Consider this like a remake of my old character Maxie, who is now retired
Name:
Cairo Duhanney
Alias:
CJ, RoRo, Kai (most commonly used), Beadz
Age:
21
Gender:
Male
Height:
6'3
Weight:
221 lbs
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Birth Date:
November 26
Western Horoscope: Saggitarius
Birth Place:
Hammond, Lousiana (Born)/ Greenpoint Ave, Brooklyn, New York (Raised)
Skills/Talents:
Rollerbladning, Graffitti, Drums, Jeet Kun Do, traditional art, basic sewing
Backpack Contents:
Digivice:
A Dark purple D-3, with grey accents "cracking" around the edges of the grips, and a dull blue ring around the screen
Personality:
Kai is a hard man to get a bead on, even at the best of times. With a constant frown in place, and eyes always hidden under his trademark "Bead Curtains", his range of expression is sorely limited. This face is not at all helped by Cairo's closed off and quiet nature, the tall, imposing artist appearing as a literal blank slate, who's thought process is near indecipherable. Often answering in short and usually blunt answers, Cairo comes off all around as a guy with zero time for other people's problems. And most would be right in assuming that, to a degree. While he is easily annoyed and more than willing to solve an issue with his fists, Cairo isn't as violent or confrontational as people would initially think. Instead, he's a straight forward guy who sees things as they are and is merely unable to find proper words to get his more complicated feelings across, and his own hangups over his current place in life leave him more socially awkward if anything. Instead, he chooses to answer either through action or his art, the latter of which is such a driving point to his life that he will drop everything at the sight of an unmarked venue just to leave his tag. As a result, he will keep to his own world, until he feels his own input is needed.
When it comes to his art, or any form of art for that matters, his more positive traits shine through, showing someone who just loves art and wants to make some of his own. He attentiveness towards the artistic endeavors of others as well as seeing his own works finished always manages to bring a rarely seen smile to his face.
If you havent found a way to inevitably annoy or flip one of Cairo's switches, his caring side will be all the more apparent as time goes on, and you will find yourself with a loyal friend who's just a little absentminded.
But if you happen to step on the veritable landmine that is Cairo, then chances are you're going to need a doctor.
Appearance:
6'3, broad shouldered, and always slouched, Cairo gives off the very image of a Brooklyn born youth, with dark skin denoting his Saint Lucian background, and a tankish frame. His shoulder length, dark brown hair is braided into a literal curtain of braids tipped off with various colored wooden beads, which acts as the source of one of his more unusual nicknames. His usual attire is his trademark black and yellow Hi-Vis hoodie, underneath which he often wears glaringly bright shirts or sweaters bearing cartoon logos, his favorite being a yellow knockoff Kool-Aid Man. Almost always, his clothing will bear paint splatters from his work. Under his hair he hides a pair of deep amber eyes and various piercings along his ears. He is rarely seen without both the headphones around his neck, and a silver skull charm he wears around his neck protectively.
Personal History:
Born originally in Lousiana, Kai moved to Brooklyn at a very young age, when his younger siblings Mecca and Silas were born. Apart from being "the new kid" who was always buried in his sketchbook, Kai was both blessed and cursed with being taller than most his age, and a wide frame that often left him the target of bullying and teasing. Combined with his . This would continue into his preteen years, during which he would only keep growing, almost breaking 6 foot even before he was 13. By this point, he had gotten into graffitti thanks to the urging of a few teens who lived in the same Apartment building as he did, which in turn has led to some trouble with the authorities on several occasions. His appearance, coupled with an already tarnished reputation and gloomy attitude, resulted in many a rumor about who he is and what he does when not in school.
And it only worsened the day he "snapped".
No one is quite sure what happened that day when a group of long time tormentors cornered him in the school yard but when the principal finally made it to the scene of the fight, two of the boys were out cold with broken noses and swollen eyes, and a third was cradling a broken arm, with a heavily breathing and tear-stained Kai standing in the middle, staring at his own hands, the torn up remains of a sketchbook scattered around them. Afterwards, in the wake of a series of messy discussions with teachers, parents, and police alike, Kai was expelled from school before his eighth grade graduation, and forced to enroll in an anger management program, where he met the trio Amelie St. Claire, Quincy Pryce, and Manny Rizal.
