Alternate Title: Flowers That Bloom in Tough Environments Tend to be the Deadliest.
(This is a hunt thread for the H-Spirit of Honoka's Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary evolution lines. Somehow, I think I'm gonna make the 3000-word requirement. And for anyone that's not required to read this due to staff duties, it's a continuation of an MPC from the month of May, located here, if you're interested in a little additional reading.)
As it turns out, getting captured by slavers isn't nearly as thrilling as it seemed. Sure, there's the initial excitement of impending doom, and the uncertainty of your fate, but once they got you in a pair of rusty manacles and chained you to a hook on the ceiling, they really don't give you too much to do but ponder what your future life as a slave was going to be like. But Honoka wasn't ready for such a life. No, there were still things that she needed to accomplish, like an upcoming gymnastics meet. Plus, she needed to help out at the Rainbow tomorrow after school.
With her arms suspended up, Honoka constantly had to find the perfect balance to find a position even remotely comfortable. If she let gravity take its course, then her wrists would hang down on the manacles and would chafe her wrists. And her arms were aching from keeping her arms held up for so long. She had to have been chained to the ceiling like this for at least seven hours now. So in human time, only an hour had passed. Terminus Station would be another seven hour Trailmon ride, or another hour in the human world. If she wanted to be home by nine tonight, then she had to escape within the next fourteen hours.
Honoka gave an empty seat across the car a glance. No one else had noticed it yet, but her Digivice was still under the seat, hidden out of sight. She could only hope the first person to get to it would be herself.
While the slaver's leader wasn't in the same car at the moment, the two "new recruits" were. They were a pair of green-skinned, oni-like Digimon wielding small clubs. They say directly across from the teenage girl, giving her a hard look. Like Honoka herself, they were covered in all kinds of nicks and bruises, received from their encounter with the girl. They seemed like they were taking their injuries fairly personal, but it wasn't like Honoka had wanted to fight against the greenhorn slavers. She just couldn't allow herself to be enslaved.
But something told Honoka that these two wouldn't exactly see reason in that regard. The girl gave out a sigh as the two Digimon tensed up. Apparently they were told to watch her. It had been a while since she put up any resistance, so she gave her restraints a tug for old time's sake. She pulled down with all her might, but as expected, the chains weren't going to be breaking from the arm strength of a girl weighing barely over a hundred pounds. And she didn't have a way to get out of the manacles, either. They were rusty, sure, but they were also far too sturdy. Were they made out of some special metal, or something? She knew admittedly little about precious metals, especially when she was in such a foreign world.
Did the Digital World have its own periodic table, for example? Were there substances that could only be found when they're made entirely out of data? As interesting a conversation topic that it might be, none of it mattered to the captive girl. And she wouldn't be able to do it on her own. And the only help she could find was the two responsible for keeping her here in the first place. Without Fugamon present, she may be able to convince them to free her somehow.
So she figured she should learn their names, first.

"So, my name is Honoka," She finally spoke up with a hint of annoyance. "Do you guys have names, or are you just going to keep staring at me?"
Red Mohawk was the first to speak up. "Goblimon."
Then it was Green Mohawk's turn. "Shamamon. Now stay silent, fish."
"Look, we're on the same Trailmon ride, regardless!" She countered. "And you have got to be at least as bored as I am right now! So how about we just talk a bit? It's not like any of us are going anywhere, right?" She tilted her head towards both ends of the Trailmon cart. Neither one of them replied, but they didn't protest, either. "So... do any of you play any instruments?"
The two Digimon across from her remained silent, yet continued to stare.
"I played piano back when I was younger, but I kind of dropped it to pursue other things, like dance and gymnastics!" Nothing she said seemed to impress the pair before her. She took a nervous gulp of air as she attempted her first hail-mary. "Do you guys dance? If you let me out of these chains for a sec, I'll show you some moves I've been working on! I'm actually really talented!"
Again, nothing but silence from the pair. The red-haired Goblimon seemed like he wanted to speak up about something, but looked like he decided against it.
"It's kind of a blend of modern hip-hop with a bit of jazz thrown in. I've even been trying to throw in some Arabic belly dance, since I've really been digging the emphasis on torso movements lately! It's a little sloppy now, but I think it's gonna turn out great in the future!" Judging by the silence and the anger in Shamamon's eyes, she didn't think it was going to work out. Well, it was a long-shot, regardless. Still, maybe if she kept talking, she could at least influence them somehow.
"...I used to do ballet..." The Goblimon finally spoke up with an embarrassed tone. He looked away shyly as the Shamamon shot his partner an angry glare. Honoka tried her best to ignore it and continue the conversation. Finally! Something to latch onto!
"No way! Me, too!" Honoka said with an excited smile on her face. "Ballet gets a bad rep for looking really prissy, but if those people actually tried it, there's no way they'd say that crap! I know so many people that would give up from the stretches alone!"
"I wasn't really good at it, though, so I gave up kind of early..." Honoka noticed the Digimon's build. Yeah, she could see why a Digimon like that would have a hard time keeping his balance. Even when he was trying to break Honoka's skull open, the Digimon just took large, clumsy swings with his club. Even in her human form, Honoka didn't have any issue avoiding him.
"Well, I think it's wonderful that you even tried it in the first place! And even if it was only for a little while, that kind of training never really leaves you. You should feel proud!" She kept giving off that warm smile, and she thought that for a second the Goblimon actually blushed before looking away. Well, she didn't intend to charm him that much. Well, one down. She turned to Goblimon's partner. "What about you, Shamamon? Have you ever tried anything li-"
"I have not," He replied curtly. "And even if I had, we wouldn't be discussing it, fish."
"I gave you my name, remember? It's Honoka!" Honoka tried to keep the frustration out of her voice. She had to be patient, after all. These two have had a bad day thanks to her, even though her own day had been infinitely worse.
"I don't care what your name is, fish! Now that you're here, you're just another fish that we caught!" Honoka couldn't quite place the anger in Shamamon's eyes. She was just a fish? It sounded like some propaganda that the Shamamon had digested. Then again, their group of slavers was called the Anglers. She wondered if he could even be persuaded.
But Honoka wasn't going to quit just yet. After all, it wasn't like she was going anywhere else. Word Count: 707 + 589 = 1296

"Sure, you can call me a fish or whatever, but I could just as easily call you a slaver who beats up on defenseless girls!" Honoka countered. She couldn't keep the anger out of her voice, but she needed to get her point across if her plan was going to continue. "I think if there's anyone with grievances here, it's me! But I'm still trying to be decent and kind and call you by your name!"
"What are you even going on about, fish?" Shamamon replied, lifting his club. It looked like he was ready to jump out of his seat at her outburst.
"I know I'm probably not your biggest fan right now, seeing as I'm the reason you two are as beaten up as you are right now! But I'm the one that's been chained up! Have you stopped and considered how I feel about all this?" She didn't like her chances of appealing to a slaver's empathy, but she didn't have much of a choice in her position.
Shamamon didn't respond immediately, but Goblimon looked between the two with a concerned expression. Still, neither one of them spoke a word.
"Do you even know what it's like to be in my position right now? I'm scared and confused right now!" She didn't intend it, but her voice grew more and more desperate as she continued. She felt her eyes watering up, even though she told herself that she had to be brave. Stupid emotions.
"Then do what we did when Fugamon captured us," Shamamon finally answered.
"Fugamon... Captured you two as well? And now you're working for him!?" The pair nodded.
"We had recently evolved to our Rookie forms and had departed the Village of Beginnings," Shamamon explained. "But then we got sidetracked by something in the woods. Fugamon took advantage of that and captured us. He tried to sell us off, but the buyer only wanted one of us. So... we begged Fugamon not to split us apart. And he agreed, because we obeyed his orders. All we have to do is help him."
"If you don't make him mad, then he can be incredibly nice!" Goblimon added. "He even treated our injuries we got when we fought you!"
"So I want to make things clear, fish!" Shamamon ignored Goblimon's statement, giving Honoka a cold glare. "When we tell you to do something; you do it. If you don't, and Fugamon finds out, he won't take it well. But if you do obey, then he won't let anyone hurt you."
"...And if maybe if you beg Fugamon like we did, then he'll let you work for him like he did with us!" Goblimon suggested with an oddly hopeful expression. "That way you won't have to worry about being someone's slave, Honoka!"
"Goblimon!" The Shamamon chastised his partner.
"I'm sorry... fish!" Goblimon corrected himself.
Honoka couldn't believe what she just heard. Beg Fugamon to help him enslave other innocent humans and Digimon? She felt sick to her stomach just thinking about it. The aching in her wrists and arms, the pains all over her body, and the constant uncertainty was bad enough. She didn't even think she could put someone through that - never mind actually selling a slave to whatever cruel fate that was held in store for their victims. "There's no way I could do that," She answered coldly. "If you've already been what I'm going through, I'm surprised that you two can do this as well..."
