Posts, please.
The two sisters’ pilgrimage had gone through yet another milestone; by now, the two had reached Snowflake’s surroundings. Of course, neither were a fan of settlements, so they decided to not quite reach the city and instead camp a fair distance away from it.
They began to go through the tried and true procedures of campcraft; preparing the ground, beginning to unpack, and setting up the tent. Nothing out of the ordinary, thus far! Or, well, at least until Mana stared at the empty plot of land where they’d erect their temporary home. “Hey, Nami-chan, are you sure you don’t want to make this one a contest? It could be pretty fun; who’s the best interior designer!”
Two things were fairly obvious from that declaration. The first one, of course, was that Mana didn’t really feel the need to speak in her usual, grandiose tone; this was usually the case when the two sisters were alone and the task at hand was rather mundane in nature. Truthfully, speaking that way could get tiresome at times! Not everything had to be conveyed in such aroundabout glorious way, after all. The second one, of course, was that this one could become yet another battlefield for the twins to test their mettle against the other. Out of those sixty-nine contests, Nami had won twenty-three, Mana had won twenty-three, and they had tied twenty-three times as well; it was usually the older sister the one who proposed to convert any kind of otherwise normal act into a competition, and if her sister agreed, then the two would face off.
However, this time would be different. In fittingly slow, yet firm motion, Nami shook her head. “Denial. While finding out who possesses the finer taste would be a fitting way to duel Mana-chan, I’m afraid we don’t have an impartial party to act as judge, and I don’t trust such a duty to any of the filth that inhabits the nearby village. It’ll be for the better if we hold off this clash for a more situation occasion, don’t you think?”
As Mana began to embed into the ground the stakes that’d hold the pavilion in place, she gave her sister a nod. “Well, that makes sense at the very least. You’re right about the nearby village; none would be qualified enough to rate first-grade taste. It’d be like offering two wines of superb quality to somebody unable to appreciate the different notes in each, or even discern the wood in which each was aged.” A shrug followed suit. “Shall we go for a week at most, then?”
A massive parchment flew into the air. It was very detailed, and adorned with various precious rocks, fabrics, and materials of high quality. Gently, it landed atop the foundation laid by Mana, forming a beautiful tent. “Affirmation. We’re not looking to remain here for too long, anyway. This place seems far from optimal, but it will do for the time being.”
“Alright, Nami-chan! I’m all fired up already, so let’s begin!” Setting up their temporary residence was something the two sisters had done countless times, and as such they had devised various configurations depending on how much they planned to stay in a single location; the main differentiating factor on them, however, was how much space was given to Nami’s workshop. The longer they planned to remain in any given point, the more the younger sister allowed herself to ‘unpack’; this meant giving room to more complex tools and various ongoing projects, not to say procuring an acceptable power supply if needed. Least to say, when they were just passing by, only of the simplest of projects and tools were unpacked, if any; their residence became mostly a living and recreational area.
Of course, simplicity didn’t have to mean austerity, especially when dealing with Mana. Regardless of the situation, she always unpacked a good deal of her cherished musical instruments, plus the necessary equipment most of them needed to operate! Amplifiers, supports, cleaning and maintenance tools were among all the things she always brought with herself. She loved the creative process; and that also meant she had assumed the duty of decorating the tent as she saw fit, and was consigned as the responsible of keeping the sisters’ wardrobe to date. That enough was a pretty lengthy list of things to unpack into the newly placed tent.
However, everything became orderline in the short window of time that only practiced efficiency could allow. Least to say, the insides were astoundingly impressive for what could be considered a temporary residence. Long carpets, made out of the hides of exotic beasts and combined together into beautiful patterns decorated the floor, while precious stones decorated the walls and acted as autonomous sources of light that could be turned out and on at will, almost as if they had life on their own! Of course, Mana’s instruments were perfectly ordered atop a small stage, each of them standing on their respective supports, which they themselves stood atop a small stage.
If Mana’s instruments occupied her half of their temporary home, what was in Nami’s? Admittedly, her half was a lot less striking; diverse scrolls and paintings adorned the walls of her half, all while a massive, multi-layered desk occupied the brunt of her space. Various drawings, paintings, manuscripts, scores, embroideries, carvings among others occupied the diverse layers, each in a different step of completion. These were deemed as her minor projects, and were mostly things she partook into when there weren’t any other alternatives to pass time. They tended to be completed fairly quickly, the finished product finding its way to the tent’s structure or contents in one way or the other.
As it would be fitting, the bed occupied the middle point of the room, and was considered shared space. It was probably big enough to fit ten or so average-sized humans, even though it seldom had more than two at the same time. A quality product, even though not outwardly showy like the rest of the room; mostly because it was deemed of something of low, yet obligatory circumstance. It came without much of a question that neither sister was a fan of spending time idly.
However, they were done for the day. Nami was the first to change into a pair of pajamas diving into the sheets. “Query. Is Mana-chan coming? Tomorrow will be a long day, so it is in our best interests to be well-rested.”
“Give me a sec, Nami-chan. Where did I put this thing…” The girl seemed to be searching for something, even though she was having a hard time finding it; it was only after she gazed to her sister’s desk that she found it. “Oh, there it is!” She retrieved a Gigimon plushy before going through the same motions as her sister.
“Clarification. Mana-chan told me some of the sewing got ripped, so I planned to fix it while we were here.”
“I forgot.” A soft giggle followed suit. “I’ll give him back tomorrow. Anyway, that’s all for us today. Good night, Nami-chan.”
“Farewell. Good night, Mana-chan.”
