"WHY?!" Crowlomon would crow in retort at the Tentomon, visibly irate that the bug wasn't getting his ferry started immediately. "CAUSE I'M COMING TO YOU WHETHER YOU DAMN LIKE IT OR NOT! YOU CAN EITHER START IT NOW AND GET ENOUGH LOOT TO FIX UP WHATEVER HAPPENS TO THIS BOAT AND BUY A BACKUP BOAT, OR YOU CAN SIT ON YOUR ASS AND I'LL COME START IT MYS-S-SQUAWK!"
Despite the Tentomon's attempt to shout a warning to the Crowlomon, it seemed that - with the crow digimon's ranting - their reaction was a little slow on actually getting out of the way. It was only in glancing back mid-rant that Crowlomon would notice Scarab's advance, that they would notice his dive for them - prompting the bird to attempt to dive away from the Stingmon..! However, as aforementioned, they were much too slow; the Spiking Strike impaling thru the Crowlomon's wing, and sending bird and bug both to the ground.
Pinned, the Crowlomon would squawk incoherently and struggle; trying to get away, but to little avail - the Stingmon being significantly stronger, and the Crowlomon growing gradually weaker from their injuries on top of it. They were hurting, they were bleeding, and the Crowlomon knew only but one thing: if they didn't get away, they were surely going to die. Desperation and fear were plain in the bird's eyes; and for a moment, they looked as though they were just a kid in over their head. "Please- p-please..!" They'd plead, struggling still. "I'm sorry, I - no - I-I don't want to die..!"
Yet, in all of their fear, in their core feeling like it was about to hammer right out of their chest... It was in that moment that something would happen, that something would change. A golden light would overtake Crowlomon's form, as they began to change in shape; becoming larger, perhaps even the slightest bit larger than Scarab. Wings elongated, talons and claws grew large and sharp... Once the light would fade, the Digimon beneath the Stingmon would no longer be a Crowlomon, but a Carriomon...
... And this Carriomon seemed to have found their second wind. Firstly, they would lash out with a kick at Scarab in an attempt to either force him back, or to continue laying on the hurt; their claws just as caustic as before. Either way, regardless of if this kick hit or missed, it'd give the bird enough of a chance to slip out from under Scarab. Following up, they'd proceed to take flight - wings beating - and they'd swoop past Scarab in a Fly-By as they put some space between themselves and the Stingmon...!
- Crowlomon is struck by Spiking Strike, and is pinned to the ground by the wing. - In their desperation, Crowlomon's digivolution is triggered, and they digivolve into Carriomon! - Carriomon lashes out with a basic kick at Scarab to get out from under him, then follows it up with a Fly By
Move Used: [ATTACK] Fly-By: Carriomon dives past the enemy; striking at them with their claws and talons as they pass!
Passives Known: [PASSIVE] Caustic: Carriomon's attacks are acidic in nature; the more they fight someone, the more that any outer armor or defenses are worn away...! For each attack that Carriomon is able to land on the enemy, that enemy gain a stack of Caustic. For each stack of Caustic an enemy has, they lose 8% defense; up to a maximum of 40% at 5 stacks..! Tentomon just...sighed. He heaved a heavy sigh in frustration as, lo and behold, the fight had come to him. Scarab had effectively pinned Crowlomon down, and was raising another gauntlet to drive the finishing blow through the core, as the pleading the kid gave...reached his ears.
...
There was hesitation. Hesitation born from the fact that in some ways, these two were similar. That hesitation granted Crowlomon the reprieve needed to digivolve in desperation, and beat Scarab back and away. "Oh, NOW you decide to try?!" He barked as he was sent back, before he swiftly regained his balance to find Crowlomon--no, Carriomon flying towards him, with his response being to fly TOWARDS Carriomon. Sure, he took the Fly-by as a result, and sure, the corrosion began to eat away at his chitin with a renewed vigor, but once he was close enough?
He tried to grab Carriomon. He tried to grapple Carriomon, and if he was successful? He'd start to vibrate intensely, an act that raised his temperature to heights that one would assume were a little ridiculous in either Fahrenheit or Celsius. This was...a strange move but it was meant for roasting the victim alive. What would the birb do? Relevant Passives:
Skyrazor [Passive]: Scarab prides himself on how quick on the draw he is, and his capabilities at Stingmon provide plenty to back that pride up. Stingmon gains a 20% increase to his speed and overall reaction time compared to most other Digimon at his level.