"Don't presume to know what we've been through, fish!" Shamamon shot back, vitriol seeping into his words. "There isn't anything else the Digital World has to offer us other than the life we have right now. This is the only way we can have our freedom!"
Honoka could only give the Shamamon a cold stare back. What she was going to say next was either going to help, or hurt her very badly. "Can you really call a life like that 'freedom'?" She said. Shamamon tensed up while Goblimon visibly flinched from her words, then looked off to the side with a guilty expression.
"What did you just say!?"
"I'm starting to think that the reason Fugamon put you in this cart wasn't because of me," She replied. "But because you're just as much of a slave as I am."
"That's... How dare you-" Shamamon's protest was cut off by his partner.
"Even when we're not guarding a fish he still makes us ride in this cart in particular..." Goblimon pointed out. Shamamon looked at his surroundings, to the hooks on the ceiling and to the chains keeping Honoka's hands bound and suspended.
"That can't be... But..." The green-haired Digimon couldn't seem to get a full sentence in, so Honoka decided to plant a thought before the Digimon could grow one for himself.
"But it doesn't have to stay that way forever!" She insisted. "Help me out of these chains, and we can run away! We may not be able to beat Fugamon in a fight, but if we put our heads together I know we can outrun him!"
"There isn't a place in the Digital World that Fugamon won't find us..." Shamamon insisted with a terrified expression. He was scared, to be sure, but Honoka knew that he was considering her suggestion of running away. She just had to find a way to give him hope.
"You might be right, but you're not exactly talking to someone from the Digital World, are you?" She replied, putting on her best brave smile she could at the moment. "Come back with me to the human world! We can get you two holo-suits, and you can hide out in the human world for a while!"
"The human world...?" Goblimon seemed fascinated by the thought.
"Yeah! Things are a little different, but even if Fugamon did make his way into the human world, there's no way we wouldn't see him coming! Plus, if he did show up, I know a couple humans with Digimon much stronger than the one I transformed into! There's no way even a Digimon like Fugamon would stand a chance!"
"We couldn't stay in the human world forever..." Shamamon countered. Still, Honoka could see him trying to push through the doubt. Just a little more!
"But time works differently in the human world!" Honoka explained. "One day in the human world equals one week in this one! Even if we hide out for a couple of months in my world, an entire year would pass here! There's no way Fugamon could afford to hunt us down for that long! Especially if he has a slave business to..." That sickness in her stomach crept up once more. She could hide out in the human world while Fugamon captures even more slaves. Maybe even gets more Digimon like Goblimon and Shamamon. She couldn't let that happen... but she wasn't strong enough to do anything about it!
Then again, she wasn't lying about knowing other Digivice-wielders in the human world. Maybe if she got Hachi, or Desmond, or Kan to come with her next time, she could take Fugamon down and end his operation for good. She nodded to herself. When she got away from here, that's exactly what she was going to do. She couldn't just let someone do such horrible things!
But neither one of the Digimon seemed to notice Honoka's reservations. Instead, Goblimon looked back at the girl with light in his eyes. "I've never been to the human world before! Do you think... I'll like the food there?"
"You're right!" Shamamon stood up in his seat, grasping his club. "When we come to our next stop, we'll set you free! Then, we'll make a run for it to the human world! We won't let Fugamon control us anymo-"
The doors suddenly swung open, and with a single glance, Shamamon and Goblimon's hopeful expressions turned to utter terror.
"It's rude to talk about me when I'm not in the room, you know!" His voice was pleasant and cheerful, yet everyone present could feel the chilling undertones. He casually sat next to Honoka, reaching behind the girl and placing his hand on her waist while giving the two Digimon across from them a steely glare. "But by all means; keep going with this conversation. I bet you're all dying to see how it all ends!" Word Count 1396 + 1296 = 2692

Shamamon and Goblimon were too stunned to speak, while Honoka just tried to squirm out of the Fugamon's grasp to no avail. "No one wants to keep going? I couldn't help but overhear everyone talking about a vacation to the human world. So... when are we planning the big trip?" Goblimon and Shamamon were still quiet, and Honoka realized she needed to defuse the situation before one of them said something to make things worse.
"I was just telling them about the human world," Honoka lied, not even bothering to hide the annoyance in her tone. Something she said made the Fugamon chuckle as he put his hand out towards the two Digimon across from them. Suddenly, Honoka heard the sound of squealing metal as the Trailmon came to a stop. Goblimon and Shamamon looked confused for a second, and Fugamon pointed towards the door.
"You two, how about you take a step outside for a minute," Fugamon suggested with a tone that indicated no suggestion. "This seems like a good spot to fishing! I'll meet up with you later, but I gotta inform our little fish here the little etiquette of being a good girl when she's all by herself!" He slid his hand up from her waist to place his hand on her shoulder. Honoka felt her skin crawl along the path Fugamon's hand traveled, but tried not to let her discomfort show. The two Digimon across from them were hesitant at first, but quickly took their leave. Honoka was left alone with the Champion-level Digimon, who looked at her with an amused expression. His large mouth crept upwards into a slight smile.
"I have got to hand it you; you sure are a fighter!" He gave a chuckle as he tightened his grip around her shoulder. Honoka tried not to let the pain show on her face, but wasn't able to subdue a growl of pain. "I send some goons after you, and you smack them around! I chain you up so you can't put up a fight, and you start convincing my crew that it might be a good idea to betray me!" Honoka felt a pit in her stomach drop. So Fugamon was able to hear their entire conversation... "A word to the wise; don't try to conspire inside of a Trailmon that on your enemy's side!" Honoka could only sit in silence and defeat for a moment.
"It was surprisingly easy..." Honoka admitted with a glare. "Those two must have a really lousy boss."
Fugamon burst out laughing as he removed his hand from her shoulder and slapped his knee. "Well I'll be damned! You're gonna be a major pain my ass every step of the way, aren't you?"
Despite her binds, Honoka did her best to give a casual shrug. "Let me go and you won't have to put up with me," She tried to keep the fear and desperation out of her voice. Something told her that the Fugamon would only enjoy it, and she didn't want to give the slaver the pleasure. Instead of answering, the Fugamon let out another chuckle as he stood up and moved in front of her. He grabbed her chains and lifted the girl to her feet.
"You know, I've never really dealt with humans before..." He admitted, leaning over and examining the girl. Even the Digimon's gaze felt violating. "I just don't get you at all..." He reached out and grabbed the side of her face, moving up to run his rough fingers through her hair. "There are a bunch of humanoid-looking Digimon to be sure, but the real deal is... underwhelming..." He reached up further and wrapped his hand around her wrist. "You look so small and light..." He loosened his grip and placed his hand on top of her head. He then pushed his hand down on her head in attempt to slam her to the floor. Honoka bent her knees to brace herself from the violent shove, but the Champion-level Digimon was too strong, She fell down only to be caught by her bindings. Fugamon shoved the girl back in her seat. Even defeated, Honoka looked up to glare back at the Fugamon. "And you're so damn weak... Where the hell do you get all that bluster from?"
"Let me out of these chains and I'll show you!" She replied, not actually sure what she could even do to Fugamon if he complied. But instead the Fugamon gave another laugh as turned away for a second. Then his laughter abruptly ended and he whorled back with an outstretched hand.
In instant, Honoka's view changed entirely as she suddenly found herself staring to the right of her. The left side of her face suddenly ached with pain as she felt tears welling up in her eyes. She looked back to see Fugamon looking back at her with a stone-faced expression. "I found your backtalk kind of cute at first, but now you're starting to push your luck," His voice was completely cold. "So from now on, every time you talk I'm going to hit you. It takes a great deal of restraint to hit someone so weak without breaking your neck. And the angrier you make me, the harder it's gonna be to hold back." He lowered his face towards Honoka, but she refused to meet his gaze. Fugamon responded by grabbing a handful of hair and forcing the human to look at him. "Do I make myself clear?"
Honoka remained silent for a long minute while Fugamon nodded in approval. "See? That wasn't so hard, was it?" He let out another gleeful chuckle as he made his way out of the cart. "You be a good girl now,, okay? Oh, and don't bother trying to get the Trailmon on your side. Laber's more of a cold-hearted bastard that I am!" He twirled his large club around gleefully while whistling, leaving the girl all alone, save for the omnipresent train Digimon. There wasn't anything she could do about that, however. Once a few minutes passed, Honoka decided to get to work.. Word Count: 1018 + 2692 = 3710

Honoka's face still stung from Fugamon's "gentle" slap, and her arms still ached. Honoka thought she could hold on a little bit longer, but she was beginning to realize that the longer she remained here the more dangerous things would become. Even though she had almost gotten Shamamon and Goblimon's support, it all melted away in an instant once Fugamon stepped into their view. So long as that Digimon was in charge, Honoka was on her own. She pulled on her chains for a few minutes, but to no avail. The manacles were as sturdy as ever, and the chains didn't look strained in the slightest. But upon closer examination, she noticed something not nearly as sturdy; the hook on the ceiling. It was just a bit loose. She tried pulling it from side to side, but after a good ten minutes she realized that whatever force she was exerting wasn't enough. So then... she would have to try from a different angle.
