Thanks to their partners, taking out the three pirates mooks was a relatively easy task, especially since they were taken by surprise. The Gotsumon, SnowAgumon, and Armadillomon didn't even know what hit them. Sadly, the Gotsumon was tough, probably because the whole... being a rock boy thing. But he wasn't given the chance to scream, as the mercenary was able to silence them easily enough. Haru walked up towards the still-conscious but muffled Gotsumon, holding a rather pointed dagger towards him while Haru's sister kept lookout in the Whitewater alleyway.
"My buddy here is gonna let go of your mouth, and you're not gonna scream or even talk above a whisper, okay?" Haru crouch down and pointed the dagger in front of his eyes. "This dagger's not gonna do a whole lot of damage to most of you, but I gotta wonder... are your eyes and tongue made out of rock, too?" The Gotsumon stared back at her wide-eyed, and just nodded in defeat. "That's what I wanted to see!" Her smile widened. "Now... I hear you're members of a certain pirate crew that I'd just be dying to meet! And I happened to hear that you're still docked here in Whitewater while you're out getting supplies! Now... would you care to tell me which dock that would happen to be at? My partners and I tend to get lost pretty easily?" Haru kept a cold stare while the Gotsumon shivered in fear.
"Man, could you see the look on his face?" Haru couldn't help but laugh as her group made their way out of the alley and back towards the docks. "I couldn't believe that he fell for all that so easily!" She whirled a feather-shaped kunai around in her hand a couple of times before pocketing it. Having a weapon out in public probably wouldn't go over well. Even Haru knew that much.
"I still think you went a little too far..." Natsu commented. "Even if you weren't actually gonna do it, threatening someone like that's really... It made my stomach crawl..."
"Stupid Natsu..." A voice on Haru's shoulder called out, turning around. The brown and pink bunny Digimon gave Natsu a stare as if she were an idiot. "They're pirates. Puny little vague threats weren't gonna work. We had to do at least that much if we wanted them to take them seriously..."
"Or we could have just not gone through with it at all..." A beige and green bunny on Natsu's shoulder stated. "I don't really see the obsession you guys have with pirates..."
"Cream, it's not an obsession!" Haru corrected, turning around to face the Terriermon while walking backwards. "But regular ol' pranks just don't do it for us, you know? So we gotta take on new targets to make things interesting! And seeing as we're basically ninjas now, so not just any target will do! And pirates are always a problem around here in Whitewater! So we can show up some pirates, steal their treasure, and get out kicks in the process! It's foolproof! Right, Mocha?"
"Well, I dunno... I hear these pirates are led around by some brat!" Mocha commented with a smug expression. "I don't know what kind of challenge some kid the same age as you two could possibly offer us!"
"Hmm... but I hear this captain's got some powerful allies," Cream stated, still a little pensive. "Polas, a former pirate captain himself. He raised a lot of trouble for himself up in the North. And his right-hand 'mon, Shiroku, is an intelligence expert. I wouldn't be surprised if he found out about what we did to those flunkies before we made our move."
"Come on, I think you're underestimating our own resident expert, don't you think?" Haru scolded with a confident smile. "I'm sure she's put those three somewhere where no one can find them for a good long while... Isn't that right, Mu?"
And in a sudden blur of motion, a Peckmon had appeared at her side, giving the group a cursory glance before bowing her head. "That's correct, Lady Harumi. Lady Natsumi. I left their data intact, as you requested, but they won't be found for some time, assuming some beachgoer doesn't dig them up first." She turned her head towards the Whitewater docks, and stated, "I have never met this... Captain Nanami before, but I will eliminate her without mercy, if I must!"
Natsu was about to voice her concern, but was cut off by Haru's abrupt laughter. "'I will eliminate her without mercy, if I must!' Dude... You gotta chill out! So let's hold off on the whole killing thing, alright? And if they start picking a fight with us while we're robbing them blind, we'll smack them around a bit, okay?"
Shiroku the Chakmon looked over the railing of their vessel, The Frosthound, wondering where their subordinates went off to. Monochromon and Tuskmon were swabbing the decks as usual, while the first mate was yelling at them from atop the crow's nest to move faster. Even from all the way up there, it wouldn't be surprising if half of Whitewater could hear his voice.
"There better not be a trace of fur on that deck when you're finished, or else you sad sacks will be scrubbing the ship's hull when we set sail!" He yelled, while the two Champions nervously acknowledged them. Still... something was amiss. Even for those three, with their mostly lackadaisical attitudes, were running late. Had something happened to them? They weren't nearly as well-known down here in Whitewater, so there was little chance that those three would be recognized. That's why they were sent to deliver supplies in the first place. Shiroku decided to go see the captain about this.
