Ophelia couldn't help a small squeak of her own, at Bu returning the boop; though she was quick to laugh, grinning widely. "Hahaha, hey..!" She'd remark; giving Bu a playful look, and sticking her tongue out at the Ryudamon. "How's your eyesight, huh?" Ophelia questioned, adding "I know that I can see in the dark pretty good, on top of my own sense of smell."
Sight-y? Cassie wasn't too sure if that was really a word, but... She'd giggle, and nod her agreement. "Yup! I'm super sight-y underwater!" She'd agree; grinning widely.
Callus would take a second to listen to Bu's words, and think them over, before nodding a bit in understanding. "That's perfectly understandable." He'd mention with a warm smile; admitting "It honestly took me a bit, too, to get used to me and Gertrude having Ophelia, Cassie, and Laertes all to take care of. It was my first foray into being a father, much like this is probably your guys' first foray into being partnered to a Tamer."
"It's okay if it takes you time to get used to Yui. Just try your best to keep each other safe in the meantime, I'd say." Callus would conclude, slowly nodding to Bu. "Humans can be fragile, compared to us, after all. She'll likely be relying on you, just as much as you two'll have to rely on her."
"I'm sure you three'll be like peas in a pod in no time!" Cassie commented; smiling warmly to Bu.
With Ophelia's sleepiness, though... Bu pointing it out, on top of Cassie's teasing, would make the Spadamon pout; though there was a certain hue of amusement to it, even as she puffed her cheeks at Bu. "Y'all are ganging the hell up on meeeee..." She'd complain; burying her face against Bu's shoulder, and snickering a bit.
Still, it seemed that them snuggling up and dozing off some would sound nice... Yawning a second time, Ophelia would tightly hug Bu close, as Gertrude and Callus both carefully made their way into the nest; Cassie and Laertes both snuggling up to their parents. "Mmm... Maybe the snowstorm'll die down, some, once we nap the trip up here off.." Ophelia mused out loud; lazily nuzzling the Ryudamon.

Her eyesight...Well, it wasn't anything award-winning or 20/20 vision, buuuuuut... "I don't gotta wear glasses, but I can somewhat see in the dark too. That count for anything?" Bu didn't want to imagine what a Ryudamon in glasses would look like. Or a Spadamon. Or anything in glasses, really!
She focused more on Callus' words, though. That it was fine if it took time for them to get used to Yui. It took a bit for himself to get used to having a family, after all. This was a similar matter to that. "It definitely is, but...I think I can get used to it. Yeah, humans are really...fragile, but they're still capable of so much. It's kind of perplexing to me, how it works...But I was never much a thinker in the first place, right?"
Bu finished that bit by snickering at Cassie's commentary. She grew a biiit concerned at Ophi pouting, though. Did she do a goof? Hm. The lioness burying her face in the shoulder of the dragon seemed to indicate otherwise. Probably nothing to worry about! "I-I mean, I didn't intend to gang up on you? I was just pointing it out..." Bu stated before she pat the Spadamon on the head. "It's fine to be sleepy, I'll stay with you as long as you want." The Ryudamon spoke, nuzzling the Spadamon closely.
"That's a promise. So, rest up, okay...?"

"Hell yeah!" Ophelia would grin brightly, adding "Maybe if the sky's clear tonight, once we wake up, we could do some stargazing together; as much as I enjoy the clear skies out beyond the mountains, the stars are extra bright up here." Maybe it was because there were fewer lights, up in the mountains? She recalled there being such a thing as light pollution, when it came to stargazing...
"I think that you have a plenty bright mind in there, Bu; even if you don't think yourself as being much of a thinker." Callus would politely disagree; gently tapping the top of the Ryudamon's head. "There's different kinds of 'smarts' in the world, after all; and we're all better at certain types of smarts, than we are at other types of smarts. Though... I'm getting sidetracked, aren't I?" The Panjyamon would sheepishly scratch his head, and chuckle a bit.
As Bu tried to clarify herself, Ophelia would simply laugh - her voice muffled against the Ryudamon's shoulder. "You're fiiine, I'm just whining a lil." Ophelia mentioned; pulling her face away just enough that she could give Bu a playful raspberry, and grin lopsidedly and lazily. "I 'ppreciate it, though..." She'd add with a hum; sighing in relaxation at the headpat, and the nuzzle.
With Bu's promise and reassurance, though... The family would begin to hunker down, snuggling together in the nest; the two parents holding their children close, including Ophelia and Bu both - whom Callus would cradle close in his arms, if the Ryudamon allowed him to. "Night night, Bu!" Cassie would chirp, from her spot - sprawled across Gertrude's lap, as Laertes hugged her like a teddy bear.

