Standing in front of the bouncer, Arissa had to note how surprisingly well things seemed to be going. At seventeen years old, she would no doubt get in quite a bit of trouble if she were to be discovered, even more so due to the fake ID the outdoor bouncer was currently holding. Oddly enough, the legal drinking age in Japan was a couple years more than Frances, but after a little reworking from a friend back in France she managed to get one made that listed her age as twenty.
Considering she had to ditch her bodyguard by stepping out of a moving car just as the light turned blue, this was by far the easiest step of the plan. It was all rather exhilarating for the young woman. So she listed off the information on the card as if she had done so a hundred times already, even taking the time to occasionally point towards the appropriate places the bouncer needed to ask her. She could barely speak Japanese, and it was clear that this poor bouncer didn't read a lick of French.
Even outside of the club, Arissa could feel the pulsing beat of the bass, as if it were coursing through her body and becoming one with her own heartbeat. The bouncer gave the young woman one last glare. It seemed the ID checked out for him, but it was Arissa herself that must have been giving off red flags. Still, other than her age, there was little child-like about Arissa.
She was dressed in a midnight-blue tube top and a matching skirt that left little to the imagination. Either that or it was her foreign features, but the bouncer handed her back her ID and allowed entry. She paid the entry fee up-front and descended down into the basement, where the pulsing techno beat shook her very core over and over again. She went through the doors and her senses were immediately overloaded.
Darkness, followed by flashing lights of all colors irradiated the other patrons before the lights faded once more and turned everyone into grooving silhouettes. The music overtook every other sound, almost immediately burrowing themselves into her eardrums. And the smell of sweat, perfume, and alcohol... the very scent of lust and life itself. Arissa's eyes began to dilate as if she were high just from the atmosphere.
Japan was such a bizarre and foreign place for Arissa. She still couldn't speak Japanese properly, and there were so many nuances and taboos that the young woman found so restricting for her. But not even taken two steps inside and she thought she could get used to a place like this.

It would seem that night that not only a seventeen year old human girl would get past the bouncer. A disguised Wizardmon and Leomon by the names of Mandrake and Lothar had managed to acquire convincing fake ID as well. What helped even more was that their disguises looked the part of human adults and the fact that Lothar towered over the bouncer in his disguise didn't hurt either. Normally such noisy clubs weren't for Mandrake but Lothar managed to talk him into it.
Entering the loud and bright club Mandrake was able to sense only humans in the club currently but wouldn't be surprised if other digimon showed up considering the night was still young. Finding a table to sit at the two friends sat down. "Are you sure you've fully recovered from your injuries, Lothar?" Mandrake said even though he had to raise his voice a bit to be heard since he wasn't sure his old friend could hear him over the ruckus around them.
"I'm sure, Mandrake, now take it easy we came hear to enjoy ourselves. I know such a place isn't where you are most comfortable but give it a chance." Lothar answered with a smile which made Mandrake feel more relaxed.

Arissa couldn't just stand around much longer. She weaved her way past a couple crowds, making her way to the bar. The bartender gave her a long stare, as if uncertain about something. Arissa supposed he probably suspected that she was younger than she was supposed to be. She always had a rather innocent, young-looking face, but the fact remained that she still managed to make her way here.
"What will it be...?" He asked in a quiet voice, perfectly understandable despite the loud atmosphere. Was it just his voice, or were the acoustics near the bar just ideal?
"Old fashioned dark n' stormy, please. You should be keeping the rest!" She answered, setting down a couple of bills. She had no idea what the prices were, but ¥5000 should cover it, right? He seemed confused for a second, then took the money and whipped up her drink in no time at all. She took pleasure in the earthy, yet incredibly sensation of sweet, spicy, bitter, and sour flavors all in one as every taste bud was activated all at once causing her tongue to ache just a bit. But it didn't stop her from taking a second sip.
Still... if all she wanted to do was drink she didn't have to come all the way out here. Between the music, the light, and scent, and the flavor of her drink, four of her senses had been appeased. So now she needed to find someone interesting and appease her favorite sensation. And a peculiar table caught her eye - a pair of foreign men, one pale-skinned man with a mustache while the other was a titanic, dark-skinned man covered head to toe in muscles.
Well, now. These certainly seemed to be the most interesting pair here. Especially since the pair didn't exactly fit in with the much younger crowd here. Still, it couldn't hurt to find out. So she walked over to their booth, sliding her tush until she was directly in contact with the massive hulk of a man.
"I hope you are having a fine evening, but I am here to make it more pleasant!" She looked up towards the massive man, then across the table towards the mustachioed man. "I am hoping that you are not minding if I sit here with you for tonight! It is not safe for a delicate girl to be all by herself, no?"

