It didn't take a genius to notice that Amaranthus was starting to feel sick once again, and Skadi quickly took notice fairly quickly, her face falling in concern. Kenny, in turn, would follow suit as he and Skadi witnessed the Coordemon try to hold it all together. The Valaismon slowly approached Ammy and put a concerned hand on her, tugging at her coat lightly in a bid to grab her attention. "Ammy, are you OK?" She asked in concern.
Somehow, the human fortuneteller had, either directly or indirectly, been causing pain to her. And the fortuneteller merely shrugged it off like it was nothing. Whoever the fortuneteller was, she was most definitely not human, her appearance be damned. Nevertheless, Kenny and Skadi listened as she explained the circumstances of their situation; that a Digimon named Pajiramon ruled the domain, watching over them until they 'accepted their rest', as she put it.
A horrifying, if not surprising, realisation dawned over Kenny and Skadi; this was practically genocide at this point. And that ShimaUnimon had become one of the victims. And Alan, had he and Levi successfully departed from the group, would've fallen suit, as he put it. But Levi's words reaffirmed their stance, and why they were here in the first place. Skadi grinned in response, as she turned over to Alan, "See what we meant earlier? We need to stick together in order to survive. Thanks for not continuing to run off and endanger yourself earlier." Kenny nodded in agreement and gave Alan a thumbs up, making it incredibly clear that he had done good by the group by sticking with the team.
Still, they continued to listen to the fortuneteller's musings and words for any hints and clues. As it turned out, simply trying to fight back against the dream itself was a bad idea, as she hinted at what they needed to do in order to survive and reach the spire, and in turn, Pajiramon. And Alan had most likely quickly figured it all out; they needed to play dumb in order to survive, essentially playing by the rules, as the fortuneteller said.
Upon hearing Alan exclaim his idea, Kenny had a knowing smile upon his face, as well as Skadi, "That's... actually not a bad idea, Alan." Kenny told him, "You might be onto something there. When we were so focused on reaching the spire, this whole place started to screw with us, trying to mentally drain us to the core by putting everything on loop. And by playing dumb and copying the Gotsumon, we might just be able to reach the spire. Great thinking Alan, I think you might be fine fit for KIZNA someday." He crossed his arms knowingly, but he was sincere in his words. Skadi nodded excitedly too, at the prospect of him joining KIZNA someday. Now Alan knew the severity of the situation, and was now willing to work as a team.
But what about the other questions they needed to answer? Certainly, they had to ask her about something, or rather, someone. "Yeah, about Pajiramon," Kenny asked the mysterious fortuneteller, "When we get to them, what exactly can we expect from them. Surely, I think we may be able to talk them out of stopping this crazy dream and freeing everyone trapped inside, right?"
"Well, I hope so too, but I doubt it." Skadi was quick to point out, "Like I said earlier, this power is not only incredibly dangerous in the wrong hands, but also very valuable, and I doubt Pajiramon's gonna roll over and just give up the power willy-nilly, especially under the watchful eye of their boss, Belphmon, who most likely entrusted that power to them for a good reason. If we have to fight to free everyone, then so be it." Kenny nodded sadly. She had made a very good point, and lives were clearly at stake here. They knew they had to do something to save the day, all things considered.

Amaranthus was usually the type to be able to keep their cool even in more pressured situations... yet the way she was drawn to this woman unnerved her. Even as Skadi addressed her directly, she honestly couldn't pay much attention to them in the presence of this... person. "I... I'm fine." the Coordemon lied, though her attention was drawn primarily towards the woman.
It felt like talking to a mirror... one that heavily let on knowing more than their appearance suggested. The tanuki couldn't help but keep quiet, her breathing a tad slower as struggled to keep her cool... For once, Amaranthus was bothered by something... and she didn't bloody well knew why.
She didn't trust their mysterious compatriot, but they also did not seem to be actively antagonizing them... Hell, they even offered some sound advice and revealed the identity of their mystery mon. The moment they walked into this lair, they had fell into a trap that could have consumed them if they continued to try giving it their all... An ingenious trap indeed. Amaranthus herself was no stranger to the art of frustrating, and exhausting her foes... but here she was NOT in the puppetmaster role she enjoyed playing.