Bu's eyes pretty much widened like a pair of dinnerplates at the suggestion of stargazing. Not to say that caught her offguard, but she didn't necessarily expect to be asked to go stargazing! "...I'd love to look at the stars with you. But when we wake up, obviously!" It was clear there was some barely contained excitement behind these words. What brought the Ryudamon down a slight peg or two was that pap from Callus. "I guess you do have a point...It's just unconventional smarts, y'know?" That was one way she viewed it as. "You might be, but I don't see any issue." She concluded.
"Well, I'm glad you appreciate it, then! Because I mean it!"
Even while she allowed the elder Panjyamon to hold her and Ophelia close, Bu would notably move to hug Ophi tightly in her arms. Whereas this journey had been started with Bu in Ophelia's arms, the tables seemed to have turned some, with the Ryudamon doing her damndest to hold the Spadamon close.
"Night night..." Was she trying to fall asleep now? Maybe. It was really warm, perfectly conducive for such a thing.

"Definitely after we wake up," Ophelia agreed with a laugh; smiling warmly to Bu. "The storm'll probably not let up for a little while, anyways."
At Bu's response, Callus would smile warmly to her, chuckling once again. "It's nice to see that Ophelia's picked a mate like you, with how understanding you appear to be." He'd muse; a certain familial warmth to his gaze. "You shouldn't discount your intelligence so easily, though; whatever sorts of smarts you're best at, it's still smarts, even if you don't put it to use in any 'typical' ways."
At Bu's insistence that she meant what she said, though, Ophelia would laugh; briefly nuzzling the Ryudamon. "I appreciate it, and I appreciate you..." She'd hum, her relaxed gaze half lidded and lazy...
Indeed, in the snuggle pile - protected from the chilling winds by the den, and sharing each other's body warmth - it was quite warm and cozy, almost as though they weren't sheltered away from the snowstorm that would blow outside the den. Just as Bu was tightly hugging Ophelia, the Spadamon would be tightly hugging her back; her tail tip contentedly and lazily twitching back and forth. There would be a consistent soft purring from Callus and Ophelia both, as well, that seemed to help lull the family to sleep; as they would, one by one, drift to sleep...
...
With the lack of any proper clocks - excluding perhaps Bu's own D-Nexus - it'd be hard to say what time it was, though, as the family began to stir, one by one. There wasn't much light from outside - which could easily mean either nighttime, or that the storm was still raging; but the lack of howling winds seemed to imply the former.
Perhaps, upon waking up, Bu would even notice that Gertrude and Ophelia both were absent from the snuggle pile; though Cassie, Laertes, and Callus would all still be waking up, rubbing their eyes and softly yawning. However, one thing to note, would also be that they were grooming each other; running claws thru fur to untangle it and pick out any bits that might've gotten caught in it.
Upon noticing that Bu was awake, though, Cassie would pause from grooming Laertes' fur, and grin a bit lopsidedly in her direction. "Oh, Mornin', Bu! Or... I guess I should say Evening, huh? Eheh...!" She'd greet the Ryudamon, giggling. "Storm's died down, and Ophi and Mom are out sparring, if you wanna go watch - Ophelia tried to wake you up to let you know, but..." She briefly paused to sheepishly scratch her cheek, concluding "You just sorta kept sleeping, eheh... You sleep harder than Dad does!"
Callus would give Cassie an amused smile at this; mentioning "I don't know about that, my little shooting star." in a teasing tone. "Last I checked, I'm usually the one waking you up,"
"Daaaaad-"
"Anyhow... Probably should be careful getting close, though." Laertes warned briefly. "They get caught up in their spars pretty easily."