She wasn't sure if she would be able to do it, seeing as her arms were already so tired, but Honoka didn't see any other voice. She stood up on top of her seat and reach up as high as she could. She still wasn't tall enough to reach, but the chains had some slack to them. She took a deep breath as she prepared herself. She gripped the chains as hard as she could and lifted her body up with a grunt of effort.
Truth be told, one of Honoka's biggest weaknesses as a gymnast was her lack of arm strength. A weakness she had certainly been trying to cover, yet everything she did yielded little result. Still, she wasn't a stranger to climbing robes, yet she had admittedly never done so with her hands bound. Still, she didn't have to lift herself all the way up. Groaning with pain, she lifted her legs in the air, twisting her body to raise her legs above the rest of her body. Both Honoka and her arms screamed out in pain as she did so, and for a moment she thought that they were going to rip right off. Still, her acrobatic stunt let her plant both her feet onto the Trailmon's ceiling. Her face was shaded with the crimson of agony and effort as she pushed downwards with her knees with all her might, trying to push the hook loose on top of pulling it.
She wasn't even able to keep track of time as all her focus and energy went into her athletic stunt. But eventually, she heard the sound of groaning metal as the hook popped loose, and all at once Honoka tumbled to the ground, rolling to avoid landing on her head. The impact still hurt, however, as she must have just rested on the floor for at least five minutes. She wanted to rest longer, but she wasn't sure how much longer Fugamon, Shamamon, and Goblimon were going to take. So she crawled along the floor while she heard the voice of the Trailmon finally speak up.
"Your actions are unacceptable. Restrain yourself at once, or I will inform Fugamon of your misdeeds."
The Trailmon sounded entirely dispassionate, but she wondered how mad it must be right now if it finally spoke to her after all this time. "Fugamon's planning to sell me off as some kind of slave, and he's already proven he's more than willing to hit me!" Honoka explained, continuing to crawl until she got under the seat on the opposite side of the room. She felt around for a bit as she continued. "So sticking around and just obeying him isn't going to do me any good, either! And I don't think I want to take orders from a Trailmon that keeps slaves, regardless! What kind of monster do you have to be to do such a horrible thing?"
"All cargo requires transport. And I am compensated for more than any other type of cargo that I had transported previously. This was the logical decision."
"Logic doesn't have anything to do with it!" She insisted. "If you're not doing the right thing, then any payment you get is completely worthless!"
"Incorrect. A payment obtained under the guideline of a societal definition of morality is no more effective than payment received by so called 'immoral means'. I fail to see your argument."
"And I don't know why I tried to bother..." Honoka muttered, still pilfering through underneath the seat. She finally found what she had been searching for as she held her Digivice close to her chest. She let out a sigh of relief as she faced one of the windows shattered from when she first fought against Fugamon. It was small, but Honoka thought she was just thin enough to slip through it. She went through feet-first managing to squirm her way out with little difficulty. Right before her head exited she looked up at the ceiling of the Trailmon cart. "Seeya around, Trailmon Laber. Try not to bring too many people with you when you take the tracks to hell!" She slipped through the window and made her escape. Word Count: 861 + 3710 = 4571

Even though she had made it out of the Trailmon and made a mad dash away from the nearest tracks, the girl was still weighted down. The manacles were still tightly wrapped around her wrists as she ran, and thanks her earlier antics getting out of the Trailmon made her arms tire out even more than before. She was definitely going to feel it when she woke up in the morning, for sure.
Despite her escape, Honoka knew that she wasn't out of the woods just yet. For starters, she had never been to the Southern Tropics before. She had no idea where she even was at the moment. She wasn't in the jungle she saw earlier, but there were trees all around. Looking off in the distance, she saw clear blue seas and a series of small islands. If she was on an island, she had no idea how to get off of it. Which made things significantly worse for her when Fugamon returned to Trailmon Laber and was informed of her daring escapade.
As Honoka ran through the woods, the doubt had begun to sink in. Sure, it was a lot of effort for the human girl, but wouldn't a Digimon have had a much easier time getting free? And the fact that the Trailmon didn't do anything other than strongly advise against it... It seemed a little too easy now. Was it all just a ruse for Fugamon to test her? Was he actually watching her this entire time just to see if she did something? What if Fugamon was hiding behind this large tree that she was about to run past? She skidded to a stop as she looked around the tree. No one was there. She gave a sigh of relief, but thought she heard a noise in the distance. She turned to face... nobody.
Honoka's heart was racing, and she was seeing enemies in every shadow. She needed to calm down for a moment... take a breather and focus on what she actually could affect. Perhaps sort out her thoughts and put things in a more rational light. It may have been surprisingly easy, but it's also possible that Fugamon just wasn't used to being challenged. After all, he had left her behind after his display of dominance. And what was the Trailmon supposed to do? Scream for help? It seemed too cold and emotionless to think of something like that. Depending on how long it took for Fugamon and his two Rookie-level minions to go "fishing", it may even be possible that no one but Trailmon had found out she was missing yet. She had no idea where they were just yet, and she could only hope that she was able to avoid them as she traveled.
Honoka had to figure out where she was, then establish how to leave, then she needed to plan for what her next plan was. It seemed like she was on an island, so she couldn't just run away. Which meant that the longer she hid, the more likely it would be for Fugamon to find her. Something told her the Champion-level Digimon wasn't going to ride off if one of his "fishes" slipped away. But if Trailmon was able to get onto the island, that meant that other Trailmon could come here as well. How train tracks worked out over the sea baffled the girl, but she long since gave up on trying to figure out the Digital World's rather bizarre logic.
So the question was; would she be able to avoid Fugamon and his gang in time enough to somehow hop on board another passing Trailmon in time to escape? And could she somehow prevent them from simply following her? She had no idea whether Fugamon would be willing to board another Trailmon or not. A Champion-stage Digimon was tough, but it wasn't like they were rare commodity. If he caused a ruckus in another Trailmon then he had no idea what kind of Digimon would be able to resist him. So... that meant she was most likely safe if she could to that.
But for all of this brutish looks, Fugamon wasn't stupid. If Honoka decided to stow away on a passing Trailmon, then all he had to do was wait near wherever tracks were and find her... Her options were limited, and almost everything she could possibly do was too risky. And playing these kind of cat-and-mouse games was especially difficult for her, especially considering she was the mouse.
She grasped her D-Tector and stared at the blank screen. Floramon was absolutely lovely, yet at the same time, she would give up every single good grade she had in order to have a Spirit that could swim or fly away from this island right now. And almost as if reacting to her thoughts, the screen lit up and Floramon's spectral form appeared in front of her. The Digimon Spirit's visage was torn and ragged-looking, however. It seemed that it still hadn't recovered from their fight on board Trailmon Laber. The fight that she had been so utterly helpless in once Fugamon arrived.
But despite its damage, the ghostly flower Digimon had a smile on its lips as it wordlessly gestured Honoka to follow it as it began flying off, guiding Honoka towards something. Word Count: 890 + 4571 = 5461

Floramon rarely appeared in front of Honoka like this. In fact, the last time Floramon had every been outside of her Digivice, it had led a then-Digimon unaware Honoka towards the Digital World. Whether it was for the first or second time was up for debate, but all she knew was from past experiences, following Floramon hadn't led her astray just yet.
And seeing as the only other people she knew on this island wanted to capture her, she was going to take any help she could get at the moment. She knew that the Floramon was a spirit, but as she ran after the spectral flower, she wasn't exactly sure what that meant. The Floramon spirit never spoke to her; only appeared in her Digivice and gave a smile whenever she looked at it. It was oddly comforting to her, like an online pen-pal that only ever messaged you using emoticons.
But her thoughts came to a stop once Floramon did. She stood in front of a clearing with a large, but shallow pool of water. At the center something was propelling a stream of water upwards, creating a fountain-like effect. The trickling water seemed to have some sort of trick to it, as droplets met back with the pond, a pitched sound rang in Honoka's ears, like each droplet was a musical note that created an indistinguishable, but undeniably beautiful symphony.
The fountain created a fine mist that spread out to the air above. The vapors converged with the light of the sun to create a perpetual rainbow hovering over the small pond, like a kaleidoscopic veil. The light reflected off the crystal clear water to send out ripples of color throughout the water, only to be projected back upwards into the sky above.
And perhaps due to the natural irrigation, a vast field of flowers of all assortments grew around it, creating a colorful landscape on the ground that looked like the prismatic iris to the lake's glimmering pupil. Between the sights of the colorful rainbows, the sound of the
She had heard of geysers, but never some sort of natural-occurring fountain. Was this one of the things that only existed in the Digital World? Even so, despite her fleeing struggle the girl couldn't help but marvel at this gorgeous scene of nature. Floramon spread her flowery arms out with a smile as she turned back towards the human girl. This was what she wanted to show Honoka, but she wasn't sure how to respond. The reality of her situation was beginning to sink in once more.