He headed towards the ship's cabin, where his captain resided. She was sitting at a desk, papers in front of her, pen in hand, though her hand was so still that a small blotch of ink formed where the pen was placed. "Ugh.. I don't get this at all..." She complained. "If we're pirates, why do we got to do all this paperwork and stuff?"
A figure besides her, in a wolf's pelt, though he was not a wolf, answered her. "Because we still need to be official sometimes, Nanami! Otherwise we wouldn't be able to dock anywhere! And that would be bad if we couldn't maintain our ship, right?"
"Mmm... I guess..." Captain Nanami let out a sigh before she noticed the Chakmon. "Shiroku! I didn't see you come in!" She looked at his emotionless expression, and her eyebrows narrowed. "Is... everything okay?" Shiroku was impressed. He never gave off anything on his face, but still she was able to sense his trouble. Welp, she was the captain, after all.
"Gotsumon, SnowAgumon, and Armadillomon haven't come back from their supply run. I'm worried they might have gotten mixed up in something, so I'll be taking my leave to go investigate," He stated it as if it were a foregone conclusion. Another reason he liked the captain was because she had the sense to let Shiroku handle things on his own and-
"Oh, then I'll come with you!" She said excitedly, getting up out of her seat. She turned to Gabumon and said, "Hey, you can handle all the paperwork and stuff, right? You've got a lot better handwriting than I do, anyway!"
"Oh... okay!" Unsurprisingly, Gabumon was okay with this. And Nanami's statements were true, regardless. Gabumon was probably second to only Shiroku himself when it came to matters that didn't involve intense action. He could be trusted to do the work.
Welp. Shiroku forgot the captain's lack of tolerance for boredom. He was hoping she would have been able to hold on a little longer. "But Captain, I may need to go out on my own and investigate. If Gabumon is here, then you'd be on your own and-"
"It's okay, we'll bring Gaomon along with us! I think he's still training in the bilge! I'll grab him real quick and the three of us can head into town!"
Gaomon was coming along, too? That... would make things, worse. With Nanami and Gaomon together, there was no circumstance that didn't involve them making a scene in one way or another. Nanami was too much of an enabler for the dog's reckless behavior. But... she was the captain. "Very well, Captain."
"Okay! Then let's get going!" Nanami went to go fetch the dog, while Shiroku made his way towards the deck once more. But... immediately he could tell something was amiss. He wasn't sure what, so he gave a quick look towards his surroundings.
And... he spotted two grappling hooks lodged onto the railing. He turned towards Monochromon and Tuskmon and shouted, "Intruders on the starboard bow!" But by then it was too late. The grappling hooks retracted, and two humanoid figures... in bright yellow, cheap-looking uniforms climbed about. In fact, they seemed to be human. Nearly identical, and looked to be the same age as the captain, if not a little older.
"Surrender your treasure at o-" One of them shouted out, but almost immediately a pair of ice axes came flying down from the crows nest towards the humans. Captain Polas leaped down, as the axes tore into both of the humans... only for them to suddenly vanish into a puff of smoke. No doubt the shadow clones of a pirate's second worst enemy, after scurvy... ninjas!
And while he was in midair, a Peckmon came flying out of the shadows, kicking the aerial Blizzarmon's back so hard he went flying off the ship and into the waters beyond. An attack from a Champion-level like Peckmon wouldn't have done much damage, but he kick was strong enough to put the Ultimate-level Digimon out of the fight for the time being.
Still, the diversion worked. As another pair of humans came flying up portside, landing onto the deck with a splash. On their shoulders were a Terriermon and Lopmon, and they held their Digivices at the ready. Light shone from their Digivices and they were absorbed into spheres of light.
"Mocha!" "Lopmon Digivolve to... Lekismon!"
"Cream!" "Terriermon Digivolve to... Firamon!"
And in their place, a pink rabbit creature and a crimson lion stood. Shiroku moved to attack, but the Peckmon by that point the Peckmon had landed and charged the Chakmon, lunging at him with a devastating kick. Shiroku hardened his snowy arm into the thickest ice he could muster before blocking it with his forearm, but the force was enough to send him flying back. He hit is back onto the railing, and watched helplessly as the two newly Digivolved Digimon charged the still-surprised Monochromon and Tuskmon.
But the Tuskmon was able to get his head on straight enough to charge ahead with his horns, targeting the smaller Lekismon first. However, the rabbit Digimon hopped far above the Tuskmon's charge, then dove down with a devastating kick to the back of his neck, sending him sprawling onto the floor.
