An Uncertain Arrival [KIZNA]

Bezil liked that about Skadi, she was just as energetic and enthusiastic as he was. While three years of training under his father had tamed Bezil somewhat, he liked that he saw something of his younger self in Skadi.
He then watched as Kenny invited Malik out on their expedition. Malik accepted. Bezil smiled with agreement about this. "Excellent, this will be a perfect opportunity for you to prove yourself, Malik." he said.
Bezil was receptive to the fact that when Malik was treated gently and had the pressure off him, his confidence grew. This was another thing he had learned from Owen. While soldiers were expected to have the capability of operating under extreme pressure, those in KIZNA were not meant to be soldiers, especially those in the crafting division. Even though Bezil was something of a soldier himself, being an admin and a member of the Assault and Combat team, he would respect that Malik would not need to be tested by that amount of stress if he wanted to join.
Bezil then raised his tail, then stabbed its pointed end onto the ground below, so that he could sit on the flat edge of it. "However, before we begin, it's proper KIZNA policy to do a full briefing of the objectives and possible challenges we might face on the task ahead. My parents taught me that it's a terrible risk to those involved if they don't know what they're doing, what they're meant to be achieving, or what they might face in the path ahead."
He then turned his amber eyes to Kenny and Skadi. "So then. Now that we've established our expedition party, could you please brief us in full what the objectives will be? I'm happy to assist if you need my help. Don't worry, this isn't a test or anything, just standard KIZNA routine." he winked.

Success! Not only was Malik receptive of the idea of joining them on the exhibition, but Bezil also looked to be on board with the idea as well! Kenny could only smile and lean down, gently patting Malik on the head, "Of course. No need to thank us; after all, we're not just a team, or an organisation, we're friends. Brothers-in-arms, even." He merely gave a wry chuckle as he stood up with a shrug, "Yeah, I know, that sounds cheesy as all get out, but I really can't think of anything else clever enough to describe our dynamic well."
Thank God the entirety of KIZNA wasn't one to jump down their throats over dumb cheesy bullshit.
Before either Kenny or Skadi could continue, however, they would turn to Bezil the moment he slammed his tail into the ground. Thankfully, all they had to do was simply elaborate on what they had to do on their little expedition today. Could he remember everything? Well, for a brief moment, Kenny scratched his head as he tried to remember what they had to do, exactly, tapping his foot all the while, while Skadi looked up in intrigue.
After a few moments, he started to explain, "Well, today we're going to do an expedition in the nearby Shining Sea, to hunt for materials to help craft our personal artifacts further, if I'm remembering this right. It's generally a simpler expedition that we members of KIZNA do from time to time so we'll be able to craft them and build upon them, before we eventually reach our special Ultima artifact. Skadi, care to give a little demonstration?"
"On it, Kenny!" Skadi saluted, before digging through her wool to pull out her necklace from her wool, for all to see. With a simple tap of the gem, she would vanish in the blink of an eye, and only a second or two later, she would reappear once more, but with a wide grin on her face, "That's just my personal artifact, Gesterseele. It allows me to turn invisible for as long as I want, as long as I don't get hit by an attack or use one myself. It's still pretty weak, but I'm hoping we can improve on it soon!"
Kenny just smiled and pat the proud Valaismon on her head for a job well done, before turning back to Malik, "Anyways, there are a few wild Digimon around here. Most prominent seem to be these weird Rookie-level spider Digimon that pop up from time to time, but while they might look freaky, they're actually quite docile unless provoked, so best not to scare them. Some bigger wild Digimon may prowl the area themselves as well, so just in case, it's best we do stick together at all times, for the safety of the team."
"So, as I said, our objective today is to gather some materials so we can build upon our artifacts. Hopefully, someday, you might be able to build an artifact to call your own, and hey, you might be able to learn a thing or two in the process today? How's that sound?" After finishing his quite lengthy explanation, he turned to Bezil.
"So, how was that Bezil? Was it good?"
It was always like him to fish for praise.

There was a moment of relief for Malik as he was accepted onto the mission with little to no hesitation. This was it. His big chance to do something good for his new team already. Bezil was right. Malik tended to put far too much pressure on himself to succeed. Having some of that pressure taken away made him feel far less stressed and a little more confident that he could go through with this. He nodded slowly and awaited the briefing before he would speak again.
Friends...brothers-in-arms. He smiled warmly at the thought and nodded once more as Kenny continued. "N-no it makes sense...that was the best w-way you could have said it. Thank you..." He said softly.
He stared at Bezil for a moment as he used his tail as a convenient chair before listening in on the briefing. The Shining Sea and material gathering seemed to be the location and objective of their first outing together, and it was apparently a rather simple mission too.
Then, Skadi pulled out some strange necklace before she vanished for a couple of seconds. This was deeply fascinating for Malik as he stepped a little closer to observe her reappearing. "I-Invisibility as long as you're passive...that's not weak at all...in fact for surveillance and reconnaissance it's one of the most powerful things you could possibly have with you..." He started to ramble a bit in his curiosity as his mind spun with the different possibilities. "Sorry..." He muttered.
According to Kenny there were some Rookie-level Digimon wandering around. They were said to be rather docile, so doing their best to avoid aggravating them was going to be the best course of action when they were on the field. The group would stick together. Safety in numbers. Malik understood that.
When Kenny was finished with the briefing, Malik looked up at him "I-it sounds straightforward enough. I'm not sure if I'll have any ideas for anything to build, myself. E-even so I'll do my best to help everyone get what they need." He said with a nod.

