He was nothing more than a mere apprentice playing the part.
He was the last and only smith of his kind from an ancient and bygone era. Barely with the knowledge that some would call him a master of his trade. A master of his own fate that he spent slaving over a forge. Creating wondrous weapons or armor for angels and their kin… or for those that would brave the skies to come to his doorstep.
Just one such traveler today had dropped off an order for an exquisite blade; one that they wished to use during battle time and time again. They had paid good money, given good materials. They had asked him to take his time; to work the blade into something truly awesome.
He treated it like every other sword he worked on, every other project. He poured his heart, his soul and his core into it. Slaving away, days without rest. Weeks spent drawing up the designs under the specifications that they laid out.
But something truly strange happened when he finished the blade, when he slid it into it’s sheath. Something that hadn’t happened in a long time. Something that he felt he wasn’t ready for. Another digivolution.
But this one was powerful, far beyond the ken of his prior ilk. Far beyond what his master was capable of. Far beyond what he should have been capable of. For a moment his signal waned, only to return with a great fury upon completion of such a magnificent sword.
But the form he took was one that he didn’t recognize. One that saw the world in such different eyes; that spoke such a strange tongue that he didn’t know it himself. Though he understood his own words; the words themselves were foreign to him.
Gritting the many teeth that this form had he’d go to a mirror and growl lightly. This would be a problem if he didn’t get it under control. This form was something he could feel bleeding with power. It’d make the angels nervous; it’d make his angel probably confused if she saw him like this. He’d clack his teeth and fumble with his communicator; a one way line on tamernet to metal drive. He’d send them a single message with an image. But the words he typed were strange, the sort that would reach out and grab your eye’s attention.
They were pure digital coding; the sort of stuff that the ancients worked with. What on earth was it doing on tamernet of all things? Attached to the message was a file equally as strange; a picture of the form he was in! Along with several more lines of ‘gibberish’. And eventually just a few regular words.
I don’t know what this is or what to do. Help?

'What on earth?' was probably close to Angel's reaction when she saw that eldritch-abomination of a dragon on her D-Terminal. Fortunately for Silver, though, Metal Drive had his back.
They knew that it would be risky for him to go outside through Luminas, and based on the first message, probably difficult to figure out his own options on the device. So, rather than give any complicated instructions, Silver would see this:
Angel: Find a flying island or rock or something and stay there. We'll find you.
There would have been a number of uninhabited, rocky islands to choose from, several of which were out of view of Luminas proper. In particular, there was one - more like a big, rocky boulder with a flat top than anything else - that happened to be swinging by at the time that Silver would investigate the area. Once Silver was well away from the city, he'd sense a portal open some distance away, with both the masked Denryu and Angel, donning a shield and sword at her belt, stepping out to meet him.
Angel gave a sigh. "Please tell me he's not gonna start acting like Azulongmon too..."
"Silver. Blink twice if you can understand us." Presuming he did that much, Denryu would continue: "Two blinks for yes, three for no. Do you feel like you can de-digivolve?"

Silver nervously waited for the response from Metal drive; he wasn’t sure if someone was going to be near whatever they used to communicate with others. He’d flick his ‘ears’ forward for a moment and couldn’t help but sigh in relief as he got that message back. Though it’d be fairly difficult for him to handle the device as he was largely unfamiliar with the form’s maneuverability. It was so much more precise and it saw in so many different layers it was… almost overwhelming in a way.
Silver: All right. Heading out now.
Getting out of luminas wasn’t hard for him, this body moved far quicker than anything he had in his usual repertoire and even though he stuck to back alleys and eventually managed to slip out of the city unnoticed it didn’t leave him any less nervous.
Finding that boulder esq island that was out of view of luminas wasn’t hard; but it was the waiting that was going to kill him. The ancient_anubismon pacing to and fro; his jittery and strange movements probably didn’t help calm him down either! The mon perked it’s head and turned as it could sense that portal opening up maybe a moment or two before it actually did. Seeing angel he almost wanted to approach her in relief.
Though he’d start to speak at her the moment she stepped through the portal. Chittering in his strange language for a moment before frowning deeply realizing that even if he took it slow it wasn’t like they could understand him. Then Denryu would speak; prompting silver to pause in his ranting.
He’d blink twice at the first question and just to make sure they got it he’d do it again. The strange floating eyes snapping shut twice… then twice again. It was definitely a pattern that indicated yes he could understand him. Hearing the second question he’d blink three times and then roll his shoulders. Chittering away again and then eventually making a harumph sound of irritation.

