadamon dealt, Dio staggering back and narrowly avoiding falling on his rump from the sheer strenght behind the attack and the surprise factor.
Did he believe Kitt's childhood had been "all happiness and rainbows" as he put it? Of course not, it was plain for him to see. He didn't come from a sheltered background, or a pampered childhood, he came from something colder. Dio would know. It was like staring into a mirror, after all.
Yet he didn't say anything, just glaring back at the Spadamon, half angry and surprised about that headbutt, the other half just...waiting. Anticipation building as he wondered what would come after, even though he knew the answer to it deep down. He remembered it. And what was more important, so did Kitt. That simple word had been enough to trigger something in the spadamon, to open the locked door that held back years of repressed anger and painful memories deep in his being. And something else. Something brighter, powerful.
And as the light encased the rookie's body and transformed it into that larger, more fearsome and powerful form Dio...couldn't help but smirk. He had done it, he had helped Kitt grow, if only slightly, though he didn't exactly find pride in the "how". He knew what was coming, and knew he deserved it.
Perhaps because of this (or maybe simply because it was too fast for a rookie like him to dodge) he suddenly found himself on the receiving end of a rather mean right hook from a positively raging Kitt, the strenght of the massive fist sending the small imp flying back a good number of meters and, in a painful twist of irony, through at least one tree.
As for Gio...well he was having some mixed reactions right now, a mixture of concern over the well being of his brother and Kitt on the one hand, sheer adoration and excitement for Kitt's sudden advancement in power on the other.
"Mister Kitt! You did it! You're so much more cooler now!" The lizard cheered, tail swishing back and fort with a puppy like excitement.
On the other side however, Dio struggled not just to get back on his feet, but to remain conscious. The previous sparring had already taken some energy from him, but that single punch had been almost worse than the entire training combined. Gritting his teeth in pain he pushed himself back up, breathing heavily.
"Get...up you fool. You brought this on yourself, now take it." He closed his eyes, taking in another deep breath, a soft light now surrounding his own frame. Much like how Kitt had done his form peeled away, his data growing and shifting into a far larger, more demonic sight.
He would have almost gladly taken the beating sitting down after what he put Kitt through, but the kid deserved the right to earn his victory. That, and the Dark Lord still had some pride to maintain.
"That's right..." The Devidramon growled glaring back at the White Leomon. "Let it all out." With that a torrent of lightning spewed forth from the dragon's mouth, charring everything in it's wake as it aimed to blast the Leomon away.
Dark Gale: Gathering power within his jaws, the draconic digimon spews forth a large stream of blackened lightning. Has a 60ft range and causes heavy damage. Obviously, it’s more damaging against wet targets. Three posts cooldown.
Cooldowns: Dark Gale (0/3)

Kitt’s fist connected to the Impmon’s face, sending him through a nearby tree as a result. Where Gio expressed glee over him finally evolving, it ultimately fell on deaf ears to him. He simply gave a snarl at the BlackGuilmon, telling him to shut up. He didn’t feel any satisfaction from that attack. In fact, he didn’t feel good about any of this, really. All he felt was the rage that he had unconsciously been bottling up for so long, and the one person he wanted to take it out on was Dio.
Keeping his eyes on Dio, he watched as the Impmon picked himself back up, digivolving into a demonic form—Devildramon. Gritting his teeth and with tears flowing down his eyes once more, the White Leomon unleashed a defiant roar, charging at him.
His golden eyes widened as the Dark Lord spewed lighting from his mouth. But rather than trying to get out of the way, he took the attack head-on. He took out his Blue Queen and raised it in a guarding motion. He howled in pain as most of the intense volatile energy sent agonizing pain throughout his body. And yet, his leg muscles tighten up, still moving from the wake of the attack. It was painful, yes, but nothing was as painful then reliving his past once again.
As the smoke billowed around him, Kitt would use this opportunity to mask himself, using his ears to pinpoint where the Devildramon was at. Drawing his katana, he summoned a gale of wind surrounded by blue flames. He slashed in a vertical motion, essentially cutting the smoke that surrounded him in two as the wind impune fire attack came hurling towards Dio.
“I...” Kitt bellowed out, having difficulties adjusting to his deeper voice. “I...hate this…”
Combat Log:
Using his bulk and his katana, Kitt takes 40% less damage from Dio's Dark Gale.
