A Tale from the Heart [YsMPC 1.2] [Skadi]

The sun had completed its tour for the day, and had now been replaced by a myriad of stars, with dotted the inky canopy. A low, waning gibbous moon hovered tenuously in the twilight firmament, bestowing a very dim light upon the mountains. It was a cool, breezy night in the City of Y’s; the breeze hummed in quiet harmony bringing with it the damp scent of the new night. Briefly, a dark, wispy cloud eclipsed the crescent moon. For a few shadowy moments, it looked like there was a halo around the cloud, a dull aura of lunar luminescence.
The majority of Digimon that populated the streets wouldn’t take notice of the sky above them, still focusing on the preparation of the Lux Harmony Festival. But for a certain Spadamon, whose dimly lit eyes stared at the velvety darkness above him, it was something that he enjoyed.
Kitt kept himself on the balcony of his room in Sanctuarium Unions, situated on the fifth floor. He placed his hands on the railing as he glanced his head upwards towards the night sky, his black cloak swaying against the wind. Star watching was one of his favorite things to do when he was a Wanyamon, and it still is. It was the only thing he enjoyed when he was still in that orphanage in Snowflake Village. The rest? Well...it was something he didn’t like remembering.
He then watched the mass of Digimon in the streets begin to wine down for the night. Some are already heading home while others make some final runs for the night so they can continue on things for the festival the next day. When Hikaru first announced the festival, Kitt was ecstatic, having never attended an event like this before, or ever for that matter. So when KIZNA was assigned to help out each of the districts when they weren’t on missions if they felt like it, Kitt was more than happy to help. So throughout the day today, he helped many Digimon with important stuff, in some cases he had to digivolve to White Leomon to help out with some of the heavy lifting.
With the day finally letting out and the night beginning, he decided to spend a couple of nights at Y’s, wanting to still help out with all of the preparations going on in the districts. So for now, he just wanted to relax, gazing at the stars.
But a problem arose: he was by himself, with no one to hang out with. Ophelia, Laertes and Cassie were out on a mission, and he didn’t even know if Kenny and Skadi were here since they stayed in the human world. But a thought popped up: Kenny may have gone back, but what about Skadi?
Taking out his D-Nexus (which he has finally mastered the way with how it works), Kitt submitted a message onto Skadi’s Tamernet, asking if she wanted to hang out for the night. But before he could hit the send button, he froze, a faint blush dusting his cheeks as he looked at the screen. Ever since the mission in Spyware Caverns and the mission with Ebonwumon, he couldn’t help but feel butterflies in his stomach whenever he saw the Valaismon, causing him to hide his flusterness.
After his moment of hesitation, Kitt pushed the send button, the message going live on Skadi’s end. He held the D-Nexus close to his chest, letting out a nervous sigh.
“Don’t be awkward around her.” Kitt said to himself.