It seemed Lothar's appearance was a good way to ward off those who meant them harm. After all, in his holosuit disguise, Lothar was a six foot eight muscular man. Mandrake's disguise made him look tall but Lothar was a towering giant by comparison with muscles to boot. Then a young woman approached from behind Lothar causing the disguised Leomon to slightly jump when she spoke to them but do nothing else. After all, she was human and was little to no threat to most digimon. She then asked if she could join them claiming it was not safe for a delicate girl as she put it.
"If it's not safe for you, why would you come to such a place? No offense but you look a little young to be in here." Mandrake said as he took in the girl's appearance. By human standards, she looked in her late teens. Most the crowd here looked young but this girl took the cake by comparison.

It seemed like the large man was easily startled, as he visibly flinched from Arissa's surprise seating. She couldn't let out a devious giggle as he did so, and simply looked at him with a sly smile. "I am sorry, I did not mean to be startling you, sir, but I had to see what your muscles were like up and personally close!" Her lack of familiarity with the Japanese language was butchering her sentence structure, but the girl tried her best to have a semi-functional statement. He didn't seem to register her much afterwards. Apparently she didn't mean much to him. Well, it was Arissa's duty to change that. If there was someone in a shell, it was Arissa's sworn duty to break them out of it. "But where have my manners are going? You can call me... well, you may call me whatever you desire, but my name is Arissa!"
The other man, quite tall himself if he weren't compared to his gargantuan ally, began to speak up to Arissa, immediately beginning with the criticism. Still, it seemed more like concern for the girl. "I have come to meet interesting people, of course! And now that I have found some, I am thinking I am quite safe!" She gave a pleading stare up towards the large man as she leaned her shoulder up against his arm. "If some brute came and tried to hurt me right now, you would keep me safe, no?" She let out a rather reserved laugh before she continued.
"And I know I have the face of an innocent angel, but I can assure you that I am quite mature!" She took a down another gulp of her rum drink, letting it go down with ease. She stared across towards the man with an almost offended expression. "Could it be that... my young appearance displeases you?"

Apparently a foreigner but she was easy enough to understand despite her broken Japanese. Lothar had already settled after she had moved across from Mandrake so obviously he didn't think she was threatening either. Strange, perhaps, but that was about it. When she introduced herself as Arissa, Mandrake said "A pleasure to meet you, Arissa. I am Mandrake and next to me is my childhood friend Lothar. Don't take it personally if he doesn't speak to you right away. He usually doesn't talk to strangers at first."
She came to meet interesting people, eh? Well digimon disguised as humans were interesting by human standards that's for sure. Neither friend knew if Arissa knew what digimon were so they decided to not mention digimon through subtle glances at one another before turning their attention towards the human girl. "Yes I'm sure between Lothar and myself any brutes wouldn't be a problem." Mandrake said with a light chuckle.
"I never said you weren't mature. For all I know you could just look young for your age." Mandrake said in a calm tone as if trying to pacify Arissa not knowing if she was offended but one had to be careful sometimes.

