Yuko's astonishment was funny to Unica. The colorful teen was trying so hard to convince the young girl to change her clothes, but the moment she was met with any form of refusal, she was taken aback. It was comical. Unica giggled and shook her head as the teen continued trying to convince her to take a shower and wear something that wasn't completely covered in sea water and sand. "No!" Unica laughed, "No!" Her high-pitched, carefree giggles were contagious, and a few nearby Digimon chuckled in response to how happy she sounded. This was probably not the reaction Yuko had expected, but as long as she didn't physically force Unica or yell at her, a little parenting wasn't enough to upset the young girl.
It was only when Yuko fell silent that Unica did too, suddenly distracted by getting the sand off her hands. Within a matter of seconds, however, a shadow was cast over her small form. A voice spoke up, commenting on how bored she looked before it offered to provide her with some quality entertainment. Unica glanced up to find a strangely dressed man standing over her. Though he looked like a court jester, what with his colorful outfit and easily recognizable cap, Unica immediately made an association with something slightly different, albeit related. "You're a clown!" she exclaimed, her eyes wide and shimmering with wonderment.
Though Yuko scolded her partner for scaring Unica, the Jokermon dismissed her concerns by saying that children loved clowns. While this may have been a foolish assumption on his part, he was correct in thinking Unica wouldn't be frightened. In fact, she was fascinated by the individual in front of her. With mouth slightly agape in awe, Unica allowed the stranger to pick up her. She squealed with excitement when it happened. "Hello, I'm Unica!" she chimed. Her happy-go-lucky demeanor gave way to surprise and curiosity when the stranger asked if she liked magic. With a tiny gasp, she nodded frantically and said, "Yes! My daddy finds money in my ears!" She was, of course, referring to the old coin-behind-the-ear trick, but she was convinced it was real magic. She wondered what sort of magic this strange man could do.

“Nice to meet you, Unica. You may call me Jokah-sama, the greatest clown that ever clowned!” Jokermon said in response to the girl’s cheerful greeting. “Put the child down, or I’m calling the cops, you hear me?!” His Tamer warned him, getting up and glaring daggers at him.
The Clown Prince smirked deviously. “Oh, Yuko! The kid just wants to see some magic tricks. There’s nothing illegal about that.” He replied, letting Unica down, and rubbing Yuko’s back, who angrily slapped his hand away. “So, your ears are filled with money? Is that so? Well, can’t hurt to take a look~” He reached his gloved hand behind the little girl’s ear and looked around, as it were. “Huh. I think I’ve found something, but I don’t think it’s money. It feels too soft…” He drew his hand back, which was now holding the upper part of a bikini. “Young lady, what’s this doing inside your ear?! You are way too young to wear this!” The jester cried out in a shrill voice.
Yuko squinted her eyes. “Wait… that’s MY bikini!” She looked down, her face instantly blushing so hard she looked like a tomato. “GIVE THAT BACK!!” The teenager yelled, snatching her bikini top back from the clown’s hand and putting it back on fast enough to do the censors’ job for them.
While she was frantically trying to tie the straps behind her back, Jokermon chuckled and pulled a deck of cards out of thin air, spreading them out and holding them in front of Unica. “Hohoho! Now, pick a card. Any card will do, but you can’t show it to anyone.”