That meeting would change his life for the better.
The quartet became almost inseperable immediately, their differing personalities blending almost immediately, and for a while, Cairo found a group of his own that kept him calm and connected. It would be through the encouragement of his new friends that Kai would open his worldview a bit more and take his art further, before eventually making it through elementary and highschool, and getting a scholarship for an art program at the School of Visual Arts, all through his hard work.
However, despite aiming to make his life something better, Kai was not able to fully escape the obstacles of his childhood. Odd stares, unfortunate confrontations, and the schoolyard incident have followed him every step of the way, even itno his college years, and the stress has only built up. The recent breakup with longtime friend Amelie St. Claire seems to have broken something in the already volatile artist, and at the suggestions of Quincy and Manny, he decided to take a "vacation" by way of an exchange program in Japan, using it as a way to both further his inspiration and try to get away from the walls of New York that ate away at him.
....Let it be known Kai has no understanding of pattern recognition.
Digimon Name:
Cheshirmon
Default Form:
Cheshirmon
Gender:
Female
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Skills/Talents:
Subterfuge, sabotage, stealth, General support, being the most cat cat she can be.
Inventory: a switchblade she may or may not have stolen off of someone. No matter how many times Cairo takes it away, she somehow gets a new different one. Its not used for any attacks...she just has a switchblade. For stabbing.
Personality:
Cheshirmon is the literal match thrown into the oil barrel that is Cairo. Usually when one says to "never judge a book by its cover", it means they never had a run in with the demonic rookie level. Self-serving, self-assured, and smug as all hell, Cheshirmon believes that the only person who should matter in life is herself, and everyone else is just an obstacle to be darted around. Living up to her namesake, she is constantly in a state of sneering and ambiguous fortune telling (read as: lying) towards the unwashed masses, and has next to no care who's life she ruins in the process. However, this attitude belies the true fear she holds: dying. A particularly weak digimon who's only attacks are more for support than any actual combat use, Cheshirmon is constantly aware of her own mortality when surrounded by Digimon and humans alike who could easily snuff her out with anything ranging from a fireball to just outright strangling her, something many wish to do. As a result, she believes that she needs to be 5 steps ahead of everyone else just to stay alive, and has zero trust for anyone, even her own partner, despite all of his actions towards her saying otherwise. A prankster and opportunist to the core, her wits are her strongest asset and one she abuses to the max.
Cheshirmon takes pleasure being the one on top, believing no one is truly innocent and everyone deserves misfortune in some way or another as retribution. And if her being that retribution also happens to ensure another threat to her life is handled, then its a double win for her.
In the end...its all for survival, so its okay for her to do this, right? Right?

Cheshirmon
Species:
Cat
Appearance: Barely taller than a 3 year old. Cheshirmon's namesake comes from her most defining trait: the wide, never flinching cartoonish smile that shines from beneath a black cloak lined with an indecipherable luminescent blue text. Underneath, her true appearance is left unknown, save for large, black paws, ringed in hues of green and blue underneath to resemble spirals, and glowing white slits for eyes line by green. Each ring adorning her paws, eyes, bushy twin tails, and ears seem to move and swirl with every movement she makes. Hidden behind her back are a small pair of bat-like wings near unnoticeable by most. Finally, hanging from her neck and holding the cloak together is a rusted gold coin that glows in tandem with her odd inscriptions when her powers are in use.
Attribute: Virus
Family/ies: Nightmare Soldiers, Nature Spirits
Type: Ghost Cat
Fighting Style: By no means an offensive fighter, Cheshirmon prefers to lean more on the defensive and strategic side. While physically weaker, even by Rookie standards, Cheshirmon makes up for her shortcomings by being extremely fast and agile, her supposed cartoonishly proportioned body allowing her a flexibility that makes for a difficult target. Preferring hit and run tactics to create diversions, she will keep a distance to dodge before darting in suddenly to quite literally slip through her opponent's legs, zipping around and keeping just out of reach, her long cloak easily obscuring her sporadic movements. At the same time, using a mixture of both the hypnotic rings on her body and the vaporous mist she can emit, she can intoxicate and disorient the opponent, making her an even trickier target to land hits on.
