She wasn't here.
That is what the Lobomon, Saibot, at this "Caritas" Vetina told them about told them. That this Ghost character wasn't here. She was off somewhere and would be back later. The Lobomon seemed nice enough, having given them little trouble, even before he was told that Vetina sent them for important business. However, with the knowledge of them being sent by Vetina, Saibot invited them in to wait for her. Sanoske had declined, feeling that neither himself nor his companion Crystal could comfortably wait in such an area. Not at the fault of the location, but their general feelings at the moment.
And now, here they were, on the beach. It was mid evening, and the sun was setting off in the distance. There were only a few others on the beach, but Sanoske took Crystal to a more secluded area. He could hardly gauge how bad Crystal felt. Who knows what that Hylden was doing with Pure at this very moment. The Gazimon couldn't help but to feel he was partially at fault. If only he would have went sooner, he believed he could have prevented this.
But he had to remain strong for Crystal. She would lose more than he would if Sanoske gave up. Wondering how he could ease her mind, if only a bit, he sat in the sand and looked around, hoping for simething to talk about.
"[The sunset... looks pretty nice, I guess...]" He sounded a bit...cautious. He hoped this wouldn't cause any unnecessary anguish to the already hurt Lopmon.

Crystal's head hung low on her head as they waited at the beach. While it was a beautiful area to be in, it didn't do much to help Crystal's mood. The usually happy-go-lucky Lopmon had been very quiet when they left the forest, having Sanoske do the talking when she could. Her thoughts were stuck on her brother, and what could be happening with him. She never knew how much she could miss that coward of a brother she had until now.
She looked up when Sanoske had commented on the sunset. "Yeah, I guess it is..." She said halfheartedly as her head dropped again. She appreciated what Sanoske was trying to do, really she did, and usually she would enjoy the scenery in front of her. Yet right now, her thoughts were muddled and full of grief.
The only sense of relief she had was the Gazimon right next to her. Without him, she didn't knew what she would of done. He was such a big help, even when he didn't like Pure all that much. If not for him, she was certain she would have never made it to Whitewater, not in her current condition at least. To be completely honest, she has had a very sick feeling ever since they had left the forest that's seems to have been sapping her strength. She hadn't told Sanoske yet because she didn't want to worry him any more. Especially as she passed it up as her just being stressed.
"Sanoske... Do you think... We'll actually be able to help him?" She asked the Gazimon as she move to lean against him. It wasn't the first time she asked this question, and it was unlikely to be the last. She just needed Sonoske's reassurance that everything will be alright.

As Crystal leaned towards him, he laid one of his hands on her ear (well, her side, but her ears were quite large), gently pressing her against him. She asked him if they would be able to help him. Sanoske understood enough of her position to be unfazed by being asked this question over and over. Once more he thought about his feelings toward Pure, knowing that despite how him and Sanoske acted towards each other, Pure and Crystal needed each other. It was this fact that made the little coward a bit more tolerable to the Gazimon.
"[We'll get Pure back, Crystal. This mess will be taken care of, and he'll be back with us.]"
With us, he said. But it was true. He wanted Pure back as well. Not for Crystal's sake alone, but for his. He was beginning to trust Sanoske and... perhaps Sanoske wanted that trust to grow.
Off in the distance was an incoming brown Impmon, walking towards them. She would not be immediently seen, but a simple head turn would spot the digimon. On her back was a bag with papers sticking out from the top. She was humming something to herself, and her demeanor lead Sanoske to believe she was merely someone checking on them.
"Heeeey guys! Why so gloom? Nice beach, great sunset... the best thing for a couple of love birds like you" This Impmon had a weird reverb to her voice. It was... unnatural, and a bit unnerving towards the Gazi-"[Love Birds? Huh?]"
"Yeah, Love Birds! Come on, I'd hate to see a couple so melancholy!"
Sanoske stared at the digimon with a confused look on his face.
"[Huh... I was thinking she somehow understood me, Crystal...]"
"Why wouldn't I understand you? Or is that a thing you deal with on a usual basis?"