Meanwhile, the Firamon covered herself in flames and charged into the Monochromon at full speed, ramming her head into the larger dinosaur Digimon's jaw and slamming into his exposed stomach. He went flying back and crashed straight into the Tuskmon, both of them lying motionless. As usual, those two were taken out in an instant. And now the deck was all dirty and scratched up again. Polas was going to be furious when he got back on board.
But in the meantime, Shiroku found himself surrounded by the Lekismon, the Firamon, and the Peckmon. One of the two humans in the ridiculous yellow ninja outfits stepped forwards and gave a bow. "G~oood day to you, sir!" She greeting a little too cheerily. "My name is Haru, and this is my sister, Natsu! We're the Fujisaki sisters, and we're here to rob you pirates of all your treasure today!"
"Haru, was giving our names out to the enemy we're robbing really necessary!?" Natsu's tone implied it more as an accusation than a question.
"Sorry..." Haru answered, barely able to restrain her laugh. "But things were going so smooth, I just got caught up in the moment, you know? Besides, if we get our names out there, we'll become more widely known!" Her eyes lit up as she continued. "Soon, every pirate in the Digital World's gonna be wary of us!"
"Yeah... that's what we want... our targets knowing who we are when we rob them..." Natsu rolled her eyes and let out an exasperated grunt. Well... at least they were wearing these silly ninja outfits to mask their identity... which Haru immediately pulled back, revealing her face to the snowman Digimon in front of them. She let a frustrated groan and moaned out, "Whatever... let's just get this over with! Cream! Mocha! Mu! Take him out before-"
Before she could finish, the three Digimon charged, but then a small, whirling blue and red tornado came from out of seemingly nowhere, smacking into all three Champion-level Digimon. They didn't seem to take too much damage, but the tornado stopped swirling to reveal a Gaomon putting himself between the three.
"Coming onto this ship and picking a fight with our crew, huh? Well then, I'm gonna have to teach all three of you a lesson, aren't I?" Despite being outnumbered and overmatched, the Gaomon didn't look the least bit frightened. Then, a small stream of blue flame shot out towards the humans, as the two girls had the sense to back away from the blow. Then the Gaomon seemed a tiny bit disappointed.
From the deck's entrance, a pink-haired girl with a Gabumon by her side stood there, looking non-plussed by all the enemies that had boarded her vessel. If anything, she looked kind of excited, as her amber eyes were practically sparkling. "Are we... are we getting attacked by ninjas right now!?" She asked as if it were Christmas morning. "Ninjas are like, the worst enemy for a pirate!"
"Second worst, Nanami!" The Gabumon corrected. "Right now, the worst enemy is currently scurvy. According to Shiroku, at least!"
"Oh! That's still a really big deal!" She proclaimed, holding up an ugly-looking D-3 that was a mishmash of various tones of blues, reds, and white. Very French-looking, though that was probably just coincidental. "Gaomon! Gabumon! If these guys are bigger, then you're gonna have to get big, too!" Like the former Terriermon and Lopmon before them, Gaomon and Gabumon were swallowed up by a sphere of light.
"Okay! Gabumon Digivolve to... Garurumon!"
"Tch... Gaomon Digivolve to... Gaogamon!"
And in their place, a pair of wolf-like Digimon stood on four legs, standing as majestic as ever.
The stage was set for battle, and the chaos of orders ensued.
"Cream! Use your flames and torch everyone but us!"
"Shiroku! Use your ice to intercept!"
"Mocha! Intercept the snowman!"
"Gaogamon! Intercept the rabbit's interception!"
"Mu! Intercept the Gaogamon's interception so Mocha can intercept the Chakmon's interception!"
"Garurumon! Intercept the birdie's interception so Gaogamon doesn't get intercepted so he can still intercept the rabbit who's trying to interc-th...Ow!" Nanami let out groan of pain as she cried out, "Ah biht mah tong!"
Everyone stared blankly at the pink-haired girl for a moment, and then began to move. Cream took a deep breath, ready to unleash a burst of flames, but the Chakmon rushed forward, taking a deep breath himself. Mocha and Mu moved in to stop him, but the Gaogamon lunged towards them, grabbing at them with his crimson, scarf-like appendages. Mocha relatively tiny body was caught fairly easily, but the evasive Peckmon managed to maneuver her way through the trap and towards the Chakmon, however, in a sudden burst of blue flames, a Garurumon rushed covered the other side of the deck in an instant, grabbing onto the bird Digimon's leg with his fangs.
Cream's flames were quickly met with the Chakmon's icy breath, and instead of the intended firestorm a vortex of steam rushed around the frantic combat. The heat rushed all the way over towards the sisters, thankfully not nearly hot enough to scorch the pair. But it was enough to prevent them from seeing the outcome of their little kerscuffle.
