Tera woke up on the concrete floor again to the sound of metal sliding on concreate, looking up at the light hitting the floor with rows of shadows in the square image of the light, a grim reminder of the Chrome Digizoid bars that blocked Tera from escape. She looked at the spilled tray with the near rotten meat on top of a small salad. She looked at the Goblimon that slid it in with a look of disgust on his face. "You disgusting animal. Can't believe someone like you gets to live after what you did." He said looking at Tera before walking off.
"Not the most hospitable folks around here are they? But all things considered, can't say I blame them." The familiar voice of Kai came to Tera's sense of hearing as she would look over to see her General sat on the floor of the cell wearing her school uniform with her faux glasses on. Tera always liked seeing Kai with them on for some reason. Tera would get up slowly, feeling the chain around her neck pull on her as she got to the other end of the room. Since Tera was a flying Digimon, they took extra precautions with her. Like the cell bars, the chain too was made of Chrome Digizoid. Tera couldn't break out of this place even if she tried, not that she wanted to escape either.
"Yeah, it's like that. Not like I wanna ask for more... I'm done asking for more." Tera said as there was no more spunk of life or unsatiable craving for more in her eyes and demeanor. Flashes of memories flooded her eyes as she saw a field in the rain, her fellow Digimon partners staring at her with mixed reactions. The memories were hazy in some areas. Though she wished the eyes, everyone's eyes, the fear, the hatred, the sadness, she wanted that part of the memory gone as that was still eating her, though she knew she could never ask for such relief.
"What we did that day, cost us everything. It was fun while it lasted." Kai said looking at the cell bars, away from Tera. Tera barely looked at Kai as she would drag the plate from one end of the room to the other so she could eat comfortably. "Maybe if I was in the kitchen it'd end up a bit better, maybe tolerable. If only I had the chance for kitchen duty." She said sighing as she would look at the plate.
"It's... enough." Tera said as she would pick at her food, eating at the dish, though the rankness of the near spoiled meat did make her gag a few times. Tera would feel incredible shame before someone else would arrive on the other side of the bars. The small elderly Digimon Tera knew well from her time as a courier, her former boss, Babamon. "So, here's where you wound up, off course from fate. There's no undoing what was set forth." She said with quite the disappointed tone in her voice as she would stare directly at Tera, ignoring Kai's presence entirely.
"A bit late for tough love to be honest, no need to be so harsh. Why say anything? It cannot to any good for anyone right now." Kai said as she would turn back to Tera, curious as to her reaction to Babamon. "Maybe if you told me the right way, things wouldn't have gone this bad." She said lashing out at Babamon, all she had left was anger and pain that she was desperate to get out in any way she could. Babamon kept her composure as she would look at Tera.
"Even you should have realized what you were did, artificially inducing a full Digivolution was not going to be healthy. Worst is, you didn't tell anyone. No one could have been prepared. Was that treatment worth it? You got what you wanted, just in a different Form. Dark Digivolution, it's a horror, makes monsters out of everyone." She said as she would refer to the experimental clinic trial Tera went under false pretenses. "She's right, if you didn't lie to me, especially before we went training, we may have been able to save you." Kai said as she could see Tera was getting really riled up and agitated before she would turn away from the wall.
"Away! Go, just go. I don't want to see any of you." She said wallowing in her own pity. Babamon silently walked away, seeing her words had no sway over Tera as she was drowning in guilt. "Why push her away? There's no one else who comes, Solarmon, Missies, Sarge, Mach, and the others. They turned their backs on us." Kai said concerned for Tera. "I deserve to be alone, I don't deserve to live, not after what I did. I ruined part of the world. You of all know why..." She said as Tera flashed through memories again as she recalled the rainy field, looking down beneath her was Kai, covered in her own blood with a blank look in her eyes but her face locked into a state of fear, and in the reflection of her eyes Tera could see her reflection as a SkullGreymon. The radical treatment worked, but it was corrupted and fueled by rage. Tera was so desperate to show off the new power she got for the first time she didn't realize she couldn't control it, and in her rage, she struck down her General in one fell swoop.
Kai would stand up as her appearance changed, her uniform covered in blood like the flashback. "That's right. I'm not even here. Am I a ghost haunting my killer? Or just your mind yearning for me? Doesn't matter now. If you push away all that care for you, why should I stick around?" She said before she would start walking, passing through the bars and out of Tera's perception. Truly alone now she would break down and start to sob on the floor, crying out a she had nothing left but her grief and guilt. "Kai... I'm so sorry... I'm sorry, please, forgive me. I am, sorry." She said repeating all through the day and night.