"Th-thank you for showing me this, Floramon, but I don't think that this is the best time to..."
Oh. My. Gaaaaaaaawsh!
A voice, cutesy and feminine, suddenly echoed out from beneath Honoka. The flowers suddenly rustled despite the lack of wind. Little sparkles of light trickled from every single flower, gathering into the air above and coalescing into a vaguely humanoid shape.
Well... as humanoid as you can get in the Digital World. She wore some semblance of clothing; a long, pink lily flower that wrapped around her torso then flared out around her thighs like a dress. A bud of the same flower with a yellow stamen formed around her head, and she had long, green hair that upon a second look Honoka realized were vines..She wore green boots with a with a sunflower design on the toes and heels, and detached green sleeves that ended in yellow flowers at the wrists. Her fingertips were covered in sharp-looking crimson nails. Finally, on her back were four leaf-like wings. She opened her eyes to reveal pure jet-black orbs that reflected the light around her to make them constantly glitter. She turned her head towards Floramon and then embraced the smaller spirit.
You are just the cutest! Omigosh, I could totally snuggle with you all day <3
Despite that it had no "voice", Honoka could still somehow hear the voice in her head. It was... an unsettling sensation, to say the least. And despite the new spirit's praise, Honoka's Floramon spirit was flailing her arms about wildly as if to break free. She had a look of panic from her face, but was unable to say anything in protest.
"Hey! You shouldn't grab my friend without permission! Look! She's clearly uncomfortable!" Honoka called out to the flower fairy spirit, pointing towards the Floramon spirit with a panicked expression. The pink flower fairy seemed to notice Honoka for the first time, tilting her head curiously.
A human!? It's curious expression changed to one of pure surprise. Wait, you're able to see me!?
"Of course I can! And you're crushing my spirit right now!" Honoka would have placed her hands on her hips if it weren't for her bindings.
So sorry! Huh...? She let go of Floramon as it hovered back towards Honoka and flew behind Honoka in a panic. She then seemed to notice the damage all over Floramon's spectral form. You poor thing... What happened to you two? She suddenly flipped forward, placing her hands on her face. She lifted her legs up like she was lying on a couch. Still, her face seemed to be entirely disinterested, as if she was just waiting to hear some gossip.
"That's... kind of a long story... And I don't think I have the time to explain it..." Honoka admitted. "Basically, we were attacked by a group of slavers..."
Slavers!? Wow... I didn't expect to hear that! But I guess that explains your rusty bracelets! She let out a giggle, but let Honoka continue on.
"Well... I'm a spirit user, so I was able to transform into Floramon, but this scary Digimon showed up and..." Honoka's throat started to close up, almost like her body was preventing her from verbally admitting her own weakness. And attempting to overcome it proved to be a difficult task, as all the emotions from her day in captivity came rushing forward all at once. Her knees suddenly felt weak as dropped onto the ground, though she unconsciously shifted her fall to prevent her knees from crushing a daisy. Tears began to streak down her face. "And there wasn't anything I could do!" She suddenly screamed out in between sobs. "They were too strong, and I... I couldn't do anything... They beat me down, then chained me up..." She completely broke down into tears then, unable to get another word out.
Floramon attempted to console the girl by rubbing her back, but she couldn't feel the spectral Digimon's presence. Meanwhile, the flower fairy simply stared back at the human girl with a blank expression.
You were captured by slavers... But you're running away from them right now. She stated. Strength comes in different forms! So just because you're not strong in battle, doesn't mean you're not strong another way! You seem to be really good at running away, so maybe you should keep that up!
Honoka looked up to give the flower fairy an incredulous look.
Oh... was that supposed to be wrong? Sorry, I don't really get humans that much... So... The flower fairy then looked down towards Honoka's knees, where she had avoided smashing any of the flowers when she fell. The spirit gave off a smile as she raised up a finger. I have an idea! You want more strength, right? I may be a spirit right now, but I used to be really strong back when I was a fully-alive Digimon! You can use Spirits and see me, so maybe we can make some kind of a deal! What do you say?

"A... deal?" Honoka had to repeat the spirit's offer.
Yeah! I'm a spirit, you're a spirit user, and I'm just dying to go out and see the world! Just because I'm dead doesn't mean that there isn't stuff I want to do, you know? Plus, you could use some help, right?
"You'd be willing to help me defeat Fugamon...?" Honoka couldn't believe how... convenient this situation had become. She had just happened to meet a spirit that was willing to help her when she was desperate? There had to be some kind of catch!
Fugamon!? That's the scary Digimon chasing you!? Puh-lease! I may look like a super cute and delicate flower, but I happened to be an Ultimate-level Digimon back in my prime! I can trounce a small-fry like Fugamon without even breaking a sweat! Which is good, because sweating is totally a no-no!
Now she was so powerful that the absolutely terrifying Fugamon was going to be trivial? Something still didn't sit right with the girl.
Oh, but there's one itty-bitty little catch if I do help you!
And there it was. Honoka wondered what kind of unreasonable request the flower fairy spirit was going to ask of her.
If you make a deal with me, you have to take along my sisters, too! They're still sleeping here, but I'm sure you can bring them into your Digivice somehow! I'm sure they'll wake up eventually, but if it's just a single Fugamon, I'm wa~y more than enough!
"So you want me to... take in two additional spirits other than yourself?" Honoka asked. Not only was she willing to help, but her condition for helping was to give her more spirits? Honoka had never taken in a spirit before, but she didn't quite see a downside to this. And it wasn't like she was spoiled for choice, either. Sooner or later Fugamon was going to likely track her down. "I'll do it! I'll let you help... no, please help me!" Honoka stood up, bowing to the spectral figure.
You got it! The spirit let out an overjoyed giggle as she twirled around. She then abruptly stopped, and flew right towards Honoka, her phantasmal form suddenly blending with the human girl's. The girl's Digivice suddenly shone with a brilliant radiance. By the way, my name is Lili!
"Hey... wait... what is..." Honoka suddenly found herself unable to properly control her body. Or rather, every move she made had some sort of extra resistance to it.
Excuse me, but I'm trying to get comfy over here! The fairy's voice echoed in her head.
"Comfy? What's that supposed to mean?"
It means stop struggling so much and let me move around in your body! Lili's tone was growing increasingly impatient.
She was trying to possess her body? Floramon had never done that, so she hadn't even considered the possibility before. Was it even possible for the spirit to control her body? She supposed that she could move around in a Digimon's body, but was that really the same thing? "Right... but how am I supposed to do that?"
I dunno. Lili admitted. Her annoyed tone hadn't lessened, and it seemed she was growing even more impatient. Just try and relax... or something!
"That's easier said than done!" Honoka protested. "How am I supposed to relax in a situation like this!?"
How am I supposed to know? You're the Spirit User! I'm just some poor, dead Digimon!
"And I don't think it's typical for the Spirit Users to be the one that's used!" She muttered, but tried to relax anyway. Relaxing wasn't exactly the girl's strong suit, but trying her best was. Honoka took a deep breath, relaxing her muscles as she closed her eyes. Suddenly her eyes opened as she looked at her hands, though Honoka had made no conscious effort to do so. She then felt herself patting down her entire body. "Hey, what are you trying to do!?"
Oh-ho... so this is what a human body is like... Lili commented, albeit with a slightly smug tone. It's not that bad! I mean, my body is much more... how do I put this... dainty... but I think I can get used to living in this!
"Well excuse me for being fit!" Honoka replied rather sharply, trying not to get annoyed by what she assumed to be Lili's version of praise. "And how does you controlling my body even help out in beating Fugamon?"
Fugamon? Oh, that's right! I totally forgot all about him!
"How!? You were literally just talking about helping me defeat him!"
Well I can't be expected to remember all the small stuff like that! But it's okay, just let me... Suddenly Honoka felt herself take a deep breath, and before she could say something, she heard her own voice shout out as loud as she could up into the air. "Yoo~hoo! Fuga-chan! I'm far too weak to keep running any longer! I've no choice but to submit to your every whim as you bind and capture me again, doing whatever you please to my frail, human body!"
The voice was Honoka's, but she spoke in an overly cutesy and high-pitched tone that the girl found grating. Not to mention the word choice turned the girl's face crimson with a mix of humiliation and seething rage. It didn't help that the voice carried out much further than she would have preferred.
Wow, I'm impressed! You've got a good set of lungs on you! Are you much of a singer? Because my sis is-
"Okay, if we're going to be sharing bodies, I'm setting up some ground rules!" Honoka was practically screaming as she interrupted Lili's banter. "You are never going to talk like that using my voice ever again, got it?" Word Count: 964 + 6729 = 7693

Honoka and Lili had a back and forth conversation for a while. Honoka attempted to teach the flower fairy a sense of boundaries, but the spirit didn't seem to understand the basics. Honoka was beginning to regret ever taking in this new spirit. Seeing as the only previous spirit she had before was Floramon, she wasn't quite adept at handling a rather forceful personality living inside of her. And she was apparently only one of three sisters. Would she even be able to study or properly take exams if they got bored and started chatting inside of her head when in class?
