"L-Lizzie, wait," Shizuka called out pleadingly as she hurried after her stepsister, who was stomping through the woods angrily, occasionally kicking out at any fallen branch, rock or other miscellaneous object unfortunate enough to be in her path. "It's getting late," she pointed out. It was well into evening and combined with the overcast weather, it was rapidly getting darker. "We....we should head back home," Shizuka tried to assert, only to get a dismissive snort from Lizzie.
"Go on home then. Nobody's forcing you to follow me around," she snapped, letting another kick fly at a nearby tree and dislodging a light rain of leaves. Shizuka quickly stepped back out of the tree's shadow but didn't leave.
"I just think we should go back soon. Mother and your father might worry if you're out late without telling them," she tried to reason with the other girl, without success.
"They both ought to know I can take care of myself. Not my problem if they panic every time I go for a walk," Lizzie shot back irritably, drawing back her boot to kick for another kick at a bush. Shizuka sighed worriedly, glancing up at the darkening sky before looking back at Lizzie. As she did, she caught sight of the target of LIzzie's next kick and her eyes widened.
"Wait! Stop!" she shouted in alarm. Startled by the uncharacteristic shouting, Lizzie reflexively tried to spin around while still balanced on one foot and trying to abort her kick. Her legs got tangled together in the process and she fell hard to the ground, grunting in irritation as she landed on her read before shooting a glare at Shizuka.
"What in the hell are you havin' a poody about now?" she yelled, jumping to her feet and storming up to the shyer girl, fists clenched at her side. Shizuka shrank away, eyes wide in panic as she raised a hand to point back at the bush.
"Th-there's an egg," she hastily stammered in explanation, drawing Lizzie up short. "You were going to hit it," she added as Lizzie looked over her shoulder back at the bush. Sure enough, resting at the base of the bush and partially covered by its branches was an egg, though not an ordinary one. Aside from the fact that it was far larger than any egg that Shizuka had ever seen, it was also a leafy green color, hence why Lizzie had initially missed it.
Curious enough to be distracted from her previously stormy mood, she approached the bush and dropped down on her haunches, reaching out to pick it up and extract it from the bush. It felt about natural for an egg, though it was lighter in her hands than she would have expected. "What exactly are you then?" she asked aloud while Shizuka dithered a short distance away.

A flash of white made its way through the park at around 40MPH revealing itself as a beautiful white canine. The spirit wielder relished in the fact that the park seemed quiet so dashing around at top speed felt great. This was her rookie form an ancient extinct digimon called Hinookamimon whose records in the Digital World were mostly lost to time. Soon the sound of voices were picked up by her acute ears as they both twitched in the general direction of the voices. Ah well it looked like the run was over for now so she dedigivolved back into her human self. Despite her young appearance she was much older than she appeared.
Popping her still somewhat sore back until the pain subsided a bit she began walking in the direction of the voices. Stacy then saw two girls that appeared roughly in their teens. They could of been older and she knew that as after all she was forty but looked only twenty five at oldest.
She observed the two girls and one of them seemed to be kicking a tree for some reason while the other seemed to be trying to convince them to head home. It seemed not to work out though as the girl who was kicking the tree had turned to focus her attention on a bush only to be stopped by the other girl. When an egg was drawn from within the bushes that had Stacy's full attention and she began moving closer before stepping on a shoelace that had come undone causing her to trip barely avoiding faceplanting as she landed unceremoniously on her stomach with a sharp but brief yelp. 'Smooth, Stacy. Real smooth.' Stacy thought knowing she was likely heard. Maybe one of them even saw her fall too.