Kenny had a good heart... she could tell that if they could, they'd absolutely want to avoid bloodshed when possible. Still, this was a minion of a demon lord. A high-ranking one at that it seemed. The Coordemon sincerely doubted the proposition as a whole, though was mildly-impressed Skadi even seemed to defy that logic as well. "Kenny, you're a sweetheart... but surely you know that not everything in this world can be solved through just talkin'?" the Champion sadly mused, shaking her head... all the while trying to avoid eye-contact with their mysterious benefactor.
Even if they weren't their enemy... it didn't mean she had to like looking at them... Even if they WERE pretty. Still, she couldn't help but be curious just to who they were... and what were their words directed towards her for?
So the plan was just to play being lazy? She didn't know quite how much she wanted to mold to that logic, but hey... just walking there didn't seem like it was doing much, so why not? She held her tongue slightly, scruffing her own hair some to be a bit more unkempt... She was usually a bit mindful of her appearance, but Sloth wanted them to just give up on everything... no? "Well, we're not getting there JUST yet... I say we just kick back and relax, then see if we can find a way that will get ourselves further into the city. Personally, I'm in the mood for some burg... who here with me?"

The fortuneteller shook her head at Alan's observation. "Such is Belphemon's way. Of all the Demon Lords, he may be the most gifted in the art of the Catch-22," she said. "In general, to fight the Demon Lords directly is to play into their hands. Interaction on their own terms gives them power. Yet Sloth, the sin entirely defined by the balance of effort and a lack thereof? You simply cannot win pushing forward so blindly. But he succumbs to his sin just as strongly as he goads others towards it. Take advantage of his own unwillingness to put forth effort, and perhaps you can escape with your lives intact. Perhaps."
She arched an eyebrow as Alan and Kenny discussed their approach to the Spire. "It seems you've already taken my advice," she mused. "There's little chance Belphemon has the time or attention span to watch all of them go about their lives. Especially when, the easy way or the hard way, this dream is made to slowly ease them to an eternal rest. Blending in and playing along, while passively staving the dream off, may well be the key to survival."
While the fortune teller seemed to know a lot, she frowned slightly at the mention of Pajiramon. "I am but a visitor. I may share perspective with you, and weigh in on your choices, but I'm far from omnipotent," she admitted. "All I can tell you is that those who have visited before tell me he is a kind Digimon and a worthy leader. Consider that as you continue, but do remember that the priorities and perspectives of those in here may not be the same as yours."
It sounded like the team was about to depart, although there was some discussion as to whether their destination would be the spire or a few areas around town. "Time is of the essence. But what is time within a dream, really?" she asked. "Wherever you travel, may you have the best of fortune.
And if you are truly lost, or finding yourselves low on strength? I suppose you may call upon me. I may not intend on delving as deeply into the dream as you have, but I can understand if friends are hard to come by here. It may not be much, but I can only hope that my support helps." She leaned over the table and handed Alan what looked to be a blank tarot card. "Until then, I wish you luck. Farewell."
In the blink of an eye the fortune teller's hut would be gone. Kenny, Amaranthus, and Alan would find themselves back out in the cold. The gates of the city stretched up behind them, so high that they looked like they could touch the sun.

Alan blushed ever so slightly at Kenny's praise. He found himself extremely flattered, especially after having to be scolded by him but a few minutes ago. But... that name he mentioned...
"KIZNA?" repeated Alan. Having not known about Kenny and Skadi's new affiliation since they last met, the comment seemed to come out of the blue from his perspective. Levi asked the question for him: "Isn't that Hikaru's group? And Valt's?"
The boy and his dragon didn't have much more to do afterwards besides continue to listen, noting every possible detail and implication they could from the fortune teller's explanation.
