By power of Fist, will they Coexist? [V-day Bero&Boss]

Boss swished the cup of wine between two scaled fingers, chomping down on a piece of chocolate that Bero made. They were damn good, for what it was worth being just random shapes with a gooey caramel center. The Tekkenryumon gave a solid thumbs up on the cooking work, did need help on presentation though. A few sips of wine later and the conversation got going. Bero explained that he just born incredibly aggressive and that he was seeking other things to fill in the time, but still wanted to be at the ready. It was vastly different from Boss, but he could understand it well enough. The aggressiveness probably came from something else that he wasn’t telling him, but he wasn’t gonna pry it out of him. Instead, he took another piece of chocolate and nodded.
“Well, for what it’s worth, I’d say you have a future in the kitchen, these are great.” he said, waving a half eaten piece before lobbing the rest of it in his maw.
But a deal was a deal. Even if Bero didn't completely spill the beans, Boss figured he should at least reciprocate a bit. "Well, in my case, fighting was my survival. Never a moment I could sleep because I was born in the Valley of the Dragons so every waking moment was constant fear. My master took me in and i learned to fight from him. It's where I usually get the urge to punch someone's face in, see if I'm stronger, that sort of thing.Rest is digital dust."
Once he was done, he rolled his eyes watching Bero decline a glass. “Come on, a drink isn’t gonna kill you. I never really drank a lot, my old master always harassed to share a drink with me, but I always told him that I had to be sharp if something happened. Living a little isn’t the worst thing in the world,” Boss remarked, finishing off his cup and immediately going for another glass of wine.
But still, it gave him some decent enough insight even if he wasn’t getting the full story. Boss leaned back in his chair and crossed his legs over another, his tail dragging across the ground, watching Bero glance at the battlefield. Some Digimon were watching a pair of drunkards fight off. They seemed to be having the time of their life, but the Darklizamon seemed completely unnamed.
And then an idea came into his head, along with a devilish smile.
“How’s about we fix that, then? I don’t think the food will be ready soon, so let’s work up an appetite, with a little condition,” Boss offered as he stood up, finishing his second glass of wine.
“Five minutes to try and take me down. You can digivolve, use whatever you deem necessary outside of harming innocent bystanders or the area too much. If you can’t, you have two glasses of wine and loosen up a bit. Deal?” he said, offering a handshake to signify the terms.

A future in the kitchen. Well, in reality, Bero had just applied his other talents to cooking in a logical fashion. After all, when you had a natural talent to discern all things heat related, certain jobs just came naturally to you. The praise was certainly a step in the right direction. He gave the Tekkenryumon a little nod in ‘appreciation’. Anything like this was a good start.
Boss explained that his fight was survival. An understandable struggle, in effect, Bero could relate with it, but he just had... a different perspective. His expression did ease up a bit at the idea. He felt something of a slight connection. He hoped that connection would make things easier, and not harder. He didn’t give a direct reply to it, giving himself some time to think, and focus on the alcohol issue.
Boss gave his own thoughts to that issue. “I’ve never thought of the stuff as living a little. The idea of using it never was of interest to me anyway.”
He rolled his eyes in return. But then Boss got this mischievous grin. Bero hated it instantly, not because he disliked mischief… but because he knew he had to go along with it to make a good impression. As Boss spoke, Bero's horn lit up ever so slightly. He gave Bero his condition, during which Bero stared at him intently. The Darklizamon’s body flickered about, the fires on it growing a little more wild with some sort of excitement. An interesting combat proposal, and something that would let Bero show off his ability. He stood up, only half Boss’ height, but offered his hand nonetheless. “Deal. I’ll be using nothing but my own strength though.”
Fighting against someone a higher stage than him would be a tough bet, but he had five whole minutes. Besides, a fight’s a fight. Bero was clearly quite eager, as he looked around for the right direction to get to the battlefield almost instantaneously. He was almost frantically looking around for the right direction to go.

“That’s what I like to hear!” Boss grinned as he stood up from the table, hand slamming down on it firmly. It had the secondary effect of gathering everyone’s attention in the restaurant proper and almost knocking down his wine bottle. Once all of that was said and done, Boss directed Bero towards the outside where the battlefield was now empty. Digimon both outside and inside were having their curiosity pointed towards the next fight of the day. From the small journey to the outside, one could probably hear the whisperings of the gossiping bystanders about the Tekkenryumon.
