Hidekazu’s personality is quite complex when one really analyzes him. He may seem like he’s one way on the outside, but it is a very different story on the inside. Hidekazu comes off as having a strong personality. He is the type of person who is very comfortable around his friends. You would see him laughing hysterically and having a great friends around those whom he calls a friend. Kazu would do anything for those he loves. However, it is almost as if he is a completely different person around those who doesn’t know. When faced with a person to person situation, Kazu can easily withdraw and become timid. He doesn’t show his true self until he feels comfortable around the individual. Kazu chooses those whom he hangs around with very carefully. This is due to the fact that he has been hurt many times in his past by those he thought loved him unconditionally. It has caused Kazu to put up some sort of a wall to the outside world. This is not intentional; it is just a product of the chain of events in Kazu’s life.
Once Hidekazu gets to know an individual and feels that he can trust him, one would find he has a very strong personality. This is not a bad thing, Kazu just finds himself taking the leadership role in a lot of situations. When it comes to fight or flight, Kazu always fights. Since he was teased so much, Hidekazu was forced to form a tough skin so that he could withstand all of the ridicule he received on a day to day basis when he was younger. Despite all of this, Hidekazu turn out to be a very level headed individual. Or so he puts off. Kazu is very smart in the sense that he only intentionally shows his good qualities to those who know him. Kazu can be very loving and caring. He finds himself protecting the underdog because he was once that himself.
Kazu is the perfect example of the saying “You cannot judge a book by its cover.” He seems sure of himself and joyous on the outside. One would figure he has a great life judging by all of his laughter and his knit-tight circle of friends. However, that is only a visage Kazu puts on. Kazu actually suffers from very low self-esteem. He was once obese at a young age and constantly teased as a child. Kazu has two speech impediments. He has a lisp which causes him to incorrectly pronounce the “s” and “short c” sounds. He also has a stuttering problem. Kazu finds himself talking very fast to avoid any blockage of words that would cause him to constantly repeat the same sound, syllable, or word. Hidekazu did not know how to hide those speech impediments as a young child, therefore, that combined with his childhood obesity caused him to be the target of many ruthless young children.
Despite being considered “attractive” now and having friends, Hidekazu still sees himself as that young boy. He still stutters a little and has lisp despite years of speech therapy. It was discovered early on that he would most likely have trouble with that the remainder of his life. Because of this, Kazu finds himself doubting who he is and his potential. Is Kazu depressed? He wouldn’t think so. Just as most, he takes issue with a few things about himself that he really cannot change. Kazu knows he is a blessed individual and is grateful for everyday he gets to live. However, that does not shut up the negative voice in the back of his head that reminds him of all of is imperfections.
Taking all of that into consideration, Kazu has a pretty upbeat and positive attitude around his friends and even strangers. He does not want anyone else to go through what he is going through. Therefore, Kazu makes it his personal goal to cheer anyone up who needs it and to keep the mood as cheerful as possible. Kazu has a strong dislike of drama and mess. He knows that he was teased a lot because of that. He tries to diffuse any situation that affects him rather it affects him indirectly or directly. Kazu is the kind of guy you would want around. He is always a listening ear, giving advice to his friends whenever they may need it. He enjoys making others feel better and brightening their day. Knowing that he has made someone happy that day, elates Hidekazu.
Kazu loves his family dearly. He knows without them, there is no telling how he would of turned out. His family has been nothing but a support system, no matter how many trials and tribulations they may have gone through. Because of extenuating situations his family has gone through, Hidekazu finds himself very money conscious. He hates to spend money when it is not needed. Hidekazu has had for a few years now and he saved up his money for one year so he could buy himself his very own car. Kazu can be described as being very determined and passionate. Nothing can deter him away from his goal that he has. Once Kazu sees something that he wants, he will work his fingers to the bone so that he can get it for himself. Nothing is more satisfying then knowing you worked hard for what you want and it finally paid off. Kazu also sees as his personal duty to help around the house when needed. Loaning his parents money here and there is the least he can do for all the things they have done for him. Kazu is always more than happy to help.