"Firstly, it is an interesting point to use his own sin against him... but how? Perhaps we can start with learning more about the dream, its nature, and how it's maintained. The end goal is to make keeping all these poor souls captive a lot more trouble than its worth. And to do that... we'd have to know just how much trouble it is in the first place, and what makes them consider it to be WORTH anything!"
Naturally, the teller's claim that she was a "visitor" was both suspicious and somehow made her the most trustworthy person here. It crossed his mind that a promise of a common ally might be yet another one of the dream's "comforts," but what could he do but play along for now? The information all made sense. All they could do was trust her with that possibility in mind.
The information on Pajiramon confirmed little more than that Pajiramon was doing his job correctly. They could attempt to glean information from the townspeople all they wanted, but in the end, Alan assumed they wouldn't get a good read on his personality until meeting him in person, not that he wouldn't try to ask the townspeople beforehand.
At the end of all this, the Tamer was handed a blank card, seemingly to be used in case of emergencies. "Thank you very much, miss... we will use it if we needed, but rest assured we'll do our best to ensure it doesn't come to that. May the next time we meet be to thank you in person, yeah?"
After taking the card, they would all be returned to iteration one of the Pitiful City, which is a name Alan had come up with just now that he thought had a fitting ring to it, but would likely forget about it in a few minutes.
"Well then," he would start, "I vote to gather some more information before making another attempt. I agree with her:" The human motioned towards Amaranthus. "Let's try the place Mojyamon went into. He's probably our best lead for the time being, and might still be in there, especially if time means nothing here... might still want to turn down the food, though."

To put it bluntly, Kenny was, at his core, a honest man. When he said Alan would make a good fit for KIZNA, as he realised his mistakes, and was willing to learn and improve, he meant it (although when Skadi caught Alan blushing, she covered her mouth to try stifling her giggles. A few managed to slip out). He'd then follow up with a simple nod to confirm, that yes, he meant the group KIZNA.
Nevertheless, they would all listen further to mysterious fortuneteller giving her own answers to their observation; Belphmon, clever as he were by creating an ingenious trap like this, had quite the Achilles Heel, which, ironically enough, was his own laziness. And his own laziness was the only thing holding him back from keeping tabs on everyone. And Alan had a good idea how to stop it, all things considered.
"That's actually not a bad idea, Alan." Kenny noted, "Belphmon or Pajiramon must have quickly smelt a rat when we tried to reach the spire initially, mainly because we seemed to be the only ones actually struggling to put an end to this crazy dream, while the permafrost Gotsumon managed to get to where they wanted without a fight."
"Like we told you guys earlier," Skadi pitched in, "Belphmon's not dumb, but the fortuneteller's right. His own sin is completely holding him back from making him much more powerful than he already is. We do need to be a lot more careful from here on out, otherwise, we might as well just be banging pots and pans and encouraging Belphmon to simply waltz in here and kill us directly without a second thought."
On the topic on how to handle Pajiramon, Amaranthus herself had made a good, albeit unfortunate, point about trying to solve things peacefully, something which Kenny, having grown up by dealing with people who just refused to listen to him, understood a little too well, "Yeah, you're right, Ammy." He smiled sadly at his innocuous demonic friend, "I mean, I'm sure the only reason Archnemon fled after her attack on the Entertainment District was because she realised she was severely outnumbered god-knows-how-many to one. And lord knows I've tried talking a lot of times before, but they didn't listen to 'weirdos'", cue the air quotes, "like me 99% of the time." As he said it, he felt Skadi pat his leg in reassurance. He wanted to cry right there, but he knew he had to stay strong.
Then, his mind quickly thought back to the leadership meeting, as the fortuneteller gave vague, but important details on Pajiramon, and his status as a well-regarded leader and ruler, "But then again, when we meet Pajiramon, I suggest we simply err on the side of caution, and try not to cheese him off. But if push does comes to shove... well... to quote my leader, 'if we have to say 'screw you', might as well as make it the most epic 'screw you' ever delivered'." Kenny wasn't exactly much of a potty mouth, to be frank, and growing up with a dad who didn't take too kindly to his kid swearing practically made him this way.