Bezil listened to the briefing patiently. So they were to go on an expedition to hunt for artifact materials. That seemed fair enough for a mission, there were countless curiosities that lay dormant in the Shining Sea.
Then, when invited, Skadi showed her personal artifact as it was thus far. Apparently Gesterseele gave her the ability to become invisible. She said it was still a little weak, then Malik pointed out it wasn't weak at all. Malik then apologized for interrupting, but Bezil grinned and shook his head.
"No worries, you have a good point there. It's still pretty useful." he said. "The ability to not be seen opens a lot of doors in certain situations. Especially ones in which you don't want to counter others with force."
After that, Bezil was satisfied with Kenny stating the threat level for the mission. Basically don't bother the other digimon in the area and they won't bother them. But it would be best to travel as a group so they don't get picked out as targets by opportunistic digimon.
At the end of the briefing, Bezil gave a thumbs-up. "Excellently put, well done, guys." he said, then stood back up, removing his tail hammer from the ground.
Malik then said that he'll do his best, and Bezil grinned in response. "That's okay, mate. Do your best, that's all we'll ask of you."
By now, Bezil could tell that Malik was a little short of confidence, so he hoped that this expedition would help to build it somewhat. He'd do his best to help by gently building Malik's sense of usefulness. This was something he had learned from his father Owen, who pretty much always took the time to gently build up confidence with the lowest performing digimon of his classes in Rosewood.
"So then, if we're ready, let's start this expedition, guys." Bezil said, eager to begin.

Now, to be honest, Kenny wasn't exactly winning awards and accolades left, right and centre for his speech crafting skills, and for good reason; even after spending a lot of time developing close friendships and relationships with not just his trusted partner, but with a variety of people of all shapes and sizes in the span of a year, he was still relatively fresh compared to his compadres. But so far, his words managed to resonate with Malik well.
And while externally, he could warmly smile back at the Lopmon and give a reassuring nod, internally, he was quick to chalk it up as a win for himself. A small win, nonetheless, but hey, a win was a win. And he wasn't exactly one to complain about it.
As for Skadi, however, as she demonstrated the small artifact in question, she failed to spot that Malik was starting to walk up to her. She didn't budge. Rather, while the two boys were all too happy to insist that an artifact like that was in no way 'weak', considering what she could pull off with it given the right circumstances, she would simply stuff the amulet back into her wool, before twiddling her fingers together, "Actually, it's only considered weak because it's just the first form of my artifact. I don't really get it either, honestly."
They still had a good point, however; that artifact did manage to support her through thick and thin, allowing her to sneak in an essential sucker punch or two to help turn the tide of battles for her and her allies. And that was just at it's weakest form; an ordinary looking amulet to the average onlooker who just happened to spot it.
Imagine what it could pull off with a few extra modifications.
But other than that little snafu? Despite the lingering doubts and his own inner critic lying in wait, a fresh sense of satisfaction would awash over Kenny the mere second Bezil complimented the duo. While Skadi was quick to lap up the praise with a grin, the young man lightly scratched his cheek as he shot an appreciative glance to the hammertail-wielding drake, "Thanks, man. I'm just wondering; is there anything I could improve on?" He simply asked. It was just another habit of his, trying to seek improvement wherever possible, no matter how small, from his superiors.
Still, that was small fry compared to Malik's apparent nervousness bubbling up once more. It was only right that Kenny build off from what Bezil stated, "He's right. You don't need to rush yourself or your artifact. If anything, I say you should give it a bit to think it over, just so you can see what works for you. We're not going to hound you down day and night until you make it on the spot or anything, don't worry." He added, patting the Lopmon on the head once more.
Skadi was quick to agree, "When you get the time, I think you should ask Yuuki or Papa on what could work for your own personal artifact. They could help you out on it." She suggested. Was it too early to tell him about the Aeternia Forge itself, being members only and all. Whatever the case, she opted to err on the side with caution with this one.
Now with everything out of the way, it was time to set off. Skadi was quick to salute the young admin of KIZNA, "Alrighty! Lead the way, Bezil!" She cried, before setting off to follow him. Kenny could only chuckle at his partner's optimism and enthusiasm. There was no stopping her. As he followed suit, he turned back to Malik.
"Don't mind her. She can be pretty excitable at times."

Malik just seemed flustered and embarrassed that everyone was so patient with him and offered to help him be the best that he could be. Though he didn't feel pressured to be better. They just wanted that to come naturally. Something in his mind saw this as a complete deviation from something, but for the life of him he couldn't exactly pinpoint it. Something to do with a past life? He shook his head, trying not to think about it.
Malik looked at Skadi for a moment, pondering something with that blank expression of his "If that's only its first form, then you should be very proud that its future potential is so amazingly high. Maybe some kind of disorienting burst when it's deactivated..." He said. It was a rather blunt way to say it but he hoped she appreciated it nonetheless. "Potential...I-I guess the same can be said for me, huh...?" He said with a nervous laugh.
He smiled at the attention and the head pats, feeling like everyone here appreciated his company. He wasn't just some cog in the machine. "Alright, I'll do my best to take my time with all of this." He said to Kenny with a nod.
Skadi suggested talking to Yuuki or her dad for creating his own personal artifact. He nodded "I-I would appreciate that help, thank you. I keep forgetting I don't have to do everything by myself." Even though he felt others would be better off if he did. He didn't want to be a bother.
Now that everyone was ready to leave, Bezil said that he just wanted Malik to do his best on their upcoming excursion. He nodded "T-thanks Bezil. I'll do my...best. Yeah, I'll do my best." He smiled softly. Skadi was excited to get going, so he started to follow her lead as Kenny told him that Skadi gets excitable "Oh, that's okay. I understand how exciting something like this can be. She doesn't get nervous that easily, huh...? I envy that."