Well... things would probably work out okay. But was that even her own thought, or was Lili's confident, carefree nature seeping into her? After all this was over and she got back to the human world, she considered calling Kan up and perhaps ask the man some more questions. Maybe he would know a trick to dealing with a potentially rowdy spirit. He seemed to have a wealth of information, but she just had to find the right questions to pull it out of the man's lips.
She began to wonder how Hachi was doing as well. He was a spirit user that found his spirit at the same time as Honoka, after all. She could only hope that he was having better luck on his journey through the Digital World. She honestly couldn't imagine anyone else going through a rougher patch than her at the moment, but even if he did, the boy would most likely take it all in stride with that creepy smile of his. She was almost jealous of that trait of his. Almost.
Oh. My. Gosh. What is taking Fugamon so long!? Lili interrupted her thought process with her impatient complaining. She was surprised that she was able to be so quiet for so long. Apparently, even though the spirit could communicate with Honoka, she couldn't actually hear Honoka unless she spoke out loud. That was... comforting, to say the least. The last thing she needed was an annoyingly gossipy flower fairy reading into her thoughts and memories.
Seriously! Hurry up and get over here! I wanna beat you up already! The spirit was practically throwing a tantrum at this point. All of a sudden she found herself about to shout out to the sky, but Honoka managed to suppress the spirit's influence. And she didn't seem particularly happy about it. Honoka! Let me yell out again! They might have not heard me the first time!
"Absolutely not!" Honoka flatly stated. "I think everyone in the Southern Tropics heard you... or... us..." Her face reddened once more at Lili's rather... suggestive approach, however unintentional it may have been. Still... the fact that the spirit had called out their enemies so nonchalantly was rather comforting to the human girl. A little while ago, the girl had been desperately running for her life from the slaver, and now she was calmly waiting for him to show up so she could defeat him. There was no way that Lili's confidence wasn't rubbing off on her. She only hoped that she had enough strength to back it up her talk. It put her in the mood to get to know the spirit a little better. "So Lili, what exactly made you become a spi-"
Suddenly she heard a rustling noise off in the distance, as a smaller, red-haired oni appeared from behind one of the trees. It didn't take him long to notice Honoka, standing by herself in an open field of flowers.
Who's that? Lili inquired. She was seeing the same thing as Honoka, after all.
"Goblimon. He's one of Fugamon's flunkies..." Honoka explained. "Well... he's being forced to be a flunky. The truth is he's too scared of Fugamon to oppose him."
I see... The spirit muttered within Honoka's head. Even so, she suddenly felt a wave of disgust suddenly wash over her body. Was this Lili's emotions?
"You! Hono... Fish! Why did you..." Goblimon started moving towards her, then stopped walking when he stopped talking. "Fugamon isn't going to let you get away with this! He's definitely going to punish you! And there won't be anything we can do to stop him!"
Ooh... I think he likes you... The flower fairy internally teased the girl. That was definitely going to get annoying.
"So I could do what; let him keep me captive until he sells me off to some creep?" She replied to the Rookie-level Digimon. "Or should I have begged for mercy, and joined his little crew of slavers, compromising all my beliefs just because I was too scared to make a break for it?"
"And look where that's gotten you!" Goblimon sounded hysterical at this point. "He's going to find you, and then he's going to hurt you really bad! That's assuming he doesn't kill you by accident!"
"Not if he never finds me!" Honoka answered, surprisingly calm. "Turn around and tell him that I was long gone. Or lead him in another direction. Either way, there's something you can do to help someone in need, Goblimon."
"What do you mean...?"
Seriously, what do you mean!? I thought that we're supposed to bring Fugamon here so I can kick his sorry tail!
Honoka didn't answer either one of them for a bit, instead giving Goblimon a pleading look. "Just because Fugamon frightens you doesn't mean he can control you! If you fight back against your fears little-by-little, then you'll eventually be able to overcome them on your own!"
"Fugamon would kill me if he ever found out that I opposed him..."
"It's not about Fugamon anymore!" Honoka shot back. "Even if Fugamon dies today, you'll still be a coward for when the next Fugamon in your life shows up!"
That's certainly harsh of you to say... but I guess it's true...
"What do you mean!?" Goblimon repeated.
"I'm saying that you won't ever evolve as a Digimon, or as a person if you don't start taking steps to improve yourself today. So please, Goblimon..."
Any reason we're trying to appeal to this random mook of the guy we're gonna flatten soon?
"It's the right thing to do..." She stated, answering her silent partner and appealing to the Goblimon before her. Word Count: 1048 + 7693 = 8741

But no matter what Honoka said, Goblimon couldn't be persuaded with mere words. "Fugamon! I found her!" He yelled out at the top if his lungs. The look of shame on his face was apparent to the girl, and he refused to look her in the eye. Honoka had a feeling that her words wouldn't be able to reach the poor Digimon, yet was still overcome in disappointment. She had wished that she could have done more to help convince the poor Digimon, as he and Shamamon were just as much as victims as she was at the moment. If she were just a bit stronger, perhaps... Honoka clutched her D-Tector as she prepared. She wasn't strong enough before, but with Lili's help, hopefully that would be put to the test. Her new spirit ally didn't seem too concerned.
Seriously? You wasted all that time trying to convince him... only for him to do the thing we were planning on in the first place!
"Sorry..." Honoka whispered back, speaking to both Goblimon and her new partner.
No need to say that! This only means Fugamon's nearby and on his way! The sooner we get this over with the better!
Not far from where Goblimon appeared, the champion-level Fugamon stepped into view with Shamamon trailing a little farther behind him. He remained silent as he approached the flower field, occasionally glancing around to take in the view. But mainly he focused his gaze on the manacled girl.
"Well I'll be damned..." The bone-wielding Digimon spoke up, giving a glance to their colorful surroundings. "Didn't really expect you to give up so easily. I was wondering what kind that you laid out for us... Don't tell me you ran away from us just to show us the pretty view!" He let out a half-hearted chuckle. "If you really wanted to see the sights then you could have just asked, you know. I'd have been glad to drag your face across every inch of this world!"
He took another step forward, and Honoka unconsciously found herself taking another step back. It was all in her head, but now that he was in front of the girl once more, the Digimon seemed much taller than she remembered. All of a sudden she felt herself trembling, and her palms began sweating from nervousness. Her D-Tector nearly slipped out of her hands. Then she felt her heel lift up and take another step forward without her realizing it.
Ooh! Look at this guy! This guy sure likes to seem important, doesn't he? Lili's casual mockery managed to calm the girl down a bit. That's right... Honoka just had to trust in her new spirit ally. That she just met today. But it wasn't a gamble so much as it was the only option Honoka had left. She couldn't let herself get captured again. So she just had to trust Lili. She raised her D-Tector up, as if it were a shield that blocked away all of Fugamon's intimidating presence.
"You really want to go through this all again?" Fugamon asked with an amused tone. "Well... I was expecting you to put up a fight..." His open mouth crept into a freakish smile as he held his bone club at his side. "Well, I wasn't planning on bringing you back without a scratch, regardless! And we don't have an annoying Trailmon telling me not to 'damage the merchandise' anymore, so let's get a little wild, shall we?"
Honoka, are you ready? Let's make this big-talking ugly bastard eat every single word he's saying! Honoka nodded in response at her new partner's urging.
"Spirit... Evolution!" Honoka yelled out as a ring of data appeared around her hand. She slid her Digivice's scanner across the ring, shattering it into countless flower petals of data that tightly formed around her entire being.
Green boots appeared around her feet, with a golden sunflower design gleaming into existence on top. Two more sunflowers appeared on her heels like flowery spurs.
A bright pink dress wrapped around her torso, going further down until they flared out at her thighs to form a lily-flower dress. Two pairs of leaves sprouted out of her back and expanded into verdant wings.
She put out her arms as dark green sleeves detached from the dress formed around her arms, going past the elbows and ending at her wrists as yellow flower petals bloomed out. Her nails turned crimson and extended out.
Her hair grew out, suddenly clumping into locks of hair that turned into long, green vines. On top of her head, a matching lily flower bloomed out with a yellow stamen sticking out on top.
Her eyes opened her eyes to reveal pure jet-black orbs that reflected the light around her to make them constantly glitter. Then, Honoka gave a wink and made the peace sign over her eye as she struck a cutesy pose as she became...
"Lillymon!!!"
While Honoka was posing in her new form, she couldn't help but wonder... why. Fugamon, Goblimon, and Shamamon all seemed rather stunned by her sudden transformation.
Ugh... those bracelets of yours are totally cramping my style! Honoka heard Lili shout from within her mind. Honoka, let's blast them away!
Honoka raised her hands out in front of her. The flower petals on her wrists suddenly shone with a golden radiance as the manacles cracked and shattered under the Lillymon's power. "Sunshine... Cannon!!!" She cried out, sending a blast of golden energy right towards Fugamon.