With that, it was about time to leave, but it would be rude to leave without saying goodbye. Kenny gave a polite smile to the fortuneteller, "Um, thank you for helping us today, miss. At least we know what to do without falling into Belphmon's trap so easily."
"Yeah, thanks again for all your help!" Skadi waved happily to the fortuneteller, "We might've been dead without you! Sorry for ignoring you earlier, lady!" The fortuneteller, likewise, would let them get on their way, but not before handing Alan a mysterious blank tarot card, which quickly grabbed the attention of the two, approaching him to take a glance at it. Apparently, it was the only way to call upon her.
But before they could ask, everybody ended up back in the entrance without so much of a warning, surprisingly on their own two feet. After a moment, Skadi spoke up once more, "Well... that just happened." There were still many unanswered questions they had, and that was on the lady herself. Where did she come from? What was her real form? Why did Amaranthus react as she did to the fortuneteller? And how in the everloving hell she knew of their loved ones, including Kenny's own dead mum?
"Well, that's gonna be quite the interesting story to tell the grandkids, huh?" Kenny joked, hoping to throw a little more levity into the situation. Regardless of the joke's reaction, if it got any at all, he and Skadi quickly got wind of what Amaranthus was doing; loosening their own scarves a little in their own attempt to play dumb.
"I'm more of a fish and chips person myself," Kenny added in response to the Coordemon's comment, "But Alan's right. Mojyamon may be of big help to us if we go where he went. As for the food? Well, let's just see if it leads to any negative effects first before we take a bite. Don't want us to get too sick and hungry now, do we?"
And with that, he and Skadi would set off to where Mojyamon originally went himself way earlier, way before the encounter with the fortuneteller. As they walked along the snow, Skadi spoke up yet again, "I wonder how Mojyamon's doing right now. Hopefully he's still OK!"

Fortunately, the walk to the burger building wasn't nearly as endless as the walk to the central spire had been. In fact, Alan and Kenny arrived so quickly that it might have felt anticlimactic. This building was one of the better put together of the hovels, although it was still little more than a makeshift log cabin held together by string and tarps. Animated conversation, or at least animated by the standards of the City of Sloth, could be heard coming from inside, but no light passed through the holes that served as makeshift windows.
Opening the tarp that served as a door would reveal that there was no light inside of the building. Even moving the tarp did little more than shed some dim illumination, revealing a few packs of Digimon spread across four tables. The first table was home to a massive Vikaralamon, so big that he took up half of the building. His snout leaning against the table was big enough to make it tip over. While his breathing was slow and measured, his eyes darted around the room hungrily. Thankfully, he didn't notice any newcomers entering the room.
The other three tables were all on the other side of the room. One had a party of five Otamamon, each struggling to stay awake. Their table was piled high with plates, each filled to the brim with soups, curries, and noodle dishes that they didn't seem to be touching. The Gotsumon from earlier were seated at another table, the ice and snow still caked on them despite now being indoors. They grumbled quietly among each other, as if trying to keep their argument quiet. Finally, a Tapirmon sat at the last stable. While it didn't move a muscle, it turned its head to keep an eye on Kenny and Alan wherever they went.
A Crescemon took out new sets of glasses in the back of the restaurant, either not noticing or not caring about the many dirty glasses set on the counter beside her. Was she the proprietress of this establishment?
~~~~
In the distance, another duo would find themselves stirring back to consciousness. As they did, a voice as smooth as silk and as dangerous as leather trailed through their ears. "Try not to have too much fun without me," it said, trailing off and fading to nothingness. Of course, whatever the voice might have said, things didn't seem too fun for the time being. They had awoken in a grey, dismal version of the Northern Prominence that seemed to have stopped entirely. Snow hung in mid-fall, tree branches balanced in mid-break, and despite having just laid against the ground they would see that their bodies left no imprint. Thick masses of bare trees surrounded them from behind, and open snow stretched before them to reveal a small city far off in the distance. From this distance it looked peaceful, almost cozy.
The peacefulness promptly broke as a sound between a howl and a moan crept through the trees. It was low, undulating, and most importantly laced with hunger.
