Some time had passed once again since Arthur had his latest adventure and this one was that of him having gone on his first ever solo Digital World excursion solo after having gone there and having been introduced to the Digital World by a certain young woman named "Viktoriya Romanova". Unfortunately for Arthur, he had been ill-prepared and was not at all cognizant of the temporal differences between the Human World and the Digital World, so he had been assailed by the hot weather in the Digital World at that time most severely due to the fact that he had been wearing full winter gear. However, by the end of that experience, he had learned to be much more circumspect in his preparations and that showed in the fact that he had bought a small and handy device called the "EV Suit" which made him essentially immune to environmental challenges in the Digital World regardless of locale.
Along with that, he had also bought several other handy pieces of Digital World technology to aid him in his future adventures in the Digital World and these included things like his new "Analog Jammer" device and his new Hover Craft which came in the form of a hoverboard that he had christened with the codename "Sleipnir MK1". Since then, Arthur had once again gotten back to the grind of his daily life of high society training, his scholarly duties as a student of Tokyo U., assisting his parents with the running of the business conglomerate owned and ran by their family, and so on. In this manner, time had marched on for Arthur until present day wherein, he was currently gearing up for another sojourn into through the Digital World
Ah, are we readying ourselves for another sojourn into my home, the Digital World, Master Edogawa?
Arthur heard his "Wormmon" Sprite spirit speak thusly in his mindscape while appearing in ethereal form as per his usual preference and so, he also manifested mental avatar in his mindscape in order to talk to said spirit digimon
Indeed. We have been away from it for quite a while now, after all. Hopefully, the Norns will see fit to grant us good fortune on this foray into the Digital World...
With that thought in mind, he quickly readied himself in short order and equipped all of his various gear items in their appropriate areas of his person and activating them, namely his new "EV Suit" and "Analog Jammer" devices as well as activating his hoverboard aka "Sleipnir MK1". Then, after ensuring that none of his Chatty Cathy personal care mad squad members (i.e., Rose, Lily, and Jasmine) were anywhere in the vicinity of his bedchambers and after he was satisfied with the results of his check, he opened the Digi-Port with his D-Tector via the usual command phrase and action
"Digi-Port Open! Folder Desert!"
With that the standard sliver of the Digi-Port's swirling black void opened in the air directly in front of him and then he tugged on it to open it fully
Then, he stepped inside and within the next minute or so, he was instantly teleported to said destination in the Digital World...or at least that was what he had expected to happen, but then the portal started glitching out something fierce with him still in it and naturally, he had to consult his "Wormmon" Sprite spirit about it
Care to enlighten me as to what is happening here currently, partner? Presumably, this is not a standard occurrence...or am I wrong about that?
His "Wormmon" Sprite spirit seemed to be equally mystified and unfamiliar with this happening, judging from his words
Indeed it is not, Master Edogawa...given that such a phenomenon is occurring currently, it would behoove us, perhaps, to be on guard for anything that may come our way...
In response, Arthur concurred and focused his mind on the task at hand
Agreed. Please keep your senses on full red alert status and notify me if they pick up anything out of the ordinary which is not immediately detectable to my own.
With that, he braced himself for whatever might happen next, but to his surprise, he was brought to what seemed like a giant chessboard of a floor on which there was only two chairs, one being a regular one and the other being a rather ornate one, like that some sort of royalty or deity would take their seat upon while granting an audience to their subjects or guests. So, naturally, he took a seat upon the normal-esque chair and then waited for what seemed like several hours, to him anyway. Finally, however, he was alerted to the approach of some entity and as he looked on, he beheld what seemed to be a goddess of some sort take her seat upon the far more ornate of the two chairs.
Naturally, since he thought he recognized this entity's form from a certain pioneering isekai genre anime from the Human World, Arthur called out inquiring whether this was some strange manifestation inspired by said anime's content, but the goddess in question stopped him before he could finish
"SHHHH!!! The fourth wall has both eyes and ears everywhere!!"
Then, she loudly cleared her throat to signify that he was to proceed no further on the subject and instead changed tacks at the lightspeed to her reason for being there, now speaking in what could be called a goddess-esque tone with a dramatic pose to match
"Greetings, hero! You have been summoned to Goddess Ēléktra's divine presence so that I may incarnate you into the world you are going to now, for you see, that world is being plagued by the Demon Lord and you are the lucky man chosen to be its Savior, so rejoice!"
Arthur merely stared at her silently with pursed lips and his hollow, coal-black eyes seeming to be even more dead than they usually were, presenting the picture of being truly unamused which caused the goddess in question to recoil slightly with her body language clearly indicating her state of shock at not getting the usual response she may have been expecting from Arthur since he was a mortal
"Oh wow, tough crowd, huh? Usually, you guys would be falling all over yourselves and praising me to no end...Fine, whatever...let's just get on with it..."
With that and a rather dejected countenance, she waved her hand, causing several parchment-like scrolls come raining down all around Arthur while remarking
"Anyways, contained in these scrolls, you will find various powers, items, and so on that you may choose to take with you. Naturally, to keep the spirit of the trope, you can only choose one...oh and before you get any funny ideas...like choosing me to be your chea...er, I mean special gift to take with you, don't bother...because this is supposed to be a classic case, 'kay?"
Arthur could scarely believe what he was hearing from this goddess-like being, but he played along for the sake of humoring her even though he had absolutely no idea what was going on
"Very...well, then I choose...this one..."
