Makoto, first and foremost, is a charismatic social butterfly. They are friendly, sociable, and courteous to those around them, whoever the individual may be; having a habit of using affectionate pet names for people they meet and those they like. In addition to this, they have a tendency for being quite flirty with those who are closer to their age, sometimes shamelessly so; though they are mindful about backing off from those who are disinterested. They are the type one might expect to see taking it easy and chatting people up at a bar, though Makoto admittedly is not one to drink much; disliking the taste of stronger alcohols, and preferring to keep a clear head about them.
To those that they are not flirting with however, Makoto can come across as warm, kind, and perhaps even mentor-like; they've had their own ups and downs in their life, and they're more than happy to provide advice or comfort to those who are going through their own downs. They hate seeing innocent people in pain, physical, emotional, or mental; and though some may say that it's, to a certain degree, Makoto doing this in an attempt to cope with personal issues... They do, genuinely, wish to put a smile on the faces of others.
However, even that being said... Makoto is prone to a few less reputable habits. Namely, they are a bit of a thief at heart. Personal History:
Makoto is a fox who has been through a handful of lives, and - on top of such - has been around for a respectable amount of time. Though they don't always remember everything from their past lives, they nonetheless are a knowledgeable and mature digimon today as a result of this.
In their youth, Makoto was adopted into a clan of fellow fox digimon - primarily Renamon like themself - by a kind and loving Kyubimon by the name of Nezuko. The clan was very closed off, however - and they, as a result, greatly disapproved of Nezuko adopting and bringing in an outsider child without prior approval. Nezuko loved Makoto with all of her heart despite this - raising them to the best of her ability, despite her family rejecting them.
Nezuko would come to teach Makoto everything she knew - helping Makoto learn to protect themself, how to survive in the Digital World, and how to use their more unique powers. All the while though, the duo would he half-shunned by their clan - the family's disdain for Makoto no less apparent than it was when Nezuko first took the young fox in. Despite this, though... Things were happy. Makoto was perfectly content with only having their mother to depend on, because their mother was so wonderful to them! Though...
... this would all come to a stop, when Nezuko - one day - fell fatally ill, and eventually passed away.
Left without a mother, and amongst a clan who wanted them to be nothing more than a quiet and unseen child... Makoto never had a chance to properly mourn Nezuko's passing, let alone find comfort from the family that never wanted them. As a result of this, Makoto would soon decide to leave on their own; stealing as many belongings left behind by Nezuko as they could before any of the clan-members could snatch them up, and disappearing into the night.
Whilst on their own, the passing years would be a mix of wandering, stealing to get by, and getting involved with the wrong crowds. Though they held onto the kind heart that Nezuko instilled them with, Makoto was unafraid to do what they had to to live - learning to lie, steal, and cheat however they had to to get by. It was only when Makoto began to mature and reach Champion stage that they would find stability - settling down in Rosewood, and living a quiet and quaint life, occasionally stopping by a local tavern to socialize and mingle with other digimon.
With recent happenings however, Makoto would soon find a taste for adventure once more. Though they may be rusty from the passing years of quiet simplicity, it's hard to blame a fox for getting a craving for excitement, in the big open world.

Individuals who have no preference, or who are otherwise resistant to illusions and hallucinations, will instead see Makoto as their true self.

[PASSIVE] Spawn of Lust: Makoto inherently knows the trickery that a digimon of Lust can employ, and how to resist it - it takes one to know one, after all. Makoto is immune to effects that would affect their emotions (rage, pacification, fear, etc.) on top of effects relating to charming or mind control, or one's own desires.
