As frustrating as the name was of this place.
Final fitness was a location that kan had grown to know well and the people there had learned to more or less leave him to himself. Ranging from the yakuza that stopped in from time to time; to the police that seemed to make it a point of working out in large numbers. They all let him be; then again who would want to mess with a man that stood head, shoulders and sometimes part of his chest above their own heads?
Not many at all; which was why he worked out here. Doing rep after rep; shifting from the various machines to even doing deadlifts in the back. That being said? He’d run into the issue of nothing really doing it for him. Not the running, not the lifting and not the lack of company. He’d just go through the motions.
It wasn’t like there was anyone here anyways, the damn place was deader than a doorknob due to it being the middle of the night. The only time that kan felt like he could work out and be more or less left alone. Even during the middle of the night sometimes that couldn’t happen.
But thankfully this was one of those times that he did just get the place more or less to himself; with most of the others that would come about doing something else. He knew that the yakuza were up in arms about all this digital world nonsense; the police were trying to collaborate with dats…
And that just left the others that weren’t affiliated with anyone to their own devices. He wasn’t a part of any group; which also meant that he got all his own free time and got to do whatever he wanted during it.
The man sighed a bit and took a seat on a bench; it was time to take a small break. Then he’d get back to it with a run; maybe some more reps on the lifting bench… and then hit the showers.
”Maybe next time I’ll come during actual normal people hours… this is just sad.”

Things had certainly taken a strange turn recently with the appearance of Zoya's digivice. She still wasn't completely sure that she wasn't getting punked or something even with spending some time with Kapitan. So maybe digimon were a thing, and this whole other world did exist alongside hers. What made her so special as to be picked for a partnership like this? Her head was still spinning even in the middle of the night, but at least she could use that restless energy for something productive!
Final Fitness was a silly name for a workout place, but the gym served its purpose admirably. The stuntwoman wore white athletic wear with black and yellow accents as she stepped onto the main floor. Her hair was tied up in a tight ponytail, although her bangs were allowed free reign to fall as they pleased. Following close behind in his less than conspicuous holosuit, Kapitan chewed on the end of a toothpick. The digimon's sunglasses were already flicked down from his forehead and over his eyes as he slowly surveyed the large room with a sweep of his head. He stopped for a second to consider the muscled human sitting on a bench, but then continued his observation.
"Lame," he finally said in Ukranian. While his language might have been foreign, anyone listening could tell from his tone that he was bored.
"Oh hush," hissed Zoya in Ukranian as well as she too noticed the stranger seated on a bench. She quickly looked back to Kapitan before the other human could make eye contact with her. "Exercise is good! And you can explain more about your world as I work out."
"Yeah, I could," agreed Kap as he took a few steps forward to a low rack of dumbbells. Still seemingly bored he bent over to hook a pinky finger around the handlebar of a thirty kilogram dumbbell, and lifted it effortlessly as he straightened back up. He then tossed it straight up into the air before catching it in an open palm. "But if you want to hear it from another human instead, why not ask him? He has one of those machines too." Turning his head to glance at the man again Kapitan arched a brow. In his hand he kept tossing the dumbbell up as if it were a ball he might pitch at the human if any danger was sensed.
"Hey, Kap," cautioned Zoya as the disguised digimon started playing with a dumbbell. She had warned him about showing off in front of other people. What he had to say caught her off guard, though; her blue eyes went back to the stranger as well as she blinked curiously. "He has one... too? A digivice, you mean?" While she was speaking in a different language altogether it wasn't hard for such an unusual word like 'digivice' to stand out from the foreign vocabulary. Zoya took a few seconds to study the man up and down, although her gaze lingered on the man's arm and face longer than it should have. Upon seeing the digivice chained around his neck though the woman let out a surprised gasp. "He does have one!" she exclaimed before jogging over in excitement.
"..and she told me not to make a scene," muttered Kap with a roll of his eyes behind his sunglasses as he followed his tamer.
"Excuse me sir!" Zoya blurted out in Japanese as she stopped in front of the man and bowed her head politely. She was visibly nervous, but also eager. "Sorry to bother you, but that.. that thing around your neck? Is that a digivice?"

It wasn’t strange to him to see another group of people enter the gym; he seemed actually somewhat dismissive of the individuals that stepped in. The woman got a passing glance as did the human male. The latter made him think of a bodyguard so he figured rather quickly they might have been with one of the local yakuza cells or maybe just some foreigner big shot that felt like working out here. It wasn’t really his business as to why they were there and the man just sort of shrugged off the fact that they started to speak another language he didn’t know to one another.
This wasn’t the digital world where languages broke down into some scope of understanding among people; it was the real world where the rules applied. That being said he could tell that the man was bored and the woman seemed to be berating the other.
He’d continue working out; ignoring the fact that the other male was showing off. It wasn’t important to him… Up until in their conversation came across digivice. It was a word that had few translations and everyone recognized it when they stumbled around it. He’d pause a bit and slowly put up his weights; clanking it on the part of the equipment that would keep it from falling on them. Then he’d slowly sit up, finding that the woman was staring at him… and then even started coming over.
His brow would raise and hearing her blurt out in japanese made him pause; was this thing around his neck a digivice? He’d look down; it would be easy to say something like no or just wave it off like a cell phone but he’d decide to take a drink of his water first. He had worked up a thirst from just trucking along.
”It is. My guess is that you have one too if you’re asking that.”
So did that mean that the man with her was a digimon? Or that she was the partner? It was hard for kan to really pick up who was who but with how the other was talking maybe he was just talking to a pair of humans. She seemed nervous and eager; like not knowing what to expect. So that meant that… she was probably new.
”And maybe you’ve got a few more questions. But don’t bother calling me Sir. Name’s kan. What’s yours?”
The man would offer his hand for a shake; he didn’t expect them to take it and that was okay with him if they didn’t. Often more than not it was easy for foreigners to get along in japan since the japanese in some segments didn’t like them too much. Even if kan had been living here for long enough that he might as well just be a full japanese citizen...

