MPC Name: The Nakamura's New Year MPC Number: MPC 66X/58B Reward Requested: Posts
The district of Shinjuku where the Nakamura Estate was located could be called a light show as the many mansions around it were lit up in many ways for the commemoration of the New Year. There were quite a bit of diverse styles the many rich families of the city had opted to use. Some preferred a traditional approach with more old-fashioned customs while others were more comfortable with the western molds: Simpler parties with only family and some friends having fun hanging out and talking the night away.
Currently, the second option had been the choice of the Nakamura family as the staff worked to make sure everything was top-notch for the few people that were invited. True, the Nakamura family was quite the big hit in the food department, but the End-of-the-Year Celebrations held a special position in the year, which only immediate family and friends were invited.
Not just due to convenience, but also because of the current head of the Family, Soichiro Nakamura, who preferred a less forced gathering and something more Genuine.
And amongst those in anticipation for the time, Mikazuki was practically brimming with excitement. Dressed up in a fancy three-piece suit and hair distinctly styled up, the boy-giant seemed ready to bounce from his room as he kept on putting the finishing touches of his suit, particularly the family brochure, occasionally looking outside of the window.
“Come on, guys!” He muttered to himself, eyes brimming as he drew out his phone and checked for messages. “Please don’t be late!”
“Mika, dear?” A woman with Chanel-styled hair of sunshine gold, dressed in a beautiful black mermaid dress and sporting jewelry of the highest brands called out, her eyes focused on the boy with an expectant stare. “Let’s go downstairs, sweetie. Your father is waiting there and you know how he gets when we take too long.” there was a bit of sarcasm in her voice, but for the most part, it was the sort that was far more good-natured than the rest of them.
Mika was startled by her sudden appearance but nodded excitedly to his mother. “I’ll be right there, mama! Just… waiting for confirmation from the guys.”
Kaede Nakamura shook her head with a smile. “Mika, if they said they’d come, the butlers will bring them in. You don’t need to worry, ok?”
“I guess…” he said, prompting his mom to walk and give the bigger man a hug. “Come now, dear. Shall we? I’d like you to be there when we give the staff our best wishes before the rest of the family gets here.”
The blonde manchild sighed, but a smile put his mom at ease. “Ok, mom.” And with that, both went downstairs, where a man taller than even Mikazuki was waiting on the couch, eyes fixed on his tablet. The sound of footsteps made him stand up, sending a warm smile to both his wife and son, who proceeded to give him a group hug. “Took you guys long enough.” Soichiro Nakamura joked, voice just as sultry as one would expect from a man who looked more like Mika’s older brother than his father. “I was starting to think I’d have to call the investors to keep me company!”
Kaede did not appreciate the comment. “Oh, don’t you even entertain the thought, honey! The New year is OUR party! Work can wait until we’re done here!”
Soichiro nodded, exchanging a happy look with his son. “So, Mika, are your friends on their way?” He asked a bit more seriously, but surprisingly, there was no recoil from the youth, who coughed momentarily and rubbed the back of his head. “They told me they’d be here soon… I think?”
Soichiro nodded but said nothing else, not wanting to make his son uncomfortable. “I’m sure they will, son. Now, let’s give the staff our best wishes. they’re all in the kitchen waiting.”
And with that, the trio walked to the kitchen to do so.