"It is very alright!" She answered in response to Mandrake's greeting. "Lothar will talk to me soon enough! I am very good at becoming not a stranger!" She traced her hands down Lothar's arm to feel his muscles. "And these are so massive! You must have wanted to becoming a very strong man! I would say you are doing a good job!" She let her hand rest on his arm for a long second before removing it to place both hands on the table and leaning to face Mandrake.
She wasn't sure what it was about these two, but something about them just seemed... off. Which made Arissa all the more eager to find out what it was. While not even Arissa could fathom the truth just yet, she was suspecting that there was something about these pair even more fascinating than their foreign appearance. Maybe they were some kind of master thieves scoping out their next target. Arissa was incredibly rich... maybe she was the target! She would love nothing more than to be robbed by master thieves if only for the experience of it. Still, even if they weren't, they said they would protect her. "Well, I was right in thinking that you two were very nice people!" She leaned into Lothar's arm once more as if taking comfort in the strength the large man provided.
Mandrake had then tried to placate the girl. "Then we are in agreement that I look young for my age!" She replied with a wide smile. "And now that we all agree that we belong here, we are all friends now! And I must buy drinks for my new friends! What are you two having!" She leaned closer to Mandrake in an almost conspiratorial whisper. "Truth be told, the barkeeper is liking to stare at me! I can probably get you guys drinks for very low price!"

When Arissa was touching and leaning on Lothar, however briefly, he looked at Mandrake with a look that reflected how awkward this human's behavior seemed to be but otherwise didn't budge an inch. Mandrake noticing how confused his friend was said "Lothar was always stronger than the other kids ever since I met him."
As humans went this girl was a weird one indeed seeing as most humans Mandrake had met until this point had been what people would consider normal with the exception of a white haired mad scientist that is. When drinks were mentioned, Mandrake said "Lothar and myself haven't been here for longer than a couple minutes at most so drink orders hadn't come to mind yet." The two of them had spent the day making money with Mandrake performing magic and Lothar had been handling potential crowd control in case things got out of hand. Some how they made enough money to get enough money to feed and get drinks for both of them. Since Arissa was offering to pay for the drinks and not wanting to be rude, Mandrake said "Since you want to pay for them I guess anything will do." Glancing briefly at the bartender, Mandrake then asked "Did you do anything strange when you got your drink?"

Despite his brief display of discomfort Arissa was keenly aware of it. She was used to this kind of behavior, after all. "It is okay! I am just trying to let you know how grateful I am that a strong man is here to protect me tonight!" Arissa assured the muscled man. "But even if I make you a little uncomfortable, you will still give me a chance, no? I can guarantee that we will be good friends if you do!"
"That is not good! What is the point of being here when you are not gulping down beverages and dancing on the floor?" She gestured to the dance floor where a large gathering of young folk were dancing their cares away. As well as another middle-aged man who looked like he belonged in the 70's. His disco-dancing clashed with the rest of the group's movement and they parted a ways away from him to give him space, or potentially disassociate themselves from the man.
"(Hey, c'mon, baby!)" He yelled out in English, albeit in a clearly Japanese accent towards a girl dancing nearby. She gave him a nervous glance, shook her head, and resumed dancing with her friends.
But all that was besides the point! Mandrake had asked Arissa a questions, and she shook her head. "But of course not!" She replied. "I did not do anything strange to the man! But..." She stood up, gesturing towards herself. "I am very pretty, and am wearing little clothes! I am thinking that the bartender likes me!" She covered her mouth as if she had said something naughty and giggled before asking. "Do you two have any preferences for the drinks that you will be drinking? I am sure I can get them quickly!"

Lothar was finding this girl hard to figure out and had the feeling Mandrake was just as puzzled as he was but since she didn't seem to mean any harm, he nodded politely at Arissa. Since he didn't know her that was probably the most she would get out of Lothar for the moment.
When Arissa looked at the dance floor the two friends did the same and also noticed the middle aged man in the group. Compared to that guy both Mandrake and Lothar didn't stand out nearly that much. Considering the man was making the girls on the dance floor uncomfortable it was obvious why they and many others tried to avoid him like the plague.
Turning their gaze back to Arissa, Mandrake said "Nothing fancy is needed for either of us. I would like some wine." Looking at Lothar he noticed his friend nod in agreement and Mandrake continued "And the same will be fine for Lothar."