Chitin [Passive]: On top of this, did you know that Stingmon are an exceptionally durable species of insectoid? Scarab enjoys a 20% increase to his defense against attacks, unless struck by a move that removes passive resistances/immunities. Scarab is kicked, and flies back before he tries to fly AT Carriomon, taking Fly-By, but using whatever brief moment of being close he can get to try using Hell Squeeze. Also, holy shit, taking a 22% defense debuff is NOT fun.
Hell Squeeze: Stingmon attempts to grapple his opponent (optimally in a full nelson) before he begins to vibrate at an intense pace, an act that raises his temperature to insane heights while trying to roast his opponent alive. He’s capable of holding this grapple for a while (a post), but not for too long, as his vibrating threatens to burn him as well. In addition, this does not prevent the foe from using named abilities. It just prevents movement. Three turn cooldown.
Rookie Caustic Stacks: 3 - 24% Champion Caustic Stacks: 2 - 16%
Cooldowns: Moon Shooter: 2/2 Spiking Strike: 1/2 Hell Squeeze: Waiting for that grapple...

It seemed as though it was less that Crowlomon - now Carriomon - was finally actually deciding to try to fight, and...
... More that this digivolution was completely new to them, and that they were acting out of fight or flight. Their movements were awkward - almost as though they were trying to move with stilts on - and their movements were hurried and simply focused on trying to get away; which left them completely open to the grab as they attempted to pass by. Once more, they would be squawking and struggling; attempting to claw at Scarab, and putting up a far more respectable fight in trying to get away from Scarab, though the Stingmon's grasp on them was strong still.
As the temperatures began to rise to dangerous levels though, and as Scarab seemed as though he wasn't about to lose his grip on Carriomon anytime soon...
... Suddenly, Carriomon vanished.
Melting away into shadows, Scarab would suddenly find himself holding onto nothing; a black void that would disappear downward into Scarab's own shadow, before vanishing completely.
The sound of beating wings, a few seconds later, would be the only thing that would reveal where the Carriomon had gone off to; a tree a bit ways away from Scarab, where Carriomon would reform and fly upwards to one of the lower perches. They were breathing heavily, a shaky hand over their chest as they attempted to calm themself, eyes slightly wide as they stared Scarab down. It's okay. They were okay. They only barely understood what the hell they just did, but they were alive...
They... They could win now, couldn't they? They just had to beat this insect down, and get far, far, away from here... It was okay...
For the time being, Carriomon would be completely silent; staring at Scarab, waiting to see what he would do.
- Carriomon is grabbed and grappled by Stingmon, and attempts to claw and struggle... - ... However, while unable to break out of the grapple, they manage to slip away with Fadeaway!
Move Used: [ABILITY] Fadeaway: Carriomon melts into shadows; disappearing from sight, and then reappearing elsewhere in the vicinity. [3 Turn Cooldown]
Passives Known: [PASSIVE] Caustic: Carriomon's attacks are acidic in nature; the more they fight someone, the more that any outer armor or defenses are worn away...! As was said earlier? Hesitation had led to this. Hesitation as well as the realization of commonalities that existed between Carriomon and Scarab. And thus, Carriomon was slowly being subject to Hell Squeeze for but a few moments, with the bird managing to slip out of there in the nick of time before Scarab could try making some fried chicken today.
The Stingmon was taken aback at this, but quickly shook his head. Of course, relocation-based abilities like that were something to be expected. The noise made would quickly alert the Stingmon as to his adversary's location. The insect took a few breaths, staring Carriomon down.
It appeared as though it was he who had to make the first move in this regard. Scarab took further into the air, firing his Moon Shooter downwards at the branch Carriomon was on, threatening to skewer the bird with multiple spikes again. While he didn't care too much if Carriomon dodged this, the intent was to get them back into the air and away from the branch.
And hopefully bait them into coming closer.
Scarab presses the attack, flying up and firing Moon Shooter at Carriomon to flush them out.