Were there always footprints surrounding them?
John and his Viximon, Runa, where sitting in their hotel room in Snowflake Village, they had been enjoying a nice day of snowboarding and combat training. The two of them where relaxing with some nice hot chocolate, talking about various things. "So I think that we should have a game night next week, you know get some snacks, some coffee, and just spend the weekend in the dorms." John suggested as Viximon took a sip of her coco. "Hmm, not a bad idea, but shouldn't you spend some time studying? Your grades are starting to fall a bit." Runa countered, to which John dismissed. "It's fine, I'll just study a bit longer at the end of the night on the week days." He said, taking a big gulp of his drink. "Ah yeah, nothing helps your grades more then disrupting your sleep schedule, good plan." She snarked, to which John rolled his eyes.
As he was about to make a retort, someone knocked at their door, the two of them looked at each other. "Did you order anything else from room service?" Runa asked, John shook his head, walking to the door he asked, "Who is it?"
That was the last thing the two of them remembered as they where stirring from their slumber, Runa was curled up on his chest as they got up from the ground. She hopped off as John rose to his feet, he stretched as the two of them looked around at their surroundings. "Well, stuck in the middle of a snowy forest, this feels familiar." He said, Runa looks at someone on the ground, shaking them with her stubby little paws. "Hey, wake up, this isn't a great place to nap." She said, shaking them as best as she could.
John looked down at the ground, and notices how odd it is that there wasn't an outline where he slept, It then dawned on him how the snow is seemingly frozen in mid-air. "Hey Runa, there's something odd about this snow." He said, reaching to some floating snow to poke it. Just then, unsettling noises are heard from somewhere, John and Runa fall silent as they looked around the area, getting in a ready stance in case they're attacked. The two of them then notice some foot prints in the ground, unsure as to why they're the only indents in the snow.
Much to Kenny and Skadi's (inner) amazement, they actually managed to reach the apparent burger joint in a ridiculously short amount of time, and when the group entered, it was quite the interesting sight to behold. Fittingly enough for the City of Sloth, the overall tone present inside, from what they could register, was pretty quiet and subdued, not quite far off the mark all things considered. Still, they had to keep playing dumb, so upon entry, the both of them would wave to greet the others inside.
Plenty of the patrons there weren't exactly doing much, but Kenny did note a few interesting sights in front of him as he spotted a few figures dotted around, "Hey, isn't that the Gotsumon from way earlier?" He said a little quietly, as Skadi turned to take a glance at them as well.
"Seems to be. They don't really sound too happy, to be honest." She replied. Just what were they going on about, anyways? The rest of the patrons seemed a lot more content among their own brethren, making the Gotsumon stand out like a sore thumb. Well, them and the Tapirmon silently observing them. The duo had spotted this suspicious Digimon during their initial observation, but decided not to dwell on it.
Still, an interesting thought had entered Kenny's mind; Tapirmon normally had the ability to devour dreams and trap opponents in nightmares, not too dissimulator to fellow dream-weaver Pajiramon. And frankly? All signs so far pointed to the the magic mammal being the giant sheep's mook, meant to keep tabs on the others. The words of the fortuneteller still rang in their heads; Belphmon was just too lazy to keep track on everybody, so maybe save discussion for later, when it was safe?
Regardless, Kenny and Skadi would approach the Crescemon as casually as possible, the man's hands in his pockets to (seemingly) keep warm, and the Valaismon slightly trailing behind in turn, in a bid to keep up the casual charade. Quickly, Kenny cleared his throat and spoke up to the rabbit Digimon, "Excuse me, ma'am, are you the owner of this restaurant? We just come from out here, and we really need something to eat as soon as possible. We're kinda starving."
"And we've been getting a little lethargic too." Skadi chimed in, faking a yawn, "Do you have a table open for us today, miss?" Hopefully, their acting here so far didn't raise too much of an eyebrow for Tapirmon, and if everything went well, what with Alan and Levi taking the hint and playing along, they would blend in effortlessly.
