Life Under the Rose [Luneth]

Rory decided that he would try to meet some humans after graduating school. There were a few options for doing so. For example, KIZNA is a trustworthy human-involved group, and plenty of humans did visit Rosewood. Luneth could recall seeing at least a couple on the way to Rory's school. Though Rory did share that he was nervous about meeting humans since they were so tall and everything, especially Adrian. "Yeah, humans are tall. But I doubt they'd try to mess with even a rookie Digimon unless they were asking for a fight, even Adrian's stated that he didn't like conflict before. They may have twice the height, but we have twice the power. Besides, Adrian's tall even among the humans, most are around five and five-and-a-half feet tall."
Thinking back on it, maybe Luneth DID end up inheriting an ability from his mother. "Does Mother have a move that makes ranged attacks less effective? It's something I noticed when Father and I train, his ranged moves don't seem to affect me as much as they probably should."
Now in Owen's office, Luneth smiled and blushed a bit when he received praise for his good grades in school from his brother. He was used to the praise from his parents and Adrian, but not from his own little brother quite yet. Luneth chuckled a bit, rubbing the back of his head with his paw in a bashful manner. "I do try my hardest, with my studies and my fighting skills..." Rory would go on to say that he tries his best as well, only for Owen to tell him that he'd do better if he didn't focus so much on setting up his "afternoon snuggles" with his classmates. Luneth stared at Rory, blinking a couple times. "Afternoon... snuggles...?" Luneth asked, trying his best to repress his inner laughter. "I would really like to know what he means by that."
Owen would then reveal a big piece of information to Luneth, telling Rory that while he did have enough to pass, the Coronamon needed to have a higher score on his final test to be a part of the 7/71st, a name that sprung up in Luneth's memory. "Wait, you mean the army squadron you and Mother were on? Rory, I didn't know you wanted to be a part of them, that's fantastic! Mother told me stories about it, and it really made me admire the 7/71st."
Now Owen would turn to Luneth, answering his question about Rosewood. According to him it was a combination of human and Digimon ideas, and apparently before this city was made the Eastern Timberlands very much relied on the survival of the fittest mentality. "A true example of what humans and Digimon can accomplish together. I would like to explore more of the city, I've only seen Rory's house and this school at the moment."
As soon as Luneth finished that sentence, his stomach would then start to growl. His being kinda hungry from earlier had now evolved to just simply him being hungry. "Aah... excuse me," Luneth said, covering his face a bit to hide the blushing. "Perhaps we should find a restaurant in town first?"

Rory pondered that point about most humans not wanting trouble. Yep, that made sense with what he knew about them. Still though, he remembered Owen mentioning that a lot of humans together could be a very violent thing, especially if they used all of their machines and technology together. But he decided not to dwell on that for the time being. Luneth asked if Skye had an ability that rendered ranged attacks less effective. “She does in fact.” Rory said, remembering one case in which Skye had offered to personally train him for a final test in one of Owen’s previous classes. He found it very hard to aim his ranged attacks at her, meaning he had to close in for frontal attacks to make any progress, and even then, that was a very… testing experience. It made Rory realize his hand-to-hand combat skills were sorely lacking, and he was grateful for this weakness to be revealed to him. Skye had taken the place of teacher in the following weeks, and it was thanks to her that he understood the value of getting up close to fight enemies when needed. “Good to hear that you got that from her.”When talking with Owen, Rory blushed, but smirked when the subject of his ‘afternoon snuggles’ was brought up. “Well, there’s just these really cute digimon that I like in class and…”“You’ll have plenty of time for that after you graduate, Rory.” Owen interrupted. While he did seem amused, there was a pleading tone to his voice. “Just… please, focus on what you’ve learned so you can get the best marks? In fact, I have an idea, why don’t I invite my son Bezil to help you out? He’s very good at combat and can take fire attacks better than most.”“Oh… huh, I think that’d be great, Mr. Owen.” Rory replied. He had known Bezil as a senior in their classes when he was just starting and he had found the furred Gumdramon to be fair and pleasant. The thought of Bezil helping him train in the last few days before the exam was an offer he felt rather grateful for. Especially when Luneth said he admired the 7/71st. That settled it in Rory’s mind. Owen’s own son helping him do his best to join, that would be brilliant. He only hoped they had enough time left. Owen meanwhile turned back to Luneth. “Well, if you’d like to learn more, why not check out the Rosewood Library?” he asked. “There’s a little museum they have set up that’s meant to tell first-timers and tourists about the town.”Then Luneth indicated he was hungry. Both Owen and Rory spoke at the same time. “How about you/we check out the central Inn?” they exchanged looks and grinned. “Ah, that place was the first building constructed in Rosewood, for the work crews and all.” Owen reminisced. “They do good meals there. FlaWizarmon runs it, he’ll sort you out with food with no problem. Ah, yes, tell him that you’re here for the graduation exams, he might give you a discount if you’re convincing enough.”With that, Owen would make his leave, returning to his desk as he pored over papers. Rory turned to Luneth, shrugging. “Well then, the Central Inn it is.” Rory surmised. “Mr. Owen has it right on Flawizarmon, there’s just something he does to the food he prepares that makes it so much better than what I can cook.”On the way there, Rory just had to ask Luneth this one question. “...Luneth, why can’t you live here?” he asked. “You’ll get more than enough education from Mr. Owen and the other teachers here about all the things you need to learn, it’s safe for digimon, and even Adrian and dad would be welcome to live here too.”