As cracks quickly began to spread across the surface of the egg in Lizzie's hands, she almost dropped it by reflex, just barely managing to keep a grip on it. "I think it's hatching," she said in surprise. Before Shizuka could answer, a loud thud and a yelp startled her and sent her scurrying over to Lizzie.
"Um, hello," she called out uncertainly to where the sound had come from. "Are you alright?" she added after a moment's pause, logic catching up with her and pointing out that it had sounded like somebody had fallen. Looking closer, she could see a woman fallen on the ground. "Are you alright, miss? Can I-" she began to offer her help when Lizzie interrupted.
"Who are you?" she asked bluntly, causing Shizuka to flinch at her bluntness. "What are you doing out here?" she demanded, entirely ignoring the fact that she herself had no real reason for being here beyond wanting to avoid going home. She turned to face the fallen woman, also leaving her facing in Shizuka's direction, just as the spiderweb of cracks finally covered the entirety of the egg in her hands. At that moment, the egg suddenly lit up with a bright light, drawing the attention of both girls. Shizuka gasped and leaned back away from the now brightly shining egg, while Lizzie shot her arms out, holding it away from her body.
The ball of light that the egg had become seemed to shift in her arms, its shape rapidly changing as if it couldn't decide what form to take until with a sudden burst of a sharp, static-liken noise, it split apart into four small balls of light. Two of these balls of light promptly lifted out of Lizzie's arms and flew directly at Shizuka, who threw up her arms with a squeak of alarm. The other two remained in Lizzie's arms and all four quickly shifted into more stable shapes before the light started to fade, revealing their new forms.
Two of the balls of light, one from each pair, had apparently turned into a pair of small, electronic devices, identical in shape but distinct in color. Lizzie's was dark grey, almost black, with dark green grips along the side. Shizuka's, on the other hand, was light green with bright pink grips.
As strange as those were, it was the other two forms that drew the most attention. The one that had come to rest in Shizuka's raised hands was a small ball of fluff, which might not have been so strange if not for the fact that a patch on one side of the ball was bereft of that fluff, revealing a pair of dark eyes set into blue skin, with a pair of antennae sprouting from directly above them. The one in Lizzie's arms seemed to be a black, seed-like being surrounded by a thin, watery film with two small leaves sprouting from the top. And more critically, a pair of glowing yellow eyes that were blinking up at her and a mouth that was open in a yawn.
"What the hell?" Lizzie asked, stunned into slipping into English. "What is this dwt little thing?" she asked, raising the seed-like entity in her arms and proffering it towards Shizuka, who was now holding her own little creature outstretched away from her, along with the strange device.
"I-I don't know!" Shizuka shot back in Japanese somewhat shrilly, bordering on panic as she realized that the thing in her hands had not taken its eyes off of her and seemed to be glaring at her.

One of the girls sounded uncertain as she called out to Stacy as it was clear that her clumsiness, while not seen, was defnitely heard. As embarassing as the sudden tumble was she appeared to be otherwise fine as she, while pushing herself up into a seated position, said "It's okay. I'm good."
However the other girl was clearly the alpha of the pair as she was talking to Stacy with a blunt tone but Stacy herself seemed unbothered as she casually said "Chill out. I mean no harm to either of you. To be honest if I didn't trip over my own two feet you wouldn't of known that I was here at all unless I said something directly to you."
Meanwhile the egg hatching continued Lizzie held the egg away from her as it had began glowing brightly. Though Stacy was sitting away from the girls she was even shielding her eyes cursing her light sensitivity. Four balls of light then split from where the egg was and two headed for each girl each becoming what looked like a digivice and digimon respectively. Apparently these two were new tamers and the digimon were a set of twins. The wee little ones were pretty cute as well.
The girls were understandably freaked out at the sight of the small digimon not realizing the new born digimon were harmless to them so Stacy, in Japanese, said "Take it easy, you two. I doubt those cute little ones could hurt you if they tried since they are newborns."

In spite of her panic at the presence of the two newborn digimon, Lizzie still bristled at the unknown woman's casual dismissal. "Oh, so you were just going to spy on us from the shadows then, eh? That supposed to be reassuring?" she challenged irritably.
"I'm sure that's not what she meant," Shizuka interjected, though the majority of her attention was still fixed on the small fuzzball in her hands, which was still primarily glaring at her, although it had briefly shifted its gaze in the direction of the other two when they were speaking. It also appeared to be growling faintly, its body vibrating in her grip. "Um, do you know what these are?" she asked the woman nervously. Despite her assertion that they were essentially harmless as newborns, she was still uncomfortable holding what seemed like a very angry creature of indeterminate origins in her hands. "I'm sorry for what Lizzie said. She didn't mean-"
"Don't apologize for me!" Lizzie snapped, drawing her own creature closer to her and cradling it with one arm so that she could turn to face Shizuka and the other woman more directly, one hand on her hip. "And don't be sayin' what I do or don't mean either! I mean what I say and I say we can deal with this ourselves. Whatever this is," she insisted truculently. The creature under her arm gurgled discontentedly at her loud arguing, which drew the attention of the Yuramon in Shizuka's hands, which turned to look at her and grumbled irritably, although its glare did seem to lessen slightly.

