It took a while for Eika to register that they had stopped.
By that time, Mamoru was boredly covering his ears to save them from her panicked screaming, no longer wrapping his arm to brace Eika against the speed of the train. He huffed a breath and looked over at her once she stopped her banshee wail of terror. "Are you done?"
"... ... ..." came her response. "... ... yeah. I'm―... okay."
With that, the BlackAgumon sighed through his nose and took his hands from the sides of his head, sliding off the seat with a slight thump of his weight against the metal and walking to the door they came in through. The exit slid open as smoothly as it did when they approached, and Mamoru looked behind himself to note Eika still clinging to the railing with a look that told him that she was still attempting to gain her bearings.
"Eika, come on. We're fine." He returned to her side to put his hands on hers. "The train isn't moving. We should get going soon so we don't get shot back to the Human World, okay?"
"U-uh... y-yeah." Mamoru took his hands off of hers, and Eika slowly loosened her white-knuckled grip on the metal and stood, wobbling and waving her arms to maintain balance as the blood rushed to her head. "W-wuh―!" She teetered for a second before getting her sense of motion under control, pausing before letting her arms fall to her side.
"Uhhh, Digital World, right..." Eika wiped her forehead, slightly regretting it with a grimace as she realized that not only was she sweating from her panic, but her arm was not covered by a proper sleeve to catch it with. She wiped her wrist on the side of her shorts and went to the doorway, her Digimon partner following with. "Nn, how did you know about this stuff anyway?"
"Remember when I told you that I didn't know the data I came from?" Mamoru replied, taking her hand in his. "Well, don't put that much faith in that."
"So... you reincarnated or something? Isn't that illegal?"
"Ill... illegal?" Mamoru echoed, looking up to her with a raised brow (or, at least, as much as he could manage with a brow ridge at best).
"Uhh... some country or another made it illegal to reincarnate without consent of king. Or dictator. Or whatever. Was it China that did that? Chinese people are crazy. Go Japan," she dumbly recited like she wasn't the least bit interested in saying the line.
"You sound like you need sleep," Mamoru noted.
"I'm just exhausted from a train ride from Hell after you nearly burnt the house down trying to combat a crazy number of guests, one of which came through the freakin' chimney, as well as having to bounce conversation in a language I'm zero percent fluent in with a guy from probably America, is all," she retorted with a bit too much snark in her voice for her intent.
"Riiiight," Mamoru replied, looking back to where they were walking. "Well, I'll not bother you with conversation if you don't want it. Not to say that in such a rude manner―it just seems like you're not up to talk right now."
"Yeah, let me just recover for a bit, then I'll be ready to banter. Thanks for understanding, I'm just..." She paused, then shook her head. "Uhh... can you tell me more about the Digital World, Mamoru? And if you do and the explanation flies over my head, could you not hold it against me, because I am just... I don't have my head in the game, the adrenaline's wearing off..."
"That's fine," Mamoru coolly replied. "The Digital World... Think of it like this. Your world is the perfect demonstration of physics and logic―how the natural world should go, so to speak. Prey animals generally don't eat the animals that predate upon them and dragons don't generally exist in terms of magic and fairytales."
"Yeah?"
"The Digital World is a world in which this sort of stuff can happen, but... Think of it like every animal but the youngest in your world can now speak. And most or all of them have guns, combat knives, or artillery somehow strapped to or incorporated in their design. And mythical creatures exist. And those mythical creatures generally have weapons strapped to them too. Unless they're a knight or are knight-based, upon which they'll have a lot of spikes and a suitably-anime-esque weapon."
"..." Eika stopped, gently pulling Mamoru's hand to keep him from moving further, and gave him a flat look.
"Do you think I'm kidding?" Mamoru patiently said.
"...Nevermind, too sleepy to do this. Good night." Eika pulled Mamoru's hand along until he caught up to her pace, then allowed him to take the lead and followed him along.
"Yes, that is the Digital World in a nutshell. There are more complicated things about it, but you look... well, rather done."
"Yeah, I'm just... I'll have to wait a bit. Maybe nap. Yeah, a nap sounds great..." she murmured. "Let's just go to wherever you're taking me and then we can talk."
"Okay," Mamoru replied, then continued to pull her along, deeper into the Digital World.