“Jeez… I’m coming!” Yuko groaned to herself, texting those exact words back to Mikazuki, before throwing her phone back inside her purse. The guy was anxious, she could tell. On the other hand, she was kinda nervous, since this would be her first time meeting Mika’s parents face to face. She knew little about them, other than the fact that they were filthy rich and had raised their son in an airtight bubble for most of his years. The filthy rich part will come back later, so make note of that. More importantly, they’d probably hate her. Yuko wasn’t an idiot, and she knew all too well the kinds of jerkwad parents who did everything in their power to keep their kids away from ‘bad influences’. A lot of her oldest friends, whom she knew ever since kindergarten, had cut her off for that very reason. It was sad the more she thought back to it… Earlier that week, Yuko had done the mistake of asking her own Mom for advice. It had been one of the very rare occasions that she and her mother got to talk anymore, really. After their talk, her Mom had immediately rushed to the shops like a freaking force of nature, intent on buying her the best kimono possible, in order to leave a good impression on Mr. and Mrs. Nakamura on New Year’s Eve. Remember the part about Mika’s parents being filthy rich? They had butlers… multiple ones too! One of said butlers walked Yuko to the Nakamura estate’s main hall, informing her that his masters would come back from the kitchen shortly. And so, the young delinquent waited, clad in her formal, yet slick, purple-colored kimono. Her hair, devoid of all the paints she usually applied, was back to its natural black color, and was tied in a stylish bun behind her head. She hated everything about her current getup, but at least she had kept all of her piercings on, despite her mother’s protests. However, she had a feeling that Mika’s parents would jump at the opportunity to bitch about it too. Word Count: 351 Total Word Count: 351

Posts, please
New Years, that magic time where the worries of the past give way to the hopes of the future. You would be hard pressed to find anyone on the planet who didn't enjoy the holiday; whether it be because of the prospects of a new beginning heralded by the start of a fresh year, the chance to spend time with friends and family you might not have seen for a long while, or even just because of the sheer abundance of parties and celebrations that filled the cities of the world, continuing well after the stroke of midnight and ushering the new year in with a bang.
And Junpei Sudo... was exactly the kind of person who disliked New Year's. Of course, he wasn't always like that; when he was younger, he loved New Year's just as much as, if not more than, anyone else. Wandering the shrines, munching on takoyaki, watching fireworks, getting to spend time with his family... It wasn't Christmas by any stretch of imagination, but it still ranked as one of his younger self's favorite times of the year. And then hi dad ran off and abandoned him and his mom, and... Junpei just lost his spirit. It's not that he stopped celebrating New Year's, no, but he stopped spending time with his mom on the holiday, and the extent of his 'celebration' was usually 'stop by the shrine, make a wish, mull about for a few minutes and head home'.
Having not celebrated properly in years, Junpei had naturally been hesitant when Mika had suddenly invited himself and Yuko to visit the Nakamura estate and celebrate the holiday together. At the same time, though, his own better nature overcame him, and Junpei had found himself agreeing to the plan before he could so much as think about rejecting it. And so it was that Junpei found himself standing outside of Mika's home, his usual delinquent attire having been traded out for a white button-up shirt, a pair of black slacks, and wine-red bow tie. It wasn't the fanciest outfit in the world, but the farthest cry from his usual attire, which Junpei considered a good thing.
Taking a deep breath to steady his nerves, Junpei stepped through the gate and onto the grounds of the Nakamura estate. Almost immediately, a squad of maids and butlers appeared out of seemingly nowhere and swarmed him. Junpei's first thought was that Mika's parents had caught wind of who was coming and had expressly ordered their staff to kick out any would-be 'intruders'. However, his fears were somewhat alleviated when one of the butlers asked him to follow along before heading in the direction of the main house. With not much in the way of alternatives, Junpei did as he was asked, his slouched, lackadaisical posture contrasting sharply with the prim and proper pace of the hired help surrounding him.
Soon enough, the delinquent was deposited in what seemed to be some sort of main hall type of area, the butlers and maids escorting him immediately shuffling off to attend to their duties in the rest of the house, only briefly explaining that "Master Mikazuki" (jeez, how pretentious could you get...) would be out shortly. And with that, Junpei was left alone... or at least, he thought he was alone at first. A few lazy glances around the area eventually revealed a girl, dressed in a purple kimono, seemingly waiting for something as well. And a closer examination revealed this girl was actually Yuko, based on the piercings studding her face. A grin spread across his face as he waved to her, quickly approaching her side. "Hey, Yuko! Looks like you beat me here, huh!" He glanced over her before nodding in seeming approval. "Well don't you clean up nice, hehe..." He gave a nervous chuckle, though the compliment did seem to be genuine.

