Zack set Mae-Mae down with the backpack, much to Mae-Mae's delight. While she would have preferred Zack to do the running away for her she was more than ready to demonstrate how to properly flee.
"Yes! Ok! So, the first step in properly escaping bad situations is to-"
Then he approached the hive. Mae-Mae watched Zack stroll casually up, and it made the lopmon shake her head, shuffling after him very cautiously.
"No no, that's the wrong way. We need to run away from there. Here, it's easy, you just-"
He then hefted the tied up Fanbeemon in both hands. Mae-Mae looked up in wide-eyed disbelief, then back to the friendly fanbeemon, as if for assistance.
"No! Not like that! They might see him! Just set him down quietly like you did with me! I know you can do it, just, quiiiietly-"
Then Zack just chucked it, overhand, with enough force to crash clear through one of the hive's first story windows. Mae-Mae stared in open-mouthed disbelief as Zack did everything wrong. It was like he was looking for a fight!
"Hey! Whoever's in there, you and I need to have a very long, very unpleasant CHAT!"
He was! He was still looking for a fight! Mae-Mae shook her head, looking between the hive and Zack and back again in absolute confusion. He had been the one chastising Mae-Mae for her suggestions, that were maybe a tiny bit violent, just for him to go full mob boss!
"NO! No no no! If you wanted to fight you should have let us sneak into better spots before dooooing that! And if you wanted to talk you definitely shouldn't have done-!"
Flymon's voice bellowed out and silenced Mae-Mae entirely "You must be either exceptionally brave, human...or ungodly stupid."
Mae-Mae wouldn't audibly agree, she did owe her life to that very stupidity. But she didn't disagree with that statement. With the appearance of the horrific giant bee, Mae-Mae would flee, arms out, screaming. "This has all gone horrrrorrrrrorrriiibly wrooooong!" she squealed as she scurried back into the backpack.

"I'm exactly as stupid as I need to be to give you a piece of my mind..." he said as dark shapes began to pour out of every open surface in the hive, FanBeemon in the dozens at least that filled the air with their hostile buzzing until they were floating, hovering there in a dome around them that blotted out most of the sunlight that was fading already when they got here, the sun winking down over the edge of the hilly horizon. In a few short moments they would all be plunged into the darkening twilight as the day slipped past, moment by moment. Zack moved like a man on a mission, turning at the waist and pointing one hand at Marigold. "That...is my daughter. I found her abandoned, starving, scared most of the way toward death! And when I took her in a SWORE to myself that I would track down the bastards responsible and let them know exactly how I felt about it. Lo and behold when we stumble upon a FanBeemon, out to cannibalize his fellow digimon, who taunts my daughter. Tells her she was too weak. She was left behind. So...here is me, living up to my promise, looking you dead in the eye and demanding that you answer for your sins." he said, as if a knight looking up against the walls of a corrupted castle, looking into the eyes of the evil villain who had vexed him so.
"And...that is all?" The bellowing queen insect said, sounding more amused than anything at his demands. "it is simplicity itself, little human. My hive only has room for the strongest, for the ravenous and the worthy. Your...pitiful little runt simply was not worthy enough of the resources that she-" She tried to "explain" only to be fully cut off.
"SHE IS NOT A PACKAGE! You do not get to refuse to sign for a CHILD simply because you refuse to take responsibility for them! You do not get to chew up and spit out the children who rely on you at your own predatory whims!" He said, his voice becoming louder, harsher, like steel scraping broken glass.
Marigold stood, her legs extended over the backpack, shielding Mae-Mae from any approach by the swarm, her eyes darting back and forth to her "brothers and sister."

"I'm exactly as stupid as I need to be to give you a piece of my mind..." Zack was proclaiming his stupidity proudly, whilst Mae-Mae tried her best to squirm back into the backpack. She managed to get back in, much to her joy, and the proccess of turn around the pack so her head was facing outward could begin. "Y-Yeah! This humon is really stupid! Dangerously stupid! Y-you better watch out!" Mae-Mae cheered from the sidelines, likely missing much of the would-be-hero's point.
