It was the first day of the fall trimester at Shibuya Academy. It seemed like a lot of crazy things had happened this year for the trimester to come this quickly. After the homeroom had finished up, it was time for the first class of the day. This specific class we will be looking at is the first class for the class of 2-A, World Literature, taking place on the second floor of the school.
There were a few minutes left before the start of the class. With his bookbag in hand, the messy-haired teen Johan would walk in, not paying much attention to anyone he walked by before taking his seat. Johan loved school and learning, but literature was not exactly his strongsuit. He's more into the practical ways of learning like algebra or anything involving computer software. Still, that didn't mean he was going to slack off.
Now as a secret agent for the organization AEGIS, Johan had to keep his Digivice and D-Terminal with him in case of an emergency. His D-Terminal was in his bookbag so it could probably be mistaken for a laptop, and his Digivice was in a secure holder built into his bionic left arm, which was of course covered by a leather glove, so he could just pretend that his watch alarm was going off if need be.
With nothing better to do until the teacher got here, since he had his homework completed, Johan decided to browse the internet on his smartphone. From there he would find plenty of interesting stories that almost definitely had Digimon involved.
Amazing how the general public hasn't figured out what's going on quite yet.

Hiroshi and Leroy were making there way through the halls heading to their first class of the day. Hopefully Leroy wouldn't lose his cool like his first day where he got a detention from throwing an eraser at a kid that teased him. Hiroshi knew his twin well so he kept a close eye on him as they made their way to literature class. Despite being an impulsive hothead, Leroy did decently in this subject while Hiroshi was average in most subjects being strongest in music. Since Leroy's singing frightened babies human and digimon alike the furry Shoutmon took one of the art classes instead but Hiroshi couldn't remember which one. It was also odd that the two of them shared most of their classes and maybe lucky as well.
Soon the two of them in their disguised form of human teenagers, Hiroshi taking on the appearance of a nerdy blond and Leroy taking on a more thug like appearance with fiery red hair, entered the classroom and sat down somewhere in the middle of the room. Hiroshi sat next to his twin in order to keep an eye on his chaotic brother.

The reason Dylan rushed to a seat was twofold: one, he was afraid he'd be late, and that was absolutely not what he needed today - not when he made it to the building only by the skin of his teeth (and that because of misreading a bus schedule). The other reason was that he wanted a seat solidly in the middle-back area, preferably off-center. It was the ideal spot for minimal teacher visibility, which would mean he'd get called on or ignored at his own pleasure and yet wasn't so far back as to be disconnected if he wanted to pay attention for once.
I actually used to think school uniforms were a good idea until I had to wear one, he thought as he tugged a bit on the tie that was too tight for him. It had been bugging him all morning, but he dared not adjust it; if it came undone, he was absolutely not going to get it back on for himself. He needed his father's help just to get it how it was, having not mastered the art of a tie quite yet. Looking down made him have to use one hand to brush some of his long, curly brown hair out of his bespeckled face, but it was a look he wasn't ready to give up no matter how many adults told him so. The tie was a tie - it could come off when he was home. The hair was a hill on which the stubborn metalhead was prepared to die. That red hair across the way was very eye-catching itself, however. Maybe Dad was freaking out about the haircut after all if they let stuff like that go. Or he was right, and I'll point him out if anyone starts with me. It wasn't like Dylan had anyone to chat with either, so he resorted to entertaining himself with electronics as well. Normally he might browse headlines or listen to music, but there was something simplistically charming about the other device he had on him. As far as he could tell, it wasn't good for anything but some simple games like Tetris, but something mind-numbing and time-killing was what he was after right about then. The function also served to distract the boy from the, er, extraordinary circumstances in which he'd obtained it.
Dylan has activated the Game App. -Game App: Sure, you're in a sprawling world of magical adventure and excitement, with new sights around every corner. But what if you get bored? Now, through the power of installing Tetris and Minesweeper onto your Digivice, you'll never have to worry about that for at least another 5 minutes. Not for Digimon usage.