Seemed like one of the girls was the suspicious type but Stacy kept her cool but boy she was never like that as a child. "I was hardly intending to spy. I was planning on waiting till things calmed down regarding the egg to introduce myself but, well I tripped on an untied shoelace and startled you two. For that I'm sorry."
Not put off by Lizzie Stacy nodded at Shizuka's question before she said "Yes I am aware of what the little ones are. Two years ago I received a divice similar to the one you have when it came out of my laptop and landed in my lap." She reached over to the digivice cradle on her right arm taking her D-Tector out and holding it out with her left hand showing the blue device with flame patterns on the sides to the girls. "As you can see mine is a different model than yours. As for what the little ones are they are creatures from a world connected to our own called the Digital World and the residents are sentient monsters of many shapes and sizes called digimon. Though I have never seen the species you have with you before." She then pointed the D-Tector towards the digimon in Lizzie's arm and said "It says here that the one in your arms is called Nyokimon." She then pointed it at the other digimon in Shizuka's arm and said "And the other digimon is called Yuramon."
Stacy sighed at Lizzie snapping and slowly rose to her feet keeping her distance and posture neutral in a silent way to keep things calmer. Last thing the forty year old woman needed was to be involved in a potential fist fight with a teenager. "Yikes. Calm down. Like I said before I mean no harm. Are you always so suspicious of people you just meet?" Stacy shook her head before she looked at the girls again before she said "Anyway. My name is Stacy."

Lizzie scowled, unconvinced by Stacy's apology. She did listen to the woman's explanation though, her eyebrow steadily climbing as she said more. "That's clean off," she finally said bluntly and any confusion caused by the Welsh slang which she insisted on maintaining even while speaking Japanese was cleared up by her clearly dubious tone.
"Um, it might sound off," Shizuka hesitantly interjected. "But I don't think we really have a better explanation? I mean, a giant green egg just lit up and hatched into two strange creatures and a pair of these things," she pointed out, taking one hand off of Yuramon in order to wave the digivice at Lizzie. "So I guess it sort of makes sense that the explanation would be strange as well, maybe?" she suggested, obviously uncomfortable with how Lizzie was now scowling at her.
"Of course you choose now of all times to get chopsy with me," she grumbled before returning her gaze to Stacy. "And you. I'm only suspicious of people[ who show up in the middle of the woods just in time to swoop in with an explanation for a weird thing like this," she said. Fortunately, as both she and Shizuka were now looking at Stacy, she could only see the back of Shizuka's head and thus missed the apologetically dubious look Shizuka shot in Stacy's direction, silently indicating her disagreement with that claim.
"Ah, I am Shizuka, and this is my sister, Lizzie," Shizuka introduced herself. Lizzie quickly interrupted with a protest of "stepsister," but this was more out of reflex than anything else and Shizuka barely reacted, familiar with Lizzie's naturally argumentative nature on that topic. "It's very nice to meet you and we appreciate you telling us this very much," she said politely with a bow, wincing slightly at the dismissive snort Lizzie gave from behind her. In doing so she wound up drawing the Yuramon closer to her torso and it continued to glare outwards, having primarily fixed its gaze on Stacy. The Nyokimon, meanwhile, seemed to be looking around with open curiosity, clearly lacking its sibling's hostile nature.

Stacy noticed that Lizzie still looked suspicious of her and she couldn't really blame the teen given the circumstances of how they met but in her normal human form she wasn't likely a threat to either girl as she was not only slow moving but had virtually no upper body strength to speak of. She did have strong legs but add her lack of coordination and one strong kick could send her on her ass not to mention her wretched reflexes.
"Look you guys have every right to be suspicious of me given how we met under awkward circumstances which is why I am keeping my distance. I am trying to show you I mean no harm." Stacy said as Shizuka stepped in as if trying to make sense of what they were told. At least she had a level head it seemed despite seeming timid.
"As for myself, my bond with digimon is different than yours due to the nature of my particular digivice which is what these devices are. You two seem to have the model known as a D3. As for mine it is called a D-Tector and allows humans such as myself to channel the power of digimon spirits to become various species of digimon." she said knowing that being partnered with digimon was wild enough but the thought of some humans being able to gain the power of a digimon was also pretty wild.