As expected, he was indeed a regular at the place and some people questioned his relationship to the owner and had their own wild ideas and theories. Some of them were pointed towards the Darklizamon and his relation to Boss. A few of them had called it right that he was on a date, but it wasn’t like they needed to know that. Boss made his way to the center of the field, stretching his limbs and cracking his neck while he waited for Bero to get himself ready. He told him that he could use whatever he deemed necessary for the five minutes, so that left him wondering what he had up his sleeve.
Any idiot could see that there was a very large gap in power between the two men. But the question was, would Bero close it up, or keep things as they are to prove himself even further? Boss’s slit green eyes watched the Darklizamon intently for any sudden movements, the Tekkenryumon slowly shifting into his battle-ready stance, which was odd for someone with battle experience. Most Digimon would lean in a certain direction, hunch or even bring up their fists to some degree. For Boss?
He simply stood there, arms crossed, standing tall like a mountain, his tail swishing about and occasionally slamming towards the ground. “Alright, you get the first move, timer starts when you do. Someone want to keep track?” He said, glancing towards one of the Burgermon dressed in a waiter’s outfit that had been assigned with being the referee of the field today. He put up a hand signifying five minutes and the Bugermon pulled out a stopwatch and nodded frantically.
“I’m hoping not to be disappointed that you’re all talk!” Boss declared.

Boss’ excitement was… eye-catching. Moreso than Bero’s. With various eyes focused on him, Bero glared in return, his horn glowing softly. By far, his appearance and name wasn’t nearly as known as that of Boss’, especially around this place where Boss was a regular. But some slight whispers had mentioned him. Infamous on tamernet as a general nuisance, it should be no real surprise to Bero. but there was still no end to his irritation at the fact. He shrugged off the idea though. These stares wouldn’t be a problem as long as Boss was also there. No one would be dumb enough to attack both of them… or perhaps just Boss. Bero was about to scope that out. He joined Boss to the battlefield, watched the guy stretch his organicode body. Little cracks and sounds came from the Tekkenryumon. Bero lifted an eye at them. “Never got you full organic code types. Why pretend to have impractical body parts we don’t need?”It was mostly just an off-handed comment. He looked to Boss, and looked at the surroundings. Without harming bystanders, he actually had little to no environmental benefits to pull here. Nothing but to prove what he was capable of doing by himself. Bero’s battle ready stance was incredibly standard, both feet at the ready, body shifting weight left and right, ready to suddenly move in any direction. Bero’s battle stance came with a sudden shift in mood and focus. Well, shift in focus, moreso that his black fire suddenly ran even darker, and his position became unclear. His body was somewhat distorted, blurry. It was like staring at something cross-eyed. Bero was in full combat focus, and his horn had dimmed. He didn’t bank on getting much value out of this ability, since it was defensive in nature. But you miss all the shots you don’t take. With that in mind, it was time for the very first shot to be taken. Bero started running up to Boss’ idle position, and right before him, crouched his legs before suddenly erupting into an uppercut. His body still seemed blurry as his clenched claws aimed for Boss’ chin. But the uppercut to the chin was just plan A. His other hand extended to Boss’ shoulder, his claws trying to seal around Boss’ shoulders in a vice-grip. Regardless if Boss had taken the hit to his chin or not, Bero would use his strength and momentum to swing himself upwards. For just a split-second, he was doing a one-handed handstand on Boss’ shoulder, before continuing to drop behind the Tekkenryumon and execute plan B. If Bero had successfully ended up behind Boss, hanging from the dragonman’s shoulder, he’d call upon the fury within him. His horn glowed as his body filled with sheer anger. It didn’t give him strength directly, but it let him go beyond his usual limits. Combining both his fury and his martial technique, he extended his leg in a powerful kick! He drove his heel into Boss’ lower back, straight into the middle, aiming for a hollow point to try and throw Boss off balance! If necessary, Bero would use Boss’ back as a jumping board to jump back away from Boss. Bero’s Dark Body takes effect, Reducing damage he would receive in the first round of combat! Bero approaches Boss and tries to uppercut him with a jump! (Basic attack) Bero attempts to grab Boss’ shoulder, and flip over behind Boss before attempting to kick him in the middle of his back. Bero performs the kick using Superior Technique with 5 stacks of “Basics Mastery” to upgrade the basic attack to be as powerful as a 1-turn cooldown named attack. Bero prepares to jump off of Boss’ back if possible/necessary. Stacks used = 5 Stacks gained normally = 5 [Combat Start] Additional stacks gained from passives = 0 New total Stacks of “Basics Mastery” = 0 Passives: Superior Technique[RAM upgrade GIGA] Combat Passive - Bero’s incredible technique lets him improvise his attacks and abilities, using his natural weapons and traits of his body’s code to great effectiveness. Bero starts each combat with 5 stacks of ‘Basics Mastery’ and every round he is in combat he gains 2 more stacks. He can hold a maximum of 15 stacks. Using 5 stacks allows him to empower one basic attack to deal damage equal to a named attack with a 1-turn cooldown. This attack counts as Bero’s named attack (or one of his named attacks, incase he’s 1 vs twins) for the post it is used. Other passives may give him more stacks of ‘Basics Mastery’ or methods to use it.