As per the usual, the little mingling that was being allowed at the back area of the mansion for the maids, butlers, chefs and other members of the staff had gone great. Mika, as per the usual, was the one who delivered the checks for his parents. A strange habit, but hey, it made them happy! That's what mattered.
And as luck would have it, just as the last set of them was delivered, one of the maids came and whispered something in the ear of his father and mother, who nodded and smiled.
Mika looked positively ecstatic as his parents turned to him with smiles on their faces. "Well, son, it looks like your friends are here. Shall we go greet them?" Soichiro explained, garnering an excited "YES!" from Mika as he sprinted ahead, much to the two adults' amusement. Mika's paces could be heard from the hallway as the giant blonde suddenly appeared out of a corner and, as per the usual, used the patented Mika Glomp Greeting on a Couch to the two, the biggest notice of his intent being his scream of "GUYS!!!". Grabbing them with relative ease and starting to spin the two of them around for a bit, before dropping them right in front of the hallway. "I'm so glad you could make it! Papa and Mama also were dying to meet you! Oh, I hope you don't mind, but we already prepped some rooms for you and you get to meetmygrandpasandgrandmas! It'sgonnabe superfunand..." Finally noticing he was blathering, Mika stopped right as his parents crossed the hallway and came into view.
Contrary to Mikazuki, Kaede and Soichiro's walking put the staff's to shame. The two looked like the typical Hollywood actors and, even more weird, they were young! Like, to the point where they almost seemed like Mika's older brother and Cousin!
Their glances were what was the most unnerving though. It was like they were staring at the delinquents' very souls with those rapt eyes of theirs. Even though their smiles seemed warm like their son, they were merely a veneer to cover their judgment. And the worst: One could not start to even comprehend the surfaces of what lay beneath their enigmatic smiles.
"You must be Junpei and Yuko." Soichiro advanced to greet the two with a handshake for Junpei, followed by kneeling before Yuuko, taking her hand and kissing it. "I'm Soichiro Nakamura, and this is my wife, Kaede Nakamura." As he gestured towards the woman, Kaede also walked ahead, presenting herself with a bow. "It's a pleasure to meet the two of you." She stated in a polished welcoming tone. "Truth be told, we were looking forward to meeting the first few friends our baby boy-" She brought Mika in a hug, which he returned with earnest. "Had made in the school."
Soichiro was the next to intervene, calling a butler for them. "Get us a glass of champagne, and whatever the kids wish to drink."
The hired help nodded and turned to them with a smile. "What may I get you, young masters?" as expected, not a hitch in his delivery. Mika was the first to ask. "Can you get me some Kiwi juice, Masaru?" Mika asked with a lot of familiarities, prompting the butler to nod and turn to the other two.

Great. Juuust great! Junpei was about to make some kind of smartass remark about Yuko’s getup, she could tell just from that goofy grin on his face. But wait, what he gave her instead was a genuine compliment. “Oh, uhh… Hey, Junpei. Umm… thanks. You look nice too… Heh. I could live without seeing you wearing a bow tie, but everything else looks cool.” The kimono-clad girl responded with just as nervous of a chuckle, instinctively avoiding eye contact. Before things could get more awkward, the cavalry arrived! Mika came in and gave the two delinquents the heartiest, most enthusiastic bearhug yet. “Woah! Easy, big guy. It’s nice to see you too.” Yuko gasped, finally catching her breath after her feet were touching solid ground again. New Year’s only happened once a year, so she figured it was only natural for the young Nakamura scion to act even livelier than usual. “Wait, what was that about rooms?” She added with a more questioning look. Hopefully this wasn’t gonna turn into a sleepover. Sleepovers were for little kids. Mikazuki’s incessant blathering soon stopped. In fact, time itself seemed as if to stop when his parents entered the room, carrying themselves with such class one could almost mistake them for royalty. Naturally, they wasted no time glaring at the two delinquents with their judgemental, yet civilized gazes. Yuko knew that no matter how much they