Alan pulled his sweatshirt's black hood over his head, letting the shadow fall over his eyes. From here on out, Alan would have to lay low, and trust Kenny, Levi, and Skadi, and, in the worst-case-scenario, trust in Cherubimon. It almost seemed silly to him how much he was acting out earlier until he glimpsed the interior of the sad excuse for a dining hall. From his point of view, it was nothing but appalling, and he fought himself so that he would keep quiet.
But as much as it was appalling, it was also a huge contradiction. At least, depending on how you looked at it. Some lighting would help spend less effort in the process of dining, yet the building was almost totally dark. Then again, that contradiction was a known character trait of sloth - sloth wasn't interested in less work later if it meant more work now. Sloth wasn't interested in more enjoyment later if it meant more work now. Sloth would do what was easy, even if it meant what was easy is dying. In the end, this would be sloth's downfall. Even so...
Where does the food come from if the people too lazy to eat it?
Surely it wasn't simply magicked up, if everything could be made from thin air, the people of this town would be living in much better conditions. This all kept in line with what the fortune teller had said. At one point, the human made eye contact with the Tapirmon. He looked at them for a while, feigning complicity by pretending he simply couldn't be bothered to follow social norms and not stare. He'd look away when he damn well felt like it. If it was hard for him to play along, the best thing to do would be to barely play at all. Slightly hunched, Alan added onto Kenny's greetings to the Crescemon by at first muttering, only consonant sounds sneaking through his lips "T-... b-... f-... f-..." Darn, it seems this farther-gone façade would have to put in some voice in order to be understood. Ugh, fine:
"...Table four.... four. Table for four."
Beat.
"...p....please."
Researcher's Log - Site 1 of 6 in Zone 2, Northern Prominence
Snowflake Village has been kind to a young Spirit User like myself. It's enough of a treat to go through the different parts of the settlement and observe how people live here, it was a real cinch to get them to go along with my questions and curiosities. Almost too easy...I know everyone in either worlds isn't going to be as enthusiastic about data points and investigation as I am, but some of them out there looked as affected by the cold as I was...and they live here. Thankfully though, they do make space in plenty of inns for people just like me; tons of inn rooms where I can stay warm and comfy throughout my stay. It isn't enough for me to recommend a trip here as a Bastemon yet, especially considering her...distinctive lack of layers to say the least. That's why I've gotten more familiar with my normal form here. As a personal aside, I don't think I'd ever recommend the prominence for myself...the cold's never given me any good memories. Reminds me of plenty of bad ones too. Luckily, it'll be easy enough to forget all that once I tuck in for the night. Before I go...I should put in a quick note to self; Carpal Tunnel is a very human thing, and this D-Terminal seems like the perfect way to get it.
Sho could feel that last line in his hands as he cranked it out from his D-Tector's terminal and diligently saved twice, no, three times. You never know when you can lose all your work...especially in a time of distress. But for now, he was feeling just as comfy and dry as he expressed on the log, seated cross-legged in a cozy room of the nearest inn he could find. There were several reasons he was partial to this travelling project, with one of them most probably being how much it lent itself to fruitful sleep after being outside watching, talking, and reporting for most of the day. Oh, won't you shut that window? You'll freeze to death sleeping in these conditions. That is, if his spirit had any interest in that happening whatsoever. Begrudgingly, he got up from his seat and shut the window so fast that he barely felt a lick of chill, sighing as he withdrew back to his bedside. Now, with his hand on the light switch, he was finally able to get ready for bed. Please give me some peaceful rest...for once...please. He silently pleaded, all before hitting the switch and quickly being enveloped in the darkness of the room.
~
There was a haze around his eyes. A numbness in his fingers. The murmur of wind in his ears. And the freezing feeling of compacted snow all over the front of his body as he laid in a part of the prominence he was convinced he'd never been before. He had to be dreaming...He didn't even remember getting into bed! But...Just in case it wasn't, Sho threw himself up out of the snow, shaking the flakes off his clothes and skin. There's the beat I know~ Always the quickest to right himself. He wasn't sure how much of his spirit's doting had rested in his brain. For now he was scanning his environment, turning and looking around several times over. Surrounded by footprints...a strange message streaming through his brain...and...one other person with their partner! After beginning to clutch himself with his hands and arms, he began to near the other kid, his own brown hair beginning to blow over his askew half-rimmed glasses. "Hey...Hello? Do...Do you know where we are?" Sho stammered, almost feeling like his lips were going to freeze over at any moment.