He could understand.
He just couldn't speak with words, nor could he get down from that form. Neither Denryu nor Angel panicked at the news, Angel giving an annoyed sigh as she shifted her weight to her back foot. "Just as talkative as ever... not bad for a mega, though."
"Hm..." Denryu considered the situation. "Silver. Most likely, your body has created a form to better adapt to Azulongmon's energy. Its not 1-to-1, but your body has assumed a natural form with a much larger base size. As you are now, you would likely be able to endure Azulongmon's energy much easier. That said... you hardly seem comfortable in that form."
"So, what? His energy's just going to try and force this as his fucking default?"
"Hm. We could always try and brute force it." And with that, the General gave his suggestion: "Try shooting a high-powered electrical blast, up into the sky. See if that helps to ground out your raised energy level."

Silver gazed at the both of them easily enough; seeing angel again after so long even in this situation still made him a bit nervous. He could never really get used to the fact of seeing her; or other renamons for that matter. They were fairly common in some places that he had to travel for work…
His chittering stopped and he’d flick his ears a few times as Denryu spoke; so this form was better suited to handle and adapt to the Azulongmon’s energy. It wasn’t a one to one ratio but it was larger, stronger and faster than his prior form. He’d rub at his chin with a hand and he’d shrug. He wasn’t comfortable in it due to the fact that he had no idea what this form was capable of and he was somewhat off-balance from the strange way this form rode. Though he’d easily float off the ground just a tad to use his hands to articulate things.
He’d pause at hearing angel speak again; this being his default would probably create some issues. His signal was much stronger in it and his form was hardly suited to regular smithing… even if it did have the hands for divine work. Another flick of his ear and he’d frown at the general’s suggestion.
He had to wonder if that would call attention to their location and even if it did the others could skip out really quick.
That being said; the strange feral esq digimon wasn’t sure what it was capable of. The digimon mulled this over and naturally put it’s hands together. Kind of like before where he had charged a very powerful attack from. But this time around the digimon seemed to charge small bolts of lightning from it’s hands rather than an overly powerful one.
He’d grit his teeth and make gestures of irritation…
Up until one of the nearby floating rocks, around the same size as the one they were standing on was blasted apart by a lightning bolt that came crashing down from the sky. Silver turned his head and furrowed his brows. His form was crackling with energy still but it was very obvious that the mon had been responsible for the event. But try as he might, he wasn’t able to de-digivolve nor was he able to do it again so quickly.
He’d turn his head back to the pair and give it another shake. It wouldn’t be that simple it seemed!

Well. That was unexpected.
Angel expected the blast charged between the dragon's palms to be the source of the attack, but found herself recoiling, her fur standing on edge as a powerful blast of static shot through the air. Denryu looked up, seeing that rock shatter on impact. A powerful display to be sure...
... But a loud one. And one that didn't appear to help the situation that much.
"Hmph. Not an easy fix, then?"
"This way." Drawing his D-Terminal, Denryu would call forth another portal - this one, directly back to their underground base. Silver would be able to see that familiar, covered arena on the other side. "Better we do this than risk being found by Luminas' guard." So, once more, Silver would find himself underground due to the efforts of Metal Drive - though, this time was much more as allies, than as a method of necessity.
Silver's ability to communicate at the moment was limited to his D-Terminal, which made it quite difficult for him to reach out to anyone. Angel kept her own device on her, and for the last bit, 'talked' with him through the device... while running through his fur with a thick brush.
"You go out and become a dragon while we aren't lookin, then?" Angel rolled her eyes. "What am I even supposed to do with ya..."