"That...is my daughter. I found her abandoned, starving, scared most of the way toward death!" He continued, while Mae-Mae considered if she should take the backpack and run now, or after the fight really got started. "Hmm... I'm already in the bag, I dont wanna ruin it..." she's pondered aloud, then looked around as if she missed her cue "Yeah! He also find Mae-Mae like that! But... not as sad! He's real good at finding scared digimon though, and he found you! That means you're scared! We should reconsider this whooooole thing on account of how ahscared we all are, we-we have so much in common!" Mae-Mae chimed in, her sideline commentary likely falling on deaf. enraged. ears.
"And when I took her in a SWORE to myself that I would track down the bastards responsible and let them know exactly how I felt about it. Lo and behold when we stumble upon a FanBeemon, out to cannibalize his fellow digimon-" Zack recounted and Mae-Mae perked up, from her shelter sack "Yeah, that wasn't nice! He didn't even wanna be friends! Mae-Mae offered food and everything! If you wanted to eat digimon so bad, eat a digimon your own size, not Mae-Mae sized!" Mae-Mae 'advised' from "her" bunker bag.
"-who taunts my daughter. Tells her she was too weak. She was left behind." Mae-Mae didn't understand how that worked exactly. Sumi implied humons and digimons weren't the same, and they definitely didn't smell the same. But if this Fanbeemon was his kid, then there had to be some kind of connection! Sumi even laid and egg... 'And he was super wrong! She tackled him straight into a wall! Like ka-blow! Then she shot honey in his face, and he was like 'ahhrrrggiii I'll get you for that!' and then this humon kicked him in the teeth, tied him up, and now we're here! They're tougher than they look, ya know! They're like... as tough as you look! Maybe even tougher! YOU should give US some food so WE can be YOUR friends!" Mae-Mae tried her best to bluff. She was quite certain Flymon was just going to gobble this guy up, then she'd have to stop the Fanbeemon from avenging him like a dummy. They could just go to the village of begingins and find him again!
They weren't even that far.
"So...here is me, living up to my promise, looking you dead in the eye and demanding that you answer for your sins." This all definitely was a revenge thing. For all his talk about not answering violence with violence, he certainly seemed real eager to answer non-violence with violence. Mae-Mae was about to point this out, but it was at this time she noticed the shadow produced by the Fanbeemon horde, a presence that would definitely hinder her plans to just outrun the cumbersome champion bee... "Oh... U-uhm... H-Hey! Mae-Mae h-has some leftovers..." She mumbled, looking back into the bag she was occupying. She'd put her own bag in here, mostly to serve as cushion against all of Zackhumon's sharper things. Any food was definitely crushed, no question. But they didn't know that...
Flymon and Zackhumon argued. Loudly. Something about packaging. Wasn't this about alimony? Or revenge? Mae-Mae had lost track of the "why" she was here or "what" this was about anymore. She started to deeply reconsider her decision to come along, since this was going to bleed into a fight! And she had been trying to avoid a fight from the very start! It only dawned on her now that she shouldn't have gone with the costumed heroes who went around LOOKING for fights if she wanted to AVOID fighting...
"Mae-Mae may have made a mistake..."

Zack wasn't here to wreck the house and tear it down around the hive's ears. He really wasn't. All he was really doing in that moment was venting the hot steam that had been bubbling up inside of him at the injustice of Marigold's treatment. he wouldn't have thrown a single punch or kick if he didn't have to. He had said all that he needed to say, hell, if the Flymon had told him "eff you and the horse you rode in on" in that moment, Zack would probably pick up the backpack with Mae-Mae inside, tell Marigold to come along and leave well enough alone for now. The violent cannibal digimon was stopped for the moment and that was the only part that got him to even think violent thoughts in the first place.
That wasn't what happened though, what happened was instead was the swarm beginning to move in closer, the hemisphere above and around them constricting with a growing sound of electronic static as their wings beat the air around them. Zack's stance got tighter, more ready, though he still prayed that this wouldn't devolve. Maybe it was inevitable when you show up and break the windows of a cannibalistic cult and start taking them to task for their morality. The queen Flymon had something to say though, holding up one hand and seeming to snicker at the bravado of this little morsel standing at her doorstep.
