Rushing off into the woods, hearing the sounds of yelling and screaming behind him fading into the trees behind him Gulus slowed down slightly once he was sure he didn't hear anyone following him, they were made sure but not mad enough to pursue him this far away from the village. His sprint switched to a walk and his walk became slower than a crawl through the woods. Stopping near a tree with his head down for a moment, letting out a small sigh of annoyance. "I didn't even do anything!" He shouted as he punched towards his right, slamming into the tree and knocking the base down with one frustrated punch, the Tree quickly went sideways then fell against his strength.
Some outsiders had come to his village and managed to break one of the buildings, instead of owning up to it they decided to just book it and guess who got blamed for it in their place? Yup Gulus was one again the one to blame. "Guess I should just be glad that other digimon isn't getting in trouble, probably deserves to get away with it. And I guess I just deserve to be run out of town." This was the first time they full on ran him out of town like this, basically forcing him to leave to the woods nearby. Dropping down and sitting next to the broken stump he just made Gulus had his head in his hands just staring at the floor for a few moments, contemplating what to do.
However he wouldn't have long to think about his next move before he would hear someone shouting nearby, a bit further into the woods but their voice managed to barely carry over to where he was. "H-y, I- A--on- Th--e?" It was a bit hard for him to make out but he figured out what they were saying pretty easily, maybe someone had gotten lost in the woods? He heard it happened from time to time, then some Impmon spirits come to try and take the lost digimon away... Yeah best he go help with that. So pushing his prior feelings down Gulus stood up and started to make his way towards the source of the noise.
The voice in question belonged to Naoto Akira, but not the same Nao that many would be used to. Just at a glance she was a lot younger, three years to be precise. Wearing her school's uniform while she wandered around the woods alone. "This definitely isn't the Shibuki forest, where am I?" Last thing she recalled was bumping into someone holding what looked like a cellphone and falling a lot farther then she thought she should be, before ending up not on the cement floor but soft grass surrounded by trees.
"Maybe I got Isekai'd? No, I was indoors. Don't think a Truck could've run me over from where I was." Sure there was other ways to get Isekai'd but she doesn't feel like she died? But the only way to make sure was to keep walking around hoping to find someone who could help.
"Hey, are you ok?"
A friendly sounding voice came from her side, turning to address the voice revealed a face that was much less friendly than their voice entailed, completely dark and purple with a massive cloak and horn, looked like someone straight outta one of Naoto's shows, but the claws and spikes, those set the young human off who, instead of talking to the creature, simply started screaming and running in the opposite direction, scared out of her mind by the digital monster in front of her and the situation surrounding her.
Gulus reached his hand out and was going say something but as she ran, he simply let the weight of his arms drop them to his side with his eyes closed. Slowly he simply fell to his knees clutching his head in his hands. "Even complete strangers run from me, what the hell have I done wrong? What'd I do to deserve this. Can't anyone tell me what the hell I did!" There was some frustration at Nao for running but most of it seemed to come from a lingering frustration towards everything in his life, yelling at the sky for answers since, to him at least, it seemed more likely to answer about what he did wrong than anyone around him would.
Nao didn't hear that part and just ran for a decent while till she realized she only heard her footsteps, she didn't hear anyone else pursing her. Stopping for a moment Nao made her way back slowly to find the same creature she had just ran from was now on his knees crying. Which just made Nao feel like absolute shit, recalling in her mind that she wasn't supposed to judge others till she got to know them, even if she's in a scary situation.
Debating in her head for a moment what to do, her heroic nature won out quickly as she made her way over to the digimon, stopping right next to him. He didn't seem to notice her till she started patting him on the back. His head snapped over to looking at her before going back to looking down. "Sorry, I. Shouldn't of approached you, I was wrong to do so." Gulus said instantly apologizing despite not thinking he had done anything wrong, it had to be his fault somehow right?
"No-No-No, Don't apologize! I'm sorry. I'm just lost and a bit scared if I'm honest, seeing a creature I never have before just kinda tipped that over the edge. Heck you probably could've been tiny, fluffy and pink and I'd of acted the same way." Nao said with a smile trying to cheer the digimon up, it seemed to work slightly as a small smile crossed his face.
Gulus looked up and got a good view of Nao, good enough that is actually caused him to back up a bit, shocked. "Oh wait, you're a human! Wow. I never see your kind around here without a partner."
