It seemed Honoka had little to worry about, as by the time she got to the struggling Digimon Shoutmon had already defeated his opponent and celebrated his victory, practically proclaiming his greatness. Honoka looked on in confusion as he ran off towards the customer who was just about to exit. She put her hands on her hips as the celebrating red dragon offered her a high-five, and gave him an unimpressed glare.
"While it's 'sweet' that you were able to defeat Palmon, but..." She began, thinking that the Shoutmon, as boisterous and reckless, was a better alternative than the Palmon who was willing to attack a defenseless boy. "Are you sure you should be celebrating just yet? What if Palmon gets up while you're doing your victory dance. Shouldn't you be escorting her to a certain train ride home before she can cause any more damage?"
She had all but given up on trying to keep the Digimon away from the young man at this point. The two Digimon seemed to gravitate towards him for some inexplicable reason. Besides, the language barrier would hopefully keep him in the dark.

"Come on - don't leave me hangin'!" Shoutmon's grin combined with the hand he didn't take back suggested that he was still confident he could charm his way into getting that five from Honoka after all. Although he was pretty stubborn about it, that turned out not to be the case. The inevitability of time passing meant that he did have to give up in the end and grumble, "...spoilsport." It was only at this point that his other hand also let Dylan's go. The boy raised it to his own eye level and inspected it curiously, like he'd just noticed something about it he never had before, or like he was checking to make sure nothing got left behind on it. He did just clasp hands with a little dragon, after all. "Alright, we're goin', we're goin'." Shoutmon wasn't exactly gentle with Palmon. On the contrary, his bright idea to move her was to grab her by the arms and pull her like that without any apparent concern for her well-being. "Come on, we got a train to catch." After a few feet it became plainly clear that this was a very inefficient way to transport the barely-conscious plant, so he switched it up by heaving her up onto his own back and shoulders. "Uuuurgh, OK. Next time, you're carryin' me." Palmon groaned. "Yeah, yeah. And yeah, you- kid!"
"Pretty sure I'm the oldest one here."
"How much did you see?"
"Not even a little bit."
"Got that right."
"So, uh- did you want this back?" Even though Honoka probably caught very little of that little exchange, there was still something possibly interesting to latch onto: the boy was holding up a palm-sized handheld electronic device that... well, he didn't really know anything else about it. He didn't really care, either - it wasn't his place to go pushing buttons on something that didn't belong to him. If he saw nothing, it was also probably best if he wasn't hanging on to any evidence either. Everyone else present, however, knew exactly what it was. Shoutmon definitely did, because the sight of it made his eyes widen about as far as they could go and his feet stop exactly where they were.
His arms gave way, too, carelessly dropping the defeated Palmon onto the ground with a dull, "Oof." In the boy's hand - the same one Shoutmon had slapped a moment ago - he was displaying a device that looked something like...

Honoka continued giving Shoutmon a glare until he finally retracted his offer for a hi-five and moved to pick up the Palmon. She wondered how stealthy a bright dragon creature carrying a flower monster could be, but she supposed she could assume that the Shoutmon could make it back to the Digital World safely. After all, Palmon managed to sneak into the shop, and Shoutmon was able to find her.
Shoutmon said his goodbyes to the young man, but he seemed rather distracted at the moment. Still, he promised not to say a word about it, so Honoka nodded in agreement. The last thing she needed were those DATS coming around, wondering why there was a Digimon hanging around these parts. So long as the young man kept his mouth shut there wouldn't be any problems... not that there was much Honoka could do if he did decide to speak out.
But what was most fascinating of all was the device that had appeared in the young man's hand. Honoka recognized it immediately. She had seen a device of a similar design before, from a foreign computer repair guy that visited the shop.
Honoka simply covered her mouth as she gasped in surprise.
Seriously. If Digimon only ever appear in Shibuya... Why did every foreigner have a god-damned Digivice?
But the real question was... what was this guy going to do?