She softly pressed her head against Sanoske side as he told her that they would get Pure back. It was comforting for her to hear him say that again. And it was also comforting for her to lean against Sanoske side. So she stayed there for a while as she watched the sun set in the distance. It was a beautiful sunset...
Crystal then heard someone she didn't knew speak to them. While Crystal didn't pay much attention to what was being said, she did notice two words being passed back and forth between Sanoske and the Impmon. Love birds. Was that how Sanoske and her look to the others? She lightly blushed as she heard Sanoske ask tell her that the Impmon seemed to understand her.
"Do Impmon's not usually understand you?" Crystal asked with dull curiosity.

The Impmon tilted her head curiously as Sanoske wondered why she could understand him. Crystal also asked about this development and he answered openly, to the both of them. "[The only digimon who can understand me like this should be animal type digimon...]"
"I have animaloid forms other than this... does that help?"
"[N-no... it's usually form specific. It's just how my...'speech' works.]"
"Oh. OK."
The Impmon took out a paper and handed it to Sanoske. "Anyway, there's this cool band playing down at Caritas in 2 weeks! They're new talent and they would really love the publicity, so I'm handing out flyers! Anyway, cheer up!" And there she went. Sanoske looked at the flyer with curiosity when, due to the sudden entrance and exit of this advertising Impmon, it took him a few moments to put 2+2 together.
Caritas... and didn't Vetina mention an Impmon of some sort?
He turned to her and called out to her, in a tone that tried to repress some of his own excitement from showing. It almost worked. "[You're... you're Ghost, aren't you? Ghost the...]"
"Yeah, Ghost the HyldenImpmon! What, am I famous or something?"

So it seemed that this Impmon is able to understand Sanoske even though normally she wouldn't. Well Crystal guessed that was kindof interesting. What made this Impmon so unique that she could understand even though she wasn't an animal like digimon? Well that was probably something to figure out once they find a way to rescue Pure.
Then Crystal heard the best news she had since they lost Pure. "Wait... Caritas. Ghost. Hyldenimpmon." She said as he eyes widen and she quickly stood up, "You wouldn't happen to know someone by the name of Vetina, do you?" She asked the impmon in hopes that she would turn out to be the digimon that Vetina had told them about.

"Hmmm?" Ghost hummed, her attention and curiosity fully piqued. These two were looking for her? Usually it was Beverly someone wanted, and not her. "Yeah, I know that kooky Palmon-ish gal. Well, kinda. I mostly know of her through my Mistress. What of it?"
Sanoske looked at Crystal, a smile forming on his maw as he knew that they found the one they were looking for. But he had to push aside his giddiness and composed himself. "[We were sent by Vetina. We... we need your help, Ghost. Vetina also knows of our problem and sent us to get your help specifically. She said you would help us.]"
Ghost was in an awkward situation. What was Vetina doing sending digimon to her and saying she would help? But... she would give Vetina the benefit of the doubt. Vetina may have been a weirdo, but she wouldn't just... send digimon over to Ghost specifically. Unless this was some sort of trick. Then again, this would be a rather roundabout way to get to Ghost. So, yeah... "Okay... so Vetina sent you here... why didn't she come here herself?"
"[She was... unable to come. Besides, this problem effects us as well... especially my friend here.]"
"Okay... not to be rude... but why should I help you? I mean... my Mistress could clear things up..."
"[It involves a digimon who referred to himself as a Hylden...]"
Ghost's demeanor went from confused to concerned, her hidden brow furrowed under her hood. Indeed, Sanoske knew that this was a subject Ghost was familiar with, although not like what he'd imagine. For now, Ghost looked at Crystal, who did look more affected by this incident this winged Gazimon spoke of. "Crystal, right? I'm all ears..."