Wait... Sunshine? That doesn't seem quite right...
Honoka didn't have time to ponder what Lili had just said, as she watched Fugamon raise his large bone club. He suddenly swung it at Honoka's projectile. The oni-like Digimon skid backwards a couple meters from the force of the impact, but after letting out a triumphant roar he deflected the blast off to the side, a only sign of damage being a slight scorch mark on his club.
"Well what do you know... The little flower managed to power up a bit! I thought you looked a little different! I didn't even know you humans were capable of doing that!"
Umm... Honoka? Something's not quite right...
"To be honest, once you turned into a Lillymon I started to get a little worried, but it doesn't seem like you pack nearly a punch as I thought you would!" Fugamon gave a chuckle as he brandished his club and charged towards Honoka. "But if you're stronger, then that means you might be able to take a little bit more punishment, so it's fine by me!" He swung his club down towards the flower Digimon, but Honoka managed to twirl around the blow at the last second, stepping in close to the Fugamon and throw a rather awkward punch that collided with the oni Digimon's cheek. Honoka's felt a sudden pain in her hand from the impact, but the force of her blow made her foe stagger back a step.
What is... that punch should have sent him flying!
"Like I said..." Fugamon began, easily able to regain his footing. He wasn't giving Honoka time to dwell on Lili's comment. "You don't pack a punch! Heavy Swing!!!" He whirled his club around to collide with the Lillymon's mid-section. The sheer might of the Fugamon's strike managed to send Honoka flying back several meters, eventually falling and tumbling through the edge of the flower field and into the glimmering pond. Honoka was in the water for all of two seconds before she regained her senses as she got out of the water and flew straight up into the air.
"Lili... What did you mean when you said that something wasn't right earlier..." Honoka whispered, once she was high up enough to have gained some distance between herself and Fugamon. She was already gasping for breath as she clutched her aching stomach.
I... I really don't get it! I'm supposed to be an Ultimate-level Digimon, so a punk like Fugamon is supposed to be no problem for me! But this body... doesn't seem quite right!
"Well look at that!" Honoka heard Fugamon comment in a mocking tone from below. "The little flower girl's all soaked from her dip in the water! We don't want her to catch a cold now, do we?" He pointed his club towards the two smaller oni-like Digimon. "You two! How about you throw her something to help the lady dry off a bit? It's only polite, after all!"
That attack shouldn't have hurt nearly as much as it did! So either that Fugamon is a lot stronger than the average Champion-level Digimon...
Both Rookie-level Digimon hesitantly stepped forward. They held out their hand as an orb of flame appeared in each one.
"Shama Bomb!!!" "Goblin Bomb!!!"
Two flaming spheres were launched up towards the aerial Lillymon. Still recovering Fugamon's attack, all Honoka could do was cross her arms as the burning spheres collided with her body and exploded. Honoka let out a scream of pain as her aerial form went spiraling out of control, but she managed to stop herself from falling right before she fell back into the water. She remembered their attacks hurting her much more than before, but she still felt a surprising amount of pain from the Rookie-level attacks.
Those attacks shouldn't have even fazed us! Now I'm certain! Lili's internal voice was nearly in a panic. Honoka... I don't know how to explain this... but it's not that Fugamon is stronger than I thought... But for some reason, this body is weaker than when I was alive as a regular Lillymon!

"What does that mean!?" Honoka whispered back to her spiritual partner. "Are you telling me that after all that bragging you can't beat Fugamon?"
How was I supposed to know that I wouldn't be as strong as I used to be? Lili countered defensively. It's not like I've ever been a spirit before! And for the record; you're the first human I've ever met! I'm just as new to this being a spirit thing as you are to being a spirit-user!
"So how can we beat Fugamon, then? Because right now things aren't looking too good!" Honoka over towards Fugamon and his two cronies, Goblimon and Shamamon. The two Rookie-stage Digimon were gathering another fireball in their hand, preparing for a second wave of bombs.
We can still beat him! Lili exclaimed. I was surprised by my lack of strength earlier, but if we take things seriously, then we can definitely win! If I had to say... we're about evenly matched, but with his two goons things are gonna be much harder! We're definitely stronger than those two, so we should focus on taking them out to even the playing field!
"No! We can't just take them out!" Honoka stated. "Fugamon's the one pulling their strings! If we can beat him, then Goblimon and Shamamon will stop fighting! I know it!"
And how are we supposed to beat Fugamon if they keep getting in the way?
"Shama Bomb!!!" "Goblin Bomb!!!"
The pair launched another pair of fireballs towards Honoka, but now that she was able to prepare, the flying Digimon was easily able to avoid them, easily moving out of range of their explosion. She flew forward at full speed, directly towards Fugamon.
"We're not going to hurt them, and that's final!" Honoka's voice gave no quarter for argument. "So if I were you, I would think of a way to take out Fugamon! Sunlight Booster!!!" Lillymon's entire body was surrounded by a warm, golden energy.
You're impossible! Fine! If a punch doesn't work, then try... kicking him or something!
"Is that seriously the best you can come up with!?"
We're in the middle of a battle, so I'm a little flustered, okay!? And fighting was never my strong-suit! I was always more of a dancer!
Before Honoka could marvel at their common interest, she was already just a meter away from Fugamon.
"Nice of you to get in closer!" Fugamon said with a cheeky grin. He swung his club at the flower fairy, but the glowing Lillymon took to the skies at the last second, narrowly avoiding the blow. "That flying's starting to get kind of annoying!"
"Sunshine... Kick!!!" Honoka dove down with all her might, all the golden energy surrounding her body condensing into her left foot as she attempted to stomp the large oni Digimon's smug face in. Fugamon raised his club up at the last second to block the attack, but Honoka's kick, powered up by her dive and the golden energy, was the fragile-looking fairy's kick was far more powerful than it had any right to be. With a sharp snap, Fugamon's bone club shattered into hundreds of bone splinters. Before they even hit the ground, they turned into loose fragments of data that scattered into dust-like particles.
Woo-hoo! Lili cheered. How's that! Not so tough without your big bone club, are ya? Now take this all the way home, Honoka!
For the first time since she met him, Honoka saw an expression from the Fugamon she had never seen before. His eyes went wide as he suddenly took a step back from the human-turned Digimon. And for once, the oni Digimon was speechless.
"Have you had enough yet?" Honoka asked the surprised Digimon. Maybe... just maybe... "If you think you can beat me without your weapon, then feel free to keep fighting!" Honoka landed on the ground, just a couple of meters in front of Fugamon.
Umm... what? Don't say stuff like that, Honoka! Hurry up and blast him with your cannon or something!
"...What did you just say?" Fugamon managed to stammer out.
"I'm giving you the chance to surrender, Fugamon!" Honoka announced. "You're an evil Digimon, and a slaver, so I'm sure that there's some sort of place in Terminus or Rosewood that would love to get their hands on you! So turn yourself in!"
"You want me to... surrender? Just like that?" The oni Digimon seemed more surprised by Honoka's statement than his weapon's destruction.
"Believe me, a part of me wants to do the same thing to your face that I just did to your weapon, but this the right thing to do! I never wanted this stupid fight in the first place!"
"That's... I... I never even thought like that..." Fugamon's looked at his hands, as if he were imagining himself in handcuffs. His posture suddenly slumped as his stance relaxed. Honoka let out a sigh of relief. Finally, she didn't have to be involved in this senseless fight anymore.
Honoka! Lili let out a warning as Fugamon suddenly jumped forward with an outstretched hand. Instinctively the Digimon girl stepped back to avoid him.
"Damp Cloud!!!" A sphere of crackling lightning formed inside of his hand as it shot out towards Honoka. The girl wasn't able to avoid it in time as it leapt out and electrified the girl. She let out a shrill shriek as the crackling lightning sent waves of searing pain all throughout her entire body as every part of her digital body tensed up all at once. Her body relaxed when the electricity faded, but the pain remained. She collapsed to her knees, shivering from the shock and pain. Fugamon began to approach the weakened Lillymon.
"Gotta get away..." Honoka tried to fly away, but her wings were still too numb to control. The only thing her wings could do was tremble uncontrollably.
"You tried to get give ME orders!?" There was a gruffness in Fugamon's voice that had never existed previously before. Fugamon raised his fist, and slammed it down onto her head, sending the flower Digimon into the flowery field beneath her. "Just because you got slightly stronger... just because you broke out of your chains... Don't think for a second that you're not my prisoner, fish!" He lifted his foot and stomped down on the prone fairy. Honoka's head was still ringing from the punch, and couldn't do anything to avoid it. Fugamon's large foot nearly crushed the Lillymon, and despite her best efforts to push it off of her, she had taken too much damage to gather the strength. She could barely breathe at this point.
Honoka... Lili's voice sounded as weak and pained as Honoka felt at the moment. I don't think I can take any more...
"But something tells me that no matter how badly I beat you down..." Fugamon muttered. He pulled his foot back, letting the Lillymon gasp for air. Honoka tried to escape, but her opponent was too quick. He grabbed Honoka by her neck and lifted her into the air. "You're just gonna keep fighting, aren't you?"
