You walked, through a strange landscape that looked like a vast horizon of flowers, each shined at your feet as you goes. You thought that this place couldn't be there... after all, why? You have traversed this land, and you swore that these kind of flowers wouldn't be able to grew up here, where the snow falling ceaselessly. You saw crystalline trees, or more like crystals that embedded and entwined with tree, almost like epoxy resin art, except with exruciating details, as if the crystals itself.
As you walked further and further, you noticed what looked like fireflies, except they're more like wisps, flying all around you, as if trying to greet you. As you try to touch them, you felt something resoating within your heart. Something warm, but also melancholic. Then, you saw it... a ruin of a gate. You can no longer see the symbol on top of it, as that part has crumbled off, but you could see the intristic designs on the marbles.
But then, that's when you noticed that you're in fact, not alone in here.
"Oh my, now that's a rare sight. Are you new?" a lupine Digimon asked you. She's probably not even that tall compared to you. She's wearing an eyepatch over her left eye. Her clothes looked close to mix between Kimono and something western. The most notable thing is the three Nihonto of differing lengths on her waist. You attempted to raise your Digivice to scan her, but before you could, she stopped you.
"Don't do that, young one. It can be taken as a sign of aggression."
You apologized to her, telling her that your reason to be here, in this place. You introduced yourself to her.
"I see, that's a nice name... and a nice reasons indeed. It must have been cold. Why don't you come closer? There's a fire here. And food if so you want."
What she offered you is chilli cocktail sausage. Yes, cocktail sausages in chilli. You noted that while it's spicy, it's not as spicy as the color made it out to be. You could taste faint taste of herbs. Quite smoky, hearty meal. The Digimon also offered you a boiled potato on a plate with spoon. "Pour your chilli there," she suggested "it would taste much better.". You did, and indeed, it does indeed tastes better. "Don't be shy to ask for seconds. That's the best I could do for visitor like you."
Upon hearing the word visitor, you asked if she's a local.
"Local... yes, I did not born here, but I have called this place home... years and years ago. Perhaps it would have been close to seventy years for you humans? For the Digimons... how many years ago it was? Fufu, I sort of forgot already! It's been too long, yes."
You asked to her if she doesn't mind to tell you the story of this place.
"This place, you ask? ...Let's see..." She took a gulp of her apple tea. The lupine Digimon exhaled once she felt the warmth spreads all over her body.
"There was once a king, A wise and strong king indeed, although those who hates or scoffed at his ideal him would call him a dreamer king, or a clown. Said king found a kingdom in a piece of land... along with so many friends. His ideal was... to create a harmony between this world, and your world. A mutual growth if so you please. His desire is... if the human could find his words inspiring... if the Digimon would carry on his ideal to the future, then it's all for the best. The king preached for equal chance of grabbing happiness. None of us are born equal, if you think about it. There's always those that rolled a lucky dice, there are those who rolled an unfortunate number. But still, the king wished that even if the start is different, the chance to fix that number, or get it higher, will be equal.
And so, he created this city... the biggest academia city back then during its age. It was a very meritocratic city, which, he hopes, would show people that a change, no matter how small, is possible."
Then you asked what makes the city falls. The lupine Digimon chuckled.
"Unfortunately, mortal utopia does not exist. Sometimes the world is kind of cruel. In case something is strong, then another stronger force would be able to destroy it. This city fell, like any other cities. Even the strongest shield could be penetrated, they said. In that ensuing battle, the king evacuated his people and did a final stand. He and his trusted allies that is."
You looked pensive for a moment, but before you could ask the continuation, the Lupine Digimon continued.
"His sacrifice bought time for his people, to escape, to run. When the war was over, unfortunately what was left was this, a complete ruin of their home. The heroes have perished, along with their enemies. What are left, are those."
Ahead of you, where she pointed, are a garden, facing waterfalls, where you saw countless of weapons acting as gravemarker. They're stabbed on a pedestals. There are broken digivices close to it. You noticed that the lupine Digimon is carrying a bouquet of flower.
"He was a foolish father, that king... yet incredibly gentle. Even now, houndreds and even nearly a thousand years later since that day, I could still hear his voice. Sometimes there were times I felt like a child again on his lap, as he reads to me tales of heroism and spirit of caring."
She gently laid the bouquet on the grave and smiled. You noticed the plaque.
"...The king might have passed, but... his hope for better future lives on. Just like Dandelions, yes." the lupine Digimon gently touched your shoulder, and you suddenly noticed that you have teleported, far from the city, somewhere different. Somewhere that's still cold, yet at the same time different. What lies in front of your eyes is something similar that you saw before, but perhaps much more futuristic. It was such a clean energy place, with emphasis on water and light structures.
"Oh right, I forgot to introduce myself, didn't I? My name is Jill... I'm the Grand Councilwoman of this city... welcome, to the second academia city of Digital World. We call this city... Neo Arcadia."
