It was an oddly warm day for Japan at this time of year, but thankfully not overwhelmingly hot. Maybe it was just because Taiga had decided not to go to the arcade for once. So, the idea of a non-shaded, non-air conditioned had become foreign to her. She had dispensed with panda hoodie for today. Otherwise, she’d really be cooking.
Taiga stood in the middle of Central Shibuya, just shy of the famous tourist attraction and meeting place, Hachikō Square. “I did promise. Didn't I” the girl muttered, shielding her eyes from the rays of bright light that seemed to be radiating from above them. “I’ll give you a good tour of the area.”
She had lived in the heart of Naniwa until she was seven, before her family packed up and moved them to Shibuya. For a better job. So, by now, Taiga had a pretty good grasp of the surrounding area of Shibuya. Other than the arcades, of course.
Also, she had decided the night before to wear earbud headphones to disguise the fact that she was talking to, what seemed to passersby, thin air. But the truth was, she had a secret in her bag. A small, red secret. Sort of like a baby dinosaur crossed with a football. Or one of those very strange carnival plush doll prizes. Except, it was extremely real. So, if anyone looked her way, it’d appear as if she was mid phone call.
“So, where to start,” she said, thinking hard. “And, don’t forget you’ve got to stay hidden at all times. If anyone was to see you. They’d a lot of difficult questions… and a trip to a government lab, no doubt.” Although, she only thought the last part to herself.
“I guess we could go shopping or something. Maybe, grab a bite to eat? Unless you’d rather see more of the sights.”

Ah, Shibuya. What a weird place to be. Or, at least, it felt that way after having mostly abandoned this world entirely for far too long. But, Mai still had obligations in this world to avoid being slapped on a 'missing persons' poster! So, to take advantage of her day in the human world, she decided to get some shopping and paperwork done. Luckily, that was mostly completed and most purchases had been discretely stuffed away into her totally-human-world-related infini-store.
For the most part, the blonde didn't pay much mind to others in the area. In exclusion to one other blonde, that kept pulling at her hand, of course! "Mai-Mai-Mai!" The main reason she couldn't ignore this one was persistence, alone! "Can we stop by the candy store?"
"We can get candy tomorrow." In Whitewater. Not here. Jeez.
"But I want gummy bears." The holosuited fox pouted a bit, "last time I bought gummy bears at that place," his voice lowered to a harsh whisper, "one was alive." Of course, he had still eaten it. But living food was a bit of a turnoff. So, maybe Mai would second-guess buying snacks from the Whitewater shop anymore! Even if Kuu was still willing to eat living-gummies, the tamer definitely wasn't!
There was a frown on the girl's face while all she could do was utter, "ew," while the blonde boy continued to tug on her. "I guess we can pick some up, then." At least candy shouldn't be sketchy here, right?
After long await, here was the cliché part that everyone had been waiting for! In Kuu's excitement for getting snacks, he tugged hard enough to lose his grip on his tamer's hand, and began tumbling backwards! Unless a certain pink haired girl on a 'phone call' had some quick reflexes, it looked like he might stumble right into her! Talk about unfortunate situations!

Taiga pondered for a minute. Unsure of what to do next. She had promised to give Aoba a good overview of the human world, other than her frequent hideout, the Arcade. Of which they knew very well by now.
“What would you like to do?”
A tiny voice emerged from her bag, thankfully only loud enough that Taiga would hear him.
“I’ma hungry! Why don’t we go get something to eat?”
Taiga smiled, somehow knowing that was going to be his answer. They had been together for about two months at this point and if there was one thing she had learned is that these creatures really really liked to eat and a lot of it. But that was fine. At least she’d be able to get away from this ever-growing heat. "Fair enough, the..."
Taiga cut off the remainder of that sentence as out of the corner of her eye, she saw it happen. A boy tripping and falling. With all the skills and dexterity she had gained from her hundreds and hundreds of hours of arcade gaming in hand. She moved, almost as if in slow motion. She stretched out and pressed a hand to the boy's back and another around his arm. Slowing his descent to the stone ground that would definitely not prove a pleasant fall.
Although as she did so, her bag fell away from her arm. As it hit the ground, various items slid from it and scattered a short distance over the ground at their feet.
“Are you okay?” Taiga asked, her head tilted slightly. As she helped the boy back to their feet, with a bright smile, she added. “You should watch out! Wouldn’t want you getting hurt, right?”
Once the boy was back to his feet. Taiga crouched down and began to pick up her bag and then the items that had fallen from it. Including the thankfully-still-silent dinosaur digimon and the crimson digivice – which was flashing alarmingly and rather ominously.