Moon Shooter: So, you know those spikes on Stingmon's arms? He can fire them. They serve as some rather useful, if not pointy projectiles, and he has an unlimited amount to spare. Scarab can empower this ability further to fire a multitude of spikes, but this adds an additional turn of cooldown, and is also not quite as accurate. One turn cooldown, normally. Two if multiple spikes are fired.

It seemed that the Stingmon wasn't keen on letting Carriomon slip away that easily. The crow digimon would remain perched up in the branch for the time being; wings readied, as they saw Scarab ascend up into the air; the insect clearly planning to try something.
And that something, as they would quickly find out, was yet another Moon Shooter; a wide spray of spikes raining downwards towards them! With the wild spray and general inaccuracy, on top of being readied this time around, dodging the rain of spikes wasn't too hard; Carriomon diving low and underneath Scarab, to use the inertia of the dive to attempt to move evasively.
On top of those evasive maneuvers, though... The avian would let loose another Raucous Crow at Scarab; relying on the ranged nature of the move, to keep their distance for the time being..! They weren't sure whether to bail, or to keep fighting, if they were quite honest; Carriomon occasionally casting glances in the direction of Tentomon and the boat, but making no move towards it otherwise.
Really, what they were mostly banking on, was for this fight to end in their favor in whatever way - be that this Stingmon backing off, them beating this Stingmon's ass, or them managing to make a slick getaway.
- Carriomon dodges Moon Shooter; diving low and gliding to maneuver away from Scarab - As Carriomon moves, they let loose another Raucous Crow in his direction...!
Move Used: [ATTACK] Raucous Crow: Carriomon lets out a supernaturally loud caw at the foe; striking them with a burst of sonic energy! [1 Turn Cooldown]
Passives Known: [PASSIVE] Caustic: Carriomon's attacks are acidic in nature; the more they fight someone, the more that any outer armor or defenses are worn away...! While Scarab wasn't all too surprised at his Moon Shooter not quite hitting the mark this time, he had at least succeeded in flushing Carriomon out from their perch. That, after all, had been the original intent behind such a move.
The bird had opted to fly low and away from Scarab, so he had to rectify this by closing the distance, to put it simply. Scarab took a dive, aiming to maneuver around the Raucous Crow before being grazed on the side by the (acidic) sonic attack. Given his defense was practically in shambles, it was clear this was taking a toll on the Stingmon.
And yet, he pressed on, descending and picking a rock up from the ground before continuing his pursuit. Contrary to popular belief, this rock was not meant to crush anything, but it would serve a far grander purpose. As Scarab gave chase to Carriomon...He -hurled- the rock at the bird. At full force. It was only a basic attack, but anything to throw them off!
In the meanwhile, Hisato finally caught up to the fight to find a larger bird squaring off with Scarab. "...Sssssshit." He hissed, before glancing to Tentomon. "How come you're not doing anything here?"
"Not my job. If two assholes wanna fight for ferry rights, let 'em! I get more money anyways!" Relevant Passives: Skyrazor [Passive]: Scarab prides himself on how quick on the draw he is, and his capabilities at Stingmon provide plenty to back that pride up.
Scarab literally throws a rock as a basic attack. He's really doing this to scare the tar out of Carriomon, whether it hits or not. Oh, and also he takes damage from Raucuous Crow. This is hurting more than gacha salt.

Carriomon was content keeping their distance from Scarab, and remaining on the move in flight; not being sure as to what, exactly, the Stingmon might have up his sleeve at any given moment. Just as this Champion form was new to them, Scarab's Stingmon form was also somewhat new to them as well! If there was any sort of attack that Carriomon had even the slightest hunch or understanding of, though...
... It certainly wasn't going to be a rock of all things.
As Scarab threw it, it seemed that the Carriomon wouldn't expect it; for it would strike into the bird's hip, eliciting a startled squawk and "Ow! What the hell?!" With the strike of the rock, they'd flap their wings faster; wheeling about and craning their neck to try and see just what in the world struck him - cause it certainly wasn't an attack, for how little it hurt! When all that the Carriomon could find was a rock hitting the ground, though, they looked somewhat bewildered and incredulous.
Was the Stingmon even taking any of this seriously..??
Fight or flight starting to lean a bit more to fight, Carriomon would turn to face Scarab, looking readied to fight back. However, instead of coming in close...