Silver stared at the rock that he had blasted apart with his lightning; he wasn’t sure what he was capable of in this form. Nor was he aware of how much power was really truly at his fingertips. Before he had a grasp, albeit a small one on his ultimate’s form because he truly understood what it could do. Why wouldn’t he? He had spent a long time in it and had worked with someone unlocking it’s potential even before his rebirth.
Mega level was something far beyond his understanding; far far far beyond anything he ever considered. He hadn’t even tried to use that attack… whatever it was and whatever caveats it came with would only be learned through time.
He’d turn his head back to the General and follow through into the arena. It was better that they do this in a place that was shielded until he could learn how to control this form better. Or until he could step back into the form from before.
Silver sat there in the arena, his tail swishing this way and that. Dragging through the sand and gravel that made up the arena floor. His head sat on the ground and the many eyes were turned in just a single direction. Straight at angel.
There had been a bit more practice before the general had left the two to their own devices, silver showing just what the form was capable of in varying degrees. The dummies that they used didn’t stand a chance, being blown apart even by the weakest of attacks silver was able to manage.
Hearing her speak again the ‘dragon’ slowly worked through the terminal before sending the message to her. He was only really able to communicate through this and he kind of hated it. He liked being able to talk with people and… well. He liked being able to speak with Angel.
”It was a surprise to me. I finished crafting a blade; a very powerful one to be used by a commissioner out of another city. Then once I was done shipping it off this happened.”
He’d reach out slowly to cup her chin, dragging her attention away from his fur so he could look her in the eyes. His next question came without him even looking at his communication device.
”Does this form worry you?”

"Tch. Not even our blade did this? Probably just a coincidence then."
Angel gave a huff, but pressed on for the moment. This whole situation was frustrating, yes. But as she felt that nail drag below her chin, looking eye-to-eyes with the larger dragon, the Renamon found herself tilting her head. And, just like that... Silver's voice came back?
The Renamon shook her head at the question. "Silver, I'm wrist-deep in your fur with a brush, right after you shot those targets. I don't scare easy. Besides." Angel grinned. "You still got those hands, at least."
Silver could still smith, he could still wield a weapon, and he could still be teased by the 'sweet' fox next to him. That said? "Me aside, though, this entire deal seems to suck for you. Not being able to talk normally, can't really hold down your business in Luminas... well. You got me, if nothing else."

”I think what our blade did was fill the void that we needed. This blade… likely was the tipping point, the sliver of hay that broke the camels back as it were.”
Silver shifted a bit and looked down to the other; so it wasn’t frustrating to her that he was stuck like this. She was still brushing his fur out after he shot those targets, she didn’t scare easily and… that last bit managed to make him chuckle softly. The large dragon esq creature admitted that while this form was strange he could still do his work.
”I could… reasonably figure something out for the voice, an translator of sorts for those that I do business with. I would just need to figure out everything that goes verbally with this form.”
He’d pause after a moment, aside from her he didn’t seem to have much. He couldn’t hold his business down in luminas if he couldn’t talk. He couldn’t really do much without something like this. But there was something he might be able to do. He’d rumble a bit and would lean down, stealing a moment from the fox before working on the communicator.
”The vast amount of energy this form has is a problem; one I.. have a solution for but.”
There was the issue that he was still an apprentice. An apprentice that had vast quantities of knowledge his master did not. Truly an awesome mon that he was barely in the footsteps of. But… He knew what he could do but he’d need their help. He’d need angels help and the general’s help.
”My… master had a forge outside of luminas where he did most of his work; it required a great deal of power to run...”
The mon sighed a bit and gave a small shake of his large head.
”I had never been to the forge itself; only aware that it existed. So the actual location is unknown to me. Do you think your general could find out where it is?”

"A translator would be great. Better that than me having to look down at my wrist any time I want to talk to you."
Angel gave a frustrated sigh, but for the moment, she pressed on. It mattered little what the tipping point was - the issue was, what were they supposed to do in the moment? It was clear that this draconic form was oddly stable, considering the circumstances. With that, and a frustrated sigh, the fox would lean in her head against his as Silver leaned down.
... But he did have a potential solution. Or, at the very least, the smallest hint of one. And by the end of Silver's explanation, Angel gave a small chuckle. "You want to figure something out with so little information? You're lucky you're stuck with us, then." Angel gave a grin: "We need more detail, or at least as much as you can tell us. What did your master do? Any elemental specialties or whatnot? The more you have, the more the General will be able to figure out."