Stacy's conciliatory words, unfortunately, only further irritated Lizzie, who hated to feel like she was being handled, but didn't leave her much room to continue arguing. "You can turn into one of these dwt little things?" she asked skeptically, rising Nyokimon in one hand. "Not sure why you'd want to, to be honest. They're not exactly impressive to look at," she said dismissively. The Nyokimon in her hand squeaked angrily and managed to spin around to look back at Lizzie. The digimon inhaled deeply before spitting out a single seed which struck Lizzie's forehead. "Gah! Diawl bach!" she hissed, slipping into Welsh in her irritation. The Nyokimon simply huffed irritably, meeting her gaze unflinchingly.
"Lizzie! Are you okay?" Shizuka asked in concern, stepping closer to Lizzie only to get waved off.
"I'm fine!" she snapped. "Little bastard caught me by surprise is all," she said, rubbing the small mark on her forehead irritably. "Reckon you think you're funny, don't you, little Myomimon or whatever you're called." At that, the digimon frowned again before opening its mouth and managing to speak for the first time.
"A-la-ric!" she squeaked in a shaky but distinctly girly voice, startling both new tamers.
"The hell? What was that?" Lizzie asked incredulously, but the digimon didn't seem likely to elaborate. Shizuka hesitated for a moment before making a suggestion.
"Maybe it's a name? You were asking what to call it, or her, after all," she pointed out. As if to confirm this, the Nyokimon made an affirmative squeak while Yuramon grunted in what might have been agreement.
"A-la!" Nyokimon repeated firmly.
"Ric," the Yuramon then grunted, startling Shizuka once again. While this one's voice was still a touch squeaky, it was noticeably lower than Nyokimon's and a touch more gravelly, leading her to tentatively guess that it was male.
"So... Ala and Ric, maybe?" she suggested uncertainly, getting another set of affirmative squeaks and grunts from the two digimon.

"Yes but my spirits are not baby digimon forms but stronger digimon." Stacy said as if still not fazed by Lizzie. The teen had every right to be wary of her and Stacy decided it would be best to leave it at that since trying to say she was harmless was only fanning the flames. "Your partners are newborns and newborn digimon aren't exactly complex looking lifeforms." Stacy said her tone coming off as calm and peaceful as the general vibe of the park. She was used to her youngest brother's firey temper so Lizzie didn't truely bother her all that much.
Then Nyokimon squeaked angrily clearly not happy with being called not very impressive and spat a seed from its mouth catching the teen on the forehead. Somehow Stacy was able to avoid laughing though the sight was pretty amusing. Seems the little one had spirit. Definitely a good fit for Lizzie.
What next happend not only surprised Lizzie and Shizuka but Stacy as well as little Nyokimon began to speak with a female voice saying A-la-ric. "Well I'll be. I didn't know digimon started talking so soon after hatching but I guess it makes sense given you two are tamers." Stacy said. When Nyokimon and Yuramon then said A-la and Ric respectively it seemed the little ones names had been decided.
Stacy looked at the pair of digimon and, with a smile, said "Nice to meet you, Ala and Ric."

"So you're saying they're going to get bigger?" Lizzie questioned, still eyeing the Nyokimon, now named Ala, cautiously. Fortunately, Ala did not seem inclined to lash out at her again and while the small welt she had left on Lizzie's forehead stung, it was hardly the worst injury she had ever attained.
"How much bigger do they get, if you don't mind me asking?" Shizuka asked warily. While Ric had not yet made any explicitly hostile moves like Ala, he was nonetheless giving off the general impression that he would so at the first provocation. If spitting seeds was the worst they had to offer then it wouldn't be a problem but if they got much bigger, then that would be something to worry about. "And what do you mean by tamers, exactly? We just stumbled across that egg by chance. Should we try to find their parents? Or somebody in charge of them?" she suggested uncertainly.
"Don't be a twp," Lizzie chided her. "If there was some sort of group in charge of these things, we'd have heard of them before now. And the egg was just lying about in the middle of nowhere. If they have parents, then they're obviously not good ones," she pointed out. Irritating as the situation was for her, she wasn't planning on just abandoning the two digimon now that she knew they were babies. And she supposed Ala was sort of cute. Spirited too, which she would reluctantly admit was impressive.
The two digimon who had been listening to all of this had different reactions to Stacy's greeting. Ala preened visibly, happy to have been properly greeted by somebody at last. Ric, on the other hand, narrowed his eyes at the woman and vibrated with a defensive growl, squeezing himself down further in Shizuka's hand.