Callus' words were not lost on Bu, but at the same time she was...a touch too sleepy to actually respond to them immediately, right at this moment. She did make a happy noise at Ophi's appreciation, however. She always seemed to enjoy the lioness' praise. "Y-You too." She whispered right back in the lion's ear.
One by one, everyone drifted to sleep in the midst of a storm that seemed to have no power here thanks to the inherent warmth of the den. With Bu having the only clock in the den, it was definitely a challenge to discern what time it was, but enough time had elapsed while everybody was asleep to make it so that the storm itself had passed. Bu slowly rose up to her feet and opened her eyes to note the absence of Gertrude and Ophi. The Ryudamon turned to Laertes and Cassie, as though they might know what happened.
"O-Oh...Uh. Yeah, I have a bad habit of that, sorry...I'll go watch, sure." She quickly sprinted out of the den to go find this spar! ...And probably disregard what Laertes said, too.

As Bu sprinted out of the den, Callus couldn't help a brief chuckle. "Ah..." He'd sigh fondly, smiling to Cassie and Laertes. "Watching you kids find mates for yourselves is making me feel old; though it also makes me think of when I first met Gertrude.."
...
In leaving the den, Bu would be greeted by a late night sky; a decent amount of cloud cover obscuring some of the stars, though the occasional gap in the clouds would allow one to see the twinkling stars beyond. A light breeze blew across the mountainside, and it was still quite cold; but the cold wasn't as unbearable as it was before, with the extreme wind chill, surprisingly enough.
Tracks in the snow, as well as the scents in the air, would easily tell Bu which way Ophelia and Gertrude both went; a short walk away from the den, likely so as to avoid disturbing the others with any fighting. And if she were to follow this trail, it would be likely that she'd eventually come to hear the fighting in question; the clash of weapons, as well as spirited roars that'd carry well over the open space of the mountainside. And once the two came into view?
She'd be greeted with the sight of Ophelia, in her Panjyamon form, her Azure Fang - in the shape of a halberd - locked in a clash against Gertrude's twin axes. The Blizzarmon towered over Ophelia easily, even with the Panjyamon form's height; and judging by the way that Ophelia's arms were lightly shaking, claws digging yet skidding in the snow... It seemed that Gertrude's strength, at the time being, was greater as well. On top of this, Ophelia seemed to be a bit more hurt than Gertrude was; and yet, even with this seeming disadvantage, Ophelia's fangs were bared in ferocity and determination.
The clash would finally break when Gertrude would raise one of her axes, and brought it down with a roar; forcing Ophelia to dive out of the way, even as the blade of the axe grazed against her side. The Panjyamon rolled in the snow, before quickly rising to her feet; panting heavily, but ready to dart in with her Frozen Dragoon, in an attempt to strike Gertrude from above! Gertrude, readied, would cross both axes in front of herself to block the incoming stab as Ophelia slammed into her, before turning one of the axes so that the blade faced the lioness and roughly swinging it to the side - sending Ophelia flying to the side and tumbling, a cut being left across the front of her chest.
This was just a spar, and yet both of them were going at it quite wildly... Even if Laertes' warning was disregarded, it was hard to say just how safe it'd be, to get in the middle, when neither of them had even noticed Bu's approach yet...

Bu had never found the time to properly appreciate the night sky of the frozen tundra, but, here she was. There was no better time than now, but for the moment, she had a spar to catch, and a mate to cheer on. What she was greeted with was a rather strange sight, Ophi being dwarfed in size by her mother, yet still being able to put up one hell of a fight.
It was that determination that sparked Bu's interest in this girl, truth be told. She thought it was rather endearing. In time, however, the clash broke, and Ophi was forced to take evasive maneuvers against the hulking Blizzarmon.
Bu might not have announced her presence, but what she was about to do next might betray the fact she was here. "You can do it, Ophi!" She shouted! It was simple, but it pretty much evoked one thing that could be considered a truth.
She believed in Ophelia.

