‘Holy shit, what have I gotten myself into?’ Meryl thought as she broke into a cold sweat, watching whatever the hell Arlo was as he put his disguise back on. ‘His face, his legs, that tail…they’re all real. How in the hell is this possible? Is he an alien? No, no, no, a mutant perhaps? Does Japan have an underground society full of ‘em? Oh god, I feel like I’m in one of those Japanese Anime or something!’
Following Arlo, Meryl was still in shocked silence, still trying to wrap her head around this whole ordeal she got herself caught in. Arlo explained that he was looking for a person by the name of Kaya Matsui, whom the friend he is looking for often visits. He then admitted that he didn’t know where she was, which stunned the Trinidadian. He asked if there was a way to find someone like her in a big city like this.
Meryl shrugged. “I dunno. That’s like finding a needle in a really large haystack. Whatcha suggesting is next to impossible. Unless…”
Meryl took out her phone and went onto her social media, typing Kaya Matsui’s name in.
“If she has a social network account, I can see if I can find her from there. But just searching for her name is not enough. That’ll be too wide of a search.” She looked up at him before wincing, still uncomfortable by his appearance. “Your uhh…friend talked about him a lot, ya? Do you remember anything that he said about her, like her hobbies, likes, dislikes, or school she goes to?”
“Why am I here instead in the Digital World, you ask…” Ciel repeated as he landed on the snowy pavement. He mused for a second, wondering if he should relay any details of his mission to a commoner. He blinked, finally making up his mind.
“Because my mission is here, in the human world. With our world and the human world becoming more intertwined with one another every day, certain affairs have recently taken the Crack Team’s interest.” Ciel explained. “Why you may ask? I’m afraid that’s all very much classified. Can’t reveal too much without getting into trouble with my superiors. Nothing personal~”
Ciel couldn’t help but frown in confusion at Luneth’s reaction before he nonchalantly waved his hand. “Yeah…cheers, but I’ll decide for myself what I wanna do around humans, thanks.”
He rolled his eyes. ‘Bossy little snob, this one…’ he thought to himself.
The Espimon listened to Luneth’s story as to why he was going incognito, his friend lied to the Hackmon about being the only person that he needed him. The details as to why, he didn’t know. But apparently, it hurt the Digimon enough to run away from him. This was a delicate matter, something he wasn’t quite experienced in. Under normal circumstances, he would wish a Digimon good luck and fly off since it’s none of his business. But as a trained spy, empathy was one of the important skills he was taught, learning how people think and how their minds work so that they can better understand how to gain their trust.
Maybe…maybe he could gain some information from this Hackmon on where he could find this Vergil Hoskins fellow. It was time to put that skill to good use.
“Sounds like a complicated situation…” the Espimon said, holding his hand to his nonexistent chin as he began to carefully think of his next words. “Well, everyone has secrets: the ones that we keep, and the ones that are kept from us. From what you’ve told me, maybe he had his own reasons not to reveal them to you. I don’t think it’s warranted to get all sulky about people not telling you everything about themselves in the first conversation; that kind of stuff comes naturally. If you expect that from everyone you meet, you’re gonna have a pretty miserable life."