Honoka grasped at the hand around her throat, digging her long, sharp nails into the Fugamon's flesh. Fugamon let out a growl of pain, but his grip didn't loosen.
"You're a fighter, through-and-through! I'd almost respect that, if it weren't for the fact that you seem to be pissing me off with every little useless struggle!" She felt his grip tighten around her, and once more, just being able to breathe became a struggle.
Don't give up, Honoka! You can still fight back! Even Lili's voice seemed distant to her, however. Still, her spirit ally was right. Honoka let go of Fugamon's hand and pointed it towards the Digimon's chest. Her hand blossomed into a cannon barrel that glowed with a golden light.
"Sunshine... C-" Before she could get her attack off, however, Fugamon's hand crackled with electricity once more as the Lillymon was electrocuted once more. The light from her hand faded and fell limply to her side as her digital body began to crumble away.
I-I'm so sorry, but I can't... Anymore... Lili's voice faded away from Honoka's consciousness as once more, she became a helpless human in the Fugamon's grasp.

Now that Honoka was virtually defenseless, Fugamon saw fit to drop the girl to the ground instead of crushing her windpipe. The grass and flowers absorbed some of the shock of the fall, but it didn't do anything for the pain she felt through her entire body from all the damage she sustained. She was lay there prone, desperately coughing for air. She grasped her neck with one hand while she clutched her D-Tector to her chest with the other.
"You know... for a second there, I was actually worried that I was going to lose!" The gruffness in Fugamon's voice had begun to ebb away as his smoother, more calm demeanor took over. "You actually had a chance to beat me, but you threw it all away!" He bent down to grab Honoka's arm, the one holding her Digivice. "Because you got a little stronger, you got drunk off your own power and thought that you could lecture your opponent in the middle of a fight!" Honoka knew that resisting would be a futile effort, but she tried to pull her arm away anyway. To no one's surprise, she couldn't escape his grasp.
"But that's not gonna happen again," He grabbed Honoka's Digivice with his thumb and forefinger of his massive hand.
"N-no! Don't!" She heard herself cry out. She couldn't let him have her Digivice! If she lost her Digivice, then what would happen to Floramon and Lily? She clutched her Digivice as hard as she could, even grasping it with her other hand as well.
"I already told you, fish! You don't get to order me around!" His grip tightened and for a moment Honoka thought her arm was going to snap right in half. She grit her teeth to deal with the pain, but she didn't once loosen her grip.
But Honoka could have grabbed her Digivice with twenty hands and still wouldn't be enough. Fugamon had no difficulty yanking Honoka's Digivice from her grasp before kicking the girl away.
Honoka let out a yelp of pain as she rolled through the field, stopping on her belly as her side ached from Fugamon's casual kick. She heard the oni Digimon snap his fingers. "Well, now that we disarmed the little human, take care of her, you two!" Goblimon and Shamamon run up to the girl and grabbed her arms. She tried to pull herself free from their grasp, but they held on tight.
"Stop struggling, Honoka... I mean, fish!" Goblimon shouted out in an attempt at anger.
"We're going to drag you back whether you like it or not, so the less you resist, the less we'll have to hurt you!" Shamamon added, a pained expression in his face.
"No. We're not taking her back to the Trailmon," Fugamon stated coldly. "She's proven to be much more trouble than she's worth. It's gonna be a shame that we're losing out on a human, but it's not like we're going to be going back completely empty-handed..." He lifted up Honoka's Digivice, then placed it on his waist-cloth. "I hear only humans can use these, but I bet there's gonna be some crazy collector willing to pay us a fortune for one of these!"
"So... what do you want us to do...?" Goblimon's voice was trembling. Honoka knew that the Digimon already understood what his boss meant.
"Take your club and bash her head in, burn her to death, make her explode... I don't care, but just get rid of her." Fugamon stated, turning away and examining the pond. "At least she gets to die with such a gorgeous view!"
"B-boss!" Shamamon spoke up. "Maybe... we can still capture her after all! After all, we took away her Digivice thing! If she can't transform then she can't fight us anymore! There's definitely more profit in it for us if we let her..." As Shamamon made his plea, Fugamon turned back around to glare at the smaller oni-like Digimon. Shamamon wasn't even able to finish his sentence before his throat closed from fear.
"Oh? And it sounds to me like you like this little girl more than you fear me," Fugamon began to slowly walk towards the three. "Am I wrong, or do I have to show you two why you both feared me in the first place?"
"N-no! That won't be necessary!" Honoka felt the Digimon hands holding her go ice-cold. The two Digimon let of Honoka, dropping her back to the ground.
"Good. Then take care of it." Honoka couldn't hear Fugamon's footsteps anymore. She did see Shamamon stand over her, a club raised in his hand.
"I-Im sorry... Honoka!" He managed to snivel out with teary eyes. But before he could swing down, another club smacked him across the head, sending him crashing down to the ground. "Goblimon... why?"
"Because..." The red-haired oni-like Digimon had a face similar to Shamamon's but there was a fire in his eyes. "Because I have to do the right thing!" He spun around to face Fugamon, grasping a flaming orb in his hand. "Goblin Bomb!!!" He let it loose towards the surprised Champion-level as it collided with his chest and exploded.
"Goblimon, wait!" Honoka tried to yell out to the foolish Rookie-level Digimon. What was he thinking!? There wasn't any way that was enough to take out Fugamon.
"Shamamon! Honoka! Both of you run away! Please!" He cried out, charging towards Fugamon before the explosion even cleared.
"Looks like the little human isn't the only one that's going to die today!" Fugamon shouted out, clearing away the rest of the smoke with his large arms. Even so, Goblimon wasn't deterred. Fugamon kicked at the smaller oni Digimon, but Goblimon suddenly pirouetted out of the way, using the momentum of his spin to slam his club into Fugamon's other leg. It was enough force to cause the Champion-level Digimon to fall over. Goblimon then grabbed the Digivice from Fugamon's waist and tossed it over towards Honoka. She wasn't in a position to catch it, however, and it overshot a couple of meters. Still, Honoka found the strength to crawl through the flower field to get it.
"You've gotten on my last nerve!" She heard Fugamon yell out in a rage. She heard the crackling of electricity, and the sound of Goblimon letting out a shriek of agony. But Honoka didn't turn back around. She kept on crawling forward with tears in her eyes. "Where'd all that energy from before go, huh?" Honoka heard a cracking sound followed by an even louder scream. Honoka still moved forward. "You really thought you could take me down with such meager attacks?" A loud thud, followed up, of course, by more of the Goblimon's screams. Then the screams abruptly ended. Honoka reached out and grasped her D-Tector, pulling it closer to her. She turned around to see Goblimon lying motionless at Fugamon's feet.
"Fugamon!" Honoka shouted out to the imposing Champion-level. She struggled a great deal, but the girl managed to stand up. She held her D-Tector Digivice in front of her. "We're not done yet! I... still haven't given up fighting you!" She honestly didn't think she could win, but she had to get Fugamon away from Goblimon. She didn't think that she could use Lili anymore, and even though Floramon was still injured from the fight on the Trailmon, it was all she had. Maybe she could buy enough time for Shamamon to carry off Goblimon and...
"Just one more second," Fugamon noted, acknowledging the girl, yet looking down towards the prone Goblimon. He lifted his leg up and stomped down on the motionless Rookie-level with all his might. After a horrendous crunching noise, the Goblimon's body suddenly scattered into countless fragments of data. "Now, you said you wanted to keep fighting?"
"Goblimon!" Shamamon shouted out as he watched his partner vanish.
"Why... would you..." Honoka couldn't finish her sentence. She was trying to protect Goblimon, but instead, he ended up sacrificing his life in order to give Honoka a chance at life. It seemed he had taken her words to heart after all, but that wasn't what she had meant! There was no point in running off and dying! She clutched her D-Tector as she grit her teeth. Her knees went weak, yet still she stood. "How could you possibly do that!? Just kill someone so casually!?"
"Because he opposed me," Fugamon answered calmly. "He and his partner begged me, offering to serve me in exchange for their lives. He stopped serving me, so I took his life. That's all there is to it."
"That's no reason!" Honoka shouted out. Tears ran down her face, but her eyes blazed with a fervor she had never felt before. A ring of data appeared in her hand once again. She wasn't going to just try and fend off Fugamon anymore. "You... no punishment is good enough for a bastard like you! I'm going to end you, even if I have to die in the process!"
"Hey now, don't you think you're getting a little worked up about this?" Fugamon still had a smug grin on his face, despite his words. "He was just some slaver, after all! Why do you care so much when he was one of the ones that put you in this situation in the first place?"