were loved by Mika, they were in enemy territory now. The Nakamura patriarch introduced himself first, shaking Junpei’s hand and kissing Yuko’s own as if she was some kind of fairy tale princess. “I-it’s nice to meet you, Mr. and Mrs. Nakamura. Mika… I mean, Mikazuki has told us a lot about you.” The female delinquent said, stuttering a bit, while her cheeks flushed a very faint shade of pink. Boy was Mika’s dad a looker, and he had the charisma to back it up too! Yuko had to mentally remind herself that he was probably much older than her and also married. Speaking of the lucky woman, Mika’s mom looked gorgeous too. So much so, it made Yuko question her own preferences, if only for a moment. Seeing the boy-giant and his equally good-looking parents exchange hugs with one another, there was no doubt that those three were related by blood. Yuko was certain that deep down they were good people, if they had managed to raise a sweet guy like Mika. Soon, a butler approached them, asking them what kind of beverages they would like to drink. “I’d like a glass of champagne too… non-alcoholic champagne of course!” The girl with the pierced face said, very quickly correcting herself. “We don’t drink alcohol. We’re sixteen.” She added, discreetly nudging Junpei’s side, as if warning him not to say or do anything stupid.

Junpei chuckled lightly, a hint of a blush appearing on his cheeks from Yuko's own compliment. Well, at least somebody here liked the outfit... Before he could offer much in the way of a reply, though, the duo was joined by the third member of their intrepid trio, Mika making himself known in the only way he knew how: by nearly cracking Junpei's spine in half. The rosy-haired delinquent gave a strangled yelp from the deathly bear hug, but otherwise managed to keep himself from resisting. This was a special day for Mika, he didn't need to go about ruining it just because he was scared of a little internal bleeding.
Opening his mouth to speak, Junpei was immediately cut off by the sudden appearance of Mr. and Mrs. Nakamura entering the room, the delinquent finding himself a little starstruck as he gazed at the older couple. They might not have been 'celebrities', in the traditional sense, but they at least looked the part, and the rosy-haired delinquent found himself feeling even more self-conscious than he usually did as he absent-mindedly shook the hand of Mika's father.
It wasn't until Yuko suddenly jammed her elbow into Junpei's side that he managed to snap out of his stupor, yelping lightly and immediately rubbing the sore spot that had just been made on his ribs. "Owww!" Grumbling, he shook his head to clear his thoughts before glancing over to the butler awaiting his order. "I'll just, uh, have a soda, or a juice, whatever you guys have." Once his order was placed, he shoved his hands into his pockets and turned his attention the Nakamura parents. "So, you guys are Mika's parents, huh?" He flashed a wide grin as he focused on Mika's father. "Guess we know where he got those huggin' muscle of his now!"

The butler quirked an eyebrow at the rather strange way the kids behaved but bowed and left without a word. Noting his friends' discomfort, Mika smiled and explained "Don't worry, guys! Masaru's a cool guy. He's just quiet."
Soichiro and Kaede, meanwhile, exchanged a few looks as they appraised the delinquents, noting the out-of-place bowtie and the piercings most of all. While they were discreet about it, but to someone as Sharp as Yuuko, it was abundantly clear that while Junpei got a bit less flack, the girl stuck out the most.
"So, children." Mrs. Nakamura started the conversation as she gestured for them to sit down. "Mika tells us a lot, but we'd like to hear it from your perspective as well: How are things at school?"
Mikazuki's father also chimed in, a bit more stoically than his wife. "We'd also like to learn a bit more about you, if possible. Mika spoke so highly of you two that we almost didn't believe most of what he said. " His tone was very scrutinizing, but despite that, it seemed to be mostly harmless.
It was then that the butler returned, serving Yuko her beverage of choice, Junpei was brought a simple Coke and Mika's kiwi smoothie was also brought with no small amount of flair in the presentation. "Would you require anything else, or may I tend to the door and rest of the preparations, Master Soichiro?" The butler requested as the owner of the house took his glass.