"Well, it seems I have figured you out after all. You ARE a stupid little thing, but stupidity or not, you three will make a nice, light meal for my hungry swarm...." She began ducking her head back into the cubby hole made in the roof of the building, only turning back as an after thought. "Oh yes, um, kill them all." She said, the swarm beginning to close in. it was too much, too many all at once. They'd get torn apart for scraps, divided between the swarm like a single chocolate bar for an entire school class. But Zack, defiant to the end, only raised his head to shout.
"Is this how you want to LIVE?!" He said, the contraction of the hemisphere pausing, if only for a moment. It might have been a taunting gesture, giving the crazy idiot his last words but no matter the reason, he had their ears. "Is THIS the only life you can imagine living? Being used up and thrown out like so much replaceable garbage when she says so? To, be left to scavenge and scrounge just to keep yourselves alive while paying a fat chunk of what little you have to her? Being used to extract as much of other people as you can until you wither up and she tosses you out?" He says, his voice pleading, nearly begging for the insect digimon to see reason, to see themselves as more than some collective whole that can be wrung for the value they can steal. "To be told to toss out your own children, your brothers and sisters, leaving them to starve because she can't be bothered to care?" He said, looking up at the swarm, the glint from his visor just barely visible from the small twinkling of moon and starlight through the cracks in the dome.
"I'm living proof that you don't have to live this way..." Marigold said, still clutching herself tightly to the outline of the backpack Mae-Mae was using as a hiding place. "Look around you. Imagine what you could accomplish if you worked for each other instead of making her fatter and stronger!" She said, pointing an accusatory claw at the hole that the Flymon had vanished into.
Everything...paused. The buzzing became softer as the entire swarm slowly lowered themselves, breaking the dome above to reveal the navy blue night sky overhead. Suddenly the trio was standing in the center of a vast, murmuring mob of the bee digimon.
"We work so hard and still go hungry..." "Tossing out our own kids just because she says so..." "Dozens of us and only one of her..." "...about time we made our own home..." "...getting sick and tired..." The murmuring wafted over the trio at its center, letting them feel the shifting of the tide.

This wasn't good. The opportunity for running away had gone with the arrival of the swarm. Mae-Mae couldn't see how many there were, but she didn't need to when she could hear them. There as at least ten! That was basically three bees for each person at minimum, and while Mae-Mae was certain she could outpace them, she would have to abandon the maniacal humon, his daughter the hero bee, and their bag of goodies! None of these were ideal, some less ideal than others.
When Mae-Mae couldn't run, she knew she had to fight. The problem here was that there was definitely no fighting enough bees to make that much noise. The collective shadow they cast made Mae-Mae believe there were definitely out numbered by more than a factor of ten.
"What are we gonna do..." Mae-Mae mumbled to herself, looking up at the hovering honey bee above her backpack sheathed body with concern.
Then. Zack-humon began to rant. His words made Mae-Mae's ears slowly perk up to hear them better. To parse through what he was saying with absolute accuracy.
Yes! Mae-Mae thought to herself. Yeeeeeess!!! Lesson number 5! If you're outnumbered beyond your abilities, start a riot!
Mae-Mae stared up the gathered bees, squirmingout from under the shadow of her savior bee and he backpack shelter: "They're right, ya know!" Mae-Mae would declare, stumbling out of the sack, and tugged it along with her by her leg caught in a strap. "There are sooooo many of you! What's goin' on? Why aren't you makin' your own food?" Mae-Mae asked the crowd. "Rosewood City did that, and it started with way less digimon! You gotta big shelter, lots of digimon to divide work between..." Mae-Mae listed off, waddling forward only to trip on the bag stuck around her small leg.
It wouldn't stop her from continuing. Mae-Mae fished into the bag for her secret weapon... "Behold!" Mae-Mae held up the leftover lunch from earlier. "This food was found by just them two! There's like... at least three times as many of you! You don't gotta be hungry! You don't gotta eat digimon! There's way more food than there is digimon! Why would you choose them over real food, anyway?" Mae-Mae pondered.