Using the element of surprise as well as his advance hearing, Kitt uses an Exceed-powered Sudden Gale from the billowing cloud of smoke directed at Dio, attempting to take him off-guard.
[RAM Upgrade] Exceed - By twisting the grip as if revving a motorcycle engine , Kitt can cause it to spray a flammable liquid over the blade, increasing the range and inflicting damage of its attack.
Sudden Gale - Kitt releases a single slash of wind from his katana that throws almost any Digimon off their feet. With Exceed, the slash of wind is imbue with blue flames, increasing the damage by 20%. Cooldown: None if used regularly. One with Exceed. Consumes One fuel phial.
Passive: Advanced Feline Senses - Kitt retains his superior senses of vision and hearing as a Spadamon, making him able to function in combat if either senses were compromised.
Cooldowns: Sudden Gale: 0/1
Exceed: One fuel phial used; four remains.

To say Kitt's reaction to Gio came as a shock would be an understatement. Being ignored was one thing, but even the childishly minded Guilmon found himself reeling just a bit from that deathly glare the Leomon gave him. His smile faded, replaced first by a surprised blink, then a concerned grimace.
"M-mister Kitt?" He said, reaching out his clawed hand to the tall feline in an attempt to perhaps pet him, as if that would get him out of his angry trance. Kitt didn't stay put or even acknowledge his presence any longer however, as he was soon charging down his brother again. Unsure on what he was supposed to do, the Guilmon merely ran after him, no longer simply wanting to see Kitt use his newly found power but now just wanting to be sure that they wouldn't hurt eachother.
As for Dio, he was still getting back on his feet even after firing that attack at Kitt. It seemed to have landed, but it merely slowed down the Leomon, as was apparent by the smoke from his last attack being practically sliced in two by Kitt as he launched a flaming wind current at him. There wasn't much the tired Dio could do to move out of the way of this other attack, so he raised his arms in front of him in a defensive manner, hoping to at least mitigate the ensuing damage.
It...did little, the force of the wind cutting open the scaly flesh of his arms as the fire continued through and slammed against his chest. The dragon reeled back, searing pain coursing through him as he roared. Yet his mind couldn't fully focus on the fighting, as Kitt's words rang all too loudly for him to ignore.
"...Hate?" Was all the Devidramon said, repeating that word allowed in confusion. He didn't expect an answer however, nor did he wait for one. He lunged at the Leomon, spinning in place once as he tried to slam the now electrified tip of his partially metallic tail against Kitt's side.
Dio takes heavy damage from Kitt's Sudden Gale, and retaliates with D-Spear.
[RAM Upgrade Giga] D-Spear: Focusing power through his body, Dio summons forth a sharp blade enveloping his tail’s metal tip. Despite having slightly better control over his power, it still has to be elemental (electrical) in nature in order to be maintained. The blade will disappear after either three successful attacks or a block, and can only be used for either attack or defense per activation (it can't used to block after doing one swing). Three post cooldown.
Durations: D-Spear (3/3)
Cooldowns: Dark Gale (1/3)

The fur on Kitt’s body immediately flared up to Dio’s utter confusion as to what he meant. He internally debated whether or not to repeat what he had said. He was on his last nerve at this point, but glaring at the Devidramon, who was now charging at him with an electrified tail, the White Leomon ignored the temptation of clobbering his face in. So he stood there, willingly taking the blow from Dio’s attack. He staggered from the blow, but made no shrieks of pain. Instead, as Dio’s tail was about to retreat to his side, he quickly grabbed it, pulling the Devidramon closer to him until he was mere inches away from his face. “I said: I. Hate. This.” Kitt repeated, his golden eyes glaring with fury. His tone quiet, but deeply menacing “The vibrations through my fists on contact, the sharp, cleaving pain on my side, the sound of my heart in my ears, I hate this. I always have from as long as I can remember. But right now, at this moment, the only thing I hate more than it...is you. Because you were right about me. I was a coward, scared of what would happen if I snapped, scared of what I was truly capable of, afraid that...if I lost it like last time, I may never come back. That I would accidentally kill someone close to me, like Eris, and I wouldn't be able to live with myself.”He tightens his grip around Dio’s tail, placing his other hand on it. “You say...that I’m just a pathetic whelp in your eyes. Well then, let me show you...JUST HOW MUCH OF A WHELP I REALLY AM!!”