...Why is everyone looking at me like that? Normally unafraid to be the center of attention, the darkly-clothed young man was nonetheless giving a skittish gaze back to both of the people who were looking at him all shocked and floored. Should he have said something? What? He couldn't be sure. He didn't understand the significance of what he was holding or the fact that he was holding it. All he knew was when Honoka brandished a machine that looked something like similar technology - same manufacturer, maybe? - it freaked out those two monsters before. "Uh, should I...?" Dylan started to lower his hand and turn it palm-up, indicating he was just about to drop it on the ground.
Shoutmon didn't let that happen. "No, no, no, no, no!" The demi-dragon urgently rebuffed him, running straight at the boy and using his two hands to keep Dylan's one hand closed tight around that little gadget. "Keep it, man, keep it! It's yours. Aww, dude!" Shoutmon seemed to be struggling for what to say himself, but unlike Dylan that didn't stop him from trying. He made a pretty wide variety of excited lizard noises for a second before finally settling on, "This is so cool. Uh- hey, man, I gotta go. But we're gonna talk. We'll talk!" Shoutmon was shouting that last point as he dashed away yet again, just rounding the corner of an alley and falling out of sight.
"What just-?" Dylan was interrupted by a more urgent thought. "How do I find you?"
"I'll find you!" was the response which came very faintly. Perhaps Shoutmon managed to make quite some distance between the two in quite a short amount of time. However, both humans would soon hear the sound of more footsteps soon. Although neither one saw most of Shoutmon again that night, they got one last look at his arms as they reached out for the Palmon and dragged her into the alleyway almost comically slowly.
As the moment finally seemed to pass, and only after his jaw quit dropping did the boy finally turn to Honoka and ask in nervous broken Japanese, "So... how- do I need to do anything? For the cactus? Like... water, ever, or...?"

Honoka stunned silence continued on as the Shoutmon said his goodbyes, spoke to Dylan, and then took off, taking the Palmon with him.
And don't come back, vandals! She heard Lili shout from in her mind. But she was able to ignore her spirit for the most part. She could only hope that Shoutmon wouldn't get into trouble on his way back to the Digital World. Though... him wanting to come back to see the young man later, which sounded a little troublesome... but maybe that was for a reason? Honoka had admittedly spent more of her time around other Spirit Users rather than Digivice-wielders with partner Digimon. Besides Desmond and Demi-chan, she hadn't even met another tamer. But was this how Digimon and humans met their partners? Then again, considering how her Digivice accentuated a bad morning by literally dropping on top of her head... she figured that Digivices appeared in all kinds of different ways.
But if Shoutmon seemed to want to spend more time around the young man... did that mean they were partners now? Well... it didn't involve Honoka any, but she wondered if...
The young man then started asking questions about the cactus, interrupting her thoughts.
"Well... Cacti tend to be pretty resilient, so they're pretty popular for people with busy schedules who don't have a lot of time to take care of other houseplants," She explained, slowly and concisely, in case he wanted to use his translator. "Generally you can get away with watering it once a week, but don't mist it. Just pour water into the soil until it all becomes damp, and the roots will soak it all up. You also don't need to put it in direct sunlight, either. Putting it a Southward-facing window would probably be preferable..." Was there anything else? "Oh, yeah, I don't know if you're superstitious or not, but placing a cactus in an entrance or a living room can be considered bad luck... I'd recommend putting it in a..." She suddenly shook her head. There were more important things to talk about!
"But never mind the cactus!" She blurted out. Even an idiot could take care of one! "Umm... I don't want to presume, but I think that your life got a bit more... complicated..." She then realized that after all this time she didn't even know the boy's name. "Oh, by the way, I'm Honoka! Nijimura Honoka!"