”Either that or I give you some of my data so you can understand me.”
Silver chuckled a little bit; though in this form it just sounded like chittering again. He was grateful that she was willing to work with him on this even if it had come out of nowhere after such a stable amount of time! With his form being this way all they could do is mull over the facts.
”Well it’s a potential solution I feel.”
Silver tilted his head as the other asked. What did his master do? What specialities did he have. The more they knew about his master the better. The anubian beast shifted and slowly started tapping down the information he could recal about the Vuclcanusmon.
”Well he didn’t specilize in any elements. At least not any elements that were common. He primarily focused on DIgichrome and was one of the last master’s of it. He was a smith much like I was save he could forge much more than weapons.”
Silver continued to mull this over; he did have a habit of liking very hot places. In fact they had a separate forge that silver could go to and work with his master just because of that. He’d clack his teeth and ran a hand through angels fur. Tugging her into a soft hug for a moment before giving her the space she’d like.
”He liked the heat. Extreme heat. Said it helped him think better. I used to live in one of the ruined towns out in the folder desert, it’s where he took me on as an apprentice.”
Silver wasn’t entirely sure if his master actually used forges in extreme heat or not. Or if it was just a way of him tricking folks that were listening in...
"He also hated water and electricity. Said the both were for weaklings that didn't know true power. Ironic given my state. I think he was more referencing automota than anything though..."

"That's... not a lot of information to work with, Silver." Angel sighed, crossing her arms as she mulled it over. Extreme heat? A hatred of water and electricity? A specialized use of Chrome Digizoid? "I'll see what I can do, but honestly, I don't see how the General would figure out something from such a small base..." Then again, Angel was wrong before.
It was a few hours later. Angel had explained the situation, and passed off what information she could to Denryu, not expecting it to lead to much. However, there was a few things that, in total, made it possible for him to figure a few things out.
A lack of electricity meant he needed a way to deal with the smoke.
That meant, if he hadn't been located before then, that the forge had to be somewhere where it wasn't already odd to see smoke. Further, it also meant that it had to be relatively close to a source of water.
And, preferably, it had to be close to either a trading post or somewhere near a natural source of Chrome Digizoid.
With those facts in mind, Denryu set off to work, and just a few hours later, he projected the screen from his laptop onto the back wall of a storage room, with an area highlighted on a map of the Valley of Dragons.
"The Fang's Reservoir - or one of its subsidiary streams." Denryu hovered his cursor around the area, noting the water source on the map. "The forge is most likely located in the natural caves surrounding the area. Its a mining spot for daring Gotsumon. Its largely dominated by the Vorvomon species and type, so smoke goes unnoticed in the area. And its one of the few natural spots outside of the Dark Area to find regular or even Chrome Digizoid."
"... And you're sure you're not just pulling this out of your ass? Silver even said that he was taken up in the Folder Desert-"
"The only source of smoke pollution there is from Trailmon. If he was active there, we wouldn't have to look for him at all."
"So then, are you going to go look?"
"No." To that end, Denryu looked over towards Silver. "At least, not personally. Honestly, I doubt that this would even help his condition as he is... but feel free to make a field trip of it yourself."
"Tch..." Angel shook her head. "Only interested in the math of it, again..."