When in more direct combat, she relies on the bug-creating abilities of her coin and claws to further debilitate her opponent so a stronger ally can deal the damage needed to take victory home.
Whether she is fighting on her own or has the occasional ally however, Cheshirmon will always attempt to use the battleground itself as her weapon, making up for her lack of true offensive capabilities by misdirecting and leading her opponents into traps of their own making.
Abilities: Misty Blues: Cheshirmon releases a navy mist from under her cloak that begins to wrap around her as she reveals her true body and begins dancing. Any who look into the moving rings of her body begin to find their minds slowly become hazy and unfocused, a sense of vertigo taking hold and leaving their movements uneven. Effect lasts for 1 turn before requiring a 1 turn cooldown
Bad Luck Claw: Cheshirmon flips the coin around her neck before striking at it with her claw. The sparks from contact ignite greenish-blue flames around her claws before she strikes at the opponent, her claws phasing into them instead of actually scratching skin. This causes a small destabilization within the "core" of the area struck, which causes brief loss of control in the offending limb. This often appears to an outside view as the Target suddenly losing their coordination and balance. In particular, when struck at the legs, the target will find themselves tripping and slipping over anything and everything while the effect persists. The extent to which this small error occurs depends on the level of the enemy fought. Effect on Rookies and below lasts for 2 turns, on Champion is 1 turn. Cooldown is 2 turns.
Safe Escape: While not an actual attack, Cheshirmon's cloak can wrap and warp around her body at her control, allowing her to change her size, shape, and visiblity to the point of vanishing into thin air with a twist. This is used soley for escapes. Lasts 1 Turn and Cooldown is 1 turn. Can be disrupted by area wide attacks

Matagomon
Species: Matagot Cat
Appearance: Growing to the size just below a fully grown panther, Matagomon reveals a slender, black furred body ringed in patterns of blues and greens around her paws, eyes, and hind legs. Torn white sleeves wrap around large paws tipped in curved claws and her cloak now becomes a torn up hood and cape, her cat-like face portruding from it with black and green dreadlocks framing her face. Hovering just above her back is a large, golden coin bearing a paw print with a mirror in the center. Her hind legs can switch between a physical form and suddenly turning into green-blue vapor so dense and wild it resembles ghostly flames.
Attribute: Virus
Family/ies: Nightmare Soldiers, Nature Spirits
Type: Ghost Cat
Fighting Style: A more evolved form of her previous fighting style as Cheshirmon, Matagomon takes a slightly more aggressive approach in her hit and run tactics, switching between her vapor-flame form and physical form to dance around her opponents and strike at their weak points repeatedly.
She also improves upon her defensive style by using her Fortune Reflector Coin to absorb enemy attacks and fire them back. However, as the coin has a limit to how much it can take, she only does this as a last resort.
In this form, being a bit stronger than her rookie form, Matagomon is more willing to take hits here and there, only to power up her signature attack.
Abilities: Nine Lives: By turning her whole body into mist, Matagomon catches those who breathe it in an illusion where it appears like multiple copies of her have appeared. This is not the case as there is still only one Matagomon merely casting the illusion. While the opponent is distracted by her doppelgangers, Matagomon either escapes or prepares to attack. Each Doppleganger can be dispelled by one hit, and no clone can deal physical damage. Turn Duration if uninterrupted is 3 turns followed by a cooldown of 3
Fortune Reflector: Matagomon's coin floats in front of her and her allies, the mirror rebounding attacks thrown at it back at the attacker. At the moment of impact, Matagomon can also change the coin's position to angle the reflected attack at another target. Limit is 1 attack reflection at a time. When facing Ultimate or higher, the power of the attack fired at it is reduced by 50% power. Against Megas, the reflector is rendered useless. Cooldown is 4 turns
Payback Claw: Matagomon's only truely offensive attack, as well as the riskiest. By taking direct damage from an enemy's attack, Matagomon can convert some of the pain into raw energy around her claws, covering them in vaporous flames before she finally releases it all in a single strike. The harder she's hit, the stronger the Payback can be, however due to her physical weakness, Matagomon is at risk attempting to store up energy and can be easily defeated before the attack is used. Cooldown is 3 turns.
