Thankfully, it appeared that Cion was not the only person within which tedium started to affect the spirit. Both parties understood that continuing like this was somewhat pointless due to aforementioned reasons and explanations. At this point, she and Demi had pretty much shown everything they were capable of, and the best cards had already been utilized and still required some time to refresh their cooldown. Worse than that, the timer was ticking down rather quickly. A few more moments and this competition would end in a draw, not leading a victor but the host and the spectators to decide who was worthy of rising through the ranks. While the CyberSagitamon HM did, as stated before, not truly care this tournament nor its rewards, the opportunities to clash with those she (once) cherished was extremely alluring. Proving herself against a couple of them, and showing others the potential they had yet to unleash, was immensely important to her. She mustn't lose, regardless of her weariness. Confident that her adversaries had similar ambitions, she recognized that they did not yield either. However, not unlike the SaintMeramon, practically ignoring the Betamon card was a given. A bolt of electricity from a Rookie hardly faced an armored Mega who was able to tap into even greater powers. Instead, upon being struck, she jerked a single step backwards and frowned behind her mask. This was getting farcical and everyone knew that. Why provide such weak utility items for this battle between mighty fighters anyway? Seemed inane... Naturally witnessing the fireball her opponent charged, the vulpine cyborg briefly contemplated her next steps. Considering Demi's defenses, it was essentially necessary to force him to use every means at his disposal and then strike. In consideration of her kit, this necessitated absolutely flawless timing and execution. Right now, there was no chance for her to pull this off, hence she did what she was a top dog at - delays and attrition. "Translucent Singularity!" She bellowed, snapping her fingers in the same instance. As before, reality twisted and turned in an area that encapsulated the titanic fire elemental. Raw physical sway pushed and pulled at him from and to all conceivable directions. Though in this case things were noticeably different, for the center of her ability was not the giant itself, but the hand that held its charge. It was dragged towards the floor as if gravity had increased by a multiple. ... Might as well blow himself up... "Cargo Laser Subroutine!" She added as her left arm temporarily transformed into a beam MG. Letting the rain of heated particles fall upon her rival, she hoped to delay his constant regeneration further so her particle beams could continue to eat away at him. As the tower of water underneath him faded away, the steam also faded away. Demi could now see properly and was ready to shoot his fireball. However, due to the steam that blurred his vision, he just couldn't have a good enough occasion to shoot the growing fireball. Knowing that every attack might change the odds, the SaintMeramon was about to throw the ball of flame at the CyberSagitamon when he felt his hand getting very heavy suddenly. So heavy that Demi had and kneel down trying to keep his hand in the air. His whole armored body was shaking from applying all his might to not lose that fireball.
Desmond didn't really understand what was going on. He saw his partner ready to shoot only to fall on one knee. An expression of fear drew on his face. Demi was now a very easy target. Not that he wasn't an easy target, to begin with, due to his size but now, he was immobile. The blond tamer only had one card left so he had to make it count. Trying to decide on which of the two abilities the Kazemon card had, the human kept moving his attention to the battle in front fo him and his final card. A kick might not be the best tactic due to Cion being way too far away from his partner. He would have to use the second one.
However, using this card meant that he would lose the fireball. But by the rules, he had to use the card. Clearly, they weren't going to win his turn but he doubted that their opponent would do as well. Again, both of them had a lot of defensive options. Sighing heavily, Desmond swiped the card and the fireball in Demi's hand disappeared. Instead, his left arm swung wide and a gale went toward the more agile Digimon. Unfortunately, his right arm was still trapped by the Translucent Singularity and he was still on one knee. He had no way to avoid the next assault so he had to take the hit.
The fire Digimon lowered his head for a second and then a yellow forcefield around him materialized covering most of his body. The Cargo Laser Subroutine beams flew high and rained down on his forcefield. Desmond bit his lip and sighed once more. With Cion not giving Demi any chance to attack rather than defend, there was no way that they could win. However, his partner was quite good at blocking the CyberSagitamon attacks of far but his tamer knew that he was getting tired. Sooner or later, one of the two would run out of stamina. Or maybe both at the same time.
The Frenchman had no real clue on what to do next. Cion managed to trap Demi on the ground and was too far away. The thought of just giving up came to his mind once more. It might not be what Cion would like as a victory though. Chasing that thought away, Desmond began thinking about what could happen on the last few turns remaining. For now, the SaintMeramon couldn't move at all but his shield was up so it wasn't too bad. He kind of hoped that Cion would do one last assault and that it would leave her open for just one attack. The forcefield might crack but right now, that was all Demi could do.
