"Sheesh... you really want to spread out your work area that thin, Holly?"
She'd set up a study area here, too? Between what she already had at the winter home as well as at the 'bar' in Luminas, it seemed that every place the MeiCrackmon could even potentially settle down was filled with her books and notes. The BlackGatomon just laughed it off, going along with the tour, answering her questions:
"Yeah, Seraphimon. Good 'mon, but he largely keeps to himself. Only ever talked to the guy once or twice."
"Yeah, it was mom's. Largely Iko's nowadays - though they both hate the paperwork pretty much the same amount."
As they got to the arena, though, Syre's ear gave a flick. "Hm? Mom let you practice up here back then?" Interesting. Syre listened to the rest of Holly's explanation, and gave a half-shrug at the end. "Potentially? Mom did like to go hard on fights - and honestly, between her and Iko going at it, I'm surprised even this level of shield was enough for 'em..."
The cat shook her head, sitting down in the arena next to her sister. "Mm... I think everyone here wants to help out in one way or another. That's just how we are, with or without the Knights - w-wait. Two siblings?"
Syre blinked. And she blinked again... before she gave a laugh, and fell right onto her back, stretching out her arms. "Really... dad and Silence, already? I knew they were dating, but I honestly didn't know if it would pan out... heh..."
Sheesh, that was fast!

”Not spread thin. It’ll have everything that I have in my other locales. Different workstations but I can do my work anywhere.”
Holly leaned back and stared at her sister; giving them an earnest grin. Honestly was she thinking that the different areas would have different projects or something? Though… given her own knack for stuff well… The meicrackmon couldn’t blame him.
”Hmm… maybe I’ll try talking to him then. And oh? Well. Think silence is going to head the paperwork when she gets into the groove of things?”
Holly nodded her head as syre asked about the practice. Their mother didn’t have a problem with holly visiting; maybe it was to make it so she was comfortable or something. She’d laugh a bit at hearing that their mother liked going hard on fights.
”I think maybe it’s because she had a lot of stuff to get out of her system ontop of other things. Maybe. That or she took training as serious as actual fights…”
Holly flicked her ears and looked to her sister again as they sat down. Everyone wanted to help? Yeah that was the case. She knew she shouldn’t [and couldn’t] bring up a particular venue that their da wanted to do. She’d slowly nod her head again at that last question.
”Yeah. Two eggs. One’s black and the other is white. No actual patterns yet so we’re thinking they’re still in early stage.”
Holly grinned as the other laughed; was it a surprise that those two would hit it off?
”Dating yeah. I don’t know how much farther than that they’ve decided to take it but with kids in the loop.. Mm. I think honestly they’ll be good for one another. She’s already trying so hard to do as much as she can and in far less time than you or me. Kinda worried she’ll get burned out though...”
Holly huffed and looked back at the ceiling. Burning out would be bad given the line of work they were in...

"Honestly, I think the wolf and Garlond are going to keep doing the paperwork. Much as he hates it, he is good at the political stuff."
That thought would be paired with a half-shrug. As for the arena? Well, she wasn't sure about K, but she did know that Iko and Silence treated their fighting here seriously - to the point where they had to repair the barrier a few times after their spars. That thought went by the wayside, though, as Holly described the two siblings - well, half-siblings, that these sisters would soon have! Well, there wasn't much to go on so far - they were just eggs - but it was enough to bring a smile to Syre's face.
"I've seen her practice - its only a matter of time before she burns herself out, really. But that's okay: I think Silence is the type to learn by doing, and after she's crashed a few times in training, she might be more willing to pace herself. Though, really, you want to talk about Silence burning herself out?"
Syre sat back up with a grin. "What about you, Ms. Doctor? Between a guild, school, the second guild, the mission, then joining this guild - and trying to balance the Knights with doctor work? Even if one of your clones was another full copy of you, I still don't know how you fit this all in!"
She'd laugh, the BlackGatomon standing up, stretching out her back. "Getting back on topic a bit... Holly, why did you end up joining the Knights? What led you here?"