Once a week. Soil, not mist. South window. Dylan really was trying his best to keep up with the instructions for proper cactus care as carefully as the girl was clearly trying to be clear and concise. He thought he should ignore that last bit, though; superstitions were silly, he thought, completely ignoring his own tendency for such magical thinking when it came to his old stage habits. It's probably going in my bedroom anyway, though, he decided in the end, It's still kind of empty.
Dylan recoiled when the girl went on to shout about how the care for his new plant didn't matter, something which he strongly disagreed. "What, you mean... you mean the little flower thing, right? And the lizard? And the- this thing?" Dylan showed his digivice again. At least he recognized an introduction without a translator's help, and he knew how to give one back in kind. "Watashi wa Dylan desu. Loon Dylan." The northeast America accent didn't disappear, but those words did flow a bit more naturally than most of his other attempts. Crap. Should I bow? Pretty sure I should bow. He did. If he shouldn't have, well... Better safe than sorry?
"Look, uh, listen. I know what happened. I just don't... understand it." Leith said that while with one hand on his phone his thumb was rapidly typing a text message to his mother: Missed the bus. Gonna be late. He hadn't, actually, not yet. He just had a strong feeling that he was probably going to. "He - he?" Dylan momentarily questioned his own choice of pronoun for the otherwise apparently male digimon. He briefly considered 'they' and even thought long and hard about 'it.' Ultimately, though, the boy stayed the course. "He said he would find me. I guess the biggest question is, should I want him to?" Finally being forced to face what happened head-on, the previously relaxed and distracted demeanor of the boy became a bit tighter and uneasy.

The boy introduced himself as Dylan and gave a bow, while Honoka returned it out of pure reflex. Honoka hadn't meant to startle the boy and panicked for a second as a result. But once things got under control she managed to get a grip on herself. "Yes. The plant creature is called a Palmon. And the lizard is called Shoutmon," She scratched her head, wondering how her next statement was going to go over. She found it a little hard to believe herself, so language barrier aside, she wasn't sure if he was going to understand. "They both come from a world of data where monsters of all shapes and sizes live. It's a place called the Digital World. I guess you could call them... aliens? But they don't come from space, but from computers and stuff..."
Dylan was texting something as they were talking. It was getting late, and he had definitely spent more time that he had intended. He probably had plans already, and the shop was going to close soon, regardless. She could just clean the store up later. Plus, if he was new to this part of town, she didn't want him traveling alone when it got dark. "If he... if Shoutmon said he plans on meeting you again, it probably means that the two of you are partners. And the thing that connects the two of you is that device that you got. It's called a Digivice, and it's kind of... like a badge that represents that you're a human that's connected to the Digimon and the Digital World..." She walked on over to the door and flipped the sign to signal that the store was closed.
"If you don't mind, I could walk you to wherever you need to go. We could talk a little longer, and it's safer than traveling alone. Especially since it looks like you have something worth taking..." She pointed towards the guitar case on his back. Her words implied that it was a suggestion, but her tone implied that it was more of a command.

Oh, sure, Dylan thought but knew he better not say, nothing says 'don't mess with me' like bringing along the flower shop girl. Besides, the walk home would have been a fair few miles, not impossible but also not desirable, especially for someone who would have had to walk back. He had another idea. "That's really nice, but I can't ask you that. But, uh, do you mind if I hang out until I can get an Uber out here?" He gave a smile, then, but it was a little uneasy. Besides, it, uh... it looks like that mess they made is kinda my fault. Pass me a broom?" The Uber Dylan had called out to his location wasn't exactly accepted quickly, but maybe the driver who finally showed up was hoping for the great review he had promised just for showing up. That, or the real danger was the car. Who knew? During the wait, Dylan helped cleanup as much as Honoka would let him, and with whatever time remained he hoped to talk a bit more about this whole 'digimon' nonsense. He wasn't sure he understood it, but at the very least it was one of those rare opportunities for him to have a meaningful conversation to practice his Japanese a little.
His head was spinning by the time his ride finally showed up, but perhaps a little less than earlier. There were more questions than answers right now, of course. Sucks for me. It's out of my hands now, he decided as he stepped into the Toyota. What happens'll happen. Then I deal with it. Business as usual.