Battle Log - Demi let go of the Fireball and is now on one knee. - Desmond used the Kazemon card. - Demi activated his Forcefield ability.

Truth be told, Desmond was by far not the only one who was willing to surrender this battle due to its apparent pointlessness. As mentioned previously, Cion was constantly on the move and hence able to get out of Demi's reach, but he in turn was so unfathomably enduring that it bordered on silliness. They had inherent strengths and weaknesses which opposed each other diametrically, effectively rendering both efforts futile. So much for thesis and antithesis always begetting synthesis - this time at least, it was an absolute nothing. Speaking of which, the CyberSagitamon HM was not surprised to see the ablaze giant trapped by her ability to distort reality in a spherical area. What caused her to blink however was the fact that he so easily and willingly relinquished his probably sole means of attacking her from range. Figuring that this was a calculated strategy, she was quickly proved to be correct. Though the invisible squall was was merely the strength of a Champion, dodging it was improbable. Caught by the blast of pure force, her body stumbled backwards. It required an impressive yet necessary backflip to regain her stability - and the valuable moment or two this maneuver cost her. "Okay... weariness is now chagrin." The bipedal fennec composedly announced while beating the cinders out of her armor and cape. Taking in a deep breath upon beholding the yellow barrier, she harrumphed. Noticing that her cards had finally cooled down, a smirk formed itself behind her mask - unseeable yet very present. Exhaling audibly, she stretched her arms and legs before assuming a proper stance that was becoming to a lady of grace and poise. " If this does not do it, then we might as well flip a coin..." She jested, a chuckled followed by jarring silence. "Cross Section Subroutine!" The humanoid fox shouted as Puppetmon's mythical boomerang manifested itself in her hands. Tossing it with all the power of a Mega at the SaintMeramon, she did not wait for the conclusion of her assault. Instead, she decided to immediately pursue the second phase of her onslaught. With the jet engines on her bodysuit flaring up, the synthetic huntress swiftly found herself airborne and staring from above at the titanic juggernaut of fire and endurance. "Behold, my ultimate technique!" She declared vociferously, both to attain the attention and awe of her rival and the crowd. In the same instance, the blue fusion-reactor inside her futuristic pulse rifle started to glow with the brightness of a sun. Sparks and bolts of lightning sizzled violently, occasionally striking the terrain to leave scorch marks. Winds raged within the arena as Cion attempted to keep control of her own weaponry. It visibly was a great effort, but who was she to lose sway over her prowess? No... the spectators deserved a glorious finale. "Accelerated Particle Storm!" Echoed throughout the battlefield as a deafening boom pierced every ear and spirit. A humongous projectile of raw energy soared through the air, yet was not aimed directly at her primary target. Rather it collapsed above his head in a spectacular implosion of elemental violence. Splitting into uncountable pieces, a literal downpour of beams and crystallized shards sought to rapidly drown the digidestined's partner in their swath of destruction. Still, if this was not enough, there was a final step to this devastating attack. The three fragments already stuck in the fiery goliath's limbs glowed brightly and released a web of energized code that promptly wound itself around and along the prey. Squashing whatever bit of volatile matter they touched, the snare from the previous turn continued to impede Cion's opponent if he dared to perform an offensive action against her. Battle Log: Move: - Cion utilizes 'Accelerated Particle Storm' to snare Demi and deal high damage - Cion cannot utilize Combat-Passive Ability 'Particle Beam Storm' - Cion utilizes the card 'Puppetmon (Chrome-Digizoid)' - Cion's cards reset

It has taken quite a good amount of time for Cion to use her ultimate attack. Unfortunately for Demi, it seemed that it was over for the fire giant. With his forcefield cracked, it would shatter at the next attack and it was the Puppetmon's boomerang that came crashing in the forcefield. The yellow barrier broke into pieces and faded away into nothing as the boomerang made his way through his defense. The attack landed on his armored torso not only cracking the forcefield but also leaving a crack into the Chrome Digizoid Armor. His right arm was still snared on the ground and as much he tried to move it, he just wasn't strong enough to do so. All he could do was watch his opponent going airborne and use his ultimate attack on him.
