"People who won't admit to acting silly are the silliest of all. Stomping around with their serious faces and their serious adult mannerisms. It's sad really, folks who try so hard to get the entire world to take them seriously not realizing that there's nothing less mature than trying to seem so grown up all the time." Marigold said, commenting on those kinds of people who seemed to have little humor at all. Compared to that, she was glad to seem a little odd at times.
"Well some people disagree with what I do for a lot of reasons. The fact that I wear a mask, the fact that I'm not a member of law enforcement. People worry about oversight and responsibility should something I do end up going really wrong. I can't say that I don't see where they're coming from. I just have to promise myself that I'll own up to my own mistakes as much as I make other people own up to theirs." Zack said, nodding slightly. He knew that a lot of people, good people, honest people, disagreed with his methods on principle and he couldn't truly argue with their concerns. he didn't want to frame them as acting in bad faith or being ridiculous, he was a man in a mask throwing his weight around and pinkie promising it'd be always for the right reasons. That set people on edge.

"While I agree with you for the most part Marigold since some people need to learn to relax a bit but there is a time and place for silliness. Unfortunately those overly silly types are absolutely unaware of this and how stress relieving letting ones silly side loose can be. It's kinda sad, isn't it?" Blackjack said ending his sentence with a sigh. "No wonder some humans tend to look older than their age and not in the good way."
When Zack mentioned how people disagreed with what he did and, to be fair, since he was a vigilante Harmony could definitely understand and she knew her brother likely understood as well since Blackjack may of been a bit less mature than her but he was just as smart meaning they likely got that natural intelligence from somewhere. "Maybe at least some of those who disagree with your lifestyle only do that cause they are genuinely worried about you. We aren't against you since superheroes are pretty cool so as long as you try to be careful I don't think things will be that bad. After all you also have Marigold to help you out."

"I hear that. My dad's lucky his hair is so light. I can almost guarantee that he's got more than his fair share of grey coming in around the edges." Marigold said, giggling a little. Digimon didn't visibly age as time went on, at least, not nearly as noticeably. A digimon's form at various levels would always resemble itself closely no matter if that Digimon had been alive for ten years or ten thousand, even if the amount of digimon strong or smart enough to keep from getting resent for ten thousand years could probably be counted on two hands with fingers left over.
"Hey! The last thing I need is a reminder. Trust me, the bathroom mirror reminds me plenty when I get up in the morning and see wrinkles where there were no wrinkles before." Zack said with a sigh, though with the edges of a smile on his face and in his voice. He wasn't exactly the kind of sit around worrying about his aging, even if the heavy lifestyle he was leading was probably aging him much faster than most. Spending too much time worrying about staying young would, ironically, waste a whole lot of time.

Blackjack giggled along with Marigold while looking at Zack's blonde hair. Sure he still looked pretty young to the wily gambler's eyes but he didn't really know a ton about human aging. Yet Marigold's statement brought out the Cardmon's curiosity in full force as the yellow and white Cardmon floated towards Zack and began running his invisible hands gently through Zack's hair as if looking for signs of grey before he said "Huh? I guess you were both kidding about the grey hairs cause I don't see any." Blackjack said scrunching his face before he chuckled at how ridiculous he looked messing with the human's hair.
Doing her equivalent of a headshake Harmony said "Yes digimon do age but to see one that looks old is pretty rare given they rarely live to be that ancient unless they are either lucky, cunning, strong, or a mixture of all three. Oh and Blackjack stop messing with Zack's hair. You didn't even ask if you could touch it."
Blackjack floated back away from Zack before he said "Sorry, Zack. When the conversation went to aging and you guys mentioned aging I was curious."

Zack didn't seem to be very bothered by Blackjack's meddling with his hair, giggling at the young Digimon's curiosity more than anything. As the little gambler floated himself away Zack bent a little and ran his fingers along the front of his hairline, just a little to the right of his right eye.
"You can see a couple growing in here." Zack said, tapping the spot on his head where he noticed them. He wasn't embarrassed about getting older, if anything he wore age like a badge of honor, especially living for any length of time through the insanity he now called his life.
"Like I said, his hair grows in really light. He's got a hair color that's rare in humans, statistically but it hides a little of his aging. Just a little." Marigold said, giggling, only breaking out into a greater laugh at her father's unimpressed sidelong glare in reaction to her words.
"She's not wrong. Even humans that are born blonde usually get a little darker or sandier as they grow up. I've stayed very light for my entire life, so far and it looks like I'm going to go from white-blonde to just plain white before it has a chance to darken with age." He said with a shrug. Zack was not a vain person but he was a little bit proud of his hair, it certainly drew some attention in the sea of black haircuts that made up Shibuya Japan, which was nice.