... The crow digimon would open their beak wide, letting out a loud and mind-shattering screech, in Scarab's direction!
- Carriomon is struck by the rock, but is more bewildered than they are hurt. - In return, Carriomon uses Night Screech on Scarab!
Move Used: [ABILITY] Night Screech: Carriomon lets out a mind shattering screech; breaking the enemy's focus, and increasing all existing cooldowns by 1 turn. [3 Turn Cooldown]
Passives Known: [PASSIVE] Caustic: Carriomon's attacks are acidic in nature; the more they fight someone, the more that any outer armor or defenses are worn away...! The element one called surprise was something that Scarab found could be employed at any given moment, you just needed to do what most would call the unexpected. Then again, a rock had been employed earlier in the fight. Perhaps Carriomon didn't expect it to be reincorporated? That was something that'd escape the bug.
Regardless, the rock had done it's job. Now it was time for the Stingmon to keep up his end of the deal. He had to ensure that the bird had no time for respite. Scarab flew and dove for the Carriomon. The Stingmon was expecting retaliation from the bird, and to his credit, he was right! They let out another screech for him and he banked to the right and away from the reverberating waves of sound.
A rather interesting feat considering it was...sound. Scarab figured at this point that sound was this critter's big thing, so if he stayed away from that beak? He had this in the bag.
The Stingmon lunged, aiming to land a Spiking Strike upon the Carriomon! Relevant Passives: Skyrazor [Passive]: Scarab prides himself on how quick on the draw he is, and his capabilities at Stingmon provide plenty to back that pride up.
Scarab's starting to wisen up to Carriomon's main method of attack. So, he keeps to the side in order to avoid the Screech and lunges in for a Spiking Strike!
Spiking Strike: Scarab closes the hell in on his opponent and attempts to stab them with the spikes upon his wrist, which extend for this attack. This is capable of breaking through any kind of active shield at an equal level to Scarab. Two turn cooldown.

Carriomon couldn't help a curse, as Scarab banked way and around the burst that resulted from their Night Screech. They were getting sloppy, while still adjusting to this new form, and all it could do; and they were getting predictable, as well.
Though, there was still something that they hadn't shown yet, wasn't there?
As much as Carriomon had been trying to keep their distance from Scarab - given his strong melee-range moves - the Stingmon wasn't quite so keen on keeping away; closing the gap with a lunge, and the spikes on the insect's wrists readied! Acting almost instinctively, the corvid digimon would land, turn to face Scarab, and bring up their wings; almost as though to guard themselves....
... But, almost unexpectedly, the feathers at the outer edges of the Carriomon's wings would take on a sharp edge to them; laced with dark energy.
Carriomon hissed as they only half-heartedly dodged the attack - the spikes scraping and cutting into their side as a result. Really, dodging was only a secondary goal at this very second. Instead, the Carriomon was quite keen on landing a retaliatory strike of their own while the insectoid was open; slashing at Scarab with the now-sharp edges to their wings. If all went well, then the Stingmon having come into such close quarters would make it all the harder to dodge..!
- Carriomon doesn't make a strong attempt to dodge; taking damage from Spiking Strike - Instead, Carriomon is more keen on attempting to take Stingmon by surprise, with a Dark Crossing!
Move Used: [ATTACK] Dark Crossing: The feathers at the edge of Carriomon's wings become sharp blades of dark energy, with which they dive in and savagely slice at the foe..! [3 Turn Cooldown]
Passives Known: [PASSIVE] Caustic: Carriomon's attacks are acidic in nature; the more they fight someone, the more that any outer armor or defenses are worn away...! For each attack that Carriomon is able to land on the enemy, that enemy gains a stack of Caustic. For each stack of Caustic an enemy has, they lose 8% defense; up to a maximum of 40% at 5 stacks..! That really was one advantage Scarab held over Carriomon, wasn't it? While the bird was taking time to adjust to everything that the new form held to offer...Scarab had been able to hold this for quite some time. Since before he had even met Hisato, and he had been capable of using the form of the azure Stingmon to brutal effect, as proven months ago.
In performing that maneuver, though...He had gotten the bird to land, so naturally Scarab followed down. The attack not quite hitting it's mark was...troubling, but not as much as Carriomon suddenly revealing they had -actual moves- up their sleeve!