As Sanoske and Ghost talked, Crystal began getting worried. It seemed for a good while there that Ghost may decide not to help them. Crystal hoped that something they would say would catch the impmons attention. Fortunately, once Sanoske had mentioned the Hylden, she wanted to hear what exactly Crystal had to say.
Crystal paused for a moment as she tried to think of the words to explain her situation. "Well... I know this might be hard to believe, but my brother has been possessed by some strange digimon. We don't know where he is now or what condition he is in." She said getting right straight to the point, "Vetina told us that he mentioned something about the Hylden and that we should talk to you as you might know something about it. So here we are now, hoping that you may have the answers we need." Crystal said, trying her best not to outright beg Ghost for her help.

Ghost listened to Crystal and, to herself, already decided to help the two to the best of her ability. She already had one friend affected by a Hylden, and nearly lost Beverly. Of course, the wouldn't be the same Hylden Bev faced. His data was now a part of herself. But another one running about and potentially doing the same thing had ticked her off.
"Hard to believe? I possess other digimon for kicks. But even then I don't do anything with them... and I ask... usually. Look, trust me, I'm on the level.
As for info... I'm sorry, I cannot give much. I might be a HyldenImpmon, but I'm not exactly a Hylden digimon. You see, my Mistress and her mate were attacked by a powerful Hylden. My Mistress... she did defeat him, and I got his data. " As this was no time to get too deeply into all that happened, she only told a small part of the story, leaving out Beverly destroying herself to kill the Hylden as he went from Garm's body into hers. "I do know, however, that the Hylden were digimon trapped in some sort of... sub area of the digital world. Almost like another dimension. As far as I know, they cannot last long here and need the bodies of normal digimon.
I'm assuming you saw your friend possessed?"
Sanoske nodded. "[Yes... we did. We didn't know at the time, though, and he slipped past us.]"
"Well... I know that a Hylden possession can mutate a digimon's body. I've seen it. And I know I could too. But only if I assert my will onto the host. If I treat the host gently and not 'fight' against his or her will, they will remain normal. But I don't know if that applies to the Hylden you've saw. And since he looked normal when you saw him, I'm certain he hasn't been changed.
I won't let what happened to my Mistress and friend happen to you two. If you'll have me, I'll come with you." There was a rarely heard conviction in her tone. But Ghost remembers all the emotional strife the Hylden caused. Despite being the one who allowed Beverly to "revive" the way she did, watching her Mistress, her very creator die in front of her to save Garm was a moment she never wanted to see again.
Sanoske looked to Crystal. Would she allow Ghost to come along?

Crystal was astonished that Ghost was not only willing to help them, but also willing to travel with them. "Thank you Ghost. We would be more then happy to have you come along with us. I mean, as long as Sanoske has no problem with that." She said turning towards Sanoske to hear his opinion on the manner. "Though if I may ask, how do you plan on helping Pure?" Crystal asked Ghost out of curiosity. Did she even have a plan? And if she did, was it possible that it would end up harming Pure?

Sanoske nodded, agreeing to let Ghost tag along. "[We would very much appreciate your help, Ghost. Thank you.]" Crystal then brought into question what plans Ghost may have towards freeing Pure.
She gave a weak, but not at all dismissive shrug. "Plans? Uh... I don't have any plans. I never even seen your brother or know how strong the Hylden is that's controlling him. This won't be the best answer to you but... I'll have to wing it until I get more info. Sorry. I'll try my best, though!"
Sanoske sighed. Well, it was at least another ally to aid them in helping Pure, and at this moment was probably the most capable of doing so.
"So, where to, guys?"

