Hey, all! Newbie here, thought I'd ask a few questions about basic RP etiquete here since a) I'm inexperienced with RP in general and b) I can't seem to figure out bet practice through browsing the forum alone. My questions are as follows, and I apologize if they're a bit scatter-brained:
1. I originally assumed that open RP's were under topics marked as "OPEN" in the title, but a very small minority of topics in the location boards are marked that way. How do I tell if a topic is open for participation?
2. Some RP's are marked with names. I assumed that these names belong to characters found in the topics, but I'm not sure what their purpose is. What is the presence of a name(character or otherwise) in a topic title meant to indicate?
3. My understanding of practical RP interaction seems to be that it's a collaborative process in which, by writing your individual interactions, you create a story or set of events by bouncing off of each other. Is that assumption accurate, or is there more to it?
And that's all the questions I have for now, I think. I've abstained from the RP for a while now for a variety of reasons, and my uncertainty regarding the above questions has been part of that. I intend to continue observing the forums while I finalize my first character to gain further clarity, but any tips that can be offered may speed up that process considerably. If I've posted this in the wrong place, I apologize, it seemed the best place since, for the moment, I'm stuck using my phone to access this forum thanks to some hardware issues, so the chatbox isn't an option for me. Otherwise, thanks in advance for any answers, and happy RP'ing to you!