For a split second, Desmond closed his eyes and sighed. Demi fought well seeing that he never had a real chance to hit the CyberSagitamon properly. But then, he heard his partner roar loudly making the blond tamer look up and see that the SaintMeramon wasn't going to give up just yet. Demi was tired, his defense was weakened and his arm was snared into the ground but he still had a bit of fire left in him. Stabbing the ground with his lance to stabilized himself, the fire Digimon grunted as he began getting off his knee. However, as he did so, the effect of the Accelerated Particle Storm kicked in and he fell back on his knee and lowered his head and with all his might and determination, he raised his left arm to cover him.
A shield appeared around his left arm and he hid his head underneath it. The rain of energy fell down on Demi which quickly broke his smaller shield into a million pieces. The rest of the attack hit the armored part of his head and shoulder which also left a crack on them. However, the SaintMeramon still could get his right arm to move so he wouldn't be able to shoot his fireballs at Cion. Even if he did, he wouldn't be able to aim properly after using that shield ability. His lance was stuck on the ground and was pretty much the only thing that kept him from falling on his side. It was easy to see that Demi was trembling from the pain and tiredness.
And then, the blond tamer quickly swiped a card. It might be his last attack so he had to make it count. He wanted to mimic his opponent card but knew that Demi wouldn't be able to launch the boomerang in his current state. He would have to find another card to use. The card he used was the KendoGarurumon one. Activating the Lupine Laser ability, the heavily wounded Digimon moved his head to aim at the CyberSagitamon and a beam of pure solar energy came out of his mouth. The human wasn't sure if that beam would be fast enough to the airborne Digimon but that was all he could do. Perhaps, Cion might be too tired to avoid it and that might give Demi a final turn.
As Desmond looked at his partner, he saw that Demi was still glowing. Fire came out of the cracks in his armor as his Reforge ability kicked in. It wasn't much but it did help and every little bit was better than nothing. For now, Cion was winning but there was still a chance for Demi if he could get out of that position. However, with both his shields on cooldown, it would be unlikely that he would be able to survive another assault. The Frenchman hoped deeply that the more agile Digimon used all that she had left in her by now.
Battle Log - Both Forcefield and Shield as been broken. - Desmond used the KendoGarurumon card. - Demi Reforge Ability kicked in.

It were not solely heavy breaths that were masked by a helmet that displayed nothing but the aureate gleam of her irises, but also raging fervor and panache that flared up within her spirit. Seeing both the barrier and the shield crumble to dust due to her assault, while her prey lay helplessly on the ground, entangled by her traps, filled her with immeasurable catharsis. After this constant and pointless back and forth, she had finally achieved an adequate success. Now she only had to continue the fanning and hopefully achieve victory soon! She could not maintain this immense power output up for long... Hovering in the air with the assistance of her bodysuit's jet engines, she held her breath to stabilize her the pulse of her core. The last thing she needed at this crucial point in time was inaccuracy during her attempt to grant her opponent a proper coup de grâce. Unfortunately, as her futuristic rifle charged upon another attack, Cion's eyes widened as she realized what the SaintMeramon was doing. Biting her lower lips, she watched as the beam of solar energy accumulated itself in front of his face. But... no, she had to persevere! This was perhaps her one-of-a-kind chance to win. It did not have to be wasted. "Starlight Explosion Subroutine..." She whispered through her gritted teeth. Translucent wings manifested themselves on her body for a short moment, releasing darts of golden destruction at Demi. He in turn launched aforementioned laser, its incandescence soaring quickly and mighty at the CyberSagitamon HM. Narrowing her eyelids, she eventually pulled the primary trigger when her weapon finished loading. With all previous effects having ceased to be, the final climax of this public showdown had begun. "Shock Blast!"... Describing the chaos of dazzling colors, deafening fulminations, clashing energies and dispersed materials was truly impossible. As the floor was covered in the explosions of holy wrath and electric surges, the sky was torn apart by the raw force of the sun itself. Those who did not cover themselves from the sight and the powers unleashed likely suffered minor ills, such as eyestrain, tinnitus and queasiness. Naturally, this was paltry compared to the woes the two combatants had to suffer in this most dire, almost vicious finale. Yet as everything did, the elemental havoc too ultimately had an ending and faded into nothingness. With the other faints unknown, the vulpine ancient bent on the catwalk, gripping the scorched, nearly molten beast plate of her armor. Barely able to sit while leaning against the railing, the injured Mega trembled and coughed. Her head appeared unsteady, constantly swaying as if she was incapable of focusing and maintaining stability. The consequences of the direct hit were clear as day to everyone. Claiming her to be in a bad state was an unfathomable understatement. Not even her potent healing techniques were capable of swiftly mending these type of grave trauma. The question was... what about her cherished rival...? "Are... are you... alright?" Battle Log: Move: - Cion utilizes 'Shock Blast' to deal low damage (scales exponentially with damage suffered and every lodged particle beams), chance to immobilize severely for 1 turn - Cion cannot utilize Combat-Passive Ability 'Particle Beam Storm' - Cion utilizes the card 'Hououmon (Platinum)'