Soichiro shook his head at that. "We'll be fine for now, Masaru. Continue with the preparations and once the guests start arriving, take a break." He smiled at the elder. "You earned it."
"By your command." And thus, with a polite bow, the elder left without much fanfare.
By then, Mikazuki took a backseat, eagerly sipping on his kiwi juice as he listened to his parents and his friends' first conversation with rapt attention.

‘Cool’ was not one of the words Yuko would ever think of using to describe a butler, but considering the fact that this Masaru person was addressed on a first name basis by all of the Nakamura’s, perhaps he had worked for them long enough that they treated him as part of their family. He was at least polite enough… for a butler. Mika’s mother asked the kids about school, while gesturing for them to sit down with them. “School is okay, I guess… Lots of bullying incidents lately. But, nobody has bothered Mika, so you don’t have to worry.” Yuko assured them. Taking one good look at the boy-giant, it wasn’t hard to see why bullies didn’t dare to mess with him, even if his mushy behavior made him an easy bullying target. Soon, the butler came back with their refreshments - a kiwi smoothie for Mikazuki, a Coke for Junpei and a glass of non-alcoholic champagne for Yuko - and then leaving them to continue with the preparations. The delinquent girl took a sip, frowning as she found out that champagne without alcohol tasted like soap water. In this case, it was soap water no doubt taken from the finest royal bathhouses, but soap water nonetheless. Mika’s father put the two delinquents on the spot, asking them to tell him more about themselves. He was charming, but also quite cunning. No wonder he’d become such a successful businessman. Yuko felt incredibly nervous, almost as if this was a job interview or something, or worse yet, a trial case where she was the defendant about to get the guilty verdict. “Well… I live in Western Shibuya with my mother. We lived in Kobe originally, we moved here in the Summer of 2016… and… that’s all about me, I guess.” The girl nervously said, trying to avoid looking either of Mika’s parents in the eyes. This entire time they’d been glaring at her earrings, weren’t they…?

"P-Pretty much what Yuko said, hehe..." Junpei chuckled nervously, his throat all of a sudden feeling bone dry when he was asked about how school life was treating him. There was no way in Hell he could tell the Nakamuras that he usually skipped school to loiter in front of the shops or in the park. "School never really changes, ya know? Ya always got cruddy teachers that are just getting their paychecks, ya always got the class clown that can't shut up, ya always have the one good teacher that gives half a darn..." He sighed as he sank into the couch, hoping his 'explanation' was just detailed enough for the Nakamuras to agree.
When Masaru suddenly returned with their drinks, Junpei visibly perked up, gratefully accepting the Coke and wasting no time in popping it open and taking a long, drawn-out sip. A sip that very nearly turned into a bout of gagging when Soichiro Nakamura suddenly asked the two delinquents to talk about themselves. Thankfully, instead of throwing up the soda all over the nice, clean couch, Junpei managed to choke it down, immediately bringing a fist up to his mouth and coughing into it as he tried to recover.
"You- cough cough- you wanna hear about me?" An uneasy smile graced the delinquent's lips as he pondered the question. He couldn't exactly just say no here... Yuko answering first gave the delinquent boy an idea, and he cleared his throat and crossed his legs before answering. "Well, uh, I can tell you one thing: every good thing Mika's told you about me is one hundred percent true!" He laughed loudly, but quickly calmed down. "'Part from that, though, not much to say. Was born in Okayama, moved here to Shibuya when I was like... twelve... Just boring junk like that, ya know?"

Mika's parents listened patiently to the stories the two delinquents told them, a mostly neutral expression etched on their faces as the shifty answers came along. More and more, the two managed to piece together just what sort of punks these two were. Careful as they might have, there was a lot of inconsistencies with their explanations and with their looks, such as Yuko's piercings, Junpei's extravagantly coloured hair, their simple vocabulary and, most importantly, how vague their answers were and the intonation they were uttered in. The two were simply acting too nervously for such a basic question. One doesn't become a business tycoon without noticing such details, after all.