”It’s as much as I learned and what he was willing to impart over time. I’m sorry.”
Silver shook his head and drummed his fingers on the ground as she said that she’d tell the general about what he had shared with the renamon. She didn’t expect much and that was okay but… She’d earn a gentle bunt from the large dragon and he’d let her go to her ‘tamer’.
Silver was stuck waiting for those few hours, laying in the arena with his many eyes closed as he thought things over. Getting a better feel for t he form here. He’d clack his teeth as he eventually heard denyru come in; they were to go to a storage room to look this over? The large dragon stared at the projection of the valley of dragons.
”This sounds reasonable enough.”
Silver stared up at the projection, one of his claws tracing the location… taking in the map and memorizing it. There was a lot here that he had to take in and with angel talking to her tamer he was left thinking. Hearing that the general wasn’t going to come with well… The dragon mulled this over.
”At worst it’ll just give us some resources to work with that are fairly rare or hard to come by. Hmph. Maybe my master might even be alive after all this time too.”
The strange anubian dragon shifted and stretched; how to go about getting there? Portals? Flying there on their own. He didn’t entirely know but silver shifted to start to leave.
”Thanks for the help General. Portal then fly most of the way there I presume?”
His eyes locked onto angel as he was mostly out of the door; he figured that she would come along and the two of them could get through this together. If she didn’t it’d be just him handling all of this. Which would give him more time to figure out this form… but if she did come along? Well. He’d have someone to talk to.
”...Though we might want to do something about our communication hmm..”

A portal seemed to be the most reasonable way to get there, especially without Silver being seen. That said, it was a matter of having someone there to use the portal.
"Hm... Angel. Accompany him as a mega. Go with 'Raider'." Denryu would raise his Xros Loader, as Angel would nod. Three spheres of data would be sent out as Denryu clicked the chips into place, sinking into Angel's frame. Unlike the 'Duelist' forms that Angel had been using before, this form was much more direct in its power.
A scimitar held in her right hand, a buckler at the back of her left arm? With the armor adorning her shoulders and the jetpack strapped to her back, she looked more like a space pirate than any sort of fencer! Blade sheathed at her side, she'd catch Denryu's D-Terminal in her hand, and punch in the coordinates for the portal.
"At this point, if you have a way to fix the problem, go for it. General's not gonna want to leave 'four' of his partners out for long..." Whether or not the two of them would sort that out, it wouldn't take long for the two to step out through the portal, and end up in the rocky highlands of Dragon Valley. It was just as Denryu said: unbearably hot, the scent of smoke constantly in the air, and the sounds of dragons in the area a constant ambience. At the very least, Silver looked the part.
Angel, meanwhile, took to the edge of the cliff, to scout the area. They were right next to the river that Denryu mentioned: a crystal clear stream, surrounded by igneous rocks and burnt surroundings from such a dense fire-dragon population.
"Hmph... cave systems near here, then? Would have to be something with a makeshift chimney..."

Silver mulled over a few facts of what they had just gone over; the location of the forge wasn’t paramount to anything but reducing him back down a level so if it was largely unsuccessful the two of them would just have to go with it. The anubian dragon g lanced at the general as he spoke. So he was brining along a few others? That made sense. He’d flick his ears as hearing that he should just go for it if he had a solution.
Without hesitation there was a little strange strand of data that he’d simply pull from his frame. It was jittery and electrical in nature; he’d pass it to ‘raider’ and gesture for them to load it. If they did? Well the chittering would be actual words this time around.
”Should spread out between everyone in that form too… I had a thought that I’d just offer whatever translation data was in my system and guess It worked?”
Silver shrugged a bit and well… once sorted? He’d step through the portal…
And into a locale he had never been to, his multiple sets of eyes looking every which way and he’d consider the area they had stepped in. The crystal clear stream was his focus and the dragon would sniff at the air. The charred remains of many battles came to his nostrils but…
”I smell it. The passion and art of his smoke.”
Unlike the destruction and constant fighting this type of smoke was different. It was richer, full of more minerals. It would no doubt lead him to where they needed to go. The dragon growled and started to head towards where he was smelling this smoke…
It’d eventually lead them to a cave entrance, where the scent was a lot stronger and had a regular billow of smoke coming out from the top of it. A few rookie dragons were nearby but they gave the two a wide berth. Given how the both of them were mega anything less than them would just be childs play.
”This is it. It has to be. If it’s not I’m a gabumon’s uncle.”
The dragon didn’t think twice about stepping into the cave; it was sizeable and after a bit of trekking? The two would eventually come to smoothed rock that transformed into well cultivated stone that had been placed down… a huge stylized metal door made of digichrome that was smoking and hot red.The large dragon would have touched it but…
”It looks to be super hot. Maybe from the smoke? Angel?”