Dark Body (RAM upgrade) Combat Passive - Bero’s practice in evading notice has taken itself to the next level since he has been powered down. This stealth takes effect at the very start of combat, and whenever he goes down to exactly 0 stacks of 'Basics Mastery'. When this stealth takes effect, he partially dodges attacks aimed at him done after the turn it takes effect. This reduces his damage taken as if blocked by a 1-turn cooldown named block. (This makes it a pre-emptive passive block). This effect has a 1-post cooldown after it triggers. Attacks which ignore evasion, like homing attacks or pin-point snipe attacks can (and usually will) ignore this benefit.
Holy limiter Combat Passive - Due to his “Helmet of Virtues”, if Bero would be subject to an attack or an effect due to any of his attributes, families or types, the most convenient is always selected. If Bero’s attacks would be subjected to a defensive effect due to any of his attributes, families or types, the most convenient is always selected. Attribute: Virus, Vaccine. Family: Nightmare Soldier, Virus Buster. Type: Evil Dragon, Angel.
However, Bero cannot use any fire control or fire abilities.
Anger Management Combat Passive - Bero’s own powerlessness at the hands of his holy limiter infuriates him. He can channel his anger into empowering his Superior Technique passive. Every turn he is in combat he gains 2 extra stacks of ‘Basics Mastery’. Outside of the usual way to expend it, he may also use 4 stacks to empower one basic attack to deal damage equal to a named attack with a 0-turn cooldown. He may use multiple of these in a turn, but may not combine them with other methods of attacking with Superior Technique. When fighting twins or otherwise allowed to make an extra named ability, he gains 2 extra stacks of “Basics Mastery” every turn. If he were to use a named active ability via any means (given by cards or plot conditions) he loses all stacks of ‘Basics Mastery’ and does not gain any stacks this post.
Enough Chains!! Combat Passive - Bero’s already infuriated enough his powers are limited! Chaining him down, restricting him, limiting his actions or pushing him away from combat by some obvious or recognizable means (forcefields, chains, pushing away with wind, etc.) has reduced effectiveness on him, allowing him to resist 50% of the effects of such abilities. Every time he is targeted by an attempted restriction, he gains 1 stack of ‘Basics Mastery’.
Pyrobiology Combat Passive - Bero’s Fiery body works somewhat differently than other bodies. Despite having an actual body of sorts underneath his flames, His body acts as one mass of flames. Because of this, it is not possible to strike any ‘weakspots’ that Bero has. Because of this, Bero is immune to wound-based status effects, like damaging a leg or wounding an arm to hold him back. Any damage dealt to him is dealt to him as a whole instead of any parts. Fire attacks will damage him as normal due to the different nature of his fire body, and hitting him with fire actually angers him, giving him 1 stack of ‘Basics Mastery’.
Black Phoenix Resurgence Combat Passive - When critically hurt but not outright defeated, Bero gains a heal over time that heals him for 15% of his health every turn for 3 turns. This effect cannot trigger until after this healing over time has ended. When it has ended, the power of this passive is reduced by a stage and it can trigger again. Each reduced stage of effectiveness decreases the power of the heal by half it’s previous stage. The reduced effect remains for the entirety of the thread. Every time the Heal over time is started from taking damage, Bero gains 1 stack of ‘Basics Mastery’. If he is defeated while the heal is active, the heal is canceled instantly.
Powerless Anger Combat Passive - When shown up in power, by either seeing stronger moves he cannot perform or people using moves via means like cards, Bero’s anger manifests in more power. Whenever anyone, Allies or Enemies, use a move with 2 posts or more cooldown, Bero gains 1 stack of Basics Mastery. Whenever anyone uses a move via a Card or Artifact, Bero gains 1 stack of basics Mastery. Active moves: Nope.