While it would have been a surprise to fall into someone, being caught by them was possibly a larger shock! Such skill! Much zoom! Or, at least that was Kuu's opinion. It might be best not to think too deep into a noodle-dressed-as-a-human's thoughts on the matter! At least it wouldn't be too hard for the stranger to help slow his descent! The fox was pretty light! Which was probably a blessing on both sides of this encounter!
Kuu went down gently, stranger-girl didn't get toppled over, and... oh, her bag fell! Well, shoot. Hopefully nothing fragile was inside! "Oops! Yeah, I'm fine, thanks!" the blonde boy chimed, giving a bright smile while he was helped back up. "Mai said we could go get gummies, so I got excited! And then I tripped!" It was a promising explanation, really. "Gummies are totally worth excitement though! Don't you think?" Uh. Sure.
Meanwhile, the tamer had moved forward to make sure there wasn't anything that needed controlled with the situation. Which, all things considered, it was pretty fine. Most things in this world were pretty manageable, it felt like. As long as Kuu's cover didn't slip.
Unlike, perhaps, a certain someone's. Did the plush notice that someone was staring at them? Was it worth making a mention? Mai mulled for a second, while Kuu shuffled over to the bag. "D'you want help picking up your stuff? It's the least I can do for helpin' me!" What a heart of gold! Or, something like that. Soon enough, the saying would just be 'a stomach full of gummies' instead of anything else, and Kuu would surely food-coma someplace.
He had to have noticed a certain critter's presence, too, right? Or was his holosuit and craving for snacks blocking his digi-senses? The world may never know! Considering he targeted a different item from the bag instead! "Is your toy s'posed to be flashing like that?"
And now, he tilted his head back to look to his tamer, with a hint of concern on his face. Was something about to happen?
Subtly, the girl stuck her hand in her pocket to carefully check her own digivice. If one went off, was there a chance both would? Or was it going to be something exclusive to the pink haired girl, and her tiny companion?

Taiga smiled as she began to scoop her stuff back into her bag. “Thank you for the help, but it’s really okay. It was really my fault, I dropped it all. Such a klutz.”
She turned her head slightly and gave a look toward her fallen digimon. Small sweat drops had appeared across Aoba’s head. He was trying to hard to stay splayed and plush-like. But, he couldn’t help but feel like he was being stared at. If it wasn’t such a tense moment, she’d almost laugh.
The young girl reached out and scooped him back up, placing him in her lap as she reached for the remains of her belongings. The odds and ends that had ended up at the bottom of her bag. “I, uh, just won this plush doll at the arcade,” she said, trying to act casual about it. The boy was talking about something else, however. “My toy? Oh you mean the Dig--” She cut herself off just in time. She picked up the odd crimson-pink device which was indeed flashing as the boy had said. “Uh, I’m honestly not sure. It’s never done that before. Maybe, I set of an alarm or something. Or because I dropped it?” Taiga tilted her head trying her best to figure it out.
All of a sudden, the screen flashed brightly and then faded away. The digivice fell silent and still in her palms. “Ah, see all better. Must have just needed to reboot. Or something. Very strange." “Well, all is well again. Thank you for the help and sorry to have bothered you” Taiga said, standing back up with Aoba in her arms. Bowing to both the girl and then the younger boy. Almost ready to place him back in her bag and to walk away.
All of a sudden, Aoba seemed to be vibrating in Taiga's arms. His fur was sticking up on end and his eyes had turned to thin slits.
Now, was it her imagination or was it getting awfully foggy around here. All of a sudden. Not to mention hotter. Far, far hotter. It wasn’t even the middle of summer.
What was going on?!