With that, he snatched one of the scrolls falling nearest to him out of midair and opened it and upon doing so, he felt something change deep inside, meaning as deep as the level of his very DNA, strangely enough. The Goddess Ēléktra nodded, acknowledging his selection and then opened some sort of swirling portal-like gateway off to the side while remarking with a cheery smile on her face which was a surprise to Arthur considering how she was so dejected just several moments ago
"May good fortune smile upon you, hero...I shall see you again here when I return you to your own world again."
Arthur smirked at her and retorted in a rather cheeky fashion, one that was unlike him, but somehow this one seemed to bring out this hithertofore side of him that he did not even know he had in his psyche
"Given your track record, I certainly do hope you do not make a debacle of this, you vacuous and utterly usele.."
He cut himself off since she looked like she was about to genuinely cry and simply hurried off to through the portal, but not before his Sprite spirit, aka "Wormmon", was able to say his piece, having silently watched the proceedings till then
My, I had not realized you had this cruel side to you, Master Edogawa. I do hope you are not planning on breaking the hearts of any other young ladies...
Arthur sighed softly and retorted back as he experienced freefall from the portal that opened in the sky in the new world he was sent to
Come now, what do you take me for, some sort of dastardly lothario?
Unfortunately, Arthur did not have the time to continue that conversation for he was about to hit the ground with a rather high amount of kinetic energy and so, he activated his newfound power over gravity to create a localized antigravity field around his immediate vicinity so that he could stop his descent and instead float down the last few feet to the ground safely. Needless to say, the denizens of this new world, all of whom were heterogenous in composition to keep with the spirit of the trope gathered around and started exclaiming that their "Savior" had come at last. Then, before he could get a word in edgewise, they had literally hoisted him up onto their collective shoulders and then summarily carted him off to the rather ostentatious-looking "Grand Cathedral" where there was the ruling family that presided over the land, their ministers, and so forth and of course the court mage awaiting Arthur's arrival. Once the crowd had deposited him there, they watched as he was then charged with the task of sealing away or destroying the "Demon Lord" who had awakened recently, or so they claimed most vociferously.
So this IS indeed supposed to be some strange isekai adventure, eh? Oh well, as they say, when in Rome...do as the Romans do, I suppose...
Musing thus silently, Arthur proceeded to nod, smile, and put in his two cents whenever asked for by his audience and then set himself to the task of following whatever twisted script the goddess above may have cooked up for him. Luckily, unlike the protagonist in the anime he had been remembering till then, he was not forced to resort to any sort of manual labor to earn money, chase around giant amphibians which were threatening the locals, and so forth. No, instead, he was sent off thenceforth on level-grinding adventures which were as numerous as they were tedious and wherein he had to deal with even more ferocious beasts of all variety and so passed several years in this rather odd parallel, non-Digital World dimension he had been sent to. Thankfully, he had his newfound power of gravity magic and of course, the senses of his "Wormmon" Sprite spirit to rely on, the latter of which still seemed to work in this new world for some unfathomable reason.
Finally, though...the time came for him to spearhead the invasion of the castle and territory that had been set up by the alleged "Demon Lord". So, he did just that as he was just about ready to return home to the Human World. Fortunately, he had quite an easy time of it breezing through all the enemies that came his way due to the fact that he had been so thorough in unlocking every little bit of his gravity magic skill tree, to the point that he had even gone after the most optional of paths, all the easter eggs, and the like. Not only that, he had ensured that he was of sound body and mind over these past several years that he had spent in this world via training with the royal knights till he almost dropped unconscious from exhaustion and staying up for even weeks on end by altering his local temporal flow through the use of his gravity magic's more esoteric options which he had also gone after, like a man possessed, even. Needless to say, all the public works projects and constructive uses of his gravity magic which he had to do over these years had also helped him gain experience in the varying forms of its use. Consequently, he was able to keep the entirety of the punitive force largely intact as he came to face the giant, forbidding, and ornately designed doors that guarded the entryway to the sanctum sanctorum of the lair of this alleged "Demon Lord".
Once that was done, he surged inside, fully expecting there to be some hideous monstrosity with the rather trite cliche of the chained-up lady knight prisoners and other scenes of utter debauchery going on...at least, that was what he expected...given the relentless exhortations he had to endure from the ruling family and all their retainers over these past several years about said "Demon Lord". However, that was not at all even remotely close to what he ACTUALLY saw when he got there. No, what he saw was some strange but completely human-looking pretty boy sitting on a rather ordinary looking wooden chair...painting pictures of...unicorns, flowers, sunshine...and rainbows. Said pretty boy was strangely surprised to see Arthur at his doorstep and inquired of him as to his purpose and thus began their long-winded dialogue which, of course, was not at all what Arthur had been expecting given the data he had been given by his hosts in this world. However, at the end, Arthur grew tired of the conversation and summarily crushed the "Demon Lord", his retainers, and even his entire territory with a mere wave of his hands
Of course, all the pleas of mercy from said "Demon Lord" and his retainers and so forth fell on deaf ears for Arthur as he simply crushed them all into oblivion, much to the consternation of his own side at his ruthlessness which went far beyond what they had asked him to do for them. However, now that the threat was dealt with, his role in this world was over and he was called back to Goddess Ēléktra's realm after which they had a long conversation and then he was sent back to the Human World, reappearing in his bedchambers, looking not a day older than when he had left, which came as a surprise to him. Regardless, there ended this strange tale of his strange isekai adventure and despite himself, Arthur could admit at the end that he did rather enjoy it. Or he would have if it were not for the goddess's rather ominous parting shot that she had left him with
"We'll meet again, hero...and I WILL make you acknowledge me...so take care till then..."
