Ryuji walked carefully along one of the cliffs of the Valley of Dragons with Yoshihiro on his tamer's shoulder. After hearing rumors of a Digimental in a cave on the right cliff, they made their way. After a long hike there as well as having to scale the cliff itself Ryuji and Yoshihiro had yet to see a hint of the cave they were looking for.
"I'm beginning to think that the Meramon we spoke to might be wrong. What if this rumor is false and we've been out here at risk of being dragon chow for no reason?" Yoshihiro said as they came in sight of a tall rocky pillar not far from them. There seemed to be no sign of a cave even on the pillar itself.
"The rumor may be false, Yoshihiro, but we won't know for sure until we check the whole area out. This could take a while." Ryuji replied.
Unbeknown to the duo a shadowy winged figure was watching their every move with menacing red eyes. The figure grinned menacingly at them as it thought of the trap that was set up for its potential victims. After all, a human and in-training digimon were easy targets and shouldn't take long to finish off but the creature would enjoy the process none the less. The creature then moved into position to have a good view of the duo's potential demise.
Ryuji felt the ground beneath him shift suddenly and grew uneasy. Unfortunately, before he could say anything, the ground began to break apart causing him to fall on his butt. He closed his eyes as the ground shifted and when it stopped, he opened his eyes and realized he had a big problem. He was now sitting on a small patch of ground on an unstably small pillar. The dubious balancing act was unnerving and Yoshihiro, who was now floating a few feet above him, looked down at his tamer and asked "Ryuji, are you alright?"
Looking up at Yoshihiro, Ryuji answered "Yeah. I think so. At least for the moment."
"Don't worry, Ryuji, I'll get you out of that mess." he said as he began glowing. "Calumon digivolve to Calumon(Rookie Form)." Just as he digivolved to his rookie form and was about float down to lift Ryuji out of harms way, an explosion was heard behind him. Spinning around he saw a deadly rockslide heading in their direction. It seemed that the sudden appearance of this new threat made Yoshihiro momentarily forget the predicament his tamer was in when he shouted "Ryuji, run!"
'Seriously?' Ryuji thought as he glanced back and forth as if looking for a solution before he calmly asked "Where to?" In a cartoon this could of been considered funny but Ryuji wasn't laughing at this moment.
Sighing at his own stupidity, Yoshihiro thought 'Duh Yoshihiro, He can't run and I can't get him out of the way before the rocks crush us both. Unless...' Uncurling his three foot long tail, his Crystal Matrix and tail glowed red, he readied himself and said "Whiplash!" His long glowing tail lashed out striking boulder after boulder causing the smaller ones to shatter into particles of dust and the larger ones to break into more manageable pieces until neither he or Ryuji were in danger of being crushed.
"Yoshihiro, look! Up where the rockslide came from!" Ryuji said carefully pointing in that direction worried that too sudden a movement would cause him to fall.
Yoshihiro looked where Ryuji indicated and about ten feet up was a cave. Was it the cave they were looking for? Perhaps, but at the moment getting Ryuji out of danger was more important now. Turning around, he floated over to his tamer and, much to Ryuji's surprise, was able to lift him up carrying him up to the cave to investigate it.
Meanwhile, the dark figure sinisterly said "Well. Well. Looks like the powder puff has managed to digivolve and save his human. Too bad it won't help him with me. He's not the only one who has digivolved. Now time to dispose of him and his equally pathetic tamer." With that, the digimon took flight heading for the cave itself.
Yoshihiro and Ryuji landed at the mouth of the cave unaware of the danger to come and walked in side by side. Looking around the noticed that the cave was quite tall and wide. 'This cave is large enough for not just one Greymon but a small group of them.' Yoshihiro thought taking in the sight of it all. Large stalactites and stalagmites littered the massive cavern.
"Yoshihiro, I wonder if this might be the cave we're looking for."
"I'm not sure, Ryuji."
The two walked until they caught sight of something shiny in the back of the cave and spotted what looked like an elaborate egg of some kind. Ryuji and Yoshihiro walked up close to it and Yoshihiro said "It's a digimental! The rumors were true!"
Ryuji looked at the egg and noticed it was mostly black with what look like purple scale plating on the sides but what caught his attention most was the small patch of white on the top of the egg. "Yoshihiro, the digimental has the image of your Crystal Matrix on it and what looks like your ears."
"Could it of been meant for me or some other Calumon?" he said looking at the digimental in awe before the sound of large footsteps was heard by him. "Ryuji, heads up! We aren't alone!"
Together they turned as they spotted a large black digimon that looked like a demonic dragon with large blood red claws on its hands and four blood red eyes glowing with malice. "It's a Devidramon!"
"Not just any Devidramon, powder puff! We have met before when I was Demidevimon." he said with a cruel grin before he continued "Looks like your digivolution won't stand much of a chance against me."