Things had been a little quiet in recent times.
Much of Kenny's life as of now had been a mixture of work, with the occasional pop offs to the Digital World from time to time. Yet, as the small but tight family kept up with their day-to-day lifestyle, he couldn't ignore Skadi's more muted, quiet tone that had, just recently, become way more apparent ever since the fight with HiAndromon, and subsequent realization that perhaps she hadn't been strong enough to help.
Where once her seemingly never ending amount of energy would permeate a lot of his life, she often seemed a lot, more calm and pensive, oftentimes thinking back to that one battle and how she couldn't bring herself to join Mae and Silence into the dying moments of the fight inside the portal to the alternate dimension, no matter what the true risks entailed.
Even Kenny, who'd otherwise usually find himself trying to wrangle his partner a lot of the time, had to admit he was starting to miss it a lot, oftentimes letting her snuggle up to him for warmth. But, oh how did he wish he could do something, anything to help her snap out of her funk.
Thankfully, with the recent announcement of the Ys Lux Harmony Festival, the two did have a chance to at least wind down and take their minds off it, if only for a while. The two would often chip in whenever they had the chance to help out whenever they could, helping out with the stalls and the decorations and whatnot.
It wasn't much, but it was a start.
Tonight, as the two were just relaxing for the night at home, Kenny just playing away on his Switch to unwind as Skadi napped away, the Valaismon's ears would give a little twitch as a light ping rang from her D-Nexus, herself quickly scrambling to grab it to read the message.
Notably, this wouldn't escape his attention either, "Hey Skadi, who's it from?" He asked, glancing over her shoulder as her eyes scanned the message.
"It's Kitt!" She cried out, "He wants us to come hang out with him tonight!" While she wasn't going to admit it out loud to anyone anytime soon, she did enjoy being in Kitt's presence, often either snuggling up to him and/or lightly playwrestling with him whenever she got the chance. But in recent times, she swore that his normally vanilla fur on his face would often be broken up by a light shade of red from time to time.
Either that or her head was playing tricks on her once more.
The young tamer just stifled a chuckle as he glanced at the message himself, "Well, you certainly have quite the ecstatic fan, if you know what I mean..." He joked, lightly ribbing his partner in the stomach, much to her own embarrassment.
"Shut up! It's nothing like that!" The Valaismon's face was now a bright beetroot red as she lightly grumbled, crossing her arms and turning away, "We're... we're just friends! Nothing more!"
That didn't exactly do much to curb Kenny's teasing, as he got up to power down the Switch and the TV before forming the Digi-Port in front of them, "Ah, I'm just teasing you, girl." He chuckled once more, as he stepped inside, "I wouldn't worry about it too much if I were you, honestly."
Despite her earlier transgressions, she didn't hesitate to trot her own self through the portal as well, "I just hope Kitt's doing OK..." Kenny would give out a small whistle of bemusement as he glanced at the newly transformed sight of Ys in front of them, "I swear, I am never going to truly understand this place." Even after spending a lot of his adventures in the Digital World's many locales, this place was still full of surprises. So that was what Digital World festivals were like? Where the landscape practically terraformed itself in turn?
Whenever that was true or not, he still couldn't deny that this place just looked beautiful at night, especially during this time; the crystals gave out a small glow alongside the flowering trees, small coloured lights surrounded the booths and the locale everywhere he looked, and even during the night, both humans and Digimon alike could be seen oohing and ahhing the scenery.
Naturally, Kenny couldn't help but steal a few quick photos for himself.
Meanwhile, Skadi glanced back at the message, "I think this is where Kitt told us to meet up. Should we tell him we're here?"
"Nah, tell him we're busy trying to save a drowning Seadramon or something, of course we should tell him, ya knucklehead." He lightly bonked her on the head with another chuckle.
Grinning to herself, she quickly typed something up for Kitt:
goatkid50: hey kitt, were here!

After a few minutes of nervously fidgeting across the room, Kitt’s ears flickered, hearing his D-Nexus making a small notification chime. He glanced down to read the message, only for his eyes to slightly widen. Not only Skadi agreed to hang out with him, but her and Kenny were already here, right outside of Sanctuarium Unions.
He took a deep breath as he paced from one end of his room to the other. He never was this nervous when it came to spending time with Skadi; he enjoyed being around her. She was outspoken and loud, like Eris and Ophelia. Not to mention brave, strong, and kind. But recently, he began to feel a bit different around her—as evidenced by the butterflies in his stomach. He didn’t know what they were, but they would go off whenever she laughed and cuddled with him.
Was this how close friends usually react to each other, or was this something else, something more deeper?
He shook his head, trying to get himself together. “Come on, Kitt. Get it together,” he said to himself. “You’re just spending time with Madam Skadi and Sir Kenny. Nothing more than that. It’s not because there’s a festival going on and you’re feeling lonely, it’s not because you’re starting to feel a certain way whenever she’s around, and it’s—wait...why am I talking to myself? Agh!”
Embarrassing as it was, He was glad nobody was around to see it.
Not wanting to keep them waiting, Kitt put his D-Nexus into his cloak pocket and exited his room, racing down the stairs, dashing past the residential quarters and the familiar commons room, which was already decorated to fit the festival spirit. He felt a rush of happiness wash over him, so much so that he began sprinting on all fours. He never felt this excited going to see a friend before—a close friend at that.
Exiting the Sanctum, he caught a glimpse of Kenny and Skadi waiting among a row of booths that were lit up by the glittering crystals floating around.
Madame Skadi! Sir Kenny!” He called out. He began to slow down, going from sprinting on all four limbs to his feet, coming to a slow stop, skidding on the trail of snow. “I’m so happy you guys could make it! How have you been?"