Mae-Mae was a worldly digimon. She knew a pyramid scheme when she saw one. Digimon ate other digimon for power. That Flymon was telling her minions to go eat digimon to get stronger, then, she'd probably eat those digimon, so she didn't have to actually go out and risk herself...
"Was it just cuz that Flymon said so?" Mae-Mae asked sincerely. "Why would all of you listen to the one digimon that has you all starving?" Mae-Mae shook her head, ears swaying lightly side to side. "Mae-Mae may look small and delicious? But even Mae-Mae also knows a bad deal when she sees one."

"You can live for each other...lifting one another up like you should have been doing all along..." he said, really orating for the audience, turning his voice into an idealistic bellow that was clearly coming directly from his soul. What these Fanbeemon were doing for the sake of one greedy warlord was clearly breaking his heart. "Look are you. To your left...and your right. These are your brothers and sisters. Are you going to keep sacrificing them for the illusion of safety that she is providing you?" he pointed up at the hole in the roof, drawing to the end of his speech, letting Mae-Mae give her incredibly cute turn on things. Out of the mouths of babes. Hearing the cold hard logic from a child really did hit right at the center of the issue with zero room for argument. The crowd grew silent, totally stock still, looking back and forth between one another. An air of quiet falling over the field until finally...
"YEA! They're right! Who the hell is she to send us out, getting blood on our stingers so that she can suck up the data we bring back and leave us right where we started!" One of the FanBeemon bolted up, hovering above the crowd, becoming a firebrand, someone that the crowd knew, someone they trusted who could further stoke the frames of what was basically a revolution in the making. A cheer ran up along the shape of the crowd, following the conclusion of the speech, everybody in the field turning to face the makeshift hive. "WE WANT OUR SHARE!" The leading FanBeemon shouted, a shout that soon became a chant, the towering voice of people who were sick and tired of being sick and tired "OUR SHARE! OUR SHARE! OUR SHARE!" The chant was enough to make the ground shake underneath them, nearly masking the added weight of something beginning to stir in that massive hole through the roof. That massive, spiney insect digimon silenced the crowd with a roar, looking down over her revolting "subjects"
"How dare you?! You are NOTHING without me! I am your queen! Your sovereign! And I will show you what becomes of those who dare speak to me of "their share"!" She said, her eyes darting over the crowd only to find Mae-Mae in the chaos, narrowing her eyes on the smallest agitator. "Deadly sting!" She howled, bringing her stinger to bear and launching a spear length stinger as if out of a cannon directly at Mae-Mae.
"NO!" Zack shouted, taking off into a jolt as the rest of the crowd stood in stunned, unknowing silence. The stinger audible tore against the golden leather jacket, ripping along the side of his chest and stomach and sending him spinning into the grass and dirt only a few inches from Mae-Mae.
Marigold simply stared, watching her father. Seemingly unmoving, unbreathing, blood beginning to drool from the stinger wound making long, thickly painted streaks of crimson on the grass. Mae-Mae could see his face, see the grimace of his expression, listen to the panting of his unsteady breathing, even hear him cursing at the stinging running up his spine. Marigold, evidently, could not see any of those things.
"You...YOU!" She turned, staring Flymon so dead in the eye with an icy rage that made even the malicious insect matriach pause and flinch. "I'm going to rip you apart....I'M GOING TO RIP YOU APART!" She said, her shape swallowed in a ball of light, shifting, morphing up onto two legs, deadly, merciless spikes and claws all over her body. Standing at the center of the crowd now as a huffing, snarling Stingmon, her blood red eyes steadied on Flymon as she jerked into the air.

Things will going well. Who would have thought that there was a bee who held the same ideas Team Mae-Mae was putting out there! As far as Mae-Mae was concerned this was an absolute win. With the bees dead set on beevolution, the trio could make a timely escape in the ensuing chaos! No harm, no foul. They didn't even take the lunch!