A more wise, a more mature, or a more cautious child might have been hesitant to trust such a strange-looking individual. Such a child would've almost certainly be skeptical of the jester Digimon upon hearing the panicked way Yuko spoke to him. And such a child would've undoubtedly found a problem with the way he stripped his teenager tamer's clothes off at an attempt at a magic trick. But Unica was not so wise, mature, or cautious. She was naive, unexperienced, and trusting, and that would perhaps be her downfall one day. As far as she was aware, this "Jokah-sama" was a hilarious clown who made her laugh with funny words and by pulling lady's underwear out of her ear instead of money. This guy was so silly and so random, a fact which struck Unica as comedy gold.
The girl was laughing in a fit of joy when Jokah-sama pretended to scold her for being "too young to wear this" while displaying Yuko's bikini top. It was magic and such a large, strangely shaped object was in her ear! How hadn't she been able to feel that? Unica thought there was no harm in what she was experiencing, though had she realized where the bra came from, she may have been a bit more shocked. She didn't think the trick through that much; rather, she didn't think it through until she heard Yuko begin to speak. The teen once again yelled at her partner, this time for stealing her bikini. As she did, she desperately tried shielding her bare chest from onlookers. Unica turned her attention to the teen upon hearing this and let out a gasp of surprise at what she saw.
There was no time to gawk, however, as Jokah-sama had another trick up his sleeve! This time, it had something to do with the deck of cards he summoned out of thin air. He splayed out the cards face down and displayed them in front of Unica, telling her to pick "a card, any card," but to not show it to anyone. The young girl giggled again and reached out her right hand. Her large, blue eyes darted across the backs of the playing cards, uncertain which one she ought to pick. "Um..." she mused aloud as she considered her options. "This one," she began, grabbing one of the more hidden cards between her thumb and index finger.
She pulled it toward her a few centimeters before letting go and retracting her hands to her chest. "No, wait!" she gasped, flapping her arms excitedly and shifting her weight from one leg to the other with anticipation. She wanted to pick the perfect card, but she wasn't sure which one that was. Without wasting a moment longer, she reached out and grabbed a different card, one that stuck out a bit farther than the rest. "Okay," she mumbled to herself as she pulled it free from the stack. She brought her hands close to her face before turning the card over and glancing at it, doing her best to keep its contents concealed from Yuko. Three of diamonds. "I like this one," Unica announced as she lowered her hands again.

Well, at least SOMEONE was having a good time! Yuko was mad, and would make sure to get payback at the perverted clown in some way. For the time being, she let him resume his wacky magic show, as long as it kept Unica entertained. Next up was the old ‘pick one card’ routine. She had seen some variations of it, but she wasn’t sure what kind of twist Jokermon would add to it.
“Very good! Let me have that now…” The jester took the card from the girl’s hands, keeping it turned on its back, so that neither he nor Yuko could see its content. “Now to shuffle it back aaaaand…” He put the card back into the deck, shuffling it at speeds too fast for the human eye to fully process, sending cards flying from one hand and landing on his other in a perfect stack. “Voila!”
“Hold on, I wanna make sure that you didn’t cheat.” The Tamer said, grabbing the deck from Jokermon’s gloved hands and cutting it, before giving it back to him. “Go on.” “Alright… Was it this one?” The Demon King revealed the top card, which was a Four of Spades. “Maybe this one? This one? This one? This one? How about this one?” He continued to turn each card, until the entire deck had been revealed. Yet, not a single card would be the one Unica had picked.
“Hmmmm… Where could it be?” Jokah pondered, lifting his hat and scratching his head. A card fell out of his hat and landed on the child’s lap… It was the Three of Diamonds. “Well, I’ll be! Is this your card, Ms. Unica?”

Unica eagerly handed over the card when Jokah-sama asked for it back. He took it with a smile and quickly shuffled it back into the deck, so quickly that Unica started getting dizzy just trying to keep up with him. In a matter of seconds, he had a perfect, orderly stack balanced in the palm of his hand. Unica gasped and applauded, not really sure what she was cheering for, but she had been impressed by his display of speed, so she thought it was appropriate to let him know how much she enjoyed it with some applause. She continued to watch in awe as Yuko grabbed the deck from her Digimon, pulled it apart, and slid the top half underneath the rest. Jokah-sama didn't say anything and simply sat back, allowing his partner to do as she wised. Unica thought it was part of the act and giggled.
When the Digimon got his cards back, he showed the top card to Unica and asked if that had been her card. Disappointment crossed over her face as she looked at the four of spades. "No," she replied, shaking her head and glancing back up at Jokah-sama's face. He must've made a mistake. Or maybe Yuko's involvement had messed up his trick somehow. The jester showed another card, this one a queen of hearts, and asked if it was hers. Unica frowned. Well, this was disappointing. "Not that one," she said. Jokah-sama showed another card, once again asking if it was Unica's.
Before the girl could even answer, Jokermon pulled another card, as if knowing the one he had just displayed was incorrect. He picked up the pace, though he made sure to go slow enough for the young tamer to see each of them. As they got through the stack, it became ever apparent to Unica that none of them were going to be the three of diamonds. It seemed as though Jokah-sama wasn't magic after all. He wondered aloud where the card could be, and Unica shrugged. "I don't have it," she said, as though he had been implying that she was hiding it from him. Puzzled by where the correct card could be, the Digimon removed his hat and scratched the top of his head. When he did, a stray card fell out.
"Look!" Unica exclaimed, reaching out and snatching it from midair. The moment she turned the card over, she realized it was the same one they'd been looking for, the three of diamonds. One final time, Jokah-sama asked if that was hers. "Yes!" she laughed, "It was in your hat!" The way she giggled and spoke made it sound like she didn't understand that this was part of the trick. To her, it seemed like the trick had failed because he had misplaced her card by putting it into his hat. That sure was a silly place for a card to be, she thought to herself. Regardless, she found Jokah-sama's performance amusing, a fact which was very apparent by her ceaseless laughing.