Who could blame Skadi for being excited to see Kitt once more? He wanted to hang out with her, in the middle (well, start, but semantics) of a big city festival that could easily stand toe-to-toe with the ones in Japan and give them a good run for their money, especially when the place was capable of terraforming itself just for something like this. It was like a ticking time bomb of potentially good ideas.
Speak of the devil, no sooner than the two had settled down in front of the equally glistening Sanctium Unionis would Skadi's ears give out that all too familiar twitch as she and Kenny could hear loud, frantic skittering across the floor growing gradually louder and louder. Once again, Kenny fought to stifle his chuckles; it wasn't hard to see Skadi's influence having not just rubbed off onto Kitt, but practically evolved and spread over him.
That kid had grown from a meek little kitten to a enthusiastic, ride-or-die warrior in his short time in KIZNA so far.
The two would turn over to the sound of Kitt calling them over - and before Kenny could even lift a finger, Skadi would practically dash off without even a warning so much as a warning... at least for him.
Kitt would be a little luckier.
"Kitt, it's you!" Suddenly, Kitt would find himself flung off his feet and sandwiched between both the snow and Skadi's entire body, as her egg nose nuzzled against his cheek, "I missed you so much, buddy!" It'd only be brief, though, as soon after, Kenny would quickly pry Skadi off him easily, and put her down in the snow, her tail wagging happily all this time.
"Sorry about that, man. Somebody here must've snuck a little too much sugar under my nose while I wasn't looking. But yeah, it's good to see you again." Leaning down, he'd give Kitt a good scratch underneath his chin affectionately. "I'll admit, it's been rather... hectic and busy over the last few weeks for the both of us. And I'll admit, it's been kind of a doozy."
That was an understatement, to say the least.

Kitt’s golden eyes widened in excitement as he saw Skadi and Kenny outside, making him grin widely. As he got up on both of his feet, sliding across the snow, he had no time to react as the over-enthusiastic Valasimon practically bowls into him, making the Spadamon yelp in surprise as they both tumbled into the snow. Thankfully the snow was thick enough that it cushioned the fall, otherwise he would have had a big bump on his head. Wouldn’t be the first time he crashed head-first into something.
He let out a hearty chuckle, wrapping a hand around her, purring happily and tail swishing. “I missed you too, Madam Skadi,” he replied, bunting her cheek affectionately against his. He would never get tired of this, especially with her. Though the hug wouldn’t last long, as Kenny picked Skadi off of him, to make sure she wasn’t smothering him.
“Hehe, nine times out of ten, it was probably you since you tend to multi-task so much, Sir Kenny,” Kitt teased. He was momentarily surprised by his human friend petting him, eyes widening in response, before starting to relax, becoming a purring machine. He loved this feeling ever since Ophelia scritched behind his ears a while back, when she and Cassie spent the night with him in Icy Fates’ Fortress. Since then, he began to love the feeling.
“Yeah...it’s been...mmmm...hecktic to say the least…” Kitt concurred, lazily humming in relaxation from Kenny’s scritches. “But nothing that we...members of KIZNA can’t do…”
Once Kenny was done giving him the scritches, Kitt would take a moment to get himself together before rising up to his feet, shaking the snow off of his cloak. “Besides, we completed those missions with flying colors, even though we had some rough patches here and there. So…” He scratched the back of his head, his cheeks turning a light red as he realized that he called his friends to hang out with, but had no idea what to do. “Anything you guys want to do?”
He’d be fine with anything to be honest, as long as Skadi was happy with it.

It was by some sort of miracle that Kitt's spine did not spontaneously combust the second Skadi practically threw him into the ground.
Indeed, what gave Kenny more pause for alarm was the fact Kitt, the same shy and nervous Kitt who felt afraid to lay a claw on Skadi in her crazy improvised gig to distract a town, was not only shrugging off her affection like it was nothing, but actively nuzzling her back in turn. Either Skadi and/Ophelia's influence had started to massively rub off onto him, or that was an actual imposter that somehow managed to nail his mannerisms to a T.
Thankfully, it looked like his years of owning a childhood cat were finally starting to pay off for him.
The tamer could barely stifle his chuckles as Kitt practically mellowed himself thanks his scritches. Despite the kid's rough and tough exterior beholding a mighty warrior inside, at the end of the day, he knew his housecat-esque mentality would ultimately win over very easily. Not that it was a bad thing, mind, it did help him to ease Kitt into KIZNA.
So, what did they want to do, exactly? Well, that... was going to be a tricky one to answer, considering how both parties agreed to this on very such short notice. "Well... I'm not so sure, honestly." The tamer lightly chuckled again, "I mean, we didn't really get a chance to really discuss this properly. But hey, I'm sure we can find something to do here, to be honest. Night's still young."
"Yeah, besides, we're more than happy to go along with what you want to do!" Skadi would quickly chime in with a nod, "Just say the word!"