Nao was a bit confused on what he meant by partner but judging by his words there were other humans around here. "Yup, least last time I checked I was." Nao seemed to completely forget about her worries, about being lost and just about her situation in general in favor of what this creature was going through. "So, what's up? I doubt that crying was just because I ran?" Nao asked sitting down cross legged in front of the digimon. "My name's Naoto Akira by the way, though everyone just calls me Nao. Kids call me Aki sometimes though, but I don't think you count as a kid heh."
"Gulus Gammamon, though everyone just calls me Gulus." he sounded a bit downcast at that, Nao could guess it wasn't a nickname for him fully. "As for what's frustrating me, it doesn't matter. I'm already over it all, we should focus on getting you out of the wo-" However he was stopped by a cross chop on the top of the head by Nao, lightly and playfully of course not an actual hit.
"Hey, none of that. If it made you cry you're definitely not over it. We can get outta here at anytime." Nao leaned back slightly, smiling. "Besides, lets just say it's my way of making up for the fact I ran from you, you were only trying to help so, let me help you now!" Gulus couldn't really fight with that argument.
So he decided to tell her everything, about how his village seemed to blame him for everything, about how they all seemed to feel justified in doing so once he became this form and the more recent problem of them blaming him for breaking a building and running him out of town, leading to him being here. Nao listened patiently to all of this for a while, nodding her head along with what he was saying. However once he finished she stood up straight and started walking in the direction he pointed his village being in.
"W-wait, where are you going?" Gulus asked rising up as well to a standing position as he watched her walk off.
"Oh nowhere, I'm just gonna go beat the tar and yell at every single creature in that village." She said cracking her knuckles as she started sprinting down towards the village, however Gulus was much, much faster than her and stood in front of her for a moment, stopping her advance. "Look you've told me enough, they can't treat anyone like that! That's not right in the slightest! They got you crying in the woods. I can't stand by anyone who treats someone so badly they do that!" Seems she was very much focused on delivering justice to that village after hearing his tale.
"Like I said before it's fine, it's just what I deserve I guess. I don't want them to feel bad about anything or give them more reason to be mad at me by yelling at them. I just gotta grin and bare it, hopefully they'll stop and realize I'm not that bad eventually..." That was, a horribly toxic way to think about this. So much so it left Nao slightly stunned.
However when she managed to get her focus back she grabbed the digimon by the hand and dragged him down to her eye level. "No, you deserve to be treated the same way you treat others. They shouldn't do this to you just because you're a Virus or whatever the heck that means! It's not right and it's not fair, people like that don't just wake up and realize they've been a jerk their whole lives. You gotta do something to show them the results of treating you that way." Nao let go for a moment, turning around and crossing her arms for a second thinking of a way. "Hey, is there a way to get back to my world from here?" There were other humans here, he implied that before so maybe.
"Yeah, you can take a Trailmon over to the station in the human world, they let any human on board." He didn't know about the other path but that wouldn't work considering she didn't have a digivice. After hearing that Nao grabbed his hand, holding them down and looking up at him with an excited look.
"Then how about you ditch these losers and come to my world!" Gulus seemed a bit stunned at the question, unsure how to respond for a moment. "It'll be perfect, you can come crash with me and my family and then later we can come back and see how those losers are doing without their favorite punching back to blame everything on! I mean, we'll hafta be a bit sneaky but I'm sure we can do it!"
Gulus paused for a decent while before looking away. "I can't, I hafta stay just in case they need me for something. I can't just run away with a girl I just met. Even if she is nice." He said that last part quietly looking away, refusing to meet her gaze by looking at the floor. However Nao simply shoved her head between his arms and looked up at his eyes, making them meet.
"I promise you, if anything happens, we can come right back right? It's just a hop a skip and a train ride over here apparently!" She was making a better and better argument the more she talked. "Plus people in my world would appreciate you a lot more, there's a ton of people who love designs that look like you! It's cool and imposing."
Gulus still didn't seem too sure, however looking back he could still hear some digimon that hadn't given up their chase yet and were looking for him to yell at him, try and get mad for something he didn't do. hearing that pushed his choice over the edge and helped him make his final choice. "Alright, Naoto Akira. I'll come with you." With that he reached his hand out to shake hers, however she quickly forced his hand to form a fist instead.
"Where I come from, this is better." She said giving the dark digimon a fist bump.
And with that a three year journey had started, while they would not be tamer and digimon until recently they'd go on to form a tight bond within those three years, cultivating a powerful friendship that none could break easily