Gertrude didn't seem keen on giving Ophelia a chance to get up, from the looks of things. As soon as the Panjyamon hit the ground - the impact softened by the snow - the massive Blizzarmon would follow up her counterstrike by slamming her axes into the earth; sending out a shockwave of ice and snow in the lioness' direction!
Ophelia, though, was quick to move; her feline grace seeming to aid her well as she leapt out of the way, rolling to her feet in the process. She was breathing heavily, looking tuckered out; even as Gertrude still stood strong. Hearing Bu's shout seemed to make the Panjyamon blink for a second, though; glancing in the Ryudamon's direction, as though she was surprised. The encouragement made her grin a little, and she'd move to flash Bu a thumbs up...
... But the momentary distraction didn't seem to help, as Gertrude charged forward faster than one might expect, given her size - swinging the blunt of her axe into Ophelia's side. The Panjyamon did her best to dodge, though was still clipped in a glancing blow; sent stumbling into the snow. "Stay focused on the fight!" Gertrude would roar; as though scolding Ophelia. "Distractions can be fatal in a flash!"
Ophelia coughed a bit; the breath knocked out of her with the blow, but she'd still attempt to stand up; something flickering in her expression, though it was hard to read. She'd simply harden her gaze in Gertrude's direction once more, even as she swayed slightly on her feet; the blade of her halberd increasing in size, as she attempted to charge and swing at the Blizzarmon with a Glaciersplitter...!
Gertrude would move to block the attack as usual; but it seemed this time around, Ophelia's attack was stronger than she expected - Gertrude's feet skidding backwards a short distance, even as she attempted to hold her ground. Instead of continuing to hold her ground, though, she'd lash out with a kick at Ophelia - forcing the Panjyamon to dodge backwards, and disengage.
Forcing Ophelia to go on the defensive again, Gertrude charged in; laying down a flurry of furious blows with her twin axes with a spirited roar. Ophelia attempted to form an ice buckler, to protect herself; but the blunt splitting power of the axes shattered it easily, breaking through Ophelia's defenses, and soon knocking her to the snow. Only when she fell over would Gertrude let up; huffing briefly, staring down at the Panjyamon with a sharp gaze.

Bu hadn't been expecting Ophelia to regard her attempt at cheering her on, and seeing that thumbs up did lift her spirits...However. Bu was unaware of Gertrude essentially being akin to a drill sergeant in a spar.
The last thing she wanted to do was cause Ophelia harm, or worse, get her killed. So, she just scrambled away from the fight. No, she didn't go back into the den, she simply found a spot close enough to the fight where she could view it without much danger coming her way, if at all.
It was worth noting that she was keeping a close eye on what Gertrude and Ophelia were pulling, mainly the similarities and differences in how they fought. This came to a head as Gertrude knocked Ophelia over, declaring a seeming winner here. "...Is it over?"
A simple question.

There would only be silence in response to Bu's simple question; at least, at first. Gertrude would be staring down Ophelia; the Panjyamon groaning as she pushed herself up to sit up in the snow, having to prop herself with a shaking arm. The lioness reached to her Azure Fang - the weapon having fallen from her grip when she fell over - and grabbed it with her free hand; seemingly keen on continuing the fight, and yet...
"... It's over."
Gertrude would confirm Bu's question; and just like that, it seemed that simple phrase was enough for Ophelia to stop trying to fight as well - the lioness flopping back into the snow.
Almost as though she was finally able to breathe, Ophelia would take a slow and deep inhale, before exhaling, and inhaling again; catching her breath, and every puff of her breath sending that usual white mist from one's breath into the air. "How..." She'd begin; pausing briefly to breathe. "How'd I do, then...?" It was an almost hopeful sounding question, by the tone; yet also almost resigned - almost as though she knew what to expect - as Ophelia glanced up to her mother.
Gertrude, though, would simply stare down to Ophelia for a few moments, before simply stating "Well enough." with a brief nod. Quietly, she'd turn away - moving back towards the den. "Come back to the den, when you're ready to come back to bed."
Ophelia would glance towards her mother as the other moved for the den; something flickering over her expression, too quick to read. "... Yeah... yeah..." Ophelia half-mumbled to Gertrude in response, nodding, as she'd finally sit up; devolving to her Spadamon form once more, and quietly peering over to Bu. "... Sorry you had to see me get my ass kicked, like that."
Why was she apologizing for this? Even she wasn't sure, at least at first.
But maybe... Maybe, to a small degree, she had hoped that she'd have been able to show off to Bu how strong she had gotten. But it seemed that even when she was at the same stage as her mother, it was always the same.

It seemed like the fight had ended almost the moment Bu had come up to watch, even if, in actuality, it lasted a fair bit longer. Yet, Ophelia seemed to want to continue even then. She...really wasn't the kind of gal to just give up that easily, was she? Bu could respect that, but she could also see the dangers that sort of mindset could hold.
The Ryudamon quietly walked towards the Panjyamon and waited for Gertrude to finish speaking, which didn't actually take very long considering how concise the Blizzarmon was. Regardless of what form Ophelia took, be it Panjyamon or Spadamon, the Ryudamon moved to hug the lioness from behind. "It's okay. I get my ass kicked sometimes too, sometimes worse than that. It's...It's nothing to apologize for, I think. I just liked watching you fight."
If nothing else? Bu liked being this close to Ophelia. She at least hoped it'd cheer her up.