”Yeah but he’ll definitely get tired of it later. Hope that he can get some weight taken off of his shoulders so to speak.”
Holly knew how boring that sort of work could be, she’d stare up at the ceiling and turn her head as the other started to speak about Silence. Yes she would burn out, yes she would crash and yes they would get better but it didn’t stop her from worrying. Holly sheepishly smiled and flicked her ears forward.
”A guild? Oh. I… fully left kizna I’m just part of the knights here. Uh… Well School and the missions are all handled in a very easy way. Uhm. Well Jade handles a lot of the paperwork stuff and generally when I do group studies I use my clones. It’s just a matter of handling and making sure things are structured.”
Holly sat up with her sister, staring at them and then tilting her head slightly. There was a lot on her plate… and well. If she wasn’t careful she would burn out but the meicrackmon sighed after a little bit.
”I’ve got notes, structured stuff. I’ve got time frames and then I’ve got a lot on my plate now but it’ll ease off once school is all said and done.”
She’d wiggle a bit and slowly stand up, cracking her back and groaning. She didn’t mean to do that. Why did she join the knights? What led her here? The meicrackmon brought a finger to her chin and rubbed at it quietly.
”When I was younger ma always talked about it with me, nothing overbearing mind you but I learned to respect the profession. In that after she died I was kinda unsure what I wanted to do but then… Well. Sovereigns, demonlords and then… well the wisemon pages. It just kept building on itself. Then when our younger siblings were ‘born’ It kinda just clicked. I needed to do something more active than what I was intending- e-eh?”
Holly kicked at the ground and grit her teeth; they were joined not even a minute later by the floating orbs known as jade. The little ball of data humming itself before some paperwork floated out of it. It seemed that it had picked up the memo…
”Just need you to sign this holly. I found that tutor for combat, but he’s an absolute hard ass. Gaius… Gaius van baelsar? That’s strange. Sounds… awfully familiar. Digimon don’t normally have full names either. Oh! Hi there Syre. How are you?”

"Wait, you're using clones for group work?"
Syre tilted her head, confused by that notion. "But... they're all you! Even if they have their own quirks, how is anyone supposed to check your work if you're still the main head about it? Heck, even Jade is only as smart as the programming you put into her."
That bit of sisterly scolding aside, it seemed that Holly was more or less on top of everything... in her own way, at least. And as Holly put it, everything built up to this. To that, Syre's ear actually gave a flick, looking over to her younger sister with a brief, stunned look - before her face stretched out with a grin. "Thought it through, then? Its good, but its... well, its not what I expected from ya! A lot of what you do seems to come from impulse, even taking up those missions in the first place. But, I like it - its going to be good to have ya around, sis." She'd giggle again, ear flicking as that floating orb slipped into the room.
"Wow, that was fast." 'Gaius', huh? She never heard of him. "Was it Iko's idea, or was it something you had planned before all this? Either way, you should probably go for it. Not saying you're 'weak', but Iko's pretty strict with his combat requirements..."

”Well each one of them works with my different groups so. Yes and no?”
Holly blinked a bit; she had multiple group projects and was technically a teacher’s assistant with some of the more annoying things. But other than that well… The meicrackmon rubbed at her neck and sighed.
”Jade isn’t allowed in the school grounds anymore. They uh… were found re-organizing some stuff they weren’t supposed to see. So until the physical year is over they won’t be allowed back.”
Holly let out a small chuckle and shook her head; the AI wanted to help the school with their classes and had been re-organizing the curriculum it had found for the rest of the year. Nothing holly was in save for one class which was the one she was switching to the combat class…
”Thought it through with the help of jade ahah. And a lot of my life is impulse but I can’t be impulsive forever.”
Holly turned her head and flicked her ears to one side; she was going to respond but jade beat her to it. The little AI chuckled a bit and gave a small bow to the BlackGatomon.
”It was something she had to address before; just the knights were a good reason for her to take combat classes. This Gaius is from the old trainer regime. Before ‘old’ luminas and has been abroad for a very long time. He apparently only recently returned and is now teaching there. His student range is amazing. No grades. No nothing. Just practice by the looks of it. The curriculum he posted suggests for long term planning.”
Jade would pass out a small holodisc that the blackgatomon could read over if she really wanted. It’d outline the basics, advanced tactics, general tactics, the whole boat. There was even an entire segment dedicated to learning how to dodge!
”Unlike all the other combat trainers he’s not doing it for money...”

"Wait, really? Jade was hacking the school curriculum?"
Put that way, it was lucky that all she lost was Jade going to class! Well, maybe not - things in the Digital World tended to be far more outlandish, so maybe this sort of thing was normal. So Syre shared in Holly's chuckle. As for the combat class?
Well, yes - if Holly wanted to be part of the Knights, she'd have to get a lot better at fighting. And, it might have been Syre's imagination, but Jade almost seemed excited about the fact. They knew a lot about the teacher, and even the class, even if the details given were rather sparse. The cat took the disc, looking over the front of the case to see the points that it covered.
"Iko's a lot more 'hands-on' with his training. I don't think he'd be able to break it into a book like this. Its more like he prefers to work one-on-one - and even then, only with 'students' that interest him." Their 'leader' aside, Syre turned her attention to Holly.
"I'll say it up front. Unlike me, I don't think you're one to enjoy fighting, Holly. And I know how you get: if you don't like something, you tend to try and avoid it or hand it off to Jade. That's not something you're going to be able to do here... so..."
She'd smile.
"Stick with it, okay?" Heck, it might be good for Holly to be in a class she wasn't the top at!

