She truly does believe in magic, and believes that she has magical powers with her various charms, crystals, and “spells.” Whether they actually do anything is up for debate, but she herself believes in them, and that’s enough for her. One of her favorite things is doing research, and she’s usually looking into one thing or another.
She takes great pride in her appearance and tries to keep herself looking as cute as she can. One of the fastest ways to earn her ire is to insult her outfits, or to insult her work. After all, it takes a lot of effort to look good!
Though when she isn’t busy doing research or practicing, she’s usually writing stuff for her blog, or otherwise chatting with people online. After all, you never know where a new lead might pop up!

Personal History: Hikari was born to a family with a history steeped in tradition. Her mother has a fascination with the religious history of Japan, to the point of being a Shinto priestess herself, and her dad is a cultural anthropologist with a focus on religious studies. This has influenced her through her childhood, giving her plenty of reading material. Hikari was anticipated to take to the Shinto traditions after her mother, but she found herself more attracted to Western practices instead, though she still holds to the motions out of respect for her mother. She had decided early on that she was going to go her own way through life, focusing on her studies early on, and was simply going through the motions.
And then she had an “experience” as she would put it: She had found herself face to face with a ghost one late night at a convenience store. A woman wearing a torn, white dress and hiding her face under her hair was standing outside the door while Kari was shopping. She had thought nothing of it, thinking it was a cosplayer or something doing a prank. But then she blinked and the woman was gone… until Kari had turned around. She fled the convenience store, but later on had realized what she (thinks) she ran away from… And that solidified her course. She apologized to her mother for simply going through the motions, and began her occult studies for real… Setting herself on the path of paranormal investigation!

Empathy: Even if he doesn’t know why, Ryo is very good at guessing what people are feeling after spending some time around them.
Personality: Ryo is the kind of Digimon who just tries to enjoy life (or undeath, technically?) by doing what he pleases. He isn’t outright malicious and doesn’t try to hurt anyone with his antics, however. At least, not unless they’ve actually done something to actually anger him. His favorite thing to do is scare unsuspecting people, but to him, it’s all in good fun. The screams of humans show they’re having fun, right? That’s what he’s learned from horror movies at least.
Despite needing help with figuring out how humans work, his naivete belies a very well-spoken and knowledgeable little Digimon. He absorbs information like a sponge and is quick to try and apply it, especially if it has to do with code (which he interprets as magic).