"Because he was just as much of a victim as I was!" Honoka shouted back. Her voice was hoarse from all her shouting, but a scratched throat wasn't on her mind in the least. "He may have done some horrible things, but he still could have repented for them! But you took that away from him!" She slid her D-Tector across the fractal code across her hand, and once more, she took the form of Lillymon. Yet, the form wasn't quite right. Fragments of her body were missing, like a character model's texture was wiped away. In their place were blackened wireframes that vaguely took the Digimon's shape.
And all at once, she heard Lili's voice once again, in the form of an agonizing scream that never ended. Honoka felt the pain as well, and immediately felt disgusted at herself for putting Lili through this. But she had to do it.
It wasn't the right thing to do, but in her fit of solemn rage, it was the only thing that mattered to her.
"Sunlight... Booster!!!" Honoka worked through the pain, focusing everything she could in gathering the sunlight energy in her body. And sure enough her body once again emanated a golden light. It was all she could take just keeping the form up, but she had to fight through it just a little longer. She raised her hands out and pointed them towards Fugamon.
"Like I'm just gonna stand here and let you do that!" He yelled out, gathering a sphere of electricity once more. "Damp Cloud!!!" Fugamon launched the sphere towards Honoka. There wasn't anyway for the girl to avoid the attack. Her only choice was to hope she could handle the pain enough to counterattack.
"No!" Shamamon suddenly leaped forward, jumping in the way of Fugamon's electrical assault. He let out a cry of anguish as he succumbed to the attack, slumping to the ground, unconscious.
"Fucking worthless minions!" Fugamon shouted out, suddenly running forward to crush Honoka with his bare hands. In an instant he managed to close the gap between the two, once more grasping the fragmented fairy by the throat. But even so, Honoka held her stance.
"Sunshine... Double... Cannon!!!" Both hands poured out all the sunlight energy from her body and unloaded into Fugamon's upper torso. She heard the oni Digimon let out a shriek that suddenly cut itself short as his hand suddenly went limp and dropped Honoka to the ground. Her knees bucked, but she knew that she had to stay standing. She had to prepare another attack in case Fugamon still survived. Yet even as she thought this, what was left of the Lillymon form had faded away once more and Honoka the human girl was standing in her place.
But she was finally able to rest easy. Fugamon's entire head, along with a massive part of his upper body was missing entirely, completely disintegrated from Honoka's attack. His body, like Goblimon before him, began to scatter into countless pieces of data that vanished into the air. Finally, Fugamon was no more.
Honoka allowed her knees to give in then, as she suddenly felt her body drop to the ground. She rolled around on her back, pressing her forearm against her eyes to hide them from the world as she used them to let out all her mixed emotions.
Tears of the relief that the slaver that had traumatized her so badly was now gone. Tears of anguish that she was forced to go against everything she believed in and had to kill him to do so.
Tears of mourning for the slaver that she was unable to save. Tears of joy that she had been able to convince him, at least at the very end, that he could fight against his fears.
Tears of delight that she had managed to obtain a new ally spirit and hopefully make a new friend. Tears of regret that she forced that very friend to her limit and then some.
Tears for the fact that she had become stronger. Tears for the fact that she still wasn't strong enough.
Tears for every scratch, bruise, and ache she had accumulated on this day. Tears that she knew there would be more to come.
Honoka lay there in the field of flowers for a good while longer, just letting rampant emotion she had gathered up in the day.
Because the day still wasn't over yet.

Honoka had no idea how long she had spent in the flower field. She had spent all night there, but couldn't sleep. Even in the moonlight, the fountain in the pond gave off an aurora-like veil that still managed to keep the area dimly lit. She was still awake when the sun rose.
"So... what do you plan on doing?" Shamamon had woken up. He still looked hurt, but Honoka had the feeling that he was hurting a lot more on the inside than any of his external injuries.
"I need to return to the human world soon..." Honoka answered. "But I need to wait for my friend to wake up, first. There's... something else I need to do..." She held her Digivice up to her chest. She could tell that the Shamamon had no idea what she was talking about, and to be perfectly honest, Honoka only had a vague notion of what she needed to do. Still, the small oni-like Digimon didn't ask to elaborate.
"Well... I'm glad..." It seemed he wasn't sure what to say, either. "I... want to return to the Village of Beginnings..." Honoka turned back to look at him.
"That's... the place where all the Digimon get reborn, right?" Did he want to find Goblimon again? Or was he going to get his revenge on a newly-hatched Fugamon?
"Well... yeah... But I don't want to live there again..." He clenched his fist as he held up his club. "We told you before, remember? Goblimon and I were... captured on our way to Rosewood. I want to stay nearby and prevent any new Rookie Digimon from meeting the same fate. Maybe there's a town guard or something I could join, or something..."
"That... sounds nice, actually..." Honoka admitted. She was surprised how easily Shamamon was able to deal with this. Or perhaps, he had been thinking about doing this for a long time now. Though she imagined that he never planned on doing it alone. "I'm over at Rosewood fairly frequently. If you ever feel like you need help, or just want someone to hang out with..." She gave him a warm smile as she forced out a brief laugh. "I swear that most days aren't nearly as exciting for me!" Shamamon returned the smile with an awkward grin.
"I... think I may take you up on that offer one day. But... I think I'm going to head out now. I'm going to convince Laber to give me a ride. He's out of a job now, so it's not like he has anything better to do. After that, I think a few people in Terminus would be interested to hear about his... off-the-book activities!"
Honoka nodded to him, offering the Digimon her hand. Shamamon grasped it and took one shake before parting ways. "Please take care, Shamamon."
"You too," He answered. He looked around for an awkward second. "And Honoka? I am sorry about everything we put you through today..." The girl held up her hand and waved it off dismissively.
"Let's try and leave that behind us, okay?" They gave one final nod to each other before Shamamon made his exit. Not long after she thought she heard the sound of a Trailmon taking off in the distance.
After nearly an hour, Honoka finally felt the time was right. "Hey, Lili? Can you hear me?" There was a long period of silence.
What do you want...? Her voice was weak, but obviously upset.
"I wanted to apologize to you for forcing you to go through... what you did..." Honoka wasn't sure how to properly word it. "It's just... I didn't think I had any other choice, so..."
You don't need to say you're sorry... Lili admitted. Floramon already explained things to me while you were sleeping.
Honoka couldn't keep the surprise off her face. She was able to understand Floramon? Was it just a flower Digimon thing, or did the sprite actually know how to speak this entire time!?
But what you did, transforming like that after I was already hurt so much... It hurt more than anything I've ever felt before! Lili didn't have a trace of her usual playful tone. Honoka... I remember dying once before. And I don't want to experience that again. So promise that you won't ever do something so reckless ever again! Not to me, not to my sisters, to Floramon, or to any other Spirit you encounter!
"I promise!" Honoka answered without hesitation. She experienced a taste of what Lili went through when she pulled her little stunt to defeat Fugamon.
I'm serious! Don't ever do it again!
"And I'm serious, too! I promise that I'll get stronger!" Honoka couldn't keep the tears from forming again. "Strong enough that I never have to resort to doing that again! Is that good enough!"
Lili was silent again, until she spoke back up with her usual cutesy voice. Sheesh! You're lucky you've got such an adorable sprite! And that you have me now, for that matter!
"That's right!" Honoka stood up, facing the fountain in the pond. "Lili, you said there was something you wanted me to do, right? Something about getting the spirits of your sisters?"
Oh? So you weren't just trying to use me, after all! I think there might be hope for you yet, Honoka!
"Excuse me? You're the one that offered to help me, remember?"
Ah... is that right? Well, whatever! That's so far in the past I can't even remember it anymore!
"You're kidding me, right?" Honoka seemed baffled by Lili's sudden carefree attitude. She wondered if the spirit was putting up a front, or was only pretending to be serious for a bit.
Does this sexy voice sound like someone who fools around~?
"What does the 'sexy' part even have to do with anything!?"
Ooh! So you don't deny it!
"Like I said; completely irrelevant!" She gritted her teeth at Lili's constant playfulness. There were two more spirits related to her!? "Whatever! Just tell me what I have to do already!"
Just point your Digivice towards that fountain! That should be enough... probably!
"Probably!?"
I already told you that I'm new to this stuff as well! It's not we get a handbook to look over once we become spirits!
Honoka raised her Digivice up towards the fountain, and suddenly the melodic droplets of water amplified as a blue sphere of light surged forth from the waters. At the same time, the rainbows in the mist suddenly converged into a lavender sphere. Both spheres suddenly flew into Honoka's Digivice.
Honoka! These are my sisters, Lulu and Lala! Hey, you two! Wake up and... Oh... I guess they're still asleep!
"Lili, Lulu, and Lala..." Honoka muttered. Well, at least they received points for consistency. "So... are they going to wake up, or...?"
Eh, I'm sure they'll wake up, eventually! Anyways... I think I'm gonna join them in sleeping. I've had a pretty exciting day, after all! If you need me, just give me a ring, 'kay?
"Wait, Lili!" Honoka tried to call out, but she felt Lili's consciousness fade from her mind. She gave one more look at her surroundings. How the hell was she supposed to get home? Final Word Count: 1204 + 14011 = 15215