Kitt, underneath his temporary trance, felt just somewhat glad that Kenny continued to pet him in one of the places that he demonstrably liked. At first, he didn’t really like being petted, seeing it as something degrading and embarrassing. That was until Ophelia gave him a nice scratch behind his ears when he suddenly turned into a Wanyamon a few months ago. It was a feeling that felt so heavenly that he practically melted in her arms, and here he was doing the same thing with his human friend. Now he understood why both of his sisters loved this feeling; it just felt so euphoric.
After that, it seems like the three of them were sort of left in a stump with what to do. The night had only just begun, and this was Y’s at its busiest, probably just as busy as Luminas. Kitt looked down, crossing his arms as he mused with potential options. Despite the organization of the festival being about halfway done, many stalls have already opened up, so they could go a couple of them and have fun. Yeah, that’d be great. Then after that they can get some dinner on a canal boat as they float through the channels. Skadi would love that!
Just as he looked up to them, ready to tell them what they were going to do, commotion was heard a little ways from here. Kitt’s ears twitched as he turned his head to where it was coming from.
“Do you hear that?” Kitt said to them with a puzzled expression. He took a step forward, trying his best to focus. “It sounds like...arguing. I can barely pick up any words due to the wind howling, but I did hear something about… ‘cheating’?” He turned to Kenny and Skadi. “Do you guys want to go check it out and see what’s going on?”
Despite just coming up with a pleasant way with spending the evening with his friends, KIZNA duties calls, even on a beautiful night such as this.

Kenny couldn't deny it as he glanced down at the young Spadamon musing to himself; that kid's heart was way in the right place, even if he was one to jump into the deep end without so much as a warning. He swore he could see his younger self in Kitt sometimes. With another light chuckle, he'd just pat him on the head, "It's OK, take your time."
Besides, the fun-sized cub called this place home. He'd be sure that Kitt would figure it out way sooner rather than later.
Right on cue, as Kitt's ears gave a noticeable twitch, Skadi's would follow suit once more as muffled noises could be heard coming from... somewhere, giving a quick nod of acknowledgement to the Spadamon's words, as Kenny himself would turn towards the noise. And frankly, the young Spadamon's intuition wasn't too far off, but what was that about 'cheating', exactly?
"I don't see why not, really." He shrugged, "Best we take care of it now before it possibly spirals out of control. Night's still young, we got plenty of time on our hands. I don't think it'd take long to take care of that" After all, it didn't sound like anything that would trip the barrier's security system and kick the perpetrators out in an instant, at least not yet.
Skadi would once again nod as well to Kitt, "He's right. Think it'd be best to take care of it now, I'll catch you guys there." As soon as she said that, she'd trot off to the source of the arguing, leaving Kenny and (possibly) Kitt to catch up with her as soon as they could. By the time they got there, Skadi had already popped the question to the possible perpetrators:
"Hey guys, what's going on here?"

Glad that Kenny said he was okay with checking it out, Kit gave a smile, but still maintained a bit of weary as the source of the noises became louder and louder. He hoped it was nothing too serious as it would look bad for the festival if a fight broke out and citizens were potentially caught in it.
So when Skadi took off, wanting to get there first, Kitt’s eyes widened. “W-Wait for me, Madam Skadi!” He quickly took off, following the Valaismon and eventually catching up to her (and unfortunately leaving Kenny to catch up with them). For a Digimon with hooves for feet, she was surprisingly fast.
After a bit of hoofing and weaving through the crowd, the trio found themselves in a snowy field, voided by any citizens. It wasn’t too far from the Sanctuarium, but it was right next to one of the nearby canals. There was no current flowing as the water was frozen. The glittering crystals that nested on the nearby trees were the only light source in the field; they were like the lamps you’d find hung up on strings connecting between two buildings.
In the middle of the snowy field was a makeshift rectangular arena that was carved in the snow, and in it, were two blue Kotemons in the middle of a Kendo match. But it wasn’t really a Kendo match, as the two bōgu-wearing reptiles were hitting each other with their shinais in areas that would be deemed illegal in an actual match.
“Ow! That was my shin, you bucket of dolts!” The Kotemon on the left said, reeling from the pain. He then hit the other Kotemon near the groin, and audible whacking noise echoing the field. The second Kotemon took a step back, groaning in pain as he fell into the snow.
“That was a cheap shot, you dowy-eyed mope..!” he uttered, slowly getting back up. “You can’t aim below the belt; that’s cheating! It’s an instant disqualification, so I win this match!”
“Nuhh nuh! I got two ippons, so the match belongs to me!” The Kotemon on the left yelled, puffing his chest up in a proud stance.
The Kotemon on the right quickly got up to his partner’s face, butting heads with him. “No, I win! You cheated!”
“Did not!”
“Did too!”
“Did not!”
“Did too times 10!”
Before the Kotemons could settle this in an all-out brawl, they were interrupted by the arrival by Skadi, who asked what was going on. Kitt arrived as well and hopefully Kenny if he wasn’t too far behind.
The Kotemons stared at the trio incredulously before their eyes widened, realizing that they were a part of KIZNA and then looked back at each other. “He started it,” they both said, pointing their fingers at each other.
“We’re out here practicing Kendo, but this idiot thinks hitting every area on the body counts as a ippon to the match. He’s such a dumbass.”
“You wanna say that to my face, shrimp dick!” The other Kotemon reacted, getting in the other’s face again.
It would be then that Kitt would step in, extending his arms between the two so he could separate them. “Easy there, you two,” the Spadamon murmured.“Just take deep breaths and calm down. You’re not in any trouble.”
The Kotemons stared at each other angrily, before turning away in a “Hmp!.” Kitt anxiously rubbed the back of his head, turning to Skadi and shrugging his shoulders.