The Japanese delinquent narrowed her eyes at the so-called ‘magic trick’. “It’s probably pointless to ask, but how did you do that?” The flamboyant jester smiled widely and wagged his finger in front of her. “Ah ah ah… A good magician-” “Never reveals his tricks, yeah I thought so.” Yuko cut him off. She wasn’t sure exactly how Jokermon had done this, but she assumed it had something to do with his quick hands. If he had managed to undress her without her even noticing, he could totally hide a card inside his hat. Then again, it could also be real magic. Digimon were supernatural, after all.
Regardless of how it was actually done, his was a rather silly magic show, yet it had managed to bring so much joy to the little girl. The sight of her rejoicing was heartwarming enough to make Yuko’s ice queen heart melt in an instant, as she smiled and patted Unica’s head. “He’s pretty fun, huh? How about that shower now? If you become a clean girl, Mr. Jokah will show you one last magic trick, and then you can go back home. Your mom and dad might get worried if you’re gone for too long, you know?” The pierce-faced girl suggested, hoping that she would have better luck at convincing her than she had earlier.

Unica really shouldn't have expected anything different. The Digimon was the fun one, and Yuko was the motherly one. As the parental figure of the group, it made sense that she'd take the fun out of things by asking if Unica was ready for a shower. The young girl's laughter faded and was replaced by a rather comical pout. She stuck out her bottom lip, crossed her arms over her chest, rose her shoulders up to her ears, and scowled at the colorful teen. She giggled a few times, making it known that whatever disapproval she felt was subpar in comparison to the giddiness she was still experiencing, due in part to Jokermon's performance.
Picking up on the girl's refusal to get clean, Yuko tried bribing her with another of Jokah-sama's tricks. Unica glanced at the Digimon to see what he had to say in response to the teen's proposal, but she ultimately glanced back at the strange-haired woman who was still speaking. She claimed that Unica's parents might be getting worried if she was gone for too long, something that the young girl considered for a moment before shaking her head. It's not like she'd be gone forever, she told herself. Her parents would be fine in the meantime. "No! I wanna swim," she exclaimed.
Unica had regained some energy while watching Jokah-sama's magic trick unfold, and so she wished to go back in the water. No longer exhausted and in no mood to hear any more of Yuko's bathing requests, Unica turned and dashed back into the ocean. She ggigled loudly the moment a wave crashed into her chest, sending spray into her face and soaking her tiny form in salt water. After catching her breath and wiping some water from her face, Unica turned around and motioned for her two new friends to join her. "Come on, Jokah-sama!" she hollered, unable to remember Yuko's name.

There was that childish pout again! Yuko really thought she had her this time, but despite her attempts at reasoning with her and even trying to bribe her, Unica was insistent on not showering. Before the older Tamer could even object, the stubborn tyke ran back to the ocean. “Hey, come back! You’re gonna stink if you don’t take a shower! STIIIIIIINK!!!” She yelled at her as she ran away. She may had acted kinda motherly, but Yuko was still a 16 year old girl. It only made sense that she would act like a child too sometimes.
In the end, the multicolor-haired teenager sighed and rushed back into the water too, quickly catching up to Unica. “Oi, Jokah! Aren’t you coming?” She called back to the still land-dwelling clown. “Perish the thought! Do you have any idea how expensive this suit is?” Jokermon replied, pointing at his garish outfit. “Come ooooon! She even called you Jokah-sama!” Yuko insisted. “No!” The jester stubbornly said, pouting and crossing his arms in front of his chest, much like Unica had done earlier.
The Japanese delinquent frowned in slight irritation, but that frown soon turned into a subtle smirk. Perhaps she could use Unica’s playful attitude against him. “Hey, kid. Come here…” She gestured for the little girl to come closer, before leaning down and whispering to her ear. “I’ve got an idea to make Jokah swim with us. I need you to distract him and get him to come a little closer.”