When Zack didn't seem offended by Blackjack's curiosity and even giggled at it the small Cardmon watched as Zack moved his hair which caused Blackjack to float closer for a better look. Though he didn't see anything at first after squinting for a bit he finally noticed something and said "Wait now I see it. No wonder I missed it since between the light shade of your hair and the fact there doesn't seem to be many grey hairs, it's no surprise that I had to squint to see them."
"But for a human you don't look all that old so why would you already have grey hair?" Harmony asked now curious and floated over to look and noticed the hairs herself. She still never stopped looking confused though.
"Yeah light blonde isn't common in humans but boy does it seem to be common in many digimon." Blackjack said after staring at Harmony for a moment but didn't seem to bothered by his twins' confusion. Regarding light blonde digimon Angemon and Leomon seemed to be only two of many such examples.

"Well aging happens in humans for a lot of reasons. Sure it's a function of time but how much time it takes and how each part of aging reacts to that passage of time varies by genetics, diet, lifestyle, basically anything you can think of. Hair turning grey is famously tied to the amount of stress in someone's life." Zack said, putting his hair back in it's normal sweep, covering the grey hair somewhat, though it was still visible if one was looking closely enough and from the correct sort of angle.
"And there's not a lot of things more stressful in life than making a daily routine out of fighting monsters, Digital, human or otherwise." Marigold said. Her father put on a lot of brave faces when he was picking fights with beasts twice his height and three times his mass, he generally liked to save freaking out about how stupid he was being for after they were out of sight for anybody other than her.
"Pretty much, yea. My...active lifestyle is keeping me pretty young all things considered but between being a superhero and being a parent...well I'm just lucky that male pattern baldness doesn't run in my family." He said, running his fingers through his hair, making it glittering in the light that was beating down on them from above.

Blackjack's infamous smirk had returned full force which made Harmony look at her roguish twin with a sense of caution knowing anything could happen. She knew him all too well. "Well all things considered, what with the stress of being a superhero and all, you seem to be aging pretty well since the grey hairs are few and hard to find." Blackjack said which was pretty well mannered considering what Harmony new that smirk usually meant.
"Marigold, maybe the reason your father is aging so gracefully is because he knows you have his back and knowing that cuts down his stress." Blackjack said his roguish smirk toning down but Harmony knew that could mean nothing as her twin could be quite the mischievous rogue at the worst of times but since that type of grin was his favorite one he could of easily been also doing it out of habit which means she had a good reason to be keeping an eye on her twin.
"I have a feeling even if you went bald you would of found a way to rock it." Harmony said with a similar smile appearing on her face. Damn it, Blackjack, who knew such a grin could be contagious.

"Aww shucks, you two are gonna make me blush." Zack said, half sarcastically as the two talked about him aging gracefully or ending up looking good when bald. he wasn't exactly accustomed to getting those sorts of compliments in general let alone from digimon.
"Don't let it go to your head. Your fashion sense is still atrocious." Marigold said with a sidelong glance to her father that ended in a slight smile from both of them. He shrugged, chuckling along with her.
"Can't reasonably argue with that." He said, tossing his helmet into the air so it twirled end over end in his hand and landed with a gleam back in his hands. "I think "gaudy" would be the polite word for it." he smiled, rolling the helmet so that the smooth golden edge of it caught the beating sunlight and gleamed brightly with a twinkle just on the corner of its shape.
"I mean, at least kids think you look cool." She said, which was partially a compliment and partly a confirmation that he did indeed look kiddy and ridiculous but Zack chose to take it more as a compliment
"I can work with that. What kids think looks cool is more fun anyway, less expensive too." He said, tugging his collar at the thought of the cost of what adult humans called "fashion" these days. It made the poor college student sweat.

Blackjack and Harmony caught the superhero's sarcasm right away with Blackjack snorting before bursting out laughing when Zack said they were gonna make him blush. Boy was the male gambler known as Blackjack glad he wasn't drinking anything or Zack's words would of likely caused the young Cardmon to spit liquid a respectable distance for a softball sized digimon.
As his laughter calmed down he smiled at Zack and Marigold before he said "Pftt. Fashion is overrated at sometimes in my opinion. Compared to some humans I've seen Zack's outfit is less gaudy than some human outfits that pass for human clothing in these modern times. Let's just say I'd take the goofy superhero costume any day compared to some things that attempt to pass for fashion."
"Maybe kids like Blackjack and myself like Zack's outfit because the colors look cool together. That and the bright gold that stands out against the black probably is what catches most kids' attention. As for fashion, like Blackjack, that tends to be a rabbit hole I tend to avoid since it seems to have no concept of strange." Harmony said somehow being able to keep from laughing like her twin but if she were honest with herself, she didn't know how she managed that.