The fact that Skadi had dashed off without any semblance of a warning, followed by Kitt having to chase her, was something that... Kenny was actually pretty used to by now. Problem was, the two had practically vanished into the crowd of much larger Digimon, leaving the poor tamer practically pushing and shoving his way through the crowd just to have a fighting chance of reaching those two.
As Kenny found himself practically drowning inside the crowd, and barely glimpsing at a possible exit, Kitt and Skadi would find two Kotemon quarrelling with one another over the rules of kendo, and, despite Kitt's efforts to reassure them, would barely find themselves budging an inch. Needless to say, Skadi was quickly finding herself getting lost with the Kotemon's jargon, puzzling the Valaismon to no end.
Before she could say anything, a panting Kenny would come trudging out from the crowd and near the makeshift kendo field, "You kids are going to be the death of me, I swear to God." He stuttered out, rubbing his forehead, "You guys know what's going on here?"
"Well..." Skadi started off, awkwardly twiddling her sausage fingers, "These Kotemon here were trying to practice Kendo, yet they've been arguing about the rules, I think they were going on about hitting each other in the... uh... Milton or something, I'm kinda lost here."
"Kendo, eh?" The young man would rub his chin thoughtfully, "I've seen like a few matches on TV before. But, I'm not the most sportiest guy out there. Trust me, if these guys were talking about say, the NRL, I'd practically shower them with my knowledge of the sport. Kendo's more of a... uh... 'good background noise while I'm helping around the house' material for me."
"Well, whatever it is, I don't think we're going to get anywhere by just standing around and arguing with one another on outlets or whatever you said. " Skadi piped up once more, "I think we need to go to the Cerulean Gym to help clear our minds and set up a more proper environment there so we can learn the rules properly."
"Just one problem... our Digi-Port's a little out of juice right now. Kitt, mind whipping up one for all of us?"

In the middle of the two Kotemon’s arguing, Kitt’s ears flicked when he heard the sound of someone trudging through the snow. He turned to see a tired Kenny, who was punctuating each word with a breath. “Ehehe, sorry Sir Kenny.” He put one hand over his head, giving a nervous laugh. “Madam Skadi took off so fast and I didn’t want to lose her, especially in that crowd.” Despite that, he was glad that he was still able to keep track of the two. Otherwise, they would’ve had to drop everything and look for their human friend.
Thankfully, Kitt’s gentle approach to the situation was enough to ease the Kotemons away from each other’s throats. The last thing he wanted was to break up a fight. Not that it would be any difficult for him, but something he’d wanted to avoid since he wasn’t a confrontational Digimon.
Skadi went to explain the situation to Kenny, to which the human gave his insight on the sport of Kendo, surprisingly the two Kotemon a bit. “Ah, finally, someone that knows the rules,” the Kotemon on the right said, relived. ”Maybe you can get through to my idotic companion here since he thinks it’s all about hitting someone everywhere as hard as you can.”
“Hmph! Like you know what you’re doing.” The other Kotemon rebutted. “We only just digivolved the other day and you think you know everything there is to know about this sport? Please.”
Kitt watched the two, showing an expression of exasperation before sighing to himself. Judging by how they talked to one another, he could tell that they knew each other for a good while. Heck, from their appearance alone, one could mistake them as siblings.
With the mention of the Cerulean Gym, Kitt looked at Skadi with a raised eyebrow. “The Cerulean Gym?” He repeated. “That’s here is Y’s, correct? I’ve never been there before. But alright, let’s help these guys out.”
Both of the Kotemons’ eyes widened in surprise, looking at each other before turning back to Kitt. “Really? You’ll help us, even though we were screaming your ears out?”
Kitt smiled and nodded his head. “Of course. Our responsibility at KIZNA is to help out with any problem--big or small.”
Even though their faces were completely shadowed, the Kotemons’ glowy yellow eyes narrowed in what seemed like a joyful expression, happy that these three were going to take some time off of their evening to teach them.
With everything now set in stone, Kenny asked for the Spadamon to open up a portal to the gym, in which he happily complied. “Yes, sir!” He said, and raised his D-Nexus against the bark of a tree, and activated the Digiport function. The Kotemon would quickly grab all their gears and equipment. The portal opened completely, allowing them passage.
On the other side, the group were in front of a building embedded inside a frozen waterfall. Kitt let out a “Whoa…” in response. It was like the buildings in Rosewood which were surrounded by lush vegetation, but only this time, it was ice.
Inside, the temperature was much more warm and comfortable thanks to shimmering orange crystals scattered around the place. Kitt really preferred this instead of staying outside. The inside architect was similar to that of a temple, like the one he and Bezil went into. Even though most events of the Lux Harmony festival were open to everyone, some Digimon decide to dedicate their time to do some training. Walking further inside, there was an open vacant arena, similar to the makeshift arena the two Kotemon's made back in the open field; and it was not too big, not too small, but just enough space.