"Wait. Where's the Pagumon that was with you?" Ryuji asked.
Flexing his claws, the Devidramon snorted before he said "Oh that weakling, I ditched him after we lost to you. He was a waste of my time so I saw no reason to destroy him for his incompetence. He doesn't really matter now. I said when we last met you wouldn't have kendo boy to protect you. Let's see what you can do without him. I hope your pathetic efforts amuse me."
"Ryuji, grab the digimental. If you can lift it I will be able to armor digivolve." Yoshihiro said as he dodge Devidramon claws as the dragon slashed at him. He was barely avoiding the attacks and knew he couldn't keep dodging forever.
"What do you mean 'if I can lift it'. It sure doesn't seem all that heavy."
"So the little human has no idea that only the one chosen to use the power can lift it. How amusing." Devidramon laughed as he turned his claws on Ryuji.
Yoshihiro dove at Devidramon while powering up his long tail. "No you don't Devidramon, Your fight is with me not Ryuji." Whipping his glowing tail at Devidramon he shouted "Whiplash!"
Devidramon laughed and caught Yoshihiro by the tail stopping his attack. Yoshihiro began to struggle as he was lifted off the ground and his tail stopped glowing.
"Yoshihiro, hang on!" Ryuji yelled as he reached toward the digimental and grabbed ahold of it. "I hope I can lift it, or Yoshihiro and I are done for." He then pulled on the digimental and it came up as if it was light as a feather. Turning toward Devidramon and Yoshihiro he held up the digimental and said "Game over, Devidramon. Alright, Yoshihiro digivolve!" When nothing happened Ryuji stared at the digimental in disbelief and said "What happened? It didn't work."
Devidramon slammed Yoshihiro against a stalagmite causing the rookie digimon to cry out and then the cruel digimon said "What's wrong, human? You didn't know that a digimental can only be activated by the correct words. Too bad I'm not a nice guy or I might of told you what they were."
Ryuji looked scared that they got the digimental for nothing but then Yoshihiro groaned "I know the words needed, Ryuji."
"No you don't, powder puff!" Devidramon growled as the claws on his free hand glowed before he slashed at Yoshihiro and yelled "Crimson Claw!"
"Ryuji, quickly! Say Digi Armor Energize!"
Ryuji held up the digimental and said "Digi Armor Energize!"
Yoshihiro and the digimental both glowed brightly causing Devidramon to drop him in surprise and to shield his four eyes from the bright light. The digimental floated out of Ryuji's hands and seemed to merge with Yoshihiro.
"Calumon armor digivolve too..." Yoshihiro began growing a little bigger till he reached five feet tall and the tail seemed to shrink. Gradually the light began to fade and Yoshihiro's new form was revealed "SamuraiCalumon!"
Yoshihiro's new form was sporting black samurai armor with purple scale plating. At his hip he had a katana. Yoshihiro turned green eyes on Devidramon, who had just recovered from the bright light, as the demonic dragon growled "Crimson Claw!"
Yoshihiro's Crystal Matrix glowed as he drew his katana from its black sheath. The blade glowed a bright red seeming alive with his holy power. "Let's see how you handle someone capable of holding his own against you, fiend! Crystal Matrix Blade!" The sword struck Devidramon's claws causing sparks to fly. Back and forth the two parried and slashed at each other neither seemingly gaining ground until DeviDramon took to the air. Yoshihiro floated into the air as well. Devidramon whipped around with his four eyes glowing red.
"Demonic Gaze!" he shouted as lasers came out of all four of his eyes and aimed not at Yoshihiro but Ryuji. Thinking quickly, Yoshihiro flung his katana in the direction of the beams blocking them just in time the blade clattering to the ground next to Ryuji. It seemed Devidramon's attack though strong needed to recharge seeing as the dragon's eyes glowed uselessly as if trying to fire again.
Yoshihiro entered his praying mantis stance and floated toward Devidramon. "Calu Mantis Arts!" After dodging another swipe of Devidramon's claws he struck the dragon in the chest before floating behind his opponent hitting him at the base of his wings. Devidramon tumbled out of the air landing on his back with a groan.
Yoshihiro retrieved his katana from the ground and walked over to Devidramon. "What are you waiting for? If you don't finish me I'll just keep coming back again and again until I get my revenge." he said glaring at Yoshihiro with disgust and rage.
"Keep coming back I don't care. I won't destroy you because I'm not like you." he said as he sheathed his blade and turned to Ryuji before he returned to his in-training stage. The digimental disappeared inside Ryuji's D3 as Yoshihiro landed on his tamer's shoulder. "I suggest we head out before Devidramon is up for another round."
Ryuji nodded in agreement and the two left the cave and headed for the nearest Trailmon home.