Cooldowns:Dark Body is currently active, 0/1 turns cooldown passed.

After stretching and crossing his arms, Boss intently watched Bero warm himself up. Quite literally in fact. It was an almost fascinating method. The temperature around him began to increase in seconds around the Darklizamon as he commented on ‘impractical’ body parts, most likely due to Boss’s overabundance of stretching. He was right, they were digital beings, limbs being broken or anything of the sort was painful, but it wasn’t like it mattered all that much in the long scheme of things.
“It’s a sense of aesthetics and preference, my strikingly hot friend,” Boss commented. “Plus, I look damn well like this, don’t ya think?” The air around Bero began to grow hard to focus, a normal effect of high temperature places. Boss wasn’t one to get cross eyed, being a literal dragon used to the heat, but it was a neat trick nonetheless for anyone watching and unfortunate to be near him. Another bonus for Bero in the realm of impractical body parts, the black flames that covered his body made it hard to see how he carried himself unless it was extremely obvious moments. But even that didn’t escape Boss’s eyes. He just had to be more careful about it.
Once the timer started, Bero was on the move. In the few seconds that it took for the Darklizamon to close the distance, Boss thought up of several ways to upend the ground to prevent him from even getting close. But no, that wouldn’t be fun now, wouldn’t it? He was going to take this seriously, but he wanted to enjoy it a bit. Bero was right up in his face, Boss unflinching. When the flamed fist came up near his face, he simply bent his torso back a bit, but it didn’t seem Bero was done there. He saw another hand coming up toward his shoulder, like he was about to vault lift off him. That, he left slide, but only for the next bit.Since the Darklizamon decided that hanging on him was apparently the best idea to try and hit him in a sort of hand-stand moving into a kick, Boss decided to show him why it was a very bad idea. Most Digimon under his weight would have probably buckled and and not moved from the action. But Boss wasn't most Digimon. While he did in fact not move, what he did do was grab with the arm opposite of the shoulder the Darklizamon was occupying and just grab him from his little fanciful act. If he did, he was in for a world of hurt with a very good business meeting with the floor. Boss would just grab Bero and quite harshly slam him into the ground with one arm, then try to slam his wooden clog right on his body if he hit the ground like he expected.
It was times like this that Boss loved his freakish strength. It didn't make his punches any harder or faster than they were, but it made lifting things way easier and most things felt like a feather. Right now, Bero would probably classify as a light warm-up or even just the bar itself if he had to bench him.

The flaw of Bero’s plan, of course, was that physical contact meant that the blur effect was rendered practically useless. It didn’t help that it seemed less effective to stronger Digimon in general, but he had little else option than to roll with the punches. If only he could also roll well with the tosses, which he was just had to deal with. Twisting his body to land on his back, the black flames weakened and shook about, before a clogged foot followed shortly after. Even with his blurry body in place, Bero’s opponent wasn’t going to miss such an easy blow. Bero, however, did adjust himself to try and make the most out of it. The blurry effect vanished as Boss’ foot came down hard, on his head! The impact was noteworthy and caused rippling waves throughout his whole fire. Bero’s pastel rainbow mask glowed with a bright energy, but no heat or such was created from under Boss’ foot. Instead of a predictable energy blast, Bero resisted the pain thanks to his immeasurable anger and unique body. Focusing his anger and technique he extended his lower body, twisting it upwards with his body and slamming his knee into the inside of Boss’ knee, while his face was still under Boss’ clog! Bero’s tossed to the ground by Boss’ mighty throw! Bero moves his body so the kick lands on his face. Because of Pyrobiology & Enough Chains!!, he can resist the pain and move his body despite being pinned by the head! Bero twists his body behind Boss’ leg and attempts to shove his knee into the backside of Boss’ knee. Bero uses 4 stacks of ”Basics Mastery” with Anger Management to upgrade the attack to the power of a 0-turn cooldown named move! Stacks used = 4 Stacks gained normally = 4 [default per turn] Additional stacks gained from passives = 0 New total Stacks of “Basics Mastery” = 0 Passives: Superior Technique[RAM upgrade GIGA] Combat Passive - Bero’s incredible technique lets him improvise his attacks and abilities, using his natural weapons and traits of his body’s code to great effectiveness. Bero hit the ground with a thud, strong enough to shake the ground for a moment. Boss still grabbing at his arm. His clog hit the Darklizamon’s helmet with a satisfying ring that was enough to make his flames weaken and shake about like sparks for a few seconds. Pinned by the head and arm, Boss was curious to see what he would try next. You could see a very big grin on the dragon’s face despite the situation, almost like he was like a kid in a candy shop, the twinkle in his eye included.