Unica giggled and squealed so loudly when Yuko teased her about stinking that her face was starting to go red. She was laughing so hard that she was forgetting to breathe. She inhaled sharply, exaggerating the act by making a loud gasping noise as she did. The sound was so goofy to her that it caused her to laugh even more. Many nearby Digimon chuckled in response to her uncontrollable giddiness, unable to resist the contagiousness of her laughter. It was so light, carefree, and playful that many of the beach-goers couldn't help but feel happy too. Some Digimon may have found the loud, high-pitched giggling annoying, but said Digimon were in the minority.
Unica clapped her hands and splashed Yuko a few times when the teen returned to the water, but she stopped when she realized Jokah-sama hadn't come. It was about that time that she turned and hollered for the Digimon to join them. He didn't move, so Yuko tried, asking if he was coming. He scoffed in disapproval and cited his expensive outfit for being the reason he didn't want to get wet. That raised a few questions: were the clothes a part of a Digimon's body or did they actually wear clothes? Unica didn't think about it for too long, her train of thought interrupted by Yuko and Jokermon's bickering.
Unica frowned at nearly the same time as Yuko. Why was Jokah-sama being the boring one now? Just as the young girl was about to give up all hope of getting the Digimon to go swimming, someone called out to her. Unica glanced to the side to see Yuko motioning for her to come over. The young tamer's frown suddenly turned into a playful smile, and she waded through the water, stopping once she was directly beside the teenager. Yuko bent down a little and began whispering into Unica's ear. She claimed that she had an idea to make Jokah-sama go swimming, but she needed Unica to distract him and get him a little closer to the water.
"Okay!” Unica giggled quietly, turning to the jester Digimon and instantly pausing. What could she do to draw him nearer? She had already tried the classic strategy of just asking him to come to her, and that had failed. He was about three or four steps from the edge of the waves. Getting him to get any closer would take some real clever strategizing. "Jokah-sama!" she called out, cupping her hands around her mouth to make sure her voice carried. She took a few steps forward, standing near the precipice of the shore and positioned in such a way that only the bottoms of her feet were still submerged. Surely Jokermon wouldn't mind getting this close, right? He could easily stand in front of her without getting wet.
"I want another magic trick, please!" she called out, clapping her hands together to show her eagerness. To Jokah-sama, it might have looked like this was Unica's idea of a compromise between swimming and hanging out with him. If he approached her but stayed on the sand then he'd be able to stay dry, she'd be able to stay wet by standing in the ocean, and they'd be in arm's reach of one another for another magic trick. If they met each other halfway on this then both would be happy, right? The truth was that Unica hadn't thought her idea through that much. She just knew that Jokermon liked magic tricks, and Yuko wanted him to get close to the water. Who knew if he'd fallen for it, though.

Jokah blinked his single visible eye in confusion when the young child called his name. “Hmm? What is it, Ms. Unica?” The egocentric jester asked, as he walked closer to the shore without even realizing it, tragically unaware of the greater plan that had already been set in motion. “Hmmmmm? You wanna see another magic trick? I’m not sure if that’s allowed…” He said skeptically. After all, Unica had yet to take a shower. “Oh, who am I kidding! The Demon King doesn’t follow anybody’s rules! What kind of-”
“UNICA-CHAN, DUCK!” Yuko roared from the distance, having snuck out of the water while the duo were distracting each other. She charged the mad clown with all of her might, hitting him on the back with the full weight of her 42 kilogram body. “LUNATIC TACKLE!!!” “EEEEYAAAAAAAAAHH!!!!” Jokermon let out a loud, womanly shriek, as the force from Yuko’s new signature attack knocked his stick figure body off balance, causing him to fall face-first into the shallow waters in quite the comical manner.
Granted, the Japanese delinquent also fell into the water in the process, but she couldn’t care less. As she rose up and pulled her wet hair out of her face, she started laughing like she was having the time of her life. “Hahahahahahaha!! Holy shit, dude! You should see your face right now!” Jokermon’s expression was definitely not one of amusement. He was very humiliated and very wet. So wet was he, that his jester hat had gotten heavier from the water, its two floppy horns sagging in front of his face.