Even if Bu approached Ophelia in silence, the Spadamon's ears would twitch; hearing the way that the snow crunched beneath her claws, as she approached. She would lean backwards into the Ryudamon's embrace, let out a heavy sigh, and tilt her head back against Bu's shoulder; briefly closing her eyes.
"... I suppose that I just thought, that... After digivolving into Ultimate, like Mom is, that I'd be able to fight on par with her..." She would mutter softly; adding "... But she kinda wiped the floor with me, there; even for as hard as I had fought."
Had she made a mistake, somewhere, in the fight? Could that have been why she lost? She didn't know; she wasn't sure where, in particular, she had messed up; and... It sort of made her wonder, if her fighting style in general was flawed. Or if she was flawed.
Stupid, stupid... Why couldn't she have done better against her mom, despite being at the same stage...?
... Ophelia would blink briefly, as she realized that she was digging her claws into her own palm; a slight stinging sensation bringing her out of her thoughts. Lifting up her hand, she could see the little pinpricks where her claws had pierced her; and she'd grumble briefly, licking at the tiny punctures to clean away the liquid data. The hell was she doing, hurting herself like that...?
Sighing, once she was done licking herself, Ophelia would slowly begin to stand; turning around to help Bu up, and wrap an arm around her waist. "Well... No use worrying over it," She'd decide, attempting to put on her usual grins. "Wanna sit closer to the den, snuggle a bit and go stargazing, like I promised? It's a bit cloudier than I expected, but..." Glancing upwards, at the slightly cloudy sky, she'd add "... There's still enough open sky, to see some of em..!"

"I...think it's a matter of experience? Maybe? She's been Ultimate longer than you've been able to reach the stage...so maybe she just has a better handle on her capabilities at that stage...?" Bu muttered quietly, before she nuzzled against Ophi. "I think you did good, though. I think you did really good..."
She was trying her best to be supportive, she really was. While Bu had not noticed Ophi digging her claw into her palm light that (her eyes were closed), she did perk up immensely at the offer to go stargazing. Right, they were gonna do that! "Yes! I-I don't care if there's clouds, if it's with you, I'm down! If there's stars to see, even better!" The Ryudamon accepted the help up and leaned in to give Ophi a squeeze. "Do you wanna pick a spot? Or...uh...do you have any place in mind here? I haven't gone stargazing in the mountains before, but I've done it at Ys--the highest points are usually the best places to do that from."
How'd Ophi respond to that?

At being nuzzled, Ophelia would make a soft, somewhat surprised sound - "Mrrp!" - before glancing to Bu; quietly thinking over the praises sung by the Ryudamon. Certainly, it felt good to be told that she did good. Praise felt good for just about anyone, really! Though...
... It just wasn't the same, either, as the praise that she wanted from her mom...
"..." Ophelia would remain quiet for a few seconds longer, as though mulling it all over, before she'd decide to smile to Bu. Nuzzling her back, Ophelia would briefly purr, before murmuring "Thanks. Maybe next time, I'll do better."
It seemed that they were both on board for some stargazing, though; and Ophelia was ready for some distractions from the recent spar. Purring once more at the squeeze, bunting her cheek against Bu's, she'd eventually take hold of the other's hand; guiding Bu along with her, as she began to move.
"The top of the cliff - the one that our den's dug into - is usually my favorite spot for stargazing!" She'd chirp with a warm smile in Bu's direction; tail swishing. "Just about anywhere's good, though, as long as you have a clear view of the sky. Being this far away from civilization, or any sources of light really, means that the stars get to be extra bright..!"
She'd lead Bu to a more sloped portion of the cliff side; and for a moment, would pause - wondering if Bu would be able to ascend here. Typically, she would hop her way up the rocks here; her feline balance, claws, and plenty of practice typically being enough to keep herself from slipping on the slick stone. But, did Bu have that same amount of balance or practice? Glancing back to the Ryudamon, Ophelia would decide to digivolve into Himamon briefly, offering "Want a ride?"
Were Bu to accept, she'd pick up the little dragonness - cradling her in her arms - before hopping her way up the stones with relative ease.