Appearance :
At first, it was as if there was no hope for Hidekazu. Much of his childhood, Kazu was very short and obese. He had trouble doing a lot of physical activity and was teased a lot for it. It wasn’t that Hidekazu was lazy or a slob, he assumed he just had a terribly slow metabolism. Due to only have one vehicle and both of his parents working, Kazu didn’t really have the opportunity to enroll in any after school sports or activities. The rest was just a chain of events. He hate moderately but with no physical activity outside of his school’s physical education class, his weight was bound to accumulate. As a child, it was thought he would follow in the footsteps of his father and grandfather who were overweight as well. Many people dismissed him as amounting to anything when it came to that, therefore, Kazu had sort of a dark cloud surrounding his appearance growing up.
However, all of that changed around the time Kazu turned fifteen years old. Kazu found that he loved the sports volleyball and volley tennis. Those were the only two sports he had ever been good at. Even though he was overweight, he was quite strong and was able to serve the ball exceptionally well over the net. This earned him a spot on the male volleyball team which in turn required Kazu to attend practice three times a week. Even though it was a struggle, his parents managed to get him there most of the time. Finally becoming active along with adopting some healthier eating habits produced a new and improved Hidekazu. He slimmed down in the matter of months and his face cleared up as well. Hidekazu finally felt like something was going in the right direction for himself as far as appearance goes and he could not be any happier about it.
Today, Hidekazu stands at around six feet tall even. This surprised both him and his parents considering the fact that his mother I sonly five foot six and his father is five foot seven. Genetics has a funny way going about certain things. Kazu just assumed he got lucky. To accompany his new look, Hidekazu decided to grow out his hair. Usually he keeps his hair in a ponytail but he does change it up once it while, usually to accommodate whatever occasion he’s attending. Kazu has gotten rather tan from playing so much volleyball outside. The constant activity has also made some muscle build up. Kazu has a lot of muscle specifically in his arms due to volleyball. However, he is quite muscular from all of his cardio he does which includes running and jogging and the treadmill.
Hidekazu decided to get his ear pierced on his eighteenth birthday and he usually keeps a small gold hoop earring or a diamond stud. He usually keeps his face completely shaven. However, this is a daily task due to the fact that his facial hair grows exceptionally fast. Hidekazu has to shave pretty much every day to keep up his appearance. Kazu’s eyes changes color depending on the light. He was born with very vibrant hazel eyes; however, they can appear to be brown, green, or even grey in some lighting. Kazu believes in keeping himself groomed these days, it’s only little things such as shaving off any little hair he grows in between his eyebrows to prevent an atrocious monobrow. He also practices a few daily skin care products to keep his face clear.
As far as clothing is concerned, one can say that Hidekazu has sort of a preppy look. Just as he likes to keeps himself groomed, Hidekazu feels the need to always dress to impress and to look presentable at all times. He enjoys an urban mixture of dress clothing and stylish clothing to complete his look. You can normally find him sporting a designer button down vest with a plaid dress shirt underneath. He doesn’t wear a tie with this, however, he leaves his collar open and rolls up his sleeves to go with the more urban look. He loves to wear dark-wash jeans, usually on the slim-fit side. Kazu usually goes back and forth when it comes to shoes. He loves wear dress shoes and have his pants slightly cuffed at the ankle. However, he equally loves wearing a pair of stylish dark boots that slightly increases his height to 6”1 due to the heel. One would always see Kazu with his cross around his neck. Along with his family, Kazu is very religious and he never takes off his cross.
Personal History :
Although Hidekazu is fully Japanese, he was not born in Japan. A couple of years before Hidekazu was born, his parents, Kiyoshi and Ayame Azuma were living in Shibuya, Japan. They never had the most money in the world and they lived paycheck to paycheck. They both knew they wanted to start a family but feared that the income they had was not enough to keep their family afloat. They were constantly faced with this internal conflict of their burning desire to have a child that they can love and protect and the practical, “real world” side of things. Kiyoshi Azuma was a web-designer, however, he did not always find work and sometimes found himself jumping from job-job. Ayame, never finishing university because she had to take care of her younger siblings, also found herself working a normal job. After months of consideration, both of Hidekazu’s parents decided they were going to move to the United States in an attempt to make a better life for themselves and their future family. Ayame already had a sister there in Chicago, Illinois who wed a few years before to a Chicago native and now lived there. Now the plan to move to America was in motion.