Luneth smiled when Rory confirmed that their mother did in fact have an ability like that. He honestly thought he was just imagining it at first, but it happened so often during training that he just had to seek answers. This made Luneth more curious about what else the two brothers could have inherited from their parents. "Did you happen to inherit anything from Father attack-wise, by any chance?"
While talking with Owen, Rory admitted that there were a couple cute Digimon in his class that he couldn't resist snuggling with. And Luneth could honestly understand the feeling. There were moments when he'd imagine his own crush snuggling up against him as well. Owen was firm to Rory about focusing on what he learned in order to graduate instead of snuggles though, going as far as to suggest inviting his own son Bezil to help him out combat practice. "Bezil? That's your Gumdramon son, correct? Father and Adrian have mentioned him before. I'd like the chance to meet him someday as well."
When Luneth shared interested in exploring more of Rosewood, Owen suggested that he check out the library since they have a little museum with the intention of informing first-time guests about the town. The Hackmon smiled. "That's a wonderful idea. We definitely must stop by there during my visit, Rory."
But of course, first things first: Luneth's hunger. Almost immediately both Rory and Owen brought up the Central Inn, which was the first building constructed in Rosewood according to Owen. It was run by a FlaWizarmon. He mentioned saying that Luneth was here for graduation exams in order to get a discount, though. "Unfortunately I don't think I'm the best liar in the world, Owen..."
And with that Luneth and Rory made their leave, making their way to the Central Inn. Luneth could feel his mouth start to water after how Rory and Owen described FlaWizarmon's food, and he couldn't help but lick his lips at the thought. Both he and his stomach were excited. As they traveled, however, Rory asked Luneth why he couldn't live here in Rosewood with him and Mother. Luneth sighed, how was he going to explain this to him? "The Digital World will always be my home, Rory. That much is never going to change and I do intend on returning here someday. But the human world... it has something that this world just isn't able to offer me quite yet. I cannot explain it, but I feel as if I have some form of calling on Earth, like I'm supposed to be there for a reason... I apologize if this was not the answer you were expecting. Despite their reputation, humans aren't as bad as you might think they are. They're all... unique, much like Digimon are." There was a brief pause, before Luneth blushed again. "Not to mention there's a really cute girl in my class that I have a crush on..."

