Coming to a stop at a seemingly quiet small town, Stacy climbed off of her motorcycle and removed her helmet setting it in the motorcycle's sidecar before recalling her ride back into her D-Tector. Setting her D-Tector into the digivice cradle on her right arm she began walking into the town. Looking around there were various shops and digimon going about their business.
Moments later something caught her attention out of the corner of her eye and she walked briskly towards it seeing a digimon resembling a cockroach and wearing some kind of championship belt but the townsfolk seemed to be wary of him. Sure he was a digimon that Stacy had never encountered before but she knew one could not judge a book by its cover be it in the Human or the Digital World.
Then things got worrisome as a Tentomon flew up to the unknown roach digimon and said "You aren't a real champion, Roachmon. You killed the former champion while he was being taken to the hospital after losing his match with you."
"So, I also downloaded his data as well but it's not like your a threat to me in or out of the ring. Now get lost pee wee before I download you too." Roachmon growled as he swiped a fist towards the rookie. Stacy had enough and brought out her D-Tector as fractal coding appeared around her hand.
"Execute! Human Spirit Evolution!" she said as the fractal coding wrapped around her before she was enveloped in a light blue bubble. When the bubble burst a powder blue marine digimon resembling a Human World fishing cat appeared. "Nanamimon!" Now as one of her champion forms she charged forward before using her broad flippered tail to knock Roachmon backward the insect landing on his back.
Roachmon from the ground glared up into the brown eyes of the powder blue feline before he said "Who do you think you are interfering with me?"
"Who do I think I am?" Nanamimon asked with a snort before she continued "What kind of champion tries to purposely harm someone weaker than himself?"
Roachmon clenched all four of his fists. clearly furious, so tight that he almost bruised his skin before he reached back and took a swing at Nanamimon. Seeing the incoming punch Nanamimon moved back and at the same time a pale barrier appeared between her and Roachmon. Between her moving back and the barrier appearing, Nanamimon was unharmed but she was confused since she herself could not create barriers. Roachmon, meanwhile, was growling in frustration before he bellowed "This is not your business, Piximon!"
"You forget that unlike most of the digimon in town, I'm an ultimate level digimon and am hardly afraid of a cowardly bully like you so watch your mouth before I swat you like the pest you are." Piximon said as he flew in between Nanamimon and Roachmon.
"Shame ultimates like you are forbidden to compete for the championship or I would say we take this to the ring since you were a former champion in your youth." Roachmon said with a sneer as if not intimidated by Piximon's words.
"I'm the only ultimate in this town but I'm hardly interested in the championship anymore seeing as I am disgusted by how you dishonor what used to be looked up to." Piximon snarled back in a tone surprisingly intimidating for such a small digimon. Other digimon nearby had the wisdom to back away when the snarl came forth.
Nanamimon had stepped back a bit when Piximon first appeared and was following the verbal battle looking back and forth at both digimon as if watching a ping pong match. Maybe she should of cleared out for things then heated up in a way she couldn't predict as Roachmon then said "Shame what happened with the last champ guess you weren't such a good coach, huh?"
That was not the smartest thing for Roachmon to say as next thing he knew Piximon had used a magical blast to knock the bug on his back before saying "Big talk from some coward who murders an injured digimon after winning the title. You were obviously afraid the Stingmon would defeat you after he healed." Then Piximon flew over to Nanamimon and rested a hand on her shoulder before he said "Besides I have been coaching this gal for a few months. Shame you had to meet her like you did before the title match was set up."
Too say Nanamimon was puzzled was an understatement as she blinked stupidly before saying "Huh? Wha?" Definitely not her most intelligent moment.
Roachmon stared at Nanamimon and then at Piximon before he said "You think some dainty aquatic digimon like her can get the title from me? Very well, since you've been training her for months, I'll get everything set up for the title match myself. Be ready to show up an hour after sundown." With that Roachmon flew off.
By then Nanamimon seemed to recover from her perplexed state as she moved away from Piximon and looked at him with an annoyed look before she said "Why did you lie to him about coaching me for months? I don't even know you."
Raising his hands in a placating manner, Piximon said "Your right I should never of done that but, try to understand, someone has to get the title from him."
"Yeah, I get why you don't want the title in the hands of a murderous bully but why me? Couldn't you have trained someone else for this fight?" Nanamimon asked still mildly annoyed.
"Unfortunately none of the townsfolk will face him in a boxing match since they are all afraid of him." Piximon explained.
"Yeah having a champion that was likely admired murdered after a match could cause that kind of fear but, no offense, how can I be any help? I'm not a boxer by any stretch of the imagination and have no real fight training whatsoever. I may be a spirit wielder that fights mostly on instinct but I hardly digivolved into a boxer."
Surprised to learn he was talking to a spirit wielder, Piximon said "Now I really feel bad about dragging you into this but if you want to back out I don't blame you."
Shaking her head, Nanamimon said "No way. There is a whole village needing our help and, if nothing else, if we work together the digimon in this town may regain the ability to stand up for themselves." she then held out her hand hoping Piximon would accept her offer of a handshake before she continued "So, what do ya say coach. Are we a team?"