As expected, Bero wasn’t one to make this situation a complete loss. Even with Boss pinning him down at the head and one arm bound, he somehow found the tenacity to reach around behind and knock at the knee. For the Darklizamon’s credit, he wasn’t expecting that. It made him buckle for a sheer second, but that was enough for Bero to try something. While at first glance, it didn’t seem to do much to Boss, it hurt a bit. Nothing he couldn’t shrug off due to their power gap, but it had a nice bite to it, he had to admit. Though, he still had the Darklizamon at the arm, which meant that he wasn’t leaving anywhere. With the weight of his entire body, Boss decided to play along with Bero’s move and buckle over and dislodge his head from his clog.
Only for the dragon man to switch and simply attempt to knee him from above since he still had another leg fully supporting him. Boss had just lifted his foot when Bero had hit him in the back of the knee and lifted his lower leg up and just let him crash down onto the Darklizamon’s helmeted face, knee first. If the clog didn’t knock him out, this was probably going to ring a few more bells. He had to admit, he was surprisingly durable. He’d been half tempted to just try and rip the Darklizamon’s arm clean off. But that wouldn’t have been smart in his attempt to wine and dine. Instead, causing mild concussions and lots of bruising was a lot more up his alley.

Bero was a split second late to see the second knee coming, but it was predictable to attack again. He had expected Boss to try and right himself and go for the punch. Luckily, he was still going for Bero’s head, and Bero had a unique advantage in martial combat to go for. After all, when you don’t have any weak points, you don’t have to care about where an enemy lands their blows. Bero turned his head so his chin was facing the sky, and Boss’ knee slammed into Bero’s chin, Once more causing some rippling waves through Bero’s body, but once again not stunning him! Bero could stretch his body even further up now that Boss’ knee was on his chin instead. The little extra reach is just what he needed to again, sling his body up. Only this time, he locked his legs around Boss’ tail as forcefully as he could. He needed his legs to wrap around the base of Boss’ tail. After all, he had gotten Boss to buckle and move his knee downwards, but if Boss could use his tail to stand back up again, there was little purpose in it. Bero used his legs to clamp onto the tail’s base as hard as he could and yanked it downward with fierce might, his horn glowing a little more. He was apparently content to keep familiar with the floor while trying to work Boss down to his level. Bero adjusts his head so his mask is facing the ground, and his neck/chin is up in the sky. Boss’ knee strikes directly on Bero’s chin! Because of Pyrobiology, Bero can resist the pain and not be stunned from the blow to the chin! Bero slings his body upwards again, only this time, clamps his legs around the base of Boss’ tail. He then tries to drag Boss down by the waist!
Cooldowns: None.

Boss had to admit, Bero’s…. desperation? Ingenuity? No, tenacity was the right word. His tenacity to keep on trying was impressing him somewhat. He took the knee right on his chin without flinching -most would have been knocked out cold from that alone- and even with one hand still gripped hard, he still tried something to get him to tumble over. Like a mountain unbending to the elements, Boss wasn’t going to go down so easy. He felt something clutch at his tail, but he didn’t even have to look behind him to see what it was.
Bero was trying to knock him over by taking him off balance with his tail. Under normal circumstances, that would have worked, but Boss’s tail was less like a third leg and more of like a weapon in of itself. The large, scaled spiky tail did swish about every so often, but it was incredibly unwieldy to the point that Boss just straight up never used it in a fight for the sake of balance and relied on his actual arms and legs. Most martial artists would probably train their tails like their own limbs, but the damn thing was like a club. And Bero would find that out once he’d see that Boss didn’t even flinch and instead just smiled at him.
“Cute,” Boss said, giving Bero a wink. “Ineffective, but i applaud the effort.”
Soon as those words left his mouth, his free arm began to catch fire. It was a bright orange flame that roared intensely in front of Bero. And said arm was on the way to colliding with his face from the side in a repetition of quick, but powerful punches. Out of their little tussle, it was the only actual move that Boss had made towards Bero outside of hand to hand. The fire from Brawling Dragons probably wasn’t going to do much, but the force of a Perfect level right at his face at high speeds was going to leave a mark in of itself since his friendship with the floor was about to become a VERY deep seated one with a Bero shaped crater being the initial start.