The SaintMeramon could barely move as his opponent used the Hououmon card. All he could do was to watch the golden powder raining on him and lower his head before impact. Even underneath his helmet, it was easy to see that it was terribly painful for the fire Digimon. But he didn't scream in pain nor grunted. Desmond knew that it was over then so he did what he should do, end this fight. "Cion! Stop!" He shouted before running toward his partner. The blond tamer would quickly get to Demi and place a trembling hand on the fire giant. "It's alright, Demi. You did well." The SaintMeramon nodded and in a flash of light, it reverted back into his default form, as a DemiMeramon. Demi didn't look very well but he still managed to smile at his tamer. "You won, Cion." Desmond would then said as he picked up his partner off the ground. There was no use trying to continue the fight so the Frenchman acknowledged the more agile Digimon's victory with a quick nod. He then looked down at the fireball who looked very tired but yet, still smiling faintly. The blond tamer would also smile and hug the little Digimon and then walk closer toward the CyberSagitamon. He walked slowly just in case that the humanoid fox would do something. He had to admit that he didn't entirely trust her but while a bit scared, she never tried to hurt him in the battle. After a short moment, the human was now standing face to face with Cion. He shifted Demi's body so he would rest in his left arm and extended the other for her to shake. "Congratulations." He simply said. And with that, the match was finally over. Desmond and Demi might have lost, but it was a fair fight. In the end, they might need more practice against the more agile Digimon like the CyberSagitamon.
"Best of luck for the next round!"

In a single instance, everything this battle had contained had finally come to an end. Through the pain of the damage she had suffered, Cion forced her frame up by utilizing the catwalk's balustrade as a means to stabilize her trembling stance. As dust and cinders faded into nothing, she took several heavy yet quiet breaths. In her heavily weakened state, it was difficult for her to muster the curiosity to learn of her opponent's well-being. Ultimately, his partner vociferously declared his defeat, causing her to realize what this meant.
Gasping, a while, partially aureate sheen engulfed her, returning her to the previous form of a silver, tiny fennec - something most comprehended too late was actually her apex, not a decline. For her, maintaining this hightened level was far easier than that of its nimble predecessors, especially because it was exceedingly more durable. Clinging to the railing, she sat on it and sighed with the knowledge that she had won this clash. Still, she did not feel right about this. Had she overdone it towards the finale? Perhaps, but... this is how things went. There was someone who emerged victoriously, and the one vanquished.
Turning to the approaching team, the Arniomon looked with hidden worries at the battered and bruised Demi. The way the poor lad just rested there in the blond Frenchman's arms, smiling weakly yet proudly, allowed the fair lady of grace to empathize fully. The bond between the two was beautiful, and of infinitely greater significance than this fight's outcome. The affection he had for his companion was evident, particularly in the desire to assure his vitality. Truly admirable these aspects she wished to see in people regularly, yet to seldom she did.
Meeting Desmond's eyes, she did not hesitate to take his hand and shake it gently. "Thank you." She responded before her soft gaze fell upon the injured Rookie. She gladly returned the simper granted. "Your tenacity is second to none, but you have to work on your speed. But as a protector, I would not want anyone else by my side." She sincerely credited her former rival, hoping that would cheer him up and pursue even bigger goals. There always remained plenty worth chasing after. And for that, those who strove had to be at their peak condition.
"And a true fighter like yourself should stand..." The unassuming fox stated confidently. Reaching out for the harried boy, she did not quite touch him. Instead, the trio was suddenly enshrouded in an iridescent veil of raw code. Over a couple of moments, the soothing energies, gentle and benevolent, enveloped Demi and slowly entered his system. Visible trauma were healed, hurt subsided rapidly, and a pleasant sensation of good health would return to him. It was the least she could do for him. Soon, this display of goodwill ended. "There... that will do it..." She finished, which was followed by a pleased chuckle.
Addressing the both of them, she bowed her head in genuine respect. "I hope this is not the last time we meet. It'd be delightful to become properly acquainted with you. May I invite you to dinner once the tournament has concluded this eve?"