"Yea fashion tends to be...I mean I don't even know how to define it. And that's just talking about wearable fashion not like, high fashion. That's a whole different ball game." Zack said, totally waving off the idea. Though the idea of him strutting his costume on a catwalk was more than a little amusing to the man.
"Seriously, some of the things that they get away with in Paris, New York or the like. I mean I'm glad people are finding ways to express themselves but god help me if I know what any of it is supposed to be telling me." Marigold said, thinking on some of the insane things she'd seen that had walked down a catwalk in one of the great fashion shows of the world.
"Mmm, right. That's the mistake a lot of people make. high fashion is meant to be art, like painting or sculpture. Nobody, especially the people making it, expects people to actually WEAR high fashion in everyday life, that's be insane. Not to say that street fashion hasn't become completely beyond me at some point either." Zack admitted. There were all kinds of cools brands and fashion iconic looks blitzing right past him day by day and all he could bring himself to wear other than his costume was either his school uniform or graphic t-shirts with superheroes on them and rough jeans.

Both Blackjack and Harmony reacted to Zack and Marigold with a confused tilt of the err body right from the start when Zack didn't know how to define wearable fashion before mentioning how high fashion was different all together. When they heard it was a form of self expression the twins looked even more confused before Blackjack said "Wait a minute. Let me get this straight. If high fashion is about self expression then what about regular fashion? Isn't that much of the same?" Yes the young digimon was indeed very confused and it didn't help humans could be confusing to digimon in many other ways as well.
"I thought the original purpose of clothes for humans was to keep warm since they lack fur. Sure with multiple designs and color schemes that means there is a lot of self expression but why are some of these outfits so weird even by human standards?" Harmony said still no less confused than her sibling.

"Ok, I'm not explaining this well. Obviously." Zack said, placing his hand on his forehead and shaking his head, laughing at himself as he fumbled over a subject he very poorly understood. "High fashion is like high art. it's meant to make a statement more than anything using fashion as a medium. A lot of things that high fashion designers create are TOTALLY impractical for any human to actually wear, and they know that. It's meant to be more like a painting in a museum, something you see up on the catwalk that makes you think, you know?" He said, hopefully he was getting closer to an actually understandable explanation of this concept because even he was starting to lose himself in it.
"Whereas, yes, streetwear is also a form of art it's meant to be art that you can actually, yknow, wear places. High fashion is like...a top made out of fishing net and rocks to make a point about overfishing whereas a streetwear shirt may be big, loud and colorful with a big brand name on it but it's still like...a shirt that you can wear without looking like you fell head first into a dump and crawled out the other side in high heels." Marigold said, equally trying to explain the concept better. It was something that even most humans famously didn't wrap their heads around very often unless you were already in the fashion sphere so she was trying to make her best attempt.

"No you explained it well it's just how do I delicately put this?" Blackjack said with a confused face shifting to one that was harder to read his current emotion but Harmony knew her brother was struggling to get the thought he had in his head out. Fortunately it only took a few seconds for the words Blackjack was looking for to surface as he said "Let's go with putting it bluntly then. No offense, Zack, but humans are weird. I mean I am all for high end art but at least paintings make sense as a form of artistic expression. As for high end fashion can't they make clothes that are like a painting that are practical to wear everyday if maybe a bit on the expensive side?"
Harmony chuckled at Marigold's expression before she also said "Blackjack is right about one thing. Humans are weird. There are always more practical ways to make a point even artistically. I mean can't humans just wear a pretty and fancy outfit in colors that fit the theme they are going for? That would make more sense to me but what do I know about fashion anyway when it isn't uncommon for digimon to go around naked by human terms?"

"My friend if you think I'm going to be offended by that then you probably need to spend some more time around humans." Zack said, smiling and sitting back down, leaning forward so he was propping his elbows up against the table in front of him. ""Humans are weird" is probably one of the first thoughts humanity ever had and it will almost certainly be one of the last. Nobody knows how strange we are better than we do." He said with a shrug, shaking his head. He was well aware at how absurd his people were in comparison to...well most anything really.
"Oh yea, Harmony you're totally right. Digimon usually don't have to worry about clothes at all, let alone the difference between fashion styles. I only ever wear this one scarf and some Digimon think I'm being fashionable about it. One scrap of cloth and you're making a statement in the digital world, figure that one out." Marigold said, running the point of one of her leg parts over the length of the flickering and rolling red scarf that was waving and snapping up and down in the steady wind off of the sea. She never took it off, not even for a second, it was too important to her.