Arissa had moved out of her seat, waving at the pair as she left them to go get them drinks. Naturally, she finished her own drink before she got back to the bar. The bartender gave her a curious glance as she placed her empty glass onto the counter and leaned forward to stare at the bartender once more. "Hello again! I would be liking a refill, and a large bottle of wine, please! I am trying to impress my new friends!"
The bartender nodded and complied, and once again, Arissa put down an excessively large bill to cover the cost. "Thank you so much, you are being a wonderful bartender!" She said, blowing a kiss at the man.
"Just... be careful..." He said after a period of silence. "We don't get many people like them..." He nodded towards the pair, Mandrake and Lothar. "Or him..." He jerked his head towards the middle-aged man grooving it up on the dance floor like it was 1976. "So just watch yourself, kid."
"Oh my, you are worried about me, so you really do like me!" Arissa clapped her hands together excitedly. "I am busy making friends today, so I cannot thank you tonight, but I will promise to make it up another night!" She grabbed the bottle of wine, two glasses, and her refill, and trotted her way back to Mandrake and Lothar. Before she sat down, she realized something. Lothar wasn't going to open up to her if she continued her approach. He was comforting to be around, of course, but it was hard to get him to talk if he wasn't even looking at you.
So instead she sat right next to Mandrake, scooching her body close to him so she could look across the table over at Lothar. That way whenever he looked at his friend, he would also have to look at her! She set a glass down in front of each of them, pouring them a glass of whatever wine they preferred.
"So... you are not opening up to me if you do not know a thing about me, no?" She asked as she poured Lothar's drink. "My full name is Arissa Melodie Moreau! I was born in Greece, but I grew up in many cities all around the world! My parents are wealthy and I don't have a job yet, but I am looking for a calling that suits me!" She smiled as she finished pouring the drink. "There! You have gotten to know me a little better, so now you must answer a question, Lothar! Where did you guys grow up?"

While Arissa was getting the drinks Mandrake looked at the odd man on the dance floor while appearing confused. Picking up on his friend's confusion, Lothar followed Mandrake's gaze and asked "Mandrake, what's wrong?"
As the two made eye contact, Mandrake said "I don't know. With everyone else I can tell they're humans but I can't read that man at all. I don't know whether he's human or digimon." Mandrake looked concerned as he tried to puzzle out how his telepathy was interfered with. It was true in his holosuit disguise that if he did things more complex than sensing others and whether they were human or digimon his holosuit would be disrupted.
Lothar had to admit he was concerned too after seeing his friend looking so lost. Placing a hand on Mandrake's shoulder he said "Then for the sake of these humans we better keep alert for trouble. Subtly of course."
Mandrake was glad that Lothar was far more clever than some gave him credit for. The idea was sound and all they had to do was interact with Arissa without blowing their cover. Seemed easy enough. By the time Arissa had returned Lothar had long taken his hand off Mandrake's shoulder. Arissa was now sitting across from Lothar and next to Mandrake.
After she talked about who she was and where she was from, Mandrake said "She has a fair point, Lothar. What harm could come from talking to her?"
Mandrake had a point so Lothar said "Not much to tell about myself really. My family were traveling merchants and while we weren't rich, we made enough to get by on. So you might say that I grew up moving around like yourself. That is until my family came to the village Mandrake was living in."
"As for myself, I spent my whole life in a small village but until Lothar's family came through one summer I had no friends other than my adopted father, if you will. Lothar was the one that saved me from being beaten up by some of the villages' children. After that the two of us quickly became friends and after that summer was over Lothar's family moved on. When we were old enough we adventured around looking for one another. I also have a small knack for magic." Mandrake explained. He doubted she would ask specifically where he was from since he curiously spoke with a British accent. Which was weird since no one else in the village did.