The moment Yuko screamed at Unica to duck, she obeyed by crouching down and hugging her knees. She watched as Yuko and Jokermon flew by in a blur overhead, splashing into the ocean behind her and sending water spraying in all directions. Unica stood up and turning around in time to see Yuko standing up in the water, pulling her hair to the side, and laughing at the Digimon for the ridiculous expression on his face. Unica giggled too -- that is, until she turned to look at Jokah-sama. He looked ashamed and upset, his droopy hat only adding to his pitiful appearance. Unica's smile vanished in an instant and her face went hot and red with guilt. She hadn't meant to make him so upset. Did this make her a bad friend?
"I-I- You- I'm sorry. It-It was funny," she whimpered, taking a few hesitant steps closer to the Digimon. She wasn't sure what the right answer was. She wanted to apologize, but she also wanted to explain how they were just playing around and didn't mean any harm. "I wanted... You should've... Jokah-sama," she said, hiccuping unsteady breaths between each phrase as she tried to compose herself. She wasn't crying, but she was certainly upset, a fact which was obvious by the way she hugged herself for comfort. "I-I'm sorry, I thought it... it was gonna be funny," she explained slowly, stopping directly in front of the jester before reaching out both hands to help him up. She was so short that she wouldn't have been able to do much, but she was determined to try.

Jokermon pulled the floppy tips of his hat back, revealing that his face had gotten pretty wet as well, giving both his eye shadow and his lipstick a running makeup effect that made him look like he had jumped straight out of a certain Christopher Nolan movie. “It’s not your fault, child. Great geniuses are always misunderstood…” The jester said in a noticeably less jovial and energetic tone, as he held Unica’s tiny hands and slowly rose from the shallow waters. “How unfair, how sad. Oh, let this tragic clown weep alone. Boohoo…” He cried obvious crocodile tears, before using his teleportation ability to vanish from view.
“Well, shit…” Yuko frowned at the clown’s abrupt exit. She didn’t want Unica to get upset or think that this was her fault, especially since she seemed to have somehow taken a liking to Jokermon. “Hey kid, don’t worry about him. He’s just being a drama queen. He’ll probably get over it eventually. So, don’t make a long face. You wanted to play in the water, didn’t you? You can play with me! I’m fun too, aren’t I?” The delinquent smiled comfortingly, while patting the little girl’s shoulder.

For a moment, when Jokermon took Unica's hands and made a comment about how great geniuses were misunderstood, all seemed well. However, that belief was demolished the moment he sobbed fake tears and vanished. The young tamer's eyes went wide and she glanced around her surroundings in horror. She didn't mean to scare him off. "Oh, no," she whimpered, her bottom lip quivering as she looked back at where Jokah-sama had once been. "I-I-I didn't mean to," she sniveled, tears pricking the corners of her eyes as she turned to the teenager for support. She was looking for comfort of some kind. Any kind.
Yuko told Unica not to worry about Jokah-sama, claiming he was just being dramatic and that he'd "probably get over it." Probably? "Probably" wasn't "definitely." Unica's lip quivered more. She didn't want her new friend to be upset with her. If only he returned so she could apologize again. The mood shifted a little when Yuko reminded the young girl that she wanted to go swimming. Unica nodded. It was true, she did want to go swimming. That's what started this whole mess in the first place. Unica looked down at the water lapping over her feet. She kicked at the ocean's surface, sending droplets flying as she did. The corner of her lip curled up into a frail display of joy.
When Yuko said she wanted to play, Unica turned her attention back to the colorful teen. The comforting smile on Yuko's face made the faint smile on Unica's lips spread into something a little larger, something a little more genuine. Though her eyes were still moist, the realization that she still had one friend here was a nice thought. When Yuko asked, "I'm fun too, aren't it," Unica's answer was instantaneous. "Yeah!" she chimed before falling silent, as if reconsidering her answer. "No~" she giggled suddenly, "You're a stinky adult." The smile grew again, this time into something playful and teasing.