Crystal sighed in unison with Sanoske. Well, she guessed it was just wishful thinking that Ghost would have a plan already. Oh well... They will figure something out when the time comes. Now to figure out how they were going to find Pure.
"I don't really know. The last place we saw him was back in the Server Woods, but I highly doubt he would still be there now." She said as she thought for a moment. If only she was able to locate him with her mind or something like that. Something that Ghost had mentioned earlier then hit her.
"Hey Ghost. This has nothing about where we're going, but you mentioned that people you control will mutate unless they don't fight you. So does that mean that if the Hylden who is taking control of Pure's body is using the same method you to possess Pure like you do, that Pure has willingly given his body up to him?" She asked Ghost as the gears in her mind start unraveling what could possibly going on.

"Well, Server Woods is still a start." Ghost also figured that, most likely, Crystal's brother was a Terriermon. For all intents and purposes, unless he could digivolve, he wouldn't be able to travel too far, compared to someone like Sanoske or Ghost. But it was wishful thinking.
Ghost expected it, but Crys also had concerns over possible mutations caused onto Pure. However, the Impmon shook her head. "That's not quite how it works. The host can struggle all they want. It's only until the Hylden assert their own will and control that the mutations start. It's... umm... it's like a houseguest who you let stay and at first they seem cool and all, but when they start going against rules and get too comfortable and start doing things their way everything gets messy.
I've seen it happen, and it's a fairly quick process. If he still looked the same when you last saw him, it doesn't mean Pure has given up. It just means whoever is possessing him is most likely keeping him normal. When I do that I'll still lose control unless someone lets me possess them, but Pure might resurface every now and then. I have the data of a powerful Hylden in me, and someone who's fighting me for control can still take it from me.
I hope that helps a bit."

After hearing what Ghost had just said, Crystal began rubbed her forehead as she tried to understand what exactly Ghost had just said. "I don't really know. To tell the truth, it more confused me more then it actually helped. So just give me a second to see if I can get this straight." She said as before she began pacing back and forth on the beach.
"The Hylden asserting his control and will on the possessed is what causes the mutations, not the other way around. So in order to prevent such a thing from happening, the Hylden becomes at risk of the host taking his body back. IF that's the case however, why would the Hylden take such a risk in order to not have the body of his host to change? Could it have just been to trick us into helping him, or is there perhaps another reason? And if it is the former then that means... Pure's most likely... Ugh..." Crystal growled in frustration as she tried her best to forcibly wrap her guilt ridden head around this and not think about the what her brother's fate might be.
"No no. I can't think like that. There has to be a better reason why that prick who stole my brother didn't assert his will on him. I know Pure. He would struggle for control the best he can. It wouldn't matter to him what happens to his body as long as there's a chance for him to get it back. So perhaps that means that Hylden has something over him. Something to keep him from struggling so that prick could keep control without accidentally mutating the body." Crystal's eyes widen as she realized something. She then quickly shook her head to get the thought out of her head as she looked over at the other two.
"Sorry about that. Uhh... So from what I'm hearing, we should probably go back to the Server Woods first then. Huh?" She said before she realize something else, "But before we head off, shouldn't you tell someone at the Caritas that your going to be away for awhile? I don't want you to get in trouble with your boss because you decided to help two complete strangers with their troubles." While Crystal wanted to just rush off to save Pure, she knew that it would serve no purpose right now. Besides, the last thing she wanted was the person who just offered them help to get in trouble because of them.

Sanoske silently watched Crystal try to wrap her head around everything she was told, carefully paying attention to ensure he could figure things out as well. Even Ghost knew that something didn't quite add up, and that there technically is no reason why the Hylden would use kid gloves on Pure. But without all the facts all they had were more questions.
"Gosh, I feel a bit guilty now considering this is personal experience, but even if Pure got control back, the Hylden could easily get it back if the host is not in a good mental state. Sleeping, tired, distracted... maybe he needs an incognito body. My friend who was affected stands out because of his changes."
Crystal apologized and agreed to head back to Server Woods. But first...
"My Mistress already knows. I've been talking to her mentally for some time. Psychic link and all. But I've told her I could handle things. All I'll need to do is return my bag and we can get right to the chase!"