Going into close quarters with Scarab was not the best idea in the world, and this move did put Carriomon in the thick of it. Or, rather, it kept them in there. The Stingmon was able to move just enough that the Dark Crossing grazed his carapace, to noteworthy effect given the causticity of prior attacks. However, he tried a retaliatory attack of his own in the form of a headbutt! A pretty vicious one, too. If Carriomon were struck by this, they'd find their vitality being sapped a touch to fuel Scarab's own! Relevant Passives: Skyrazor [Passive]: Scarab prides himself on how quick on the draw he is, and his capabilities at Stingmon provide plenty to back that pride up.
Scarab makes a valiant attempt at avoiding Dark Crossing, but he's nicked by the wings. This is really getting him down to some amount of legs. He launches a counterattack in the form of Wicked Antennae to mitigate some damage.
Wicked Antennae: Scarab attempts to give his opponent a light (not really) headbutt if he's at a close enough range. This headbutt is not only fierce, but it also saps some of his opponent's vitality (10%, specifically) to restore Scarab's own. Three turn cooldown.

As Carriomon's strikes grazed at Scarab, they'd mutter a brief and soft curse under their breath; attempting to take a few steps back, as to regain some distance between the both of them - even if only a token amount. The Stingmon's carapace was looking rather worse for wear, they could tell at a glance; perhaps a few good hits would be all that they'd need, to take this Stingmon out..!
Allowing Scarab to get this up close, though, meant that he could quickly followup with another nasty attack; closing the distance and attempting to come in at Carriomon with a headbutt, even with the corvid's backing away! With the close range, it seemed as though the headbutt would be an easy hit; however...
... There was still another move, in the Carriomon's repertoire, that Scarab may have forgotten about.
Just as the headbutt was about to connect, the Carriomon would disappear; once more fading and melding into the shadows, beneath them both. However, they did not solely use their Fadeaway ability to, well, get away...
... Instead, there appeared to be another facet to this move, that they'd reveal now!
Reappearing behind Scarab - just beyond arm's reach - Carriomon would suddenly follow up their Fadeaway with another Raucous Crow, all the whilst taking flight! Hoping that Scarab would be at least a little dazed or caught off-guard by this trick, Carriomon would begin moving back and away, to regain distance between the two of them. "Dammit, do you ever give up..?!" They'd hiss; though not to anyone in particular, even though the 'you' was likely referring to Scarab.
- Carriomon dodges Wicked Antennae by using Fadeaway... - ... However, upon reappearing behind Scarab, they follow up with a sudden Raucous Crow, and begin moving away from him...!
Moves Used: [ABILITY] Fadeaway: Carriomon melts into shadows; disappearing from sight, and then reappearing elsewhere in the vicinity. This may be done alongside another move; though doing so increases both cooldowns by 1. [3 Turn Cooldown]
[ATTACK] Raucous Crow: Carriomon lets out a supernaturally loud caw at the foe; striking them with a burst of sonic energy! [1 Turn Cooldown]
Passives Known: [PASSIVE] Caustic: Carriomon's attacks are acidic in nature; the more they fight someone, the more that any outer armor or defenses are worn away...! It wasn't so much as Scarab forgot about the Carriomon's ability to fade from view. No, he knew they were more than capable of that. It was just he wasn't sure how long the bird had to wait before using it again. Thankfully, such a question would be swiftly answered. As the bird faded from view, Scarab had to think where they might show up next. Not anywhere in his field of vision, but...
This crow was tricky, and if there was anything any trickster enjoyed employing, it was an attack from behind. Ergo, Scarab had to fly up, and fast. And fly up he did! But not in enough time to just avoid that attack.
Scarab's -very form- started to fizzle with that. A sign that the now visibly wounded insect was very much approaching his last legs. And despite all of that? "If you know who the fuck I am, then you obviously know the answer to that." The Stingmon hissed. He wasn't about to give up. Not unless he was slain or given a damn good reason. Turning towards the Carriomon, Scarab fired a Moon Shooter aimed right for the wing of the bird. A single one, as precise as can be. Relevant Passives: Skyrazor [Passive]: Scarab prides himself on how quick on the draw he is, and his capabilities at Stingmon provide plenty to back that pride up.