It took about a years’ time to save up enough money for Kiyoshi and Ayame to save to up to go to Chicago. They were going on a leap of faith to be completely honest. In a years’ time, both had to begin to learn more English (Kiyoshi and Ayame had a small grasp of the English language). They also had to find new jobs. Kiyoshi found a full time position as part of a web design team for a new company with its own brand of culinary items. Ayame found herself a job as an administrative secretary for Jackson Park Hospital in Chicago. This was not an easy task to do. Both had to take individual trips to Chicago in order to go to job interviews and also to look for a new home. Of course none of this would have been possible without Ayame’s sister, Ino. Kiyoshi and Ayame were very determined to make a better life for themselves and their new family. After a year they finally moved to Chicago, South Dante Avenue in Stony Island to be exact and Ayame became pregnant and nine months later gave birth to Hidekazu “Airline” Azuma. Kazu needed an English name and his mother remembered all the amazing highways and byways and a street called Airline highway so that was his English name.
In the beginning, everything seemed as if it was the perfect American dream. Ayame and Kiyoshi were in the process of gaining full citizenship. They still struggled financially, however, money does not make a home, and they were very content and bliss in their home. Kazu was a very joyous child. He was never stingy or materialistic and was very happy with what his parents could afford. His cousins played with him a lot and he was very good in daycare. Kazu always played well with other and was never really upset or crying unless the situation or circumstances called for it. At times it could be confusing because at home, Kazu was called Hidekazu and everywhere else, he was called Airline. Kazu did have some time adjusting to this, however he did get the best of both worlds by learning both English and Japanese at the same time. At an early age, no one really noticed that he was different and Japanese, that was until he got older around elementary school age.
Kazu’s parents never realized that Hidekazu developed a lisp and also stuttering. Both of those are speech impediments that apparently were not really noticeable in his younger years. Kazu was known for talking rather fast, faster than usual, but no one paid any attention to it. Furthermore, he was three or four years old and toddlers are expected to mispronounce words. Therefore, no one really paid Hidekazu any mind when he could not pronounce the “s” or “short c” sounds. But, when Kazu got into regular elementary school, the children there were evil to him. He was constantly teased and ridiculed for his speech. Many kids cracked offensive jokes about Hidekazu and his Japanese heritage. Hidekazu always tried to look at the bright side of things, but sometimes it just got too much. Kazu did not want to tell and worry his parents because he knew how hard they worked every day to provide for him. However, Hidekazu did turn to other things in order to cover up his feelings.
The one way Hidekazu could think to combat all of those negative feelings he got at school was to eat. He was only six or seven years old and he felt like he could not talk to anyone about it. Sometimes, the bullies threaten to beat him up if he were to go to a grown up and Kazu believed him, Soon, Hidekazu put on a lot of weight and his parents finally noticed that something that was wrong. Hidekazu could keep the bullying a secret no longer and he finally told his parents about the teasing he got for being different and having speech impediments. His parents took this pretty hard, especially his mother Ayame. The next day they immediately went to the school and got things corrected. In the first grade, Hidekazu was enrolled in speech therapy class and the bullies were dealt with by the faculty and staff at his school. Finally, Hidekazu didn’t feel so bad anymore, however, he did not care for his appearance now since he was chubby. He really felt bad about himself now at this point. It only seemed like one bad thing to another for Hidekazu.
Throughout the years, school became easier for Hidekazu. He was exceptionally smart and after he finished the fifth grade, he was enrolled into a magnet school which offered advance courses to its students. Hidekazu formed some friends; however, he kept his circle of friends knit-tight. Even though some accepted him at the weight he was, he did not and still felt shameful for what he had done to himself. Despite the fact that he now had a good bit of friends, he was still teased a lot. People started rumors about him and this did not help Kazu’s self-esteem at all. This time around, he was more mature and was better able to ignore the remarks that people made. His mother always told him that people only talk about you because they are jealous of you. Hidekazu kept saying that to himself in his head every time someone made of him and it made it a little better. Despite all of the ridicule Hidekazu received, he continued to excel at school. He made straight A’s during middle school. One could say that he was a techer’s pet because every single one of his teachers absolutely loved having him as a student. Hidekazu ended up being chosen as Student of the Year in the 8th grade.