The tiny rabbit digimon dusted off her hands over a job well done as the rising chants of a fair food wage rung out into the coming evening air. "I'm helping." She nodded definitively, then spun on her heels to retrieve the backpack. She'd hum to herself merrily whilst she worked on fitting the lunch back into the travel pack. Mae-Mae stopped this activity only once, Flymon's furious tirade sending a shiver of fear up her spine and looked over she shoulder at the fearsome bug. Now was the time to go. The bunny hastened her packing.
"Deadly sting!" rung out through the cries of fair sharing, the sound of the attack name caused Mae-Mae to jolt up, her ears lifting high. That sounded like it was being yelled at her.
"NO!" Zack's voice carried over the crowd as well, it got Mae-Mae's attention. "Oh! Nono, don't worry, Mae-Mae wasn't gonna eat this one!" Mae-Mae tried to explain in the fleeting moments before Zack's body was impaled in the side, sending him into a spinning launch, the body landing just a few feet from the the stunned rookie.
"Wh-why..." Mae-Mae mumbled in disbelief. She blinked at the still body, her ears swooping past her as Marigold took to the air with phenomenal speed. Mae-Mae looked back to where the digimon had been and deduced she'd just digivolved...
What... were these two?!
Mae-Mae looked between the two fighters and waddled at speed over to the wounded Zack, dragging the backpack behind her. "Hey! Hey! Are you ok? It-it's gonna be ok! Mae... Mae-Mae has band-aids!" Mae-Mae cried desperately, stumbling slightly, large pools of tears already starting to form in her eyes "It'll-It'll be ok! Ok? Just be ok!.
Mae-Mae stumbled right up to the prone body of Zack and gasped at the sight of his slight writhing. "You are ok!" she exclaimed. "Ok! Don't move! The bunny ordered sternly, as if she expected Zack to in a position to do anything but lie still. Mae-Mae will help..." Mae-Mae mumbled, rooting through the backpack so she could get to her own knapsack, which she pulled out with some difficulty, sending the rookie tumbling over herself backwards, forcing her to come to her feet and hurriedly waddle back toward Zack's body.
Mae-Mae winced at the sight of the horrible stinger lodged in his body. "I don't think I have band-aids that big..." Mae-Mae mumbled, then began searching her own pack for the mostly crushed box of bandages. Indeed, she only had tiny ones, meant for small splinters and other negligible wounds. This visibly upset the digimon, who began to tear up and start crying at the realization. "It-It's ok! Ok? Mae-Mae'll just..." Mae-Mae protested, as she struggled to stick the tiny circular bandages together, clearly trying to make a bigger bandage from the accumulated parts.
The lack of success in this only brought more tears to Mae-Mae's eyes. "Th-This wouldn't have-! None of this would have! If you just listened to Mae-Mae..." Mae-Mae glanced at her knapsack. Then to the body of Zack. Then back to her bag, then back to Zack's bleeding body. Her whole face furrowed at the thought running through her head. She didn't like it. "W-Wait right here!" Mae-Mae ordered, then picked up her own bag.
Mae-Mae held it there in her hands. Even with the slight tear it was her bag. It held all her things! All her souvenirs, all her food, her things! She glanced back to Zack laying on the ground...
Mae-Mae thinks this is a dumb idea. Mae-Mae is going because Mae-Mae is really good at running away! So, when you realize that this is a bad idea, Mae-Mae will be here to save you, like you saved Mae-Mae...
Mae-Mae's memories pressed against her conscience. The bunny shut her eyes tightly. With a weeping, warbling cry and a sharp twist of her head, she tore her knapsack open. The contents fell to the ground. What was left of her leftovers, small toys and trinkets, her grappling hook. Mae-Mae wept through puffed up cheeks, trying to stifle audible sobbing as she got down onto her knees.
Removing the stinger was the next task. Quite difficult for Mae-Mae, who wrapped her whole body around it and couldn't get it to budge. She wiped the tears from her eye, glared at the oversized needle that was responsible for her having to rip her bag. "B-Big... D-Dumb..." she bubbled with fury, and wound up her ear. "Lop Punch!" She slammed an ordinarily soft, fluffy ear into the thing, knocking it free with little more effort.