Rory grinned when Luneth asked if he had inherited any attacks from their father. “I’ll show you in a little bit.” he promised. The thought of training with Bezil was a good one. Rory knew that particular Gumdramon to be very competent in battle. In fact in his first year in training after evolving to Rookie, Bezil was invited to show a demonstration in advanced rookie level techniques, and had shown that with the right whip of the tail or taking advantage of a good shot made all the difference in a good fight. “But… Bezil’s involved in KIZNA, right?” Rory asked Owen. “Yes, he is, but KIZNA are allies with the 7/71st, you know, so I’m sure he’d make time for you.” Owen replied. Luneth said he’d like to meet him sometime too. “Well, just head northwest to Ys, and you’ll meet him.” Owen said. “Careful though, it’s a tough journey if you can’t fly. I mean that most seriously. Take the Trailmon service if you mean to go that way. Thankfully there’s been a dedicated railroad built recently that’ll take you there safely from Rustport, Terminus or Snowflake.”After that, they'd proceed to FlaWizarmon's cafe, where Owen had advised that he gave discounts to students. Rory then chuckled and patted his brother’s back. “It’s okay, I’ll vouch for ya.” he promised. Rory knew FlaWizarmon didn’t mind one-off gifts like this. It was the repeated cheats that pissed him off. On the way there though, Rory kept his face neutral as he heard these words from his brother. He remained silent for a little while as he processed this. So Luneth thought he was destined for something in the human world? Given what he knew about some other digimon, yeah, this made sense to him. Some digimon were simply “chosen” and were destined to be partners to humans to unlock their true potential. In fact Rory wondered if there was some human out there that was destined to be his partner. However, thus far, that wasn’t the case. “Well, I guess if you really want to keep going there to find your destiny… I guess that’s all up to you.” Rory eventually said. But the last revelation that Luneth actually had a crush on a human girl. This startled him. “Wow, really?” he asked, astonished. “Umm… okay then. She's a human, right? Well, if she likes you back, that's great."

When Luneth expressed interest in meeting Bezil, Owen provided helpful instructions on how to get to where he lives. In order to fully remember it, Luneth decided to try saying it out loud, see if it stuck in his head. "Head northwest from Rosewood to Ys, flying or Trailmon are the preferred methods of travel there. Got it. Thank you, Owen. And I hope we meet each other again soon!"
That was when Luneth and Rory headed off to FlaWizarmon's cafe, where Rory patted Luneth's back in reassurance, saying that he'd cover for the Hackmon in order to get a discount as well. "Heh, if you insist, brother," Luneth replied with a smile on his face. "How good is FlaWizarmon's food, anyways? I'm usually up for eating anything as long as it isn't made by Father, but a general idea would be nice. Literally anything is better than Father's cooking." Rory would indeed know this well, as he had actually been sent a care package from Shoutmon before, containing takoyaki that he made. Somehow he managed to overcook the outside yet severely undercook the inside. It tasted bad, to put it lightly.
Then Luneth explained why he felt like he had to stay in the human world. It was very hard for Luneth to put it into words, but he did the best he could to explain it to his little brother. In the end, Rory seemed to understand at least a little bit where Luneth was coming from. "I'm going to try to be around more though, brother. Both Father and I are. We train in the Digital World regularly so we'll make sure to stop by whenever we do."
And now the revelation of Luneth having a crush on a human girl. This was something that Rory didn't know how to react to. "I know it's odd. I shouldn't have these feelings but I do. She started out as just a classmate but then I found out she was a Tamer, partnered with a Hawkmon named Hawkeye. We started hanging out more, and... well, you know. Only thing is... I'm not sure if she likes me back. Also she doesn't know I'm a Digimon."
Luneth felt like he had to add that last part quietly, because he was so embarrassed by his dumb lie...

Rory had to hold back drooling when Luneth asked just how good Flawizarmon’s food was. “One of the best chefs in the digital world. I know an Impmon-X friend who learned how to cook from him. Basically he told me that he can use almost any edible ingredient and make it incredible. He was probably talking the place up a bit, but, I’ve never been disappointed there. Best times are outside of the main meal times, it gets a bit too crowded for my tastes for the normal breakfast/lunch/dinner rushes.”The Coronamon was somewhat glad that Luneth wanted to spend more time in the digital world. “I’m glad, Luneth. Just… I hear worrying things about digimon that go to the human world. Not that I think it’ll happen again, but I’ve heard about the incident a few years ago with the Control Spire and dad being there too. Of course things like that are happening in our world too, just… I feel like I’d be less worried if we were all just in the same world and didn’t have to rely on jumping through dimensions and such.”On the news about the human that Luneth liked, Rory honestly didn’t know what to say. To him it felt like a very bad idea, especially if she had a digimon partner of her own. Eventually, all he could come up with was “Brother, you’ll need to tread very, very carefully to make that work.” he said, but thankfully they had arrived at the cafe. “Awesome, it’s only 11am so the lunch crowd haven’t shown up yet. Let’s get some brunch.” he suggested.

