Stacy was wandering the streets of Ys in what was called, if the directions on her map were accurate, the Educative and Self Improvement District. As she walked she occasionally double and even triple checked the map to make extra sure she was in the right place. She had heard of a way to make money and all she had to do was sing. No problem, right. After all she had long gotten over her stage fright from her childhood years and even had a decent singing voice to work with to boot since that was one of the gifts she inherited from her mother but Stacy was humble about this talent.
Coming up to the place various digimon and humans were taking turns singing with various degrees of talent unfortunately a couple of the singers were not only not humble but sounded worse than nails on a chalkboard but the crowd took everything in stride. Though not found of crowds in the least Stacy was able to remain calm and not freak out running by taking multiple calming breaths while waiting patiently for her turn to sing. Now what to sing was the question. As the line moved at a sedate pace Stacy had thought of three songs she was found of and as she got closer she gradually narrowed the three choices to two and then when she was about to her turn after a Tentomon she had finally made her decision. Sure it was old compared to some humans that came to the Digital World but to her she still felt as if it was one of those songs that fit her to a tee.
As Tentomon finished her song and flew away from the stage Stacy climbed her way onto stage and stood behind the microphone. After hearing some giggles it seemed she had forgotten to choose a song on a nearby karaoke machine so she swiftly sprinted to it and luckily the song she wanted was one of the many songs available. After making her choice she made her way back to the microphone again at a mellower pace before taking ahold of it waiting for the song to begin while taking deep breaths. She knew she could do this and the large crowd was not going to bother her once she got started and she knew it. Soon the songs opening instrumental began and she took a deep breath to begin.
Look at me
You may think you see
Who I really am
But you'll never know me
Every day
It's as if I play a part
Now I see
If I wear a mask
I can fool the world
But I cannot fool my heart
Who is that girl I see
Staring straight back at me?
When will my reflection show
Who I am inside?
I am now
In a world where I
Have to hide my heart
And what I believe in
But somehow
I will show the world
What's inside my heart
And be loved for who I am
Who is that girl I see
Staring straight back at me?
Why is my reflection
Someone I don't know?
Must I pretend that I am
Someone else for all time?
When will my reflection show
Who I am inside?
There's a heart that must be
Free to fly
That burns with a need to know
The reason why
Why must we all conceal
What we think, how we feel?
Must there be a secret me
I'm forced to hide?
I won't pretend that I'm
Someone else for all time
When will my reflection show
Who I am inside?
When will my reflection show
Who I am inside?
After her performance of Christina Aguilera's Reflection, Stacy smiled and walked off the stage. After some of the really bad perfomances she and Tentomon were a surprising breath of fresh air and inspired some other great singers who were too shy before to come up and sing despite them likely needing money.
After an hour of hanging around the crowd was starting to get to Stacy as it was now much bigger than it was when she got there so she decided she wouldn't go up and sing again. Making her way out of the crowd she brought out her map again and decided to make her way to a restaurant to fill her now rumbling stomach as it seemed her appetite was making its presence known and was not going to wait much longer. As she left the district she couldn't help but sing Reflection once again for herself as she had gotten the song stuck in her head so she figured one more time before she ate couldn't hurt but her voice was quieter as it was just for her this time.