Mae-Mae then sat, a furious, whimpering pile of rabbit which began to attempt to get at Zack's wound, trying to figure out where to start taking off his jacket, wiping her tears away with her ears every so often. "O-Ok. We're doing ok. Ok? Just gotta-" Mae-Mae was clearly lost with the article of human clothing. "Uhm... Mae... Mae-Mae needs help..." she mumbled gently through her tears.

Marigold let out a blood curdling screech as she launched off into the air toward the queen Flymon. The hulking insectoid matriarch visibly flinched just before the collision of that armored green body directly against her face. A world ending CRASH sounded through the air as Marigold grabbed hold of her, digging in with those cruel claws and smashing them both, momentum barely slowing, through the back of the rooftop throne room of the hive, sending dust and splinters of rubble twirling through the air into a pile behind the hive-house.
The queen Flymon tried to spread out her glittering purple wings only for Marigold to reach out, grasping around her opponent's midsection and squeezing tightly, maliciously, snarling and ranting to her victim as they both hit the ground with a dirt shaking thud.
"Hell Squeeze!" She shouted, picking up the Flymon out of the dust cloud, still holding her around the waist. The carapace of the fly digimon queen looked to buckle and bend under the incredible strain of her grip, the sound of her breath being forced out in a single violent gasp that was followed by a harsh, sharp CRACK as something inside of the queen digimon broke or shattered under the onslaught. Marigold didn't let up though, not for a second. She let the queen drop, reaching out and grabbing her by the face, whipping her back and forth over her head to slam her down into the ground. Once...twice...nearly a dozen times on each side she slammed the queen digimon into the floor, kicking up rumbling dirt clouds. The Flymon didn't even have the room to scream.
Zack looked up, softly cursing as he clutched at the spot in his side where the stinger had carved its way inside, the gnarled, dark purple surface looking toxic to the eyes, let alone what it must have felt like to be driven so deeply into his body. Blood poured down over it, soaking into the liner of his jacket and almost seeming to slowly dye the golden material crimson from the inside out. He looked up at Mae-Mae, seeing her trembling, quaking at the thought of him not being alright. He was able to croak, to wheeze out a few words.
"I...it's ok, Mae-Mae...d-don't cry..." he said, trying to reassure her only to reveal just how weak and pained he sounded. Every heartbeat made the burning of his wound pulsate as his nerves carried a fresh round of panicked signals to his brain. "I don't think...I could move very much...I-if I tried. Hehe..hehe...HNGnnn" He said, trying to laugh it off, to make a joke, only for a fresh round of twitching pain to shut him up, still clutching that part of his side. He listened to Mae-Mae admonishing him, damning him for not listening to her, doing the sensible thing...running away. But he could only smile up at her, weak and pale as the blood seemed to be slowly draining from his face.
"I couldn't do that, Mae-Mae...these people were suffering...just like you were...just like Marigold was." He said, looking out into the dust to see the silhouettes of the violent, cruel thrashing that Marigold was giving the Flymon that had harmed her beloved father. "M-my poor girl. I have to...I have to...nnn." he flinched at the pain all over again, shivering, goosebumps rising up all over his body. This sudden chill as more blood drained out of him. He saw, through his half open eyes, the blurring fog in his vision. Mae-Mae walking up with her knapsack. Everything she had in the whole wide world dumped on the ground to make a bandage that might save his life. He damned himself internally for that, that trauma that his own stupidity had forced on her. he didn't have long to think about it though, not as she lashed out and punted the shard free of his body, leaving a wound where it had once lay.
"AAAHHH!!!" he howled, his muscles seizing violently and in a seemingly random order. If Marigold had been thinking straight she would have been able to hear it, hear that her father wasn't quite dead yet. Maybe it would have stopped her. But right now she had the Queen on her back against the ground, slamming down hammer blows to her face and abdomen over and over and over again. The queen little more than a whimpering, murmuring shape at the center of a deepening crater.