Mikazuki was oblivious to that train of thought, content in simply regaling some of the many stories they went through in school to his parents. For example, some involving the times they skipped class to show the boy-giant something or the times they had gone out in the night to the many sights Shibuya had to offer. None of it seemed to piss his parents off, so to him, everything was A-Ok.
Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on one's interpretation, Masaru showed up at that moment with a warning. "I am terribly sorry for interrupting, Master Soichiro, but your esteemed parents have just arrived and are coming in."
At the mention of his grandparents, the boy-giant all but jumped out of his seat. "I'll get'em!" he explained, dashing out of the room with incredible speed, unlike the butler who awaited instructions.
"You can go ahead, Masaru. We'd like to have a word alone with Mika's friends." The order came from Kaede, but the undertone was clear: he was to keep Mikazuki out of the room for a bit so they would be on their own without upsetting the boy. The elder bowed and left the room, closing the door in the process, isolating the two "couples" from the rest of the mansion.
It was at that moment tht the expression on both their faces shifted. Kaede's face was colder than Antartica and Soichiro's glare would have killed them on the spot if looks could do so. "So, kids..." he started, in a tone that would send shivers down their spines. "Do you two take us for idiots or are you simply that bad at lying?"
Silence followed the question as they let it build up the tension.
"Did you think we wouldn't notice how vague your stories were, as if there were things we shouldn't know? Or how you stuttered at the questions, or perhaps that that hair or the piercings would go by unnoticed?" Kaede explained, countenance utterly frigid while her husband and walked to them, his height and imposing charisma making the air ten times thicker in the room. "Make no mistake, Mikazuki may be overly friendly and ignore the cues sometimes, but we're not him. And we know dropouts when we see them."
Kaede just observed as her husband promptly knelt so as to stay in eye level with the two, eyes narrowing into threatening slits as he delivered one last comment on to them. "Mikazuki is the only thing in our lives we want to keep away from the hell the two of us went through before he came to us. And you can trust me on this: If you think you can use my son and then toss him aside like used garbage, you may as well march downstairs and admit it to his face now, because if I find out you didn't and still made him upset..." A pause " I. Will. End. Your. Futures." and with that, Soichiro left the room, Leaving only Kaede there to take the brunt of the backlash. His steps were tense and the speed he walked out made it clear he was not feeling well about what he said.
Kaede sighed and began her own explanation. "As much as i detest it when he gets like that, I will be blunt: We aren't exaggerating on what we'll do if you two break our baby boy's heart. Mikazuki has been the best thing that ever happened to us ever since we got married. Life was not easy for us, and we just wanted to provide a better one to him." she took the champagne her husband left behind and drank it in one fell swoop. "That being said, we may have been harsh on you, but it was because we don't like being lied to." the glass was put aside, neatly with the other one. "You may not have done the best impression in the world, but I, at least, will make the effort to respect you and welcome you into our circle if you truly are willing to be Mika's friends, whatever your background may be. "
With that, the lady of the house flashed the two a smile that seemed more bright than Mika's own. This time, a sincere one. "So all i ask is that you be honest with us from now on. I'll keep Soichiro from putting you two down any further, so please enjoy the party. Mika's downstairs and we'll be waiting for you to come when you're ready."
A last line consisting of "I wish you two a happy new year, by the way." was spoken out just as Kaede left, giving the two delinquents time to ponder the words of the Nakamura family's heads.

Well, Junpei didn’t do a spectacular job pleasing Mikazuki’s parents with his life story either. Considering that what he did have to say about their daily school life probably wouldn’t sit well with them, it probably would be best that they stayed vague and disclosed as little information about themselves as possible, right? Wrong, very wrong!
Not only was Mika’s father not pleased by their overly cautious, almost laconic answers, but he was now even more suspicious of them on top of their already suspect looks. And as soon as a convenient excuse was found for the blissfully unaware Mika to leave them to their privacy, the Nakamura patriarch decided to teach the two young outcasts exactly how he had become the successful business tycoon he was. Here’s a hint: It wasn’t by being nice.