"Yup. Though how big they'll get with time is hard to say given no two digimon are exactly the same." Stacy said to Lizzie taking note of how calm Ala was now. "As for how much bigger they'll get that's hard to say given digimon come in many shapes and sizes some small and others gigantic. Digimon as they mature go through multiple stages of development akin to metamorphosis through a process called digivolution. The stages are fresh, which is the current state Ala and Ric are in, in training, rookie, champion, ultimate, mega, and super mega." Stacy explained.
"While I don't know the process of how humans are chosen in most cases I know it isn't uncommon for eggs to practically be sent to the chosen human or humans in your guys' case. Tamers are humans that are partnered with digimon in order to not only live together but help each other overcome various obstacles. As your partners digivolve they can also keep you two from being easy prey from agressive digimon." Stacy said and when the subject of parents for Ala and Ric came up, Stacy then said "If Ala and Ric have parents its hard to say as they could also have been reborn from a previous life as well."
Stacy smiled at the pair of baby digimon noting their postures and said "It seems the cute little ones have opposite personalities is some regards but both of them seem pretty spirited."

"So you don't know how big they'll get, or where exactly they came from or how exactly they got here?" Lizzie summarized condescendingly. "Fat lot of good that is," she muttered grumpily, lifting Ala up to examine her more closely while keeping Stacy in her peripheral vision.
"Ah, but we are- I mean, the information you gave us is very helpful," Shizuka interjected hastily, barely avoiding saying anything that Lizzie might consider as speaking for her. The Welsh girls still grumbled irritably at the implication that they should be grateful but otherwise remained focused on Ala. "But if I may ask and it's not too much trouble, what did you mean by a previous life? Do digimon have some sort of system of reincarnation or resurrection?" she asked tentatively. Ric in her hands gave a discontented grumble at that, but she couldn't decipher if that meant he was disagreeing, if he didn't like the topic or if he was just upset for unrelated reasons.
"Spirited is right," Lizzie agreed in regard of the digimon's personalities. She cast a sideways glance at Shizuka, her voice softening marginally with concern. "You going to be okay with that one? He seems a bit grouchy for you?" she asked.
"What? Oh, um, no, I'm sure it will be fine. I'm sure he'll calm down and get settled soon enough," Shizuka said uncertainly. The glare on Ric's face didn't change at all, which was perhaps not the most optimistic sign, but he had yet to actually attack Shizuka or anybody else, which seemed to be a point in his favor over Ala.
"Alright then. Good on you, beaut," Lizzie said approvingly, glad that Shizuka wasn't panicking over this.

"I do know where digimon come from and how to get to the Digital World. Not only are there natural portals there is a way to get there from Shibuya Station." Stacy said thinking that maybe in Lizzie's hostility the teen didn't hear her clearly when she mentioned the Digital World. Stacy knew how that felt as if her emotions were out of whack she would also miss the occasional key detail.
"Yes digimon do, Shizuka. Digimon by nature of being made of digital data can be reborn as long as nothing happens to their data when they die. If the data is consumed by another digimon for example then the digimon will not be reborn. However the resurrection process has one flaw and that is that digimon who are reborn aren't guaranteed to keep their memories of a previous life."
Stacy glanced at Ric who still didn't seem happy and a thought came to her head as she said "Maybe Ala and Ric are hungry. I know I can get irritable if hungry enough."

"Sure, they come from this other world you mentioned but that's not very specific, is it?" Lizzie snapped. "The egg these two came from could have been left here by their parent, or it could have been that they died here and were reborn in an egg, or the egg could have just been magically transported here for us to find. Not exactly helpful information," she scoffed, although Shizuka took note of another part of what Shizuka had said.
"Shibuya Station? You can get there by train?" she asked, surprised. She had assumed that digimon and this Digital World were relatively unknown. She had certainly never heard of any trains from Shibuya leaving for anywhere unusual like that.
As Stacy explained the process of rebirth that digimon went through, it drew both Ala and Ric's attention. Both of them had memories of their shared past life, albeit both remembering different details with varying levels of clarity. Their juvenile, fresh forms, however, lacked the ability to communicate effectively. They had just about been able to get out their names and would have no chance of explaining their past in any detail. Of course, Ric would be unlikely to volunteer that much information regardless but Ala at least found herself frustrated by her current form's limitations.
Ric's deep frown didn't exactly lessen when Stacy mentioned that they might be hungry but it did seem to catch his attention. Unfortunately, when Lizzie searched through her pockets, she found only the empty wrapper of a snack bar she had eaten earlier that day. "I don't have anything. Wouldn't know what to feed them anyway," she stated bluntly before peering at Shizuka and the digimon in her hands. "Does yours even have a mouth?" she asked curiously, prompting Shizuka to blink in surprise and look down at Ric.
"Ah, maybe under this hair?" she suggested, still uncertain. Ric's eyes narrowed slightly further as he stared back at her, not making any effort to show whether or not he had a mouth, or how he would eat any food if they did have some.