'The z-zipper...is just below my chin. Pull it down and you can probably rip from the zipper to the hole...the jacket's done for at this point a-anyway..." he said, still throwing out dumb quips if only to try and hide how scared he was right now. Was he scared to die? Yes, probably, who wasn't. But that wasn't what was going through his mind. The thought of leaving Marigold and Mae-Mae alone in the world, Marigold especially, it was what kept him hanging on. "Hurry...Hurry..." he begged Mae-Mae, his voice and his body sounding impossibly fragile and small even to the tiny rabbit digimon. "I have to...I have to stop her. I have to stop her before she does something that she can never take b-back...I made her a promise...that I'd always...be there..." He said, trying to ward off the fog on the edges of his vision. "Please...once you bind the wound...help me stand...I have to...have to stop her..." He said, just repeating it weakly, as if talking in his sleep.

Marigold's rampage served as the backdrop for Mae-Mae's makeshift infirmary. If Mae-Mae had the time, she'd probably cheer on the deranged digimon, as she was hardly objected to the wholesale beatdown being delivered.
Zack's reassurances and compassion only served to make Mae-Mae pout. But she focused on her task, she only needed her ears to wipe her tears, which left her hands free to locate the zipper, and undo it with only a bit of difficulty. Then it was a simple matter to wrap the rucksack bandage around Zack's wound. "M-Mae-Mae will c-cry as m-much as m-much as Mae-M-Mae wants! I-it's ok to cry! Now-now..." Mae-Mae would pat Zack's stomach once she was finished to vent her grievances. After she was done, she'd look over the sounds of violence with a confused expression as she tried her very best to pull Zack up, offering him her ears to hold.
"If she was a Stingmon you shoulda led with that..." Mae-Mae mumbled, "W-Well, cmon. Grab Mae-Mae's ears... gently!" she advised, with a tense of caution.

"Oh trust me I would have told you...this is a very recent development. As in like...thirty seconds ago, recent." he said, trying to laugh at his own bad comedy only to grit his teeth and curse under his breath at the pain, shoving himself as far as he could to his feet, leaning on the tiny rabbit for the rest of his support. He was fighting an uphill battle to not just pass out with every step he took, but he soldiered on, he had to stop her. "If she...if she kills that Flymon...that's blood she can't take back and I won't...I won't let this trumped up aristocrat take any more of my daughter's soul." He said, pushing, moment by moment, feeling like his destination was a thousand miles away before he finally broke the dust cloud and got close enough for his weak voice to even possibly be heard.
"I'm going to kill you..." Marigold said, straddling the thoroughly downed and groaning queen Flymon. The Stingmon's silvery talons flexing outward as they inched closer to her insectoid opponent's throat. "I'm going to KILL you!" She said, repeating, as if letting the idea take root in her mind, even at the tower scale of the clashing champions, her claws were only inches away from her downed opposite.
"STOP!" Zack shouted, hitting his knees, stumbling over onto his hands, his palms pressing into the ground as he panted, coughing and wheezing as his entire body screamed, begging him to just collapse. Marigold turned, her focus finally torn away from that Flymon under her.
"Dad?...I...I thought..." She said, releasing her hold on the Flymon still laying there on her back in the middle of a pit. The Stingmon staggered up to her father, hitting her knees and reaching out, hesitating, unsure if it was sake to grab hold of him in his current state. "I thought you were..."
"She's not worth it...she's not..." He said, fighting for every word like he was a drowning man struggling moment by moment to come up for air, gulping in lung fulls of breath just to get out a few strained words. "I don't care what she's done...what you thought she did...she's not...she's not worth you." He says, picking up his head to look into Marigold's eyes, father and daughter linking their gazes, a single moment of peace and silence in the unending chaos. "If you did what you were about to do...lashed out in anger, used your power to make bad people pay instead of protecting the victims." He coughed, more than a little blood leaking from the corner of his lips, he wasn't focused on that in the moment though. "Then she'd have stolen away your heart...the heart of my little girl would be coated in blood and I...I'd lose you." He said, his voice breaking, not from the strain, not from the exhaustion and pain. But from fear, fear that he had come that close to losing the innocent little bug that had fallen asleep in his arms that first night only some short months ago.
He reached out, wrapping his arms around her shoulders, collapsing against her as her arms closed softly around him.