However, once Natsu caught sight of Mu getting thrown out of the steam cloud, she had an idea of how things went down. By the time the steam cleared up enough to see what happened, it looked like things had been settled.
And it hadn't been in their favor. Mocha was pinned down by the Garurumon standing with his front paws pressing onto her, and the Gaogamon lay atop the fiery Cream, seemingly unfettered by the flames she produced. Shiroku stepped towards the two girls, his hand forming into an icy blade, and he gave them a cold stare.
"Sorry, but my partners don't need to see in order to fight!" Nanami proudly proclaimed, as if it were her own talent. "They've got really good noses, you know!"
"Your operation has failed," He stated, walking ever closer while the twins held their Digivices at the ready. They couldn't hold off a Champion-level by themselves for very long, but if they could hold out enough for either Mocha and Cream to escape. "Not because your partners are temporarily disabled. But because he's come back."
A large hand gripped the railing behind them, as a large white-furred climbed back aboard, flattened by the ocean and looking positively livid.
The former pirate captain Polas, a Digimon far stronger than any Champion, the scourge of the Northern seas, gave a delightful grin and brandished his axes. "So... now it's my turn to fight, right?"
With the Lekismon and Firamon pinned down, and their respective tamers trapped between Shiroku and Polas, things were looking to be pretty darned in favor of Nanami's victory. However, the two ninja's ninja birb has something to say about it. Managing to land on her feet from Garurumon's throw, she dashed past Shiroku and straight towards Polas.
"Not if I can help it!" The Peckmon yelled out, making another lunging kick towards the Blizzarmon. The kick landed square in the chest, the same powerful kick which had the force to send Polas flying earlier. But not that Polas was grounded and prepared for such a blow, he didn't even budge and inch.
"Good spirit... But far too little power!" He yelled out, clubbing the Peckmon in the face with his fist. Her long neck made a sharp curve as she was sent rolling back to the other side of the deck, eventually coming to a stop completely motionless.
"Mu!" The sisters yelled out in unison. The Peckmon then started to squirm, but it didn't look like she was going to be getting up any time soon.
"And you can't even take a punch, either? Pathetic!" Polas looked like he was about spit in the Peckmon's direction, but he instead faced his pirate comrades. "Gaogamon! Garurumon! Let those two go! I wanna see if I can get at least a proper challenge out of these two!"
"No way! These two are my opponents!" Gaogamon protested. "I'll take them on, so-"
"It's okay, Gaogamon!" Nanami interrupted. "Let Polas fight! You know he gets cranky when he doesn't!"
"But he lost by ringout earlier! That means it's my turn to fight!" Gaogamon protested.
"Brother, maybe we should let Polas fight! After all, if they're not strong enough to defeat Polas, then they wouldn't be a match for you, right?" Garurumon reasoned with his fellow doggy. Gaogamon pondered this for a second, and his ego sufficiently fed, he complied with Nanami's order. The Firamon moved back to her feet, while the Garurumon let go of the Lekismon.
"You damned well better have let me go..." She muttered as she stood up and rolled her shoulder. The two turned towards the Blizzarmon and shrugged. "So we just gotta take down this guy first, right? Haru! Stupid Natsu! You know what to do, right?"
"I'm ready as well!" The Firamon added. The twin girls nodded to each other, then held up their Digivices once more. The same light of Digivolution came forth again.
"Super... Digivolution!" A burst of light and then from Lekismon's form came a taller, rabbit-like creature, slightly more humanoid, while brandishing a large crescent scythe, its silver hue glimmering like the effervescent moon. "Crescemon!"
"Super... Digivolution!" At the same time, under the same light the Firamon became more bipedal in nature, with curved blades coming from her shoulders, radiating heat as if they were like the resplendent sun. "Flaremon!"
"Mocha! Full power from the get-go!"
"Cream! Don't hold back on this one!"
"Interesting! Let's see what you've g-" Before Polas could even finish his sentence, however, the two closed the distance near-instantaneously. The Flaremon cloaked herself in flames, creating a dark shadow around herself that suddenly swayed back and forth until it snapped towards the Crescemon and surrounded her weapon. And with a single strike from each, Polas was once again sent flying back, flying off the ship once more, and far out into the ocean beyond.
"Ha! What a loser! All that talking big and he goes down like a chump!" The Crescemon gleefully mocked. "But... something about that felt really good for some reason... huh..."
"That's exactly what I wanted!" Gaogamon shouted out, gritting his sharp fangs in excitement.
"Nanami! If they've Digivolved to Ultimate-level, then maybe..."