Even though Kazu self-esteem took a dip from all the teasing and ridicule he received during his elementary and middle school years, something miraculous happened. Hidekazu went through puberty after the eighth grade. Kazu had always been rather average height, but going through puberty, he shot up to about 5”10 after his dramatic growth spurt over a few months. This was not totally unexpected because his father and mother are both 5”9. All of that stored up weight he had basically disappeared and now Hidekazu was considered to be attractive. He really did not have many problems with his peers entering into high school. In fact, he had even more friends and now Hidekazu was becoming happier. Kazu was still having trouble with low self-esteem because he sometimes still saw himself as that short pudgy boy but he really did not let anyone know that. He always put a smile on his face and was a joy to be around.
Now that everything seemed like it was going well for Kazu, he was really enjoying life. He got a job at the supermarket down the street in order to save up for his own car and to also help out with bills. He always loved going over to his aunt’s and uncle’s house to see his cousins. Kazu was right in the middle, he had a couple of cousins that were one or two years older and one cousin that was younger and that was perfect for Hidekazu. One night after coming home from work, Kazu found his parents very distraught in their bedroom. They explained to them that his father lost his job due to his company not producing enough sales and the whole company had to shut down. Now they had to hurry to find another job or face eviction from the house they rented if they were not able to make rent. Kazu desperately wanted to work more hours but his parents told him that school was more important. He was told to just have faith and everything will be alright. Days turned into weeks and weeks turned into a couple of months. Ayame and Kiyoshi no longer wished to borrow money from Ayame’s sister. They had to make the hard decision to move back to Japan. Kazu’s father managed to find another job out there so did Ayame. They had to break the news to Kazu.
Finding out about the move, Hidekazu felt heartbroken at first. However, since he was so mature for his age he understood. Soon enough, he and his parents packed and said their goodbyes. It was hard for Kazu to say goodbye to all of his friends. He was going to enter into his senior year at his school. But, life always throws you a curve ball and you just have to deal with it. They took the longer plan ride back to Shibuya, Japan and began to settle into their new home. Hidekazu is now about to enter into his final year of school and then he will be off to university. Hopefully, this will be a good experience for him.
Relations :
[*]Ayame Azuma: Hidekazu’s mother. She had him two months before her 40th birthday so Kazu was sort of like a blessing in disguise. Now at 57 years old, she’s a classic beauty. She doesn’t look her age at all and she still feels a very cool 40 years old. She sometimes feel guilty because she feels that if she would’ve earned a degree and completed university, she could provide better than what she can now. She has now found a new job as a secretary in a hospital in Shibuya. It doesn’t pay the most but it gets the bills paid. She has a heart of gold is always caring and sweet. However, if you cross her or her family, prepare to feel her wrath. She can switch to one of the meanest people in a second. Kazu finds this hilarious and him and his mother, Ayame spend a lot of time together.
[*]Kiyoshi Azuma: Hidekazu’s father. He is a few years younger than his wife, Ayame which is not very common in both Japanese and English culture. He and Hidekazu sometimes buck heads because they both strongly opinionated people. Kiyoshi graduated from university with a degree in graphic design. However, for some odd reason why, he cannt seem to find a very permanent job that can provide for both him and his family. Kiyoshi is somewhat overweight, but he did pass down some of his genes to his son Hidekazu. Even though he may not show it all the time, he loves his son and his wife very much. Nothing comes before his family. Kiyoshi struggles with the fact that he cannot always provide for his family as a father should and sometimes takes out his frustration on others. Kazu loves his father dearly and is grateful to have him in his life, especially since so many do not have theirs.
[*]David and Ino Overton: Hidekazu’s aunt and uncle. Ino was born and raised in Japan and met David on a business trip to Chicago. One could say it was love at first sight and after a two years of long-distance dating, Ino made that leap of faith and decided to move to Chicago to be with David. They continued to date for a year and half and decided to finally get married. Together they have three children, one girl and two boys. Ino is two years younger than Ayame, but if you asked them, they would say they are practically twins. David is such a nice uncle, he loves his family deeply and invited Japanese culture into his home.