Bero was almost helpless, with his arm held and his face pinned to the ground. Boss seemed to mostly be amused, rather than rendered helpless or knocked down. Looks like Bero hadn’t found a sweet spot yet, but had garnered enough attention of Boss to see some more of the dragon man’s true potential. The flaming fist collided with Bero’s face multiple times, the flames of his body rippling and flickering with every impact. Bero wasn’t giving up yet though, even if it was close to the point he should give up. But he wasn’t trained for humility. He hadn’t practised honourable duels. His entire core and being was dedicated to two things alone. Anger, and a road to victory. He wasted no time in thinking and getting ready to execute his new move. As Boss’ fist once more collided with his face, Bero’s mask started frantically glowing brighter still, although not blindingly so. Black wings emanated from Bero’s back, great black fire searing up in them. Although Bero’s body was incapable of creating heat, the flames of the wings roiled as if in a fever pitch, pumping fire back into his body. This extra strength is exactly what Bero used to forcefully pull his arm from Boss’ grip. It wasn’t easy, and as the force he pulled with was comparable to trying to tear his own arm off, the flames on his entire body flickered, indicating the damage he inflicted himself to achieve this. The entire fiery body had slimmed down, appearing gangly and weak. Would Bero manage to tug his way out of the grip, no matter how much bodily harm it would cost himself, he’d tug his head out in much the same way. He used the strength of his legs to twist himself around Boss’ tail as if it were a steel pillar he was hanging from. After the attempt to sit on Boss’ tail, he snapped one foot upwards to stand on Boss’ tail with that one foot, wrapping his arms around the dragonman’s neck. He let out a shrill, unnatural and beastly shrieking sound, almost by habit rather than by purpose, right behind Boss’ head, before locking Boss’ chin into his elbows, reaching his head over Boss’ head. And with intense fury flowing through his helmet, Bero headbutted Boss’ face as hard as he could, while his arms tried to pull Boss’ face up into the headbutt, to try and make it hit that much harder! Bero’s black wings fuelled more Fire into his body, healing it slowly, but Bero was definitely just too close to his limit. If he had the chance, he would jump off of Boss’ back, stumbling to the ground, barely gaining any distance from his large, draconic opponent. His code was fizzling, and it seemed unstable. He was struggling to hold his champion form, but the fire from the two wings of his back were slowly fuelling into his body, restoring it, slowly stabilizing the code and helping him stay a champion. His eyes lacked any strategic definition, he hardly seemed to notice that multiple fighters were staring his direction from the unearthly screech he had let out earlier. His very gaze was consumed by fury, as if he was not in a casual fight, but rather ready to tear down everything surrounding him in a tantrum of the ages. But despite the seething fury in his eyes, his body adjusted and changed pose, to a martial pose, ready to try and dodge oncoming attacks. Weak, on his last legs, the fire flickering with the last of its energy. Bero takes the Brawling Dragons straight to his face! Ouch, that smarts. Bero gains a stack of “Basics Mastery” from being hit by a fire attack. Bero is put on low health! His Black Phoenix Resurgence activates, giving him a stack of “Basics Mastery” and slowly healing him. Bero attempts to tear his arm out from Boss’ grasp, damaging himself in the process, but not tearing his arm off because Pyrobiology evenly distributes damage to his body! Bero flips himself upright, sitting on top of Boss’ tail. He lets out a feral-digimon like shriek on there. Bero stands on Boss’ tail with one leg. He grabs Boss’ chin from behind and tries to force Boss to face upwards. Bero tries to headbutt Boss’ face, using 8 stacks of “Basics Mastery” to make the headbutt have the power of two 0-turn cooldown named moves. Bero attempt to jump off of Boss’ back, stumbling and barely remaining standing. He relies on Black Phoenix Resurgence’s healing to prevent him from de-digivolving. Stacks used = 8 Stacks gained normally = 4 [default per turn] Additional stacks gained from passives = 2 New total Stacks of “Basics Mastery” = 2 Passives: Superior Technique[RAM upgrade GIGA] Combat Passive - Bero’s incredible technique lets him improvise his attacks and abilities, using his natural weapons and traits of his body’s code to great effectiveness.
Cooldowns/Active Effects: Black Phoenix Resurgence: First Use (Full power), Currently active, 1/3 turns of healing passed.