"Already ahead of you!" Nanami yelled back, grasping her D3 Digivice and focusing her will. It was Gaogamon and Garurumon's turn to ascend now.
"Super Digivolution!" Gaogamon burst through the light, fully bipedal and decked out in cybernetic enhancements. A rocket-boosted set of wings let him hover into the air as large, metal arms slammed against each other as he shouted out "MachGaogamon!"
"Super Digivolution!" Garurumon pierced the light, also standing on two legs as well. A more casual attire covered his body, though not long after, several metal blades erupted from his back. The shot out a blue light as he began to zig and zag through the air at blinding speeds. "WereGarurumon!"
And from then on, neither Nanami or the two other humans needed to give orders. Their Digimon moved so fast that they were barely able to keep track of the fight, regardless. Simply put, giving commands using words would be too slow at this point. But with this higher level of Digivolution, these humans could feel a connection at an emotional level. Like their hearts were one. Even if she didn't actually experience the pain herself, Nanami could feel her body reflexively tense when her partners took a hit. And when things would look bad, it was Nanami's surefire confidence that would help her Digimon keep going.
And Nanami knew that these two other girls felt the same way about their Digimon as Nanami felt towards MachGaogamon and WereGarurumon. That though they may enemies, and ninja enemies at that, Nanami knew that these girls loved Digimon just as much as she did. Maybe after all this was over, they could become friends somehow. Nanami wasn't one for following traditions, and she would love having a ninja or two join her crew. Something about that... just felt right to her. For some reason.
But this was the Digital World! And when opposing forces came at you with all their might, then there was only one appropriate response! And that was was a tradition that even Nanami wasn't willing to buck! "MachGaogamon! WereGarurumon! Show them everything we've got!"
"Of course!"
"I'll give it my all!"
And apparently, the others felt the same.
"Mocha! Don't let these two show you up!"
"Cream! Don't hold back this time, either!"
"You're damned right I won't!"
"Understood!"
The four Ultimate-levels crossed paths with one another. MachGaogamon closed in on the Flaremon, clasping opposite hands with each other and pressing forward against each other, each one refusing to give the other an inch. "You're... pretty hot..." The MachGaogamon relented with a grunt of effort.
"...Thank you...?" The Flaremon responded in kind.
"But no matter how how you may be, my fighting spirit were burn even hotter!" MachGaogamon let out a deafening scream as he pushed forward with all of his might, but the Flaremon, evidently one who hated to lose, gave him no quarter as she pushed back with flames shooting from her back.
Meanwhile, the WereGarurumon zipped around the Crescemon, slashing with blades of light only to be met with the Crescemon, scythe or shield. "You're moving around too fast! Stay still for a second, dammit!"
"I... I'm definitely not going to do that!" WereGarurumon shot back, suddenly taking to the hear and began firing off lasers from a distance. He focused a single, powerful charged laser to take out the Crescemon, but in a blur of what seemed to be a well-practiced motion she attacked her shield to the other end of her crescent scythe, creating a bowgun of sorts. Then she gathered an arrow of darkness and shot it out towards the aerial WereGarurumon. Their attacks collided, breaking apart and creating a shower of light and darkness fragments. WereGarurumon dove down while the Crescemon shot upwards, ready to engage in a devastating collision.
As for MachGaogamon and the Flaremon, once they realized that their stubbornness wasn't getting either of them anywhere, they pulled back from each other. MachGaogamon's jet boosted fired off at full power as he swung forward with an oversized fist, ready to crush his opponent with a single destructive strike. And in return, the Flaremon condensed all the flames she could muster into her fist, then launched it forward strike at her foe.
"MachGaogamon! WereGarurumon!"
"Mocha!" "Cream!"
"SHOW THEM EVERYTHING WE'VE GOT! SHOW THEM THE STRENGTH OF OUR BONDS!!!"
And that's where this silly little fantasy ends. What happened at end of the fight, you ask? No? Well, I'm gonna be pretentious anyway!
Some say the ninjas won, defeating the pirates and taking off with all their treasure, and became a force to be reckoned with, and the Fujisaki sisters and their bunny bunnies became synonymous with fear for any pirates in the Digital World.
Others say the pirates won, though Captain Nanami would bring the sisters and their partners into her service, becoming close friends that would last a lifetime.
Others still say the resulting explosion form their attack destroyed the pirate ship entirely, and the girls who weren't vaporized instantly drowned to death as a result.
But at the end of the day, this was just the tale of children who loved their Digimon, but opposing forces clashing nonetheless.
But let's face it, everyone. Pirates are way cooler than ninjas. There's just no denying it.
