Return from the Dark Dimension...
NEXUS has been growing in speed and strength as word of them spread throughout the Tamer Net. By then, they had members accessing from all over the globe. Some Digimon enthusiasts who liked them, others actual tamers who would log in and actually reach NEXUS in the Digital World as potential members.
The team had grown and was becoming a respectable group. However, something was amiss that Zachary and Panthermon would soon learn about as an enemy from the past soon would make itself known.
In Rustport Town, Zachary and Panthermon had gone there to explore more of the Digital World. They had not been to that desert-like area of the Digital World. Much of it still had areas for them to explore. Approaching the town, things seemed normal beyond the heat and the biting wind that blew sand everywhere. Panthermon grunted as the cat prowled forward, his paws sinking into the coarse sand.
"Let's explore the desert. It should be fun... that's what you said," Panthermon grumbled, dragging his tail in a small trail behind him.
Despite the heat, Zachary still wore his signature blue coat. It was lightweight enough and didn't make him sweat too much but it kept the sun's rays from beating on him as he also had the hood up and goggles he wore underneath to keep his eyes clear from the sandy winds. "I get it. I get it-- my mistake, but we are almost there. Its better than crossing the desert. Logan's Data Gate really is a lot better than wandering the Digital World Blindly."
"Fair enough... Just this is not ideal for my fur," the cat replied.
Soon enough they entered the Rustport town, finding its buildings looking like a series of ruins and patched together metal plates to make houses, huts, and buildings. It was hard to tell what was a building and what was just -- well junk. The sandy wind died down, allowing Zachary the chance to take off his hood and remove his goggles.
However, what was odd was that no one was around. It was almost like a ghost town. And while hard to tell things looked worse than expected.
"Zachary..." Panthermon growled, giving a glance at the buildings.
Parts were torn up, almost 'clawed' judging by the grooves and scratches did into it. It was as if a great battle or massacre took place in this forsaken town.
"What the heck happened here? Did a sandstorm with bad temper come here and tear everything up?" he asked, unsure how else to describe the destruction to the town. They pressed on into the village but saw nothing around.
Panthermon sniffed the air and his ears twitched, trying to sense things. "There are Digimon here, likely hiding in the buildings around us. They seemed... scared of something."
"Like what?" Zachary asked, but only got a shrug of the cat's shoulders. He looked to the buildings, now a bit annoyed for the separated treatment. They likely knew they were there. With a grunt, Zachary took a breath. "Alright, enough! COME ON OUT! WE KNOW YOU'RE THERE!! It's safe now what's going on here?!"
There was no immediate response, but soon some of the windows began to peek open. Hagurumon and Gatchmon began to emerge from the windows, curious and looking around to see the two visitors. Other machine-like Digimon slowly began to emerge, some from their windows, others finally coming out of hiding from trashcans or makeshift doors with steel plates. Some of the more noticeable Digimon were Sukamon, Guardromon, Datamon other stranger looking Digimon. Mutant types and machines.
"This certainly seen better days since we came here and found Datamon," Panthermon commented. He turned to the other Digimon. "Can someone tell us what happened here?" he asked the other digimon.