[*]Hatsumi Suzuki: Hidekazu’s new neighbor. To Kazu, Hatsumi is the perfect example of true beauty. They only met briefly when he was moving into his new home and she and her parents helped them move in. Hatsumi has such a soothing voice that she could calm down anyone. Kazu may be forming a love interest for Hatsumi but she has no idea. Hatsumi is around the same age as Hidekazu. She stands at around 5”8 and has long flowing hair. She will be attending the same school as he does. From what Hidekazu has seen, her fashion sense is impeccable and she is what one would call a girly girl.

Egg of Benevolence :
Partner’s Name: Arionmon [or whatever level he happens to be at]
Default Form: [champion or lower] Rookie
Gender: Male
Alignment: Good
Skills/Talents:
*Flight: Arionmon has golden wings which enables him to fly. He has about the same flying ability as an average Patamon or Tentomon as far as how high and how fast.
*Heighten Sense: Being a holy digimon that eventually digivolves into one of the top angel digimon, Arionmon has a heighten ability to sense danger and any sort of darkness than the average digimon. An example of this would be that Arionmon can sense if a digimon is showing its true self or intentions.
*Guiding Light: Arionmon is the perfect digimon to have if you find yourself in a dreadful situation. It is possible for his holy rings and the crest of hope on him to shine a bright light. Arionmon also has an amazing sense of direction and can usually sense where his tamer is if separated.
Personality: Arionmon may look like the perfect little digimon on the outside. He bares the crest of hope on his fur, one of the sure signs that he is the valiant of all digimon, right? However, that is not the case with Arionmon. Arionmon can basically be one the most arrogant, cocky, and prideful digimon there is. Arionmon has always known since he was in his digiegg that he was destined to do something great. Although, he had no clue what that was, he already had his destiny decided for himself. Therefore, Arionmon set out to do his very best to become one of the greatest digimon there ever lived.
As a newly hatched fresh digimon, unlike all the others, Arionmon was very rambunctious instead of crying all the time. Sure his attacks were weak, but that didn’t stop Arionmon from challenging digimon bigger and stronger than him. He knew that he was going to eventually become a digimon comparable to that of the great angels of the digital world. At that time, he had a false confidence. He didn’t really have the strength to back up what he said. As a result, he ended up being hurt a lot for his actions. Being as prideful as ever, he never showed when he had a weak moment. He never cried either, rather this had a lasting impression on how he grew as a digimon, Arionmon doesn’t really know.
Being prideful isn’t Arionmon’s only personality trait, however. Arionmon takes it upon himself to protect other digimon when they are faced with danger. Being picked on so much as a fresh digimon, Arionmon knows he hated that feeling of being the underdog, even though he never showed it. Arionmon hates bullies and others who feel the need to beat up on those weaker than them just because they can. One can say it’s one of this goals in his quest to become of the greatest angel digimon that ever lived. Arionmon is very set on achieving this and will stop at nothing to achieve it.
One may be surprised, but Arionmon does find time out of his schedule to make others feel cheerful when they are down. Arionmon really dislikes when negative feelings and surroundings are around him. Surprisngly enough, he takes pride in being able to talk to other digimon who are down on their luck to make their day just a little brighter. He genuinely does like helping others when he is able to and when he can’t, it really sticks with him for days at a time sometimes. Arionmon would sometimes beat himself up over the fact that he could not find a way to help out that digimon or help out that person that needed him. He finds himself taking on other’s burdens when really the situation is out of his hands.
Arionmon is also very impulsive in the sense that he reacts with how he feels. Sometimes his logical thinking is thrown out the window if he feels strongly about something. For example, Arionmon could be in battle and he would lose that battle if he sees a hurt comrade or digimon that needs immediate medical or healing attention. Though it pains him to lose a battle, at that point of time, helping out that digimon is more important and therefore trumps that battle. At any rate, Arionmon is so sure of his own strength that he would feel that he didn’t even need to win that battle, he knows his own true power and knows that he is a force to be reckon with.