It wouldn't be like Kenny to outright lie to others, but at the same time, he didn't exactly know his way with words. Already he'd feel quite the pressure inadvertently put into place by one of the Kotemon seemingly jumping to conclusions and ready to use him as a one-way ticket to winning his squabble with his contemporary - much to the tamer's surprise.
But Skadi was quick to give Kitt a brief nod in response to his question - yes, the Cerulean Gym could be found here. The same place where Valt had helped her reach her proper Champion form for the first time, with Ophelia's assistance, to boot. Of course she'd be familiar with a place like that enough to suggest it, much to the apparent delight of the Kotemon.
And of course, Kenny couldn't resist a tiny chuckle as he gently pat the two lizardmen (lizardboys?) on the head, "Don't worry, it won't cost you a bit."
With that, the two could only stand back and watch as Kitt willingly obeyed, opening up the portal to the gym in a matter of moments, before he and the Kotemon passed through. Of course, Kenny couldn't help but watch his eagerness with a smile, "Kid's got a lot of spring in his step. Lord knows I wish I had a quarter of his energy. right now; I swear, you guys were practically made for each other."
Whump, whump, whump, whump! A blushing Skadi would keep lightly slugging Kenny's sides persistently and repeatedly, "Kenny, what part of 'we're just friends' do you not get?" She whispered to him through clenched teeth.
"Calm down, girl. Y'know I'm just teasing you." The young man would laugh again as he and Skadi stepped through Kitt's portal and to the gym.
'Whoa' was right. Perhaps Kitt wasn't exactly fully settled into Ys just yet, but he had good reason to be in awe. Kenny would let out a calm sigh and pat Kitt on the head with a smile. Sometimes, he swore he could see a bit of himself within that Spadamon at times, for better or for worse. He himself, alongside Skadi, of course, had been in KIZNA for a good while now, and even then, as he glanced at the radiating crystals, he still couldn't shake off that 'alien in another world' feeling he got every time the Digital World pulled out something new out of it's sleeves.
Skadi would be the first to chime in to the Kotemon, "So guys, do you want us to teach you, or would you like us to demonstrate first?"
"I wouldn't try challenging myself if I were you, boys." Kenny added with a wink, "I might be a little too tall for your liking."