Piximon smiled as he took her hand shaking it as he said "Let's do this. I may not be able to teach you everything but if I teach you at least some of the basics you can combine that with the fighting instinct of yours to possibly give yourself a chance."
A short time later in a gym within walking distance from the arena where the match would be, Nanamimon and Piximon were working on various basics in boxing before Piximon had Nanamimon practice with a punching bag. Piximon watched as Nanamimon threw punch after punch. Though not as physically strong as Roachmon was Nanamimon's punches were fast and precise which made Piximon smile. She had a chance to give that pest a hard time whether she won the match or not.
Sometime later it was almost time to head to the arena so Piximon decided to cover some things about the arena he knew Nanamimon needed to know. "All right, listen up. There is something you need to know before the match." Nanamimon nodded which indicated to Piximon that she was listening before he continued "The arena itself is surrounded by a curious glitch that is harmless but digimon who enter it cannot use their special abilities so the matches themselves are, for the most part, even but keep an eye on Roachmon. Not only is he physically strong but his extra pair of arms could give him an advantage if you don't keep your guard up."
"Got it coach." Nanamimon said feeling pumped up with energy. As she was putting on the boxing gloves Piximon gave her she was glad she noticed, with some amusement, that there was no way the gloves would fit on her other human spirit of Blitzwolfmon. That form's claws were too long and were far from retractable. Nanamimon at some level was missing Blitzwolfmon's armor and slightly greater strength but she knew she would make do just fine.
With her broad tail swishing she and Piximon headed into the arena and since no one recognized her species she had to explain that she was a species called Nanamimon and she was there to take on the champion. It didn't take long and soon she was in the ring seeing the arena packed with spectators. It seemed a lot of them were hoping for Roachmon to get a major beat down. Across the ring, in his corner, was Roachmon and he was looking irritatingly smug but Nanamimon knew she had to keep her cool to avoid making stupid mistakes. After all she wanted to be able to leave the arena alive and hopefully in one piece.
The ring announcer, which was a Centaurumon, entered the ring and brought out a microphone and the crowd grew silent. "Ladies and Gentlemon in the blue corner and coached by former champion Piximon, the challenger Nanamimon!" The crowd roared to life as cheers filled the arena despite no one knowing who the unknown challenger was.
The ring announcer waited as the crowd gradually grew silent again which had Nanamimon believing these were some of the politest sports fans in existence. "And in the red corner the champion, Roachmon!" As Roachmon stepped forward flexing the crowd came to life again but not with cheers. In fact the entire crowd was booing Roachmon indicating anyone else would have been a fan favorite.
Then a Bakemon in referee attire came into the ring by phasing through the floor. Next came the sportsman like niceties that Nanamimon doubted that Roachmon took seriously. As the bell rang Nanamimon took up a defensive stance as Roachmon did the same the two of them circling while waiting for an opening. Deciding to take advantge of her greater speed Nanamimon pivoted suddenly to the left and swiftly swung her left fist catching Roachmon on the chin causing the cocky roach to stumble backwards in surprise. Seeing the swift marine digimon coming at him again he swung in retaliation causing Nanamimon to take a defensive stance to block the oncoming blow.
That was where Roachmon proved to be more crafty than his cocky continence perceived him to be as he then leapt forward flinging four powerful haymaker punches at once at Nanamimon and, though she blocked, the raw force of the blows sent her flying backwards into her corner. Nanamimon was seeing stars from the combination of Roachmon's punches and hitting the ring post but somehow she was still standing. Looking in the direction of Roachmon there were three blurry images of the bug coming her way. Okay exchanging punches with this dude was out seeing as he was stronger than she thought. This was one of those times she wished her brother Tim was here since he could likely match strength with this bug.
As the blurry images reached her she used her feline sense of smell to pinpoint the right one as she threw two swift punches with each hand both catching Roachmon in the chest and he backed up. By then Nanamimon's vision had returned to normal.
After what felt like an eternity the bell indicating the end of the first round rang and Nanamimon muttered "Thank God." Returning to her corner she slumped down to catch her breath.
Removing a glove as Piximon handed her some water she chugged it down eagerly before putting the glove back on and saying "He's tougher than he looks, coach. Makes me wish I were ten years younger at some level but I can still beat him."
Confused at her comment regarding wishing she were younger, though Piximon decided to say nothing about it, instead decided to say "I know you can do it. Just be careful out there." Nodding, Nanamimon pulled herself to her feet just before the bell indicating round two rang.
However the next three rounds was where things started looking bad for Nanamimon. Though Roachmon had a few bruises, Nanamimon, on the other hand, was beginning to look like she got ambushed by a gang with baseball bats. Her entire upper body was littered with massive bruises and her right eye was swollen shut. She also had blood trickling out of the corner of the right side of her mouth and, to make things, worse it hurt to breathe never mind move.