Yuko stared wide-eyed as the man went on to direct accusation after accusation at her and Junpei, speaking almost like some kind of evil mob boss from a mafia movie, threatening to ‘end them’ if it turned out they were just taking advantage of Mikazuki. Despite Yuko usually being the first to butt heads with someone when they insulted her or her friends, this time she was left speechless and dumbfounded, like a deer against headlights. What could she even do? This man had all the wealth, cunning and power to do whatever the hell he pleased, and she… she was just a kid!
The words coming from Mika’s mother, who made an honest effort to defuse the situation, barely registered to the female delinquent, who suffered a metaphorical blue screen after the Nakamura patriarch had said his last word. “Happy new year, Mrs. Nakamura…” She croaked back as the woman also left the room, leaving her and Junpei truly alone.
“Who the hell does he think he is… talking to us like that…” Yuko clenched her fists so hard, her hands started shaking. She slowly stood up, almost like a zombie, before storming off to… wherever. She just needed to get away from all this, so she just ran aimlessly through the hallways, until she found one of the mansion’s gazillion bathrooms and locked herself inside. The countdown to the new year would start any moment, but all she cared about was being left alone.

Junpei nearly let out an audible whine when the butler informed the group that Mika's grandparents had arrived, causing the overly-cheerful giant to rush off in order to greet them. As good as he was at lying, the delinquent had more than an inkling feeling that Mika's parents had seen through him like a car window, and the only thing preventing them from absolutely tearing into him and Yuko was Mika's presence in the room.
And of course, not even a second after Mika left, Junpei's fears were proven true as Kaede and Soichiro both turned to the delinquent duo simultaneously, the Nakamuras sporting looks that should have been banned by the Geneva Convention for how deadly they were. Before either he or Yuko could react, Mika's father was on them; the man was already imposing enough just for how much he towered everybody in the room, but until his son, he was well-aware of how huge he was, and knew how to put it to good use. Junpei had to resist the urge to cower in his seat as he weathered Soichiro's beratement and threats, his heart pounding with every word. When the tirade finally stopped and the man stomped away, Junpei's face was whiter than a sheet, and his body was shaking so bad that he had to set his drink aside lest he end up spilling soda all over the furniture.
Kaede offered the two some... 'kind' words, but they felt more bittersweet than anything. Despite what she said, she clearly didn't hate what Soichiro had done enough if she had simply sat by while he verbally whaled on the two. Once she had gone, Junpei and Yuko were left alone in the room, with Junpei at least being driven to think things over in regards to what Mika's parents had said.
...Alright, yeah, he admits it: Mika's his friend, alright?! It might not have been 'cool' or 'tough' or anything to admit such a big, soft goober was his friend, it might not have been 'tough' to even have friends at all, but if the alternative is those two jerks cutting him off from ever seeing Mika again, then screw it! He would jump onto the roof and scream it out for the whole neighborhood to hear if he had to! Junpei never was the kind who made friends easy, and he would be damned if he let a couple of rich snobs take away one of his best ones; rich snobs with sticks so far up their asses they couldn't even see what was right in front of them! The only reason Junpei was even here, the only reason he and Yuko had bothered to dress up and why he lied to their faces like that, was because he knew Mika's parents would have thrown him out immediately otherwise!
Slowly, painfully slowly, Junpei released the breath he hadn't even realized he was holding, his body somewhat relaxing as he finally pulled himself up out of the seat. "Well, that was- WOAH!" He tripped and nearly stumbled as Yuko roughly brushed past him, nearly sending him tumbling down to the ground as she suddenly took off for who-knows-where. Recovering quickly enough, Junpei was left standing, head swiveling back and forth as he looked between where Yuko had vanished to and where Mika and his parents and walked off. The rosy-haired delinquent chewed on his lip as he mentally debated himself, but eventually took off after Yuko.