There was something to be said for being put into the throes of desperation, Boss thought. You always got a sense of someone really deep inside when you pushed them to the edge, and it seemed like he was doing that with his date for today in the span of a five-minute period. Bero had taken the flaming fist to the face multiple times, a feat that didn’t escape the Perfect’s eyes by any means. His next part was to simply lift him up and see if he would admit defeat, but Bero continued with the surprises.
He in fact did not surrender, but also forcibly ripped his arm from Boss’s grip with enough force that should have torn his arm clean off. The fact that he stayed together was incredibly interesting. He wasn’t immortal, that was for sure with how his flames were subsiding, but he was definitely more durable than the average Digimon, which explained why he never faltered even with the most direct contact. He pretty much slid himself out from under Boss’s foot in the same manner, snaking behind him and jumped onto his back like a monkey. While the weight didn’t bother him, Bero’s hands grabbing at his face and forcing him to look up at the now black-flame winged Darklizamon.
Then he let loose what was probably the most monstrous screech he’d heard out of someone in a long while. It was so loud that everyone inside the restaurant as well had their attention diverted as well as anyone else fighting. Anyone in the surrounding area would be right in assuming someone was probably being deleted for their code. But in the seconds that Boss had to stare at Bero directly in the eye, all he found was raging anger and fury.
It was almost obscene to look at. Boss probably would have asked if he was okay if the Darklizamon hadn’t immediately headbutted him. The sound that erupted from the contact of scales versus metal was a loud and sharp clang. Boss hadn’t muttered so much as a peep, but his face was burning red from the impact. It stung like an absolute mother and his nose was very much broken, but it didn’t prevent him from what he was going to do next.
He grabbed at Bero from the tail after a bit of flailing around with his limbs, attempting to rip him off his shoulders if he was still grabbing at Boss’s face. With his freakish strength, there wasn’t any effort in lifting Bero around like a ragdoll, but he made it quick and easy. The rage coming from him was palpable and it reminded him of himself and what his master did when he got too into his rage, though a bit…unorthodox.
After lifting Bero up, he grabbed at both his arms and legs, kneeled, and swiftly brought him down, back at Boss’s knee for a backbreaker. He knew by now that it wasn’t going to permanently harm him, but at this point, they were probably going to cause more harm than good if Bero was veritably feral.
“And that’s the time!” The burgermon called out from the restaurant tables outside of the battlefield.
Sadly, Boss didn’t seem to hear it since he was too focused on knocking out Bero that the time limit had completely slipped his mind. He couldn’t stop himself, so all he could do was pray that the guy didn’t hate him after this once he felt flames collide with his knee forcefully.
"You couldn't have called it any earlier!?" Boss snarled at the Burgermon, who dropped the stopwatch and ran off to who knows where.

Bero felt a satisfying crack of the dragon Digimon’s nose. Despite the level disadvantage, he had done something that could be considered a dangerous attack. The satisfaction was short lived, though, as Boss went in full force to grab bero and ram his knee into Bero’s fiery back. The wings provided practically no defence, and his knee collided with Bero in full force.
While one would expected another screech, Bero bit through this with much less sound then expected, although his code fizzled and jittered for a moment before the fire’s rescinded and changed into blue code-energy. His helmet changed shape to that of a horn, keeping the pastel metallic colouring, as the force of the blow de-digivolved Bero to a Blackgabumon on the spot. He was also launched up in the air a small distance, before landing on the ground a few yards in front of Boss.
From which he slowly stood up and dusted himself off. There was still a fury in his eyes, but his body moved as if it was completely normal. “A learning experience. To say the least.”
His words carried both venom and honesty. They were no ruder than what he said before, even though he was a runt of a rookie Digimon, even less than 1/4th of Boss’ current height. His code was red on some parts, clearly damaged. But his breathing quickly balanced itself and he moved his Gabumon body with a natural ease. He was used to being hurt.
“I suppose I owe it to you to raise a glass now.” He said with a rather neutral expression as he took a deep breath and shook himself off once more. He closed his eyes, and blue code surrounded him once more. Despite the pressure of the combat, and being forced to de-digivolve to a rookie from the sheer damage, he was going back to a champion again, as if it was nothing. Unexpectedly, blue fire raised and swirled around his feet, but before it could go up to his waist, different bright chains erupted from his horn. The chains surrounded his body as the fires raised up, darkening and dousing the fires. Eventually, the fires overtook him and the chains changed their shape to the metallic mask that was on his head as a Darklizamon, his body once more made of fire. “Shall we, then?”