For a few moments as silence filled the air Zoya wondered if Kap had been mistaken. The man’s digivice didn’t look like her own, and now that she thought about it that detail concerned her. Fortunately the stranger answered her after all. Even better, he confirmed what her partner had assumed! She quickly turned to give Kap a thumbs up at the news, and the digimon smiled smugly as he moved to stand beside her.
“Ah, yes! I do have one,” spoke Zoya excitedly as she patted her pockets. As she took her digivice out she sat down on the bench Kan was using. “It is not like yours, though; it is a different shape altogether.” The woman squinted curiously at Kan’s digivice mentally comparing the two.
“Where is your partner?” asked Kapitan bluntly as he looked around. His Japanese was just as rough as his tamer’s. “I did not sense anyone else here when we came in. Also, do not mind Zoya. She is easily excited.” The digimon chuckled as his tamer made a grumpy face at him in reply.
“Kapitan, please. You were just as excited to explore this world when you first arrived.” Zoya shook her head with a sigh before looking back to the man. “Hey, Kan, right? Is your partner a, uhm… A giant bug? Like Kap is?”
“What is that supposed to mean?” asked Kap with a frown.

Kan shifted in his ‘seat’ and took a moment to look at the device that Zoya had. It was a D-3. Rather common in terms of a digivice. He had one before it was destroyed by one of the sovereigns. He’d look down to his new pure white digivice; not sure why it was like this nor why it was different than most other’s devices. Probably just something the digital world did to place him apart from others or something.
”Yeah yours is a model D-3; Mine is a D-1 or something. Not sure why I have it at this stage if I’m being honest.”
Kan gave a shrug and his eyes flicked over to Kapitan; so this was the partner she had? Judging from the back and forth at least that’s what kan guessed. He’d sigh after a moment and lean forward, placing either of his elbows on his legs; propping up his head with his hands.
”My partner isn’t physical like yours; Snyder is a spirit. Basically I get to turn into a big angry cat man rather than having one follow me around. That sort of thing is called a ‘spirit tamer’. You’re what people call Tamers. There’s one other type of tamer called a Cross General but they’re very rare.”
Kan tilted his head to one side; staring up at Kap with a soft look of curiosity. He hadn’t run into many that had bugs as partners. Other than Hiroyo, Zoya here was the only one that he had run into. Given the fact he had been around for almost seventy some years in digital time that was impressive to say the least!
”I’d offer to show you but turning into a digimon in the middle of my regular gym visits is usually a no go unless something bad happens.”
Which thanks to DATS, a lot of mons were hiding and many more were trying to get back home. So the few that would cause trouble were weeded out quickly. The man stood up after considering something and it was clear just how tall he was in comparison to Zoya… and even kapitan.
”Which thankfully hasn’t happened in a while; when I was younger it was quite more active in that realm of things. I imagine that you have more questions than just that; but you’ll have to excuse me if I keep working out while answering them.”

D-3? D-1? The information made her tilt her head slightly in thought. Obvious questions came to mind regarding the differences between the devices, but she didn’t want to bombard the poor man with too many technical questions just yet. Chances are she wouldn’t even know what to do with that kind of information right now anyways.
“Spirit tamer? I see, I see,” commented Zoya as she folded her arms across her chest, mentally digesting the information with a raised brow. “Kapitan has mentioned that humans have several possible roles when partnered with digimon.” The woman looked a little disappointed that Kan wasn’t going to demonstrate his transformation, but nodded in understanding all the same. Her blue eyes flickered back to her own partner. “That.. is fair. It took some time to get comfortable with Kap, even though I am always around costumed monsters at work.”
The disguised digimon smirked at his partner in amusement, and offered only a shrug in reply. A lot of humans seemed to be afraid of insects for whatever reason. It wasn’t his fault they gave into their illogical fears, so he’d never apologize for it.
When Kan stood up Zoya did as well. She had already been impressed with the size of his arms upon first laying eyes on the man, but with him standing upright and up close his physique was more noticeable now. Kan even made Kapitan look short to an extent, although the bug-man’s expression remained unfazed. The Ukranian shut her slightly agape jaw before nodding.
“Oh, yes! Do not let me be a burden. I am just excited to meet another comrade in arms! And what strong arms at that!” Zoya’s smile was honest and beaming. “I will ‘walk and talk’ as well, I think the saying is?” Fetching a resistance strap with a handle on each end the woman stretched it wide experimentally to gauge its elasticity.
Kap took a seat on a lat pulldown machine, idly toying with the locking pin for the weights in his hand. He set the weight to the maximum load.
“You said your partner was a cat man, yes?” asked the kokabuterimon, “...there are not many digimon like that. Do you mean a leomon?”