”Well uhm… only to arrange it in a way that people could easily locate the different portions of the curriculum. Suffice to say they were both mad and impressed.”
Holly sighed and shook her head, they had asked jade a whole bunch of questions and ultimately had come to the decision just to ban the orb for the rest of the year from the grounds so people couldn’t use her to cheat. Holly included. The combat class had been a way of her replacing one of the classes that jade had hacked into too.
Holly wasn't the best at fighting, she used too much energy and quite often more than not was left exhausted at the end of the fights. This would be one of the ways she could get better. She’d rub at her neck noting their siblings reaction to the disc. It had a lot of information on it for their class but… Even with the ‘book’ portion the largest segment was practical applications of everything.
”Which explains why he didn’t seem terribly interested in fighting holly perhaps? Or maybe his interest was there and he was just tired… strange.”
Holly shot a look to the orb adn then chuckled as syre addressed her. They were right and she’d reach out to gently rub at the shoulder of her sister. She was trying to get better at that and well… She’d have to continue getting better at this.
”I never liked fighting and well… I’ve been trying to get better at it. I can’t exactly hand everything off to jade without lacking some form of development on my end. But I’ll try sis!”
She’d smile a bit and if syre was willing she’d get a big hug from the meicrackmon before the champion shifted to stretch. She’d look around the arena and blink slowly.
”So now what? We go on a patrol or something? I'm more surprised that Iko didn't want to fight me or something to see what I had. Sure he knows I'm super mega but I heard he had given silence quite a hard time from the get go.”

It was strange to Holly that Iko didn't want to fight her. Well, it was strange to both Holly and Jade - and honestly, Syre understood that. The BlackGatomon gave a nod, first to the crystal and then to the MeiCrackmon... and then put it out there, rather simply:
"Again, Iko only fights those that 'interest' him. In this case, I don't think that its not that he doesn't want to fight you at all - rather, he doesn't think that you want to fight, in earnest." What did Syre mean by that? "Part of it is probably that he wants to encourage you to make a more supportive role. And really, its hard for me to tell what he's thinking most of the time... hmph."
She shook her head. Maybe it was better not to talk in circles. "For now? You'll be working with Garlond to figure out what you want your patrol route to be. I imagine you'll either tag along with myself or Silence to start off, but there are a few areas we want to keep our eyes on. Azulongmon's hiding place in the desert, and the mountains around Baihumon's statue, for example..."

Well why wouldn’t it be stranger to her? She was joining a group that for the most part was supposed to do fighting. She thought at the very least she’d have to do something combative related and all she was given was a firm pat on the back and… Well. A ‘hey welcome aboard!’ It felt oddly insulting and the meicrackmon couldn’t help but feel like she was just being let in so she could leave as easily as she came if she decided it wasn’t for her.
”He seemed very adamant about having me in a supportive role. So I suppose it makes sense that I’d be… Well. Less of a focus in that. Well maybe if you two interacted more you could figure him out? Or maybe get him to open up a bit. I get the feeling he’s very lonely but that’s just me.”
Holly shrugged as her sister retorted. But yeah they were getting into circles and the meicrackmon couldn’t help but wonder why garlond of all people. Why was the butler such an integral source here? Wouldn’t it make sense for joseph to be the one handling this? Or was it because… Holly perked up a bit and leaned forward when either of the sovereigns she hadn’t interacted with were mentioned.
”I’d like to tag along with you to be honest. Silence probably can handle the desert one while we can go and handle the one in the mountains right? Have you… talked to her at all by the way? I know that me and her talk a lot but…”
Jeez why did she have to bring this up right now? Why did her mouth have to run a mile a minute? She’d hold up her hands and shake her head.
”Actually forget that I said that. Patrols. What areas aren’t covered right now and could use someone in the medical field or at least someone that’s studying the medical field?”

"Mm... don't worry too much about it, Holly." Syre gave a chuckle: "Once he gets a bit more used to you, I'm sure he'll have his go tossing you around in the training room as well... directly pointing out your blind spots... telling you to keep check of your peripheral vision when you're aiming down sights..."
The cat gave an exaggerated cough, clearing her throat as she moved the topic along. "By all means, give it a shot. Iko's not a quick one to open up."
Aside from that? The BlackGatomon would give a small nod as Holly indicated that she wanted to tag along with her. "That sounds good! I mean, I would like to try something other than the woods... and with how much time we spend running out in the mountains anyway, it wouldn't take us a lot to adapt to the weather." Her ear would flick, though, at that comment about Silence.
Did they talk?
"Mm, more than you'd think, actually." Syre actually didn't mind that point! "Even before she jointed the Knights, she's been helping me out with missions - and we cook together and stuff. I mean, she's not 'mom', but Silence is a lot more like me, ya'know? We get along."
Actually, that was true - Syre and Silence got along quite well, and it wasn't often that K even came up between them. She could be honest with the Shutmon, and the Shutmon, hopefully, saw it the same way.
"And as I said, the mountains and the desert are not 'checked off' yet. And honestly, if you're asking about where your medical experience would work... the mountains would be a good fit for you." She'd give a shrug: "Even outside the Knights, there's always a demand for Digimon to lead rescue operations. And between the Tiger and the strange ruins and labs hidden out there, an adaptable doctor would be a decent fit?"