It was now before the start of the fifth round and Roachmon was looking smugger than he was at the start of the match and most would of considered that a difficult, maybe even impossible, feat as he was leaning back in his corner almost laughing.
Meanwhile, leaning against the ropes as if knowing if she sat down it was likely she wouldn't be able to get up, Nanamimon groaned in pain. Piximon now felt that enough was enough for the spirit wielder and voiced his concerns by saying "Alright, I think enough is enough. Please consider throwing in the towel."
Shaking her head, Nanamimon said "No I can still win and if I'm right I've figured out a strategy to beating him."
Piximon groaned in frustration at her stubborness before he exclaimed "Does your strategy involve being reduced to a powder blue smear on the mat? Cause that's what's likely gonna happen to you."
"I'm not ready to quit and if you throw in the towel on my behalf, I'll climb out of this ring and pound your ultimate level ass into the floor myself."
Piximon just stared in shock as he just witnessed how stubborn this spirit wielder could be as the bell for round five sounded and, with a groan, Nanamimon dragged herself to meet Roachmon though the odds were definitely really against her. She seemed to have gone from underdog to walking wounded and a hush had fallen over the crowd.
"You must be stupid or maybe even insane to keep coming at me, little kitty. Looks like it's time to wrap this up since you're on your last legs." Roachmon said with a cruel laugh as he readied to move in to make good on his words.
What happened next was not what he expected though as a smirk appeared on Nanamimon's face as she said "That is if you can wrap this up. I doubt you can though because I have a dead arthritic grandmother that can hit harder than you so what chance does your foul smelling hide have?"
"What did you say to me you walking rug?" Roachmon snarled in response which made Nanamimon's smirk widen.
"You poor thing you must be hard of hearing too. Should I repeat myself a bit louder?" she replied with sharp sarcasm that couldn't be missed.
Piximon watched as it appeared that Roachmon's biggest weakness was his inflated ego. How Nanamimon had figured it out in her beat to hell state was anyone's guess though. As for Roachmon, the clever ocean dwelling cat's words made him audibly roar in rage and charge her all resemblence of focus or even smugness completely gone. Nanamimon waited until Roachmon was close enough to make her move. She only had one shot and if this didn't work well she would be unlikely to survive another day.
Now in range she ducked down and delivered two swift and sharp blows to his stomach causing Roachmon to freeze and clutch it in pain, and before he could recover enough to throw a punch of his own, threw all her weight into an uppercut hitting Roachmon in the chin sending him tumbling backwards and the Bakemon referee began the count while she stood there panting surprised that Roachmon seemed to have a glass jaw.
It seemed Roachmon was not gonna get it as Bakemon continued his count "...7...8...9...10." As the bell rang indicating a knock out Nanamimon leaned against some nearby ropes. "The winner as a result of a knock out and new champion, Nanamimon!" the Centaurumon announcer called out over the cheering crowd as Piximon, who Nanamimon didn't notice had entered the ring in the rough shape she was in, raised her arm in victory while the Bakemon referee had retrieved the belt resting it on her shoulder.
Now that she caught her breath she pushed herself off the rope and was standing upright but Roachmon, who was furious at his loss, had gotten up heading straight towards a currently unaware Nanamimon striking her in the back of the head before she could be warned by anyone. The blow caused her to collapse in a heap on the ground. Centaurumon and Bakemon, however, were not backing down from Roachmon as if not intimidated by him anymore. Between the two of them they dragged the bug out of the arena with Roachmon taking hits from various thrown objects from the audience.
Piximon fluttered down to Nanamimon who seemed to be coming around and the little fairy digimon asked "You okay there champ?"
Nanamimon's response might of been funny if her head hadn't taken such a pounding that night as her reply was "Look, fishies."
"That answers my question." Piximon muttered as Nanamimon dedigivolved back into her human state causing the crowd to gasp in surprise at the knowledge that their new champ was not just a human but a spirit wielder of all things. With use of his barrier he hauled Stacy to the hospital where, by some miracle, didn't have a concussion.
When she came to some time later she found Piximon near her bed. Sitting up, though not the best idea, she looked at Piximon and said "Hi, coach."
"I don't know how you did it but somehow you not only defeated Roachmon but you also inspired the town to stand up to him. From what I've heard, Roachmon was banished from this town. I hope you don't make a habit of doing crazy things out of sheer stubborness." Piximon said as he managed a smile.
"No there are some that say I am worse." at Piximon's incredulous look, Stacy waved him off before she continued "All joking aside, now that the roach problem has been taken care of I want to give up the title. I think it should be held by someone from this town and, if you are worried about who should have the now vacated title, I think a tournament to determine the new champ can solve that easily enough."
"That sounds like a good idea. I can bring it up with the other townsfolk now. Thanks for your help." Piximon said as he fluttered away to spread the word.
By the time Piximon returned Stacy was no longer there. After talking to the hospital staff, he learned that she had somehow zombie shuffled out of the hospital and was long gone since she climbed on her motorcyle and drove away. After looking at the tire tracks outside the hospital, Piximon shook his head before he muttered. "Crazy devil. Good luck champ."