Oh no… She was tearing up. That wasn’t a good sign. “Crap, crap… D-don’t cry, please. W-whatever you do, don’t cry.” A clearly worried Yuko pleaded, while leaning down to about Unica’s eye level and holding both of her shoulders. It took being reminded how much she liked playing in the water for the little girl to cheer up and crack a somewhat frail, yet very genuine smile.
The punk-looking teenager sighed happily in relief. She wasn’t that confident in her ability to cheer people up, so she was glad that it all had worked out in the end. However, Yuko’s smile did turn into a mockery of a frown when the little brat called her a ‘stinky adult’. “I’m sixteen. And I’m not stinky. I took a shower earlier, unlike you!” She teased back.
Playing around like this evidently helped Unica get over her earlier stress, so Yuko carried it on. “You know what I did to a girl who called me stinky in school?” The teenage Tamer added, moving behind the younger girl, and wrapping her arms firmly around her stomach. “I Suplex City’d that bitch!” She exclaimed.
Granted, what she did for her demonstration was less an actual suplex, and more very slowly, very gently pulling Unica backwards, until they both plunged into the water. She wasn’t trying to hurt her for real, after all. She chuckled while helping the girl back up, before pulling her wet hair out of her face again. “Heheheh… Oh, by the way, bitch is a bad word. Forget you heard it, okay?”

When Unica called Yuko an adult, the teenager responded by saying that she was only sixteen. "So old!" Unica laughed, her giggles growing louder when Yuko teased her about not taking a shower. Though Unica didn't smell bad yet, if she let the sea water dry on her skin and clothes, she'd eventually reek of seaweed and salt, a fact which the young girl either didn't know or didn't care to acknowledge right now. It was far more fun to tease Yuko about her age and stench, even if she was neither old or smelly. Just seeing how offended she got was enough to make Unica smile. "So stinky!" the young tamer exclaimed, as if proclaiming it again, louder this time, would make it true.
At about that time, Yuko stepped behind Unica and wrapped her arms around the her, all the while claiming that she had "Suplex City'd" a "bitch" who once called her stinky in school. These were words that Unica didn't understand, though she was quick to learn what the former was when Yuko lifted her off the ground and leaned backwards, sending them both plummeting into the chilly waters of the ocean. Unica inhaled deeply, puffed out her cheeks, plugged her nose with both hands, and closed her eyes tightly mere milliseconds before her face was submerged.
Yuko released her grip on Unica immediately after they fell into the water, and Unica used her freedom of movement to dig her feet into the sand and stand up. She gasped for breath as her face emerged from the water, but the loose sand under her feet and the constant push-and-pull of the ocean currents made it difficult for her to find her balance. With eyes still shut tight, she wasn't entirely sure which way the beach was and whether she was even facing the right way. She fell backwards again, her head slipping below the waterline for a moment before she popped up again, coughing and shuttering at the disgusting taste of sea water.
Yuko, perhaps seeing how much Unica was struggling to recover from the suplex, reached out and grabbed one of her arms, pulling the young girl to her feet. Unica wobbled and, still holding onto the teenager's hand, took a few steps forward before opening her eyes. She used her free hand to push the hair out of her face and wipe the water away from her eyes. For a moment, Unica looked disoriented, like she wasn't sure where she was, but once she got her bearings, she took a few steps into shallower waters. After a short while, Unica let go of Yuko's hand and looked up to meet the teenager's gaze.
Yuko chuckled, seeming a little nervous or uncertain of herself as she did. Unica smiled in return. All was well. She wasn't hurt and she wasn't upset about being tossed into the water the way she had been. In fact, she was still on a little bit of an adrenaline rush because of it. Unprovoked, the adolescent suddenly made a comment that "bitch" was a bad word and that Unica ought to forget about ever hearing it. That made her want to say it more... so she did. "Bitch!" she giggled. "You're a bitch!" she laughed, clearly having no idea what she was actually saying. She was, however, trying to get a rise out of Yuko, the same way she had done when she called the teenager old and smelly.