With a defiant roar, he lifted Dio up into the air, before using all of his strength to slam him into the ground, cracking the ground beneath him. He didn’t stop, picking him up by the tail once again and slamming him to the ground again, and again, and again. If Dio was still immobilized on the ground, Kitt would clench his fist, channeling his energy until it manifested into an avatar of a lion’s head. He lunged it at the Devidramon, aiming to slam it right down to his stomach.
Combat Log: Kitt, ignoring the opportunity to counter or evade, takes a heavy blow from Dio's D-Spear from the side. Kitt grabs Dio's tail, and with all of his might slams him into the ground about four times, then plunging at his abdomen with Beast King's Fist. Beast King’s Fist - Channels energy from his fist that takes the shape of a lion’s head to punch the enemy or fire it from a distance. Passive: Advanced Feline Senses - Kitt retains his superior senses of vision and hearing as a Spadamon, making him able to function in combat if either senses were compromised. Cooldowns: Sudden Gale: 1/1; available for use

As soon as he found himself grabbed by the tail, Dio realized he had made a mistake, yes, but it didn't dawn on him right until he found himself rather indignantly dragged back and forced to confront Kitt face to face. Once there he didn't struggle however, nor did he try to attack the Leomon now that he was closer. He just stared back at the golden eyed lion, eyes locked with his as he talked.
It was only then it hit him. Kitt and him were similar yes, all too similar...yet completely opposite beings at the same time. Even if their upbringing and childhood were alike, the beings they were now couldn't have been more different. Where one relished in the combat and the power that came with it, the release of all that pent up agression and emotions, the other couldn't have loathed it more. At least so he claimed, despite being so naturally adept at it. Despite also having all that rage and pent up misery inside him. This living contradiction coupled with the sudden regret and doubt over making this broken kid go through hell again kept Dio from fighting back, even from trying to say something back, he could only manage a stare. First of defiance, then beffudlement and finally sadness. For what they had gone through and what they had become.
Even knowing it was coming didn't stop him from being shocked as he found his entire body being lifted in the blink of an eye, barely having enough time to react before he was slammed against the floor with enough strenght to knock the air out of him. Then Kitt did so again. And again. And again. And Gio simply watched in awe and fear from the sidelines, unsure how or even if he could help.
And many more times until Dio could barely move once Kitt was done, the dragon laying on the now shattered and broken ground, struggling to breathe or even move. He could feel both himself and any energy he may have had fading, leaving him. But Kitt wasn't done, oh no, he wasn't done at all.
Without even a second of respite, Dio would finally find himself on the receiving end of Kitt's energy charged fist, the punch straking him hard enough to halfway bury him into the ground, his body practically bending under the impact, the dragon barely having enough air left in him to let out a pained growl as whatever energy he had was quite literally punched out of him. In a quick flash of light Dio's body shrinked and changed back, the Dark Lord once again back to his impish form, small enough for Kitt's fist to almost be punching the entirety of his being.
Really, it was a miracle Dio was still even conscious. Halfway so, bruised, battered, struggling to breath and laying crumpled in a crater four times his size, sure. But conscious and alive all the same.
Panting, breathing heavily and painfully he would look up at the leomon standing above him. He could kill him and delete him right there and then if he so pleased, and there was nothing Dio could do about it. And he knew it. He didn't fear for his life however, something told him Kitt was not going to go that far just yet. He wasn't as far gone as he made himself out to be.
Slowly reaching out his hand he placed it against the large knuckles currently pinning him down and gave them a pat.
"I...knew you had it in you..." Dio muttered, his voice barely above a whisper, a strained smile forced out of him even though it was clear literally everything hurt. Yet there was something else, his smile breaking a bit as he blinked, his eyes looking brighter than usual. "Kitt I...I'm proud but...I'm sorry." For the second time that day his eyes would run with water, but even now it was clear it wasn't from the pain or the strain of his body, it was something else. "I thought...doing this would help you but...now I'm not so sure. I...I think I fucked up..."
As if this wasn't enough, Kitt would soon feel something on his back, two small cold scaly arms wrapping (or trying to) around him from behind.
"Please Mister Kitt..." The confused, unsure voice of Gio would cry out, but would stop just as fast. He didn't what to say. Or what he was feeling. Much less how to express it. He just didn't want Kitt to be this sad anymore.