The Crescemon shrugged as Alan and Kenny approached, turning away from the mass of dirty dishes behind her. Even as a Gotsumon put another few on the pile, she didn't pay them any mind. "Someone's gotta, I guess," she said, shrugging. "I just kinda found it like this. That's how most stuff around here gets done, you know? We all just try to get by." Nevertheless, they needed food right this second, and there didn't seem to be enough tables for them. All of them were taken currently, especially with Vikaralamon taking up half of the damn room.
At least Crescemon was able to help. She held up a finger, motioning that she needed a second, then ducked behind the counter. After a brief struggle she popped back up, handing Alan and Kenny a table for the two of them to hold onto. "Here you go. Set it up wherever you want," she said, clearly too lazy to do any table-setting herself. There were chairs lining the walls, at least, so Alan and Kenny wouldn't have to do too much standing today. "Your food should get there once you're all set up. Til then, just be patient, k?" With that she turned her attention back to the new glasses she had just finished setting out, complementing them with a set of brand new plates. Wherever Alan or Kenny brought their table, the nearby Digimon would turn their attention to them. The restaurant was just a tad too small for them to dine in peace and quiet.
Say, wasn't there supposed to be a Mojyamon here? Did he already leave?
~~~~
In a perfect world, John and Sho would've had some time to talk each other through this situation. They'd be able to introduce themselves to each other, discuss the frozen dreamscape they had awoken in, and maybe even mentioned the charming demonic centaur that sent them on a detour to dreamland. If they were able to plan their way out of this situation, that would be even better!
Unfortunately, this wasn't a perfect world. And doubly unfortunately, any conversation Sho and John tried to strike up with one another was promptly interrupted by a whistle from above. Mere seconds after the whistling faded, a massive spear of ice landed between the two of them. It didn't seem intended to actually hit the duo. It was positioned too perfectly between them to be an accidental miss. The spear was twice as tall as either human, and was nearly as thick as they were. If they were to examine it closely they would notice that it flared out at the base, almost as if it was a crossbow bolt.
There wouldn't be much time to investigate, however. Not very long after the first spear fell, another five whistles cut through the air. These sounded a touch more distant, but if the last spear was any indication standing around was a very poor idea.

Post by Kenny O'Hara and Skadi on Nov 6, 2019 8:59:59 GMT
Much to Kenny and Skadi's surprise, somehow Crescemon pulled out a table from the counter and handed it to the 2 humans. Unsurprisingly however, she wasn't exactly willing to help them out put out the table itself. Regardless, Kenny simply nodded and said "Thank you." He then turned over to Alan and whispered, just enough so Tapirmon (hopefully) could not hear him, "...I think we should set this table near the Gotsumon. They might be able to help us."
Whenever Alan and/or Levi agreed to the plan or not, they would lug the table over as close as they reasonably could and set it near the permafrost-ridden rockmen. All the while, Skadi would be on the lookout for Mojyamon, glancing around to see where he might have been, or even if he was still here. She knew that Tapirmon was probably still watching them, so she knew not to call out to them, lest she draw far more attention to the group. Hopefully he was still hanging around here.
After setting down the table, and then taking a seat, Kenny made sure he sat as close to the Gotsumon as possible, hoping to listen in on their conversation, possibly gleaming some important information, while Skadi still gleamed the area, hoping to spot Mojyamon somewhere. With both of them settled, Kenny started to make conversation, partially to learn what Alan had been up to, partially to lower suspicion Tapirmon may have had, and even possibly listen to what the Gotsumon had to say.