Fortunately for Kenny and Skadi, their little squabble would not get picked up by Kitt’s ears since he had already passed through the digiport along with the Kotemon twins. But once the duo passed through however, Kitt couldn’t help but notice the remains of red blush still blooming on Skadi’s face. He wondered what the two were talking about, but decided not to press about it, thinking it was something private.
After arriving at the Cerulean Gym and finding a spot for them to practice, the Kotemon twins set their stuff down and began organizing all their gears and equipment on the floor. Kitt was surprised that a gym like this was so active, even during the city-wide festival. He’d expected everyone would be out having lots of fun, but maybe to some hardcore Digimon, getting stronger was a bit more important.
Turning to the two Kotemons, Kitt would ask an important question—a question he should have asked them since they first met them. “Oh um, this is kind of late to ask, but what are your names if you don’t mind?”
The two Kotemon turn to look at each other, then turn back at Kitt. “Oh, riiiight. I guess we forgot to introduce ourselves,” one of them said. “Sorry about that. But the name’s Chazz! Soon-to-be best Kendo master in Y’s!”
“Yeah, that’ll happen when King Hikaru finally retires,” the other Kotemon said in response to his fellow compadre’s boastful claims, sighing. “But yeah, my name is Batzz—the one who likes to play by the rules fairly."
“Ehh, are you still on about that?” Chazz questioned.
“Rightfully so,” Batzz replied. He turned to the Spadamon. “And you are, Mr. Spadamon sir?”
Kitt was a bit surprised being called "Mr" and "sir", chimed in, placing a hand on his chest. “My name is Kitt. And my two friends here are Kenny and Skadi. We’re all from KIZNA.”
Skadi would then bring up an interesting point. A point so interesting that it made both Chazz and Batzz come together and whisper among each other, whispers that not even Kitt could decipher since one of them would look back at him to make sure he wasn’t trying to eavesdrop. After a couple of moments, the two Kotemons would break, reaching an agreement.
“You guys can demonstrate if you want,” Battz said nonchalantly.
Kitt couldn’t help but tilt his head in confusion. “R-really? Just like that? No bickering or disagreements”
“Just like like.” Batzz repeated.
Hearing Kenny’s light teasing, Chazz would give a look of jealousy. “Uh-huh. Too tall with much greater reach with your long, lanky arms. I guess you’ll have the advantage over us if one of us were to face you.”
With all that said, Kitt would suddenly evolve to his Champion form, WhiteLeomon, adorne in samurai armor and black Bancho cape, which impressed the two Kotemon. Kitt then walked towards the center of the arena. The reason why he evolved without warning was partly due to his confidence increase in this form, and for another thing which he would explain shortly. Eventually, he spoke, turning around so that his words could be heard, rather than be carried forward and being drowned out by the other Digimon in the gym.
“Alright, here are the rules of Kendo.” Kitt began. “As you all know, the object of the game is to score as many points as your opponent. To score points, you must strike your opponents with a bamboo sword know as a Shinai, and you can only score by attacking one of four areas: the Men; which is the head of your opponent; the Kote, the gloves or wrists; the Do, which is the torso; and Tsuki, thrusting to the throat of your opponent.”
Kitt began pacing back and forth, feeling a bit comfortable as he tried his best to imitate Uncle Logane from when he taught him Kendo for the first time.
“If you manage to strike any one of these four areas faster than your opponent,” Kitt continued, “this will give you one Ippon, which is essentially one point. One match is basically a best of three, so scoring two ippons, the contestant wins outright, or one ippon after ten minutes since each round has a time limit of ten minutes. Sounds simple. But remember: in order for an ippon to be scored, you must show your fighting spirit by shouting the areas you are about to attack before executing said attack. So for example, if I plan to strike you in the head, I’ll yell ‘Men’.”
The White Leomon’s feet tapped the floor rhythmically as he paced around the arena. In contrast to how he was in his Rookie form, he wasn’t afraid of being overheard by the other Digimon who were probably observing.
“Lastly, always remember to maintain your zanshin, which is a fancy word for your physical and mental alertness. You have to be constantly alert and concentrating during the whole match. Any break in concentration, such as celebrating your victory in a round, or taunting will cause your ippon to be taken away. But since everyone here is still new to this, I'll be light on this rule; just don’t mock your opponent.”
Wow. That was a lot of exposition. Kitt took in a quiet inhale, before looking back at the others. “Any questions or anything that I need to go over? Because if not…”
The Leomon then placed his Blue Queen on the ground, then took his armor and banco cape off, replacing them with the basic Kendo armor set and Shinai that the Chazz and Batzz brought in.
“Madame Skadi, shall we get started?”

In what felt like to be nothing short of a miracle, despite the constant, dangerously bordering on endless, bickering, the two Kotemon brothers would actually set aside their differences for a bit to introduce themselves as Chazz and Batzz... and just taking Skadi's suggestion on board without much trouble whatsoever, much to the Valaismon's surprise.
"Well, that was... surprisingly easy." Skadi merely scratched her cheek. All things considered, she was at least expecting a bit more bickering on that front, but the fact these two were at least willing to co-operate on something did give her a bit of relief this time around.
That relief would merely be short lived, however.
Much to Skadi's alarm, which Kenny was quick to notice, his eyes quietly landing on the furiously blushing Valaismon, Kitt had, without even so much as a warning, evolved into his WhiteLeomon form - and (accidentally) caught Skadi's attention almost immediately. Her flustered nature quickly ensured that his lecture would fall upon deaf ears, as she forced herself to cover her mouth, lest she blurt out something embarrassing for the whole of Ys to hear.
For a good few moments, Kenny's eyes would switch between Kitt's lecture, and Skadi's flustered nature, before he'd wave a hand in front of the latter's face, "Hey, Earth to Skadi. We kinda need to listen to this lecture so we don't look like a bunch of jackasses in front of those guys." No response whatsoever. He tried tapping her on the head. Still nothing.
Not until the very end, at least. The moment Kitt finished up his lecture, silence would fall upon the group for a good few moments. Up until Skadi piped up, "Uh... I'll be back in a minute. There's a... Seadramon drowning in the bathroom, and I gotta go help them I'll be back in a minute I swear!" In the blink of an eye, she'd dash off to the bathroom, leaving the tamer in stunned silence.
Just shortly afterwards, loud, incoherent shouting/flustered Skadi noises could be heard coming from the bathroom door.
Well, shit. Rubbing the back of his head, Kenny would sheepishly address Kitt, chuckling awkwardly, "Sorry, Kitt. Skadi's just having one of her... things on again. I'll get her back here as soon as possible, just hold tight" With that, he'd make his way over to the bathroom as well... only to open the stall and be greeted by a swarm of cotton balls that flew over and stuck all over his body.
Once again, he'd turn back to Kitt with an awkward smile, "She's feeling a little antsy right now. This... might take a bit."