Once the fight was over, Bero had crash landed after colliding with Boss’s back rather hard. The Tekkenryumon walked over to where the pile of data that was Bero had devolved back into a BlackGabumon, splayed out on the floor. Boss walked on over, one hand trying to re-adjust his nose back into place after a few attempts and a groan of annoyance. Thankfully Digimon didn’t leak data by conventional means, like bodily harm, but it was still annoying to fix the dislodging.
He crouched over near Bero, watching over to see if he was any worse for wear. He was very visibly in pain, but bore through it as he dusted himself off the ground. If anything, the BlackGabumon was right, it was a very good learning experience. He had a lot to chew on for figuring out how Bero ticked. He was angry, incredibly angry at something. Whether it was his own weakness or something else out in the world, Boss was unsure, but that told him that *something* had happened. The fact that Bero didn’t even try to evolve to match him for the sake of it was another detail that didn’t escape him. Could he not, or didn’t want to? Either way, he offered a hand to raise the Gabumon up once he evolved back into Darklizmon.
“That it was. For starters, I learned that you’re incredibly tenacious when you’re backed into a corner, almost unnaturally so. Feels like you have a bone to pick with someone or something with how you acted in those last few seconds there. My eardrums are still ringing from that,” Boss remarked, motioning that Bero follow him back inside for drinks and food.
Once the two of them were inside, they’d be sat back down at their table, Boss pouring wine into two glasses, one for him and one for the Darklizamon. “But I will admit, if you’d gone Perfect, I’d prolly slap a ring on you, never seen anyone be that durable. I was surprised you didn’t rip your arm clean off with that stunt, I dig it.” Boss grinned, attempting to -firmly, but also gently- punch Bero on the shoulder. The comment wasn’t meant to be backhanded, but just to see if he was right about something.

Bero wasn’t sure if he was going to accept the hand, but decided to take it anyway. The gesture couldn’t hurt, and things would just get more problematic if he didn’t accept the gesture. He let the black flames of his body pop and crackle about a bit as he slowly healed himself up. It would seem that some of his traits were obvious to Boss, especially a sense of anger.
Bero couldn’t help but partially blame himself for showing that anger. Not a smart move on his part. He was determined to keep the act of being someone trying to reform up, so he apologized, although with little adjustment to the tone he spoke in. “Sorry about that. Still trying to shake those tendencies.”
The Darklizamon observed the glass of wine, swirling it about idly before drinking from it. He didn’t seem opposed to the flavour at all. Bero lifted his eye to him as he gave the punch, the fire lizard almost unphased by the punch. “Not that I ever would have done it, if it would have ripped my arm clean off. Harder to w-work with only one arm.”
He definitely wanted to say ‘win’, just barely stopping himself. He seemed a little conscious about Boss’ choice of words. He’d have to choose his own words carefully, because he still wanted to keep his cards close to himself, but wanted to communicate clearly all the same. But he just had to ask… “Do you think I should have gone to the next level? Or rather, that i should be going to the next level?”

Once the two of them were inside and acquainted with sitting down after their little spar, Boss finished pouring the drinks to let Bero talk. He was still incredibly curious about the guy, but none of what he had done had shed any vast new light. It was mostly assumptions, but the way he acted and everything he had done were simply little details to keep in mind for later for the Darklizamon to eventually prove him right. He was not expecting some sort of grandiose unraveling of the self. But for the guy to loosen up a bit, have a drink, that sort of thing.
Boss watched him sip down the wine for a few seconds, he did not seem to mind it at all, which was at least a good thing. When he responded to the comment about ripping his arm off, Boss raised a scaled brow. Now, if Boss were a bit younger, he probably wouldn’t have caught that little slip up. But the years of forming his silver tongue having not been born with it, it was clear as a whistle to him. The smugness was incredibly real, and the Tekkenryumon would be lying if he wasn’t sorely tempted to ask the Darklizamon to fight him again.
“Well, if that slip up is what I think it was, then yes, definitely so. Maybe not a good idea for the surrounding area, but in my opinion, I was fully expecting it, “ Boss nodded, taking another sip of his wine and swishing it around between his clawed digits. “You caught me more by surprise thinking you had a shot as you are now. Not a bad thing, I appreciate the guts. But part of me is sorely wondering what part of you thought was gonna win since you treat everything like a fight you can’t lose.” Boss finished, brow raised at Bero, staring directly at him.