Three others in particular stood out as they walked into that very same class. The first two to stand out where a pair of brothers that looked like one person that had taken "before" and "after" pictures. The before looked like a pretty nerdy blonde kid, probably along Johan's level of nerdiness. The after looked like if that same kid went to prison for a year or two, with fiery red hair and a thug-like appearance. Johan had a very bad feeling about the red haired one. I hope that guy doesn't interrupt the class too much.
The third kid to stand out was a foreigner as well, just like the two brothers. While one of them had fiery red hair, this one had an absurdly high amount of hair. So much so that Johan actually had to do a double take when he walked in. Sure, Johan wasn't exactly one to talk, but at least his hair wasn't breaking the dress code like this kid's was. He'd politely mention it to him if the two got a chance to speak. Oh right, I should probably get a haircut after school... at least he reminded me of that.
After a couple more minutes of silence, the teacher would walk in. He was a young adult male with black messy hair, blue eyes and glasses, and he had a calming vibe to him. He walked in wearing the typical attire, white button down shirt with black suit pants and dress shoes, completing the look with a dark brown scholarly jacket. He set some papers down on his desk before speaking. "Alright, alright, settle down class," The man would say despite the fact that everyone in class was already silent and well behaved, at least so far. "I'm Sparkwood-sensei, and as you can probably tell I am not native to Japan, although I do have some Japanese ancestory. I actually moved here from London, as I have always been fascinated with this country. Anyways, enough about myself for right now. Welcome to World Literature, one of my favorite subjects as a youngling. To start off, I thought we'd take a very basic 'get-to-know-you' quiz. I'll hand a slip out to everyone and you'll fill out the questions. Don't worry, they are easy questions, about yourself. You will have ten minutes."
The teacher would then walk around and hand a paper to each student. The questions on them would be standard stuff like "What's your favorite book?" or "Do you have pets at home?" and other questions of that nature. English versions were also prepared for the foreign students, in case they wanted them.

Not much else happened aside from a human with lots of hair entering and sitting down which caused both brothers to stare at the hair in amazement. Usually humans didn't have hair quite like that so the brothers almost missed the teacher's entrance. Leroy subtly sniffing the air caught Hiroshi's attention. Now the disguised furry Shoutmon's gaze was on the teacher as if trying to figure him out. With that Hiroshi didn't have to ask what his twin smelled. Apparently the teacher was a digimon in disguise much like themselves but as long as the disguised digimon remained non violent things should be fine in theory.
The only thing one could never predict was Leroy though said brother of his was working on the paper handed to him. Leroy wrote down the name of his favorite book 'The Outsiders' and continued from their. Hiroshi wasn't surprised by his twin's choice in books since, despite lacking in battle smarts, the furry Shoutmon had good tastes in books. Hiroshi's favorite was 'The Incredible Journey' though he never knew why. Both brothers also mentioned that they had no pets though Hiroshi was tempted to put Leroy's name for the question but was able to restrain himself. Then they went about answering the rest of the seemingly mundane paper. Just what was the teacher getting at with this?

Some things never changed. One was get-to-know-you exercises, for which Dylan thought he was too old but certainly ungrateful. Time spent on thinking about his favorite song wasn't spent on trying to read this stuff that'd probably be boring even if the boy understood it. He was a bit embarrassed to ask for the English version of the paper in a low voice. Hmm. He wrote in "Hammer Smashed Face" not because it was true but because it was too hard to pick one, and it sounded funny. Favorite book? That one he answered honestly. ''Dragon Rider' by Cornelia Funke. Total nobody becomes a total somebody in one day because of an encounter with a dragon. The characters think it was fated, but there's insufficient evidence of that. I still think it could've been anyone - or no one.
It was at this point that he thought back to that night three weeks ago, but he'd learned to flush that from his mind by now with a shake of the head. He hadn't seen that dragon since, and a rational mind might have concluded now that the whole thing was just a very realistic dream - except for that gaming machine whose existence he couldn't explain. When he looked up from his little survey he caught the eye of a few other students at once: some blond kid, that redhead he walked in with, and some other guy who like Dylan was visibly not a local. International schools. Gotta love 'em. Dylan regarded them all back with a bit of suspicion, wondering, Why is everyone looking at me?

Most of the questions on the quiz were pretty easy, except for one: "What is your favorite book?" While Johan did enjoy reading from time to time, he was more of a computer geek than a bookworm, so he never really had time for reading. He tried thinking back to different books he read, but nothing was coming to mind. Slightly panicking as the time to turn it in was growing closer, he simply wrote down "The Enemy," a book he read back in sixth grade despite not remembering it well.
"Alright, time's up," Sparkwood-sensei would announce after the ten minutes were up. As he walked down the rows collecting the papers, he placed a hair tie on Dylan's desk as he collected the student's paper. "It's either that or a haircut," he would whisper to the foreigner student before simply moving on to collect the next student's paper.
The teacher definitely noticed that the twins were Digimon, just like they could probably tell that Weston was one. The teacher wouldn't react to that now however, perhaps when he and the twins had a better relationship maybe?
"Alright, thank you for your quizzes, everyone," Sparkwood-sensei would say as he arrived back at his desk. "And like I said earlier, welcome to World Literature. This was one of my favorite subjects in school, as we not only read and discussed classic pieces of literature from around the world, but a lot of writing will also be involved. I do not know how other teachers will be doing it, but I know there are plenty of you who are not native Japanese speakers, let alone writers. So while I will be encouraging the use of Japanese writing, just inform me whenever we start writing assignments if you would prefer to write in your own native language."
Afterwards, the class seemed to just go on like normal. Sparkwood-sensei was now just going over the basic rules, such as no talking in class, no electronic use in class (Johan would have to break this one multiple times in the future), no roughhousing in class, all that fun stuff. While before he seemed like a really nice guy, NOW he sounded like he was truly putting his foot down when it came to behaving in class. Made Johan scared to see what he'd do to a delinquent that attempted to rebel...