Taking another hit, Scarab is...seriously showing wear and tear from the fight. He is not, however, giving up. If Carriomon knows the Stingmon's reputation, they probably know one or two ways to get this bug to piss off.
Caustic Stacks - 5 - 40%, maxed.

Scarab was getting worn down; Carriomon could easily see it, in the way that Scarab fizzled, his carapace having visible dents where the acidic edge to their attacks burnt through it... But, even with how injured Scarab was, he wasn't keen on giving up quite yet; that much was obvious. Carriomon couldn't help but feel almost unnerved by this; they weren't exactly looking to kill the Stingmon, after all - he could back off, and they'd just mug him for some pocket change then leave.
Yet, even despite that, Scarab was continued to fight. Was he really that strapped for cash? Or was he really that unafraid to go as far as to fight to the death, even..?
As Scarab fired off a single Moon Shooter at Carriomon, the avian digimon would be suddenly shook from their thoughts, and attempted to dive out of the way. However, with as distracted as they were, and with this single one being far more precise than they had expected, it would slam into their shoulder; drawing a brief squawk of pain from them..!
Their flight would waver slightly, but they didn't fall quite yet; seeming to be attempting to continue to fly through the pain, as difficult as it was to keep flying straight. Even if Scarab seemed to be the more injured of the two, Carriomon was starting to accumulate some damage of their own, as well. Growling to themself and grinding their beak, Carriomon would dive in towards Scarab; attempting to swipe at him once more with another Fly-By.
- Carriomon is struck in the shoulder with Moon Shooter, and seems to be having trouble flying straight! - Diving in, they attempt to retaliate with a Fly-By as they pass..!
Worn as he may have been, the one thing that kept Scarab going was simple. He always saw a fight through to the end. With a few noteworthy exceptions. But usually to the end. This was not one of those exceptions, however. The Carriomon seemed startled by the solitary Moon Shooter that the Stingmon had fired for them, which led to a shoulder wound.
Not the best thing to get when you're a bird, really. Especially one who's arms doubled as their wings, such as Carriomon. This infuriated them enough to have them dive at Scarab, which...well, they had seen him use Hell Squeeze before, right?
This was a bad idea if they had.
Scarab would maneuver to the side before he lunged for Carriomon, aiming to try and catch them in a hold (maybe a Full Nelson if he were lucky, who knew) before he would begin the intense vibrations to raise his temperature! Would Carriomon be able to get away in time? Or would this start to spell an end for one of the two? Relevant Passives: Skyrazor [Passive]: Scarab prides himself on how quick on the draw he is, and his capabilities at Stingmon provide plenty to back that pride up.
Scarab manages to avoid Fly-By narrowly, and tries to catch Carriomon in their dive with Hell Squeeze!
Three turn cooldown
Caustic Stacks - 5 - 40%, maxed.

Their flying unsteady and wavering as a result of the Moon Shooter to the shoulder, it was easy for Scarab to sidestep around them and dodge their attack. Though Carriomon tried to recover from this fumble and put distance between the both of them by hurriedly flapping his wings (despite the shooting pains in their shoulder,) Scarab would then lunge forward; grabbing at them!
Carriomon would squawk and screech as they flailed and lashed out in Scarab's arms, trying to make the act of restraining them as hellish as possible; though they would be unable to break away from the Stingmon, as he began to vibrate..! The only saving grace would be that this was not the Full Nelson that Scarab was trying to go for; one of Carriomon's arms being free.
As a result of this, the thief digimon would soon focus his flailing and lashing about; reaching back, clawing and tearing at Scarab the best they could, with a Fly-By (albeit minus the actual flying-by!) Claws swiped at wherever they could reach; they were not going to go down without a fight, that much was obvious. Though, as the points where Carriomon was pressed up against Scarab began to only get hotter and hotter to the touch, Carriomon's mind was racing; only being able to hope that if they clawed at Scarab hard enough - past his weakened chitin - that they'd be able to deal enough damage to convince the Stingmon to let them go...!
- Carriomon is grabbed by Hell Squeeze, and unable to break free! - In response, they begin to lash out and flail with Fly-By once more (even though no flying was really involved)