Oh wow... Luneth didn't know that Rory worried about him that much. He supposed it was only logical, with that Control Spire incident that Father had told him about and the insecurity of jumping between worlds just to see each other. "I'm tougher than I look, brother," Luneth said, trying to reassure Rory, "If anything bad does end up happening then you can count on it that I'll be just fine. Besides, nothing's even really happened in the human world since I've been there. Nothing that I've gotten wrapped up in or heard about, at least. Besides, I have Adrian and Father with me... plus a bunch of other friends you likely haven't met yet."
While Rory may have been able to hold back his own drooling at the description of FlaWizarmon's food, Luneth unfortunately had no such self restraint. "Ah, the sound of that is just making me hungrier," Luneth admitted as he wiped his mouth with the back of his paw. "A shame Father is not here with us, I'm sure he'd love to try some. Should we save some for him?"
"Nah, I don't think you should," a familiar voice was heard behind Luneth and Rory. "It would probably be cold and spoiled by the time you get it back to him."
"F-Father!" Luneth gasped in surprise. "What are you doing here?!"
"Just wanted to come down and visit Skye and Rory, though I was surprised to hear that you were here too, Luneth. Thought you woulda been studying at your dorm room."
"I was, but... math is the worst."
Shoutmon laughed. "Yup, Adri said the exact same thing when he was still in high school. He told me that sometimes he wished I arrived sooner in his school life, just to give him math pep talks if nothing else. So, do you kids mind if your old man joins you for brunch?"
"O-Oh! I would not mind at all. But what do you think, Rory?"

Rory was at least glad that Luneth seemed confident about the security of his situation on Earth. “Well, alright, just please don’t do anything that’d make mom worried?” he asked. “She calls her friends in AEGIS a bit… oh, don’t tell her I said that though, please, just… yeah, she often asks their allies if they’ve detected any sign of you. So far at least you haven’t been picked up by them.”
Their conversation was interrupted by the appearance of Shoutmon. Rory was delighted. “Dad! So good to see you!” the Coronamon launched into a brief hug.
It seemed that Shoutmon was here to visit them. He asked if he could join them for brunch. “Oh, of course!” Rory said, eagerly. “Would you like me to call mom here too so we can have it all together?”
The prospect excited him. It wasn’t often that their family could gather together. The Coronamon was hopeful of the opportunity.

"Rory... it's me we are discussing, remember?" Luneth responded when Rory asked him to not do anything to make Skye worried. "I am what is known as a 'straight-A student' in the human world, and I haven't even Digivolved once in that world yet. The last thing I want is to worry our parents." The part about her asking that AEGIS organization to look out for him was... something, though.
And that was when Shoutmon had arrived. He embraced Rory's hug with open arms, and as soon as he was done he tried to bring Luneth in for a hug as well, though the Hackmon dodged Shoutmon's attempt. "Ah, right, not exactly a hugger, I get it..."
Rory accepted Shoutmon's invitation to join his sons for brunch, and even asked if he should call Skye to be able to have a family meal together. "You can, but I'm not too sure if she'll accept right now. Adrian's down there visiting her right now to discuss some things. The thing is... we're planning on moving to Rosewood, the two of us."
"Wait, what?!" This was the first time Luneth was hearing any of this. "B-But what about school?"
"Adrian's parents are still gonna support you for as long as you wanna go to school there, you know they love you as much as any of their own children."
"I know, but..."
Shoutmon placed a paw on Luneth's shoulder. "It's gonna be fine, Luneth. I promise. I know you'll be fine on your own there, plus it's not like neither of us can't just hop over to the other world whenever we want." Shoutmon would then turn around to face Rory. "By the way, Rory, I have a gift for you."
Shoutmon would then pull out a green-colored box and hand it over to the Coronamon. Opening it up would reveal a nice gold-colored scarf inside, very similar to the one SuperShoutmon has. "It's a lot like the one I have, don't you think? Consider it as a 'please-forgive-me-for-not-visiting-that-often' gift. I think it'd look great on you."