The twins observation went from the boy with lots of hair to their digimon teacher. Judging by how close he got to them he likely knew they were digimon as well. Hiroshi glanced over at Leroy noticing his twin was playing around with his pencil so whether he was listening to the teacher's discussion of the rules or not was dubious at best but as long as that pencil had his attention they both had a chance at avoiding trouble. 'So far so good. Please behave, Leroy.' Hiroshi thought knowing Leroy's pencil wouldn't occupy his impulsive brother forever so he took what good behavior he could get.
Who knows? Maybe Leroy would surprise him and not act like the hoodlum his disguise interpreted him to be. Leroy was smart after all but with his behavior issues brought on mostly by his impulsiveness, one would hardly be able to tell. At least Hiroshi was okay at literature himself but he had a full day ahead of him. Luckily for the school, Hiroshi seemed to share most of his classes with his twin.

Dylan tended to form his opinions of teachers pretty quick, but this 'Sparkwood-sensi' was a real mixed bag in the boy's opinion. On one hand he internally rebelled against anything against his hair, so when the hair tie got passed to him he pocketed it and forgot about it. Yeah, right. On the other hand, he was being way more accommodating of his (lack of) Japanese proficiency than Dylan thought he was really entitled to or even deserved. Of course he was going to try his best with the local language when he could, but if the writing got too complicated he intended to ask for an exception. Well that's nice, at least.
Overall, a mostly unremarkable class. Rules. Expectations. Introductions. Almost all of it seemed like reasonable stuff. Dylan expected to bury himself in his smartphone somewhere down the line, but that was why he'd chosen the seat he did, after all.

At precisely 9 AM, a peculiar phenomenon would occur on the second story bathrooms of Shibuya Academy, as a Digital Shift was in the midst of being created. Digivices in the area would definitely sense it and start to beep, and disguised Digimon would definitely suddenly feel an insane sudden surge of energy. But nothing would happen... at least, not at that moment. While Sparkwood-sensei was discussing the kinds of books they would be reading in class or what kind of assignments they had to look forward to, the Digivice being held in Johan's bionic arm would start to beep. Not loudly enough to be heard by the class, but beeping nonetheless.
What the hell...? Johan wondered as he rolled up his sleeve and took off his glove somewhat, seeing that his Digivice was indeed going crazy. Was there a new Digimon that just appeared? What could be the reason that it was going off like this? Looking up to make sure no one was watching him, Johan slowly pulled out his D-Terminal to message another agent that was also at the school, Tadayoshi.
[AEGIS_Johan: Tadayoshi, my Digivice is going off like crazy. Is yours doing the same?]
Meanwhile, Sparkwood-sensei could definitely feel something as well. While it was an intense sensation, he couldn't let it affect him, and he continued to teach the class like normal. The beeping of Digivices weren't going to stop anytime soon though... what was going on?

Suddenly a curious sound caught Hiroshi's attention causing the disguised Cutemon to turn in the direction of the digivices in the room. Something was causing them to go off, while not loudly, he could still hear them with his sensitive hearing. What was strange was the fact that Leroy was getting fidgety as if feeling a surge of energy and it seemed Hiroshi felt it too. Hiroshi didn't fidget though and as he looked at his twin it seemed his furry Shoutmon of a brother was feeling more restless than normal. It was like a kid that had too much sugar though Leroy was trying his best to listen to the teacher as if trying to use it to divert his attention from the energy surge. Hiroshi knew his twin well though and knew it was a matter of time before Leroy's excessive energy became to much of a distraction for everyone.