This was such an odd position for Kitt: him, finding himself taking up a somewhat leadership position to explain the rules of a sport to his companions. It was such an interesting experience for him, one that he felt a comfort in doing. Besides, who else was going to explain the proper rules of Kendo to two Kotemon who thought the game was about who could hit someone the hardest?
As he paced himself back and forth slowly, letting his words carry him, a memory flashed in the back of his mind, the day when Uncle Logane taught him and Eris the rules of Kendo. At first, being the shy lion cub that he was (and still is), he was apprehensive of participating. He was afraid of getting hurt or accidentally hurting Eris despite wearing protective gear. He remembered hiding behind the little Gigimon after Logane was done explaining the rulesBut when the BanchoLeomon demonstrated with Eris’s cousin Vivian, and then eventually Eris with another mon, he slowly began to see that nobody was out to hurt each other, but were instead having fun.
So when it was finally his turn, Eris had already digivolved to her Rookie form so she’d be on an equal footing with the Spadamon. He was still nervous, but seeing the Black Guilmon-X give a toothy grin made the Spadamon smile as well. She won, but all that mattered to Kitt was that he had fun.
So when the White Leomon finished his lecture, he hoped that what he said wasn’t too difficult to follow as he himself knew it was a lot to take in. The Kotemons gave a nod of understanding, giving an “Aye, aye, sir!” as they prepared for their match. This gave Kitt a ton of relief.
Skadi on the other hand, met him with silence for a couple of moments before she dashed off, saying that there was a Seadramon drowning in the bathroom, surprising Kitt.
Now if there was a sign of someone in trouble, Kitt would have dashed off alongside with Skadi, but something was, to put it bluntly, off. A Seadramon... struggling to swim…in a toilet…? The mere image alone made the White Leomon’s cheeks blow up from trying to hold back laughing.
That moment however, would soon fade as they heard Skadi shouting from the bathroom door. “Wh-What’s happening in there?!” Kitt exclaimed in concern. Kenny then explained that she was having some sort of an episode, as evidenced by the swarm of cotton balls that stuck all over his friend’s body.
“One of her...things?” He repeated, turning his attention to the bathroom door. Come to think of it, right as she dashed off, he noticed a tinge of red glowing on her face. Was it something he said, or did?
Kitt’s mouth opened and closed a few times before returning his attention to Kenny. “Right...well, um, if it’s alright with you, do you mind staying here until she gets better, Sir Kenny,” he asked. “I would stay here alongside you as well until she comes out, but I don’t think our restless friends over there would want me to keep them waiting.”
“Come on, Mr. Kitt! We’re ready to go!” Chazz blurted out, getting a little impatient.
“Yes, please. I cannot help getting more excited about trying out Kendo properly,” Batzz concurred.
“Oops! Here I come, sorry about that!” Kitt said, walking over to them, before stopping one more time to say something to Kenny. “At least you have back row seats to all of this until it’s me and Madam Skadi’s turn.”
Saying Skadi’s name made the White Leomon blush a bit. If Kenny was lucky, he would see a little bit of it before making his way.
Coming back to the small arena, Kitt picked up two flags--a white one and a red one, corresponding to the ribbons worn on their sleeves, and stood in the middle of the ring. The two Kotemon began their walk towards each other from the otherside of the ring. They stopped, bowing their heads to one another and crouching at the start line. The two then draw their Shinai.
Seeing the anticipation in their eyes, Kitt waved both flags down to begin the match.
“Hajime!”