Arissa was overjoyed when Mandrake managed to coerce Lothar to speak up. It was a shame he did not speak up of his own volition, but just the fact of speaking to her was a start! "Oh my, you have a wonderful voice, Lothar!" She praised the large man. "It is a shame you do not use it very often! I bet you could tell incredibly soothing stories if you put your mind to it!"
And as Mandrake finished the rest of the story, she simply gazed at the magician, while resting her elbow on the table. "That all is sounding spectacular!" She spoke with a bewildered tone. "I have never visited that part of Europe before, so I had hoped that one day I would get the opportunity!" She looked around before adding, "I am stuck in Japan right now because my parents thought I would be safer here than back in Paris! But when I am ready I am going to continue to travel the world and experience so many new things and meet so many more interesting people!"
Her clear blue eyes nearly sparkled as she poured her vague dreams out. She also left out the fact that she wasn't able to leave until she was eighteen, but she supposed she could let that one slip by. It's not like by leaving that information out she was harming Mandrake and sweet, sweet, Lothar.
"But I am glad that you have a good friend to protect you like Lothar!" She said, placing her hand on Mandrake's shoulder. She looked over to Lothar. "And I am glad you could be making such a good friend like Mandrake even though you traveled so much! I know... that traveling can be very lonely when you are just a child." For but a brief moment, the young woman looked somber as she remembered her childhood, but it passed just as quickly as it came. Her face brightened up as she proclaimed, "But we are all adults now, so here's to long-lasting friendships!" She raised her glass up to the center of the table, hoping the pair would clink their glasses together. She had never done a toast before, so she wanted to try one at least once.

It was true that Lothar had a gentle giant vibe to him most of the time even with his voice though Arissa was the first person to mention such. Though he wasn't so gentle if he was provoked as a certain Koromon from their childhood was quick to learn. Then Lothar said "Maybe so but I generally talk only to people I've gotten to know. It's not that I'm shy, it's more along the lines of believing trust has to be earned. You don't seem like any trouble."
Only if Arissa knew about digimon, they would have mentioned that technically they still were wondering the Digital World and occasionally coming to Shibuya. "Yes, adventuring alone can be lonely but worth it as you learn about different things through your travels. I have definitely met some interesting people in my travels before I caught up again with Lothar." Mandrake said as he thought of his previous adventures before he reunited with Lothar. In those adventures he met folks interesting as well as odd and even digivolved to Wizardmon along the way.
"It's more like we look out for each other than him protecting me." Mandrake said with a smile.
"Yes being alone as a child can be difficult but in the end meeting Mandrake was worth it." Lothar replied with a nod. It was true that by human terms they hadn't been apart for long. Technically they were younger than Arissa if digimon age was measured in that manner. Adults? Well Mandrake and Lothar were young adults by digimon standards but both of them doubted Arissa was an adult but decided to say nothing about that considering they got in with fake IDs as well. When she raised her glass indicating a toast Mandrake and Lothar clinked their glasses with hers. However, Lothar broke all three glasses and chuckled "I guess I underestimate my strength at times."

"I am glad that I do not seem like trouble, but there are many of my friend's parents that would not be agreeing with you!" Arissa replied to Lothar with a wink. "But I must be disagreeing with your trusting opinion - It is like people have to go out of your way to become your friend! I am thinking my way is better - if you trust everyone, then everyone becomes your friend until they are not!"
She listened to Mandrake talk about his time adventuring, and while she still wasn't quite sure why he used "adventuring" over "traveling", she thought she understood most of it. "But I still think your time would have been better spent traveling together with a friend. After all, that means that not only you get to meet many more interesting people, but so does your friend!"
And then came the toast. Lothar accidentally shattered the glasses, sending their drinks sploshing out on the table, the liquids pushing several small shards of glass across the table. Arissa herself let out a short yelp of pain as she felt a shard of her glass cut her hand. "Fils de pute!" She groaned as she reflexively grasped her hand and pulled away from the mess.
And in an instant the bartender appeared, sweeping up all the broken shards with the utmost proficiency, wiping down the messy table, and then holding his hand out towards Arissa. "Let me see your hand," He demanded rather forcefully.
"It... It is fine, I am thinking..." Arissa said, but complied. The bartender, a man that was maybe in his late twenties, gently grabbed her wrist to examine it properly.
"It will be fine, but we should disinfect and bandage it just to be safe," He looked around. "We have a first-aid's kit in the employee's bathroom. We don't normally allow non-personnel back there, but if it's just one person there shouldn't be a problem. I will take you there."
Arissa didn't think it was that big a deal, but nodded, thinking she could trust this bartender. But there was something that Arissa didn't know about him. Something that Mandrake and Lothar were able to sense as soon as he got close to the group.
Much like the middle-aged man grooving on the dance floor, this bartender wasn't human. And the disguised Digimon that had been staring at Arissa all evening wanted to take her to a private area all by herself.