"Well, since we have some time to ourselves right now, I guess I better tell you what I've been up too since we've last met." He started, "Just a few months ago, me and Skadi actually managed to join KIZNA, one of the biggest organisations in the Digital World. And if you're wondering about how we joined, well," He started to chuckle a little, "...it's a funny story, really. Would you like to hear it, you guys?" It was a very interesting story to be sure, but hopefully Alan would catch on to Kenny's true motives and play along as planned.

Post by John Jourdain on Nov 8, 2019 1:30:31 GMT
Runa and John had no time to explain, as when they where about to start they saw the spear like object land between them. John and Runa stared at it, then at each other, then up in the air. " So you think plan R?" John said to Runa, " That seams like the best option." She said, they nod, and both book it to the town they saw, all while John yelled " CITY'S THIS WAY, GUY!" Runa ran up to John and climbed up his leg, making her way up to his shoulder. This slowed him down slightly, but he compensated for the change in weight quickly. "What have we got Runa, you see what fired the spears?" He asked, as he focused on getting to the town as quickly as he could, Runa scanned the area for whoever fired them. "Not yet, also from what I saw about the first one, it looks more like an arrow."
John didn't like the sound of that. "So if that's the case, whoever fired that is pretty big, right?" he reasoned, getting Runa to nod. "Great," He sighed "How did we even get here?!" He asked her, "All I remember is answering that door." He said, Runa just shrugged. "That's all I recall too, I think some digimon asked us to do... something, whatever that something was we need to figure out later." She said as she focused on finding the attacker, and telling John when to change course to avoid the big arrows.

Sho wanted an answer to his question. Instead, he got a spear of ice piercing the ground right in front of his face, blowing a gust of snow and wind in his face from its sheer speed. It was more than a little strange to feel his blood turn to ice from the fear, but to only stare ahead without screaming. Usually things like this tore his lungs out of his chest, but maybe he'd grown familiar, because his legs were already scrambling to run him forward. His hands leapt to his satchel, retrieving his D-Tector while he ran, desperately ran along through the trees and forest to follow the pair in the direction they pointed in. But it was all too slow...no...they needed to get out of here now. Sho took a short breath as he began to catch up, looking over to them with a small shout from his mousey voice. "Hop on!" He called. But from a scrawny kid like him, that suggestion sounded completely ridiculous. At least, while it was coming from a scrawny kid in a school uniform. Once his digivice got anywhere near his wrist, he seemed to disappear, completely enveloped in digicode that took on a hot pink glow...all before it burst open, revealing a Griffomon, galloping forth with its talons and paws and with its snapping snake tail whipping past as it ran. "Come on, before I start lifting off! Do you want to be a crushed snowball?!" The Griffomon crowed, cawing and calling with its metal beak as it paced itself for the pair to make the leap.

A pathetic hovel of a restaurant, it was, where plates piled higher than the combined passions of everyone expected to be in the room, and customers set up their own tables, regardless of how much energy to do so they claimed to have. None of them were given the honor of choice when their tables were foist upon them by the mon at the counter. It was suggested that the intrepid party set up their table near the group of Gotsumon. "It sounds like a good idea," said Alan, rubbing his eyelid with one hand, forcing a yawn through manipulation of the back of his throat. Afterwards, he yanked down the black hood of his sweatshirt, to conceal his face as he strained it into a grimace. It wasn't that he was getting tired; it was only a precautionary measure that ensured that all of his muscles were regularly checked for the ability to put in effort.
Once Alan and Levi had both settled themselves in seats, gentle smiles would once again grace their faces. They truly were curious about what had happened with Kenny and Skadi since they had first met, but of course they hadn't forgotten about why they were really here. Nevertheless, Alan responded with, "I'm very curious indeed about all that. I can tell you've grown a lot... and... it's making me realize that I've grown so little... I thought we were secured as your seniors but you've already gone and passed us up! I'm not saying it's a bad thing, though."
Levi would pipe in with his own addition to this, keeping as quiet as their eavesdropping demanded. "I'll say! The way you carry yourselves now, I had a sudden urge to ask to be tutored... not in anything in particular. So yeah, what happened?"