The reply Johan received was swift.
AEGIS_Tadayoshi: Yes. Something is happening.
AEGIS_Dakota: we can be there in 10 if we gotta
AEGIS_Tadayoshi: I don't know yet. Meanwhile, that awkward American kid near the back of the class was making the same incessant beeping noise Johan was. The difference was that he thought nothing magical was going on. With haste he reached for the dumb little game machine and started pushing every button he could. It didn't help. Dylan went on to try holding several buttons, then all of them to no avail. At this point there was no point pretending nothing was happening, so he spoke aloud, "S-sumimasen," and stood up. "Excuse me, I need to use the bathroom," was a phrase he was able to say in Japanese just fine.
Dylan didn't really expect to convince anyone with that. It was just a polite excuse. He thought that right about now he needed to be as polite as possible with this teacher because he didn't need to get any further into his bad side. Not knowing what the machine really was, Dylan thoughtlessly carried it out in the open as he exited into the hallway, continuing to fumble with the buttons until one of them finally shut the thing up!

Something suspicious was definitely going on when one of the foreign kids, the one with the really long hair, suddenly excused himself and left the classroom in a hurry. Thanks to his feeling, Sparkwood-sensei didn't think this was a good idea for him to do. "Loon-san, I don't think that-" But it was too late, as Dylan had already left the classroom.
"I need to go to the bathroom as well," Johan said as he got up from his seat as well, leaving the classroom.
"Walker-san, I request that you return to you- and no one's listening to me apparently. NO ONE ELSE is allowed to leave the classroom at this time," Sparkwood-sensei would announce to the class. Hopefully those two boys wouldn't get into any trouble... or danger. In the hallway near the second floor bathrooms, Johan managed to catch up with Dylan. "Loon-san, right? Listen, we should probably go back to the classroom, something odd is-" The student cut himself off when he noticed the device in Dylan's hand. "You're a Tamer, aren't you? Of Digimon? I know a Digivice when I see it. I'm a Tamer as well, and-"
Johan was cut off once again when loud banging sounds started coming from within the bathroom on the closed bathroom door. There were also sounds of maniacal laughing as well. That door looked like it was about to give. "We might need to run..."
CRASH!
The door flung off of its hinges, and a swarm of green slime beings with snail-like eyes flooded out of the bathroom and distributed down the hallways. "BACK TO THE CLASSROOM!" Johan yelled as he booked it in the opposite direction back to where he came from. Once Johan (and hopefully Dylan) got back to their classroom, Johan would slam the door and lock it.
"And what is the meaning of this?!" Sparkwood-sensei would angrily demand, as his lesson was definitely interrupted.
"Keep that door locked," Johan would also demand once there were banging sounds coming from outside the classroom. He would then rush back to his desk and get his D-Terminal out again.
[AEGIS_Johan: THE SCHOOL IS OVERRUN BY NUMEMON! I REPEAT, THE SCHOOL IS OVERRUN BY NUMEMON!]

The humans had bolted from the classroom though Sparkwood-Sensei would be ignored when he tried to keep them from leaving. As for Leroy, he was no longer fidgeting but had stood up and began pacing near the desks. 'At least he's not running out himself but I don't think he'll be contained long. He seems to be getting the battle itch and that in itself could be bad.' Hiroshi thought as held up his hand politely and asked "Sparkwood-Sensei, can I talk to you privately?" Maybe he would get the teacher that he knew was a digimon in disguise to talk to him.
Seems like Leroy could no longer be contained as he dashed for the door and disappeared from the classroom. Hiroshi watched and, just as he was about to get up, Leroy returned to the classroom holding his nose with what seemed to be Johan right behind moments later. Whether Dylan would return or not was unknown as Leroy opened his mouth and said "I think the hallways have a small infestation and boy do they stink."

Embarrassed as the boy was, he was reluctant to make eye contact with the teacher or any of his students on his way out. It wasn't until that other boy called on him - by name, no less - that he stopped and looked up from his darn machine! His eyes shot open, though, when that boy started using familiar words: 'Tamer.' 'Digivice.' 'Digimon.' It was that last one that really intrigued Dylan, but he didn't get a chance to inquire about how Johan knew it.
Dylan broke eye contact at the sound of the crash. The laughter made him start to cautiously back away. He deadpanned, "That's bad," at the same time that Johan was suggesting they flee, and when the bathroom door burst open he already knew exactly what to do: book it. "Jesus-freakin'-Christ!" he shouted on his way back, "What the heck is up with this Digimon stuff anyway?"
Soon as Johan threw the door shut, Dylan started bracing his body weight against it just to make sure the portal really and truly stayed put. "No one else say the D-word! OK?" AEGIS_Dakota: you dont have to repeat stuff dude its text
AEGIS_Tadayoshi: They're coming up the stairs. I can't get to you. We'll do what we can from here.
AEGIS_Dakota: were getting in the van
AEGIS_Tadayoshi: Insert through the roof. Captain and I are on the third floor, room 344. "Why does all this crazy crap keep happening to me?"
