MPC Name: Tanabata Star Festival MPC Number: 107D Reward Requested: Bits
The yearly Star Festival had begun, and all around Miyashita Park. Many stalls of all sizes, colors and styles had been set up. All the classic games; goldfish scooping and water gun shooting. Not to mention, the hundreds of delectable smelling food stands.
Of course, the little shark had absolutely no idea what any of this was. From her solitary perch, the wall at the an old building which had been left abandoned for a while now. Levi’s large yellow eyes followed very fancily people who were moving in familial packs towards the park. She tilted her head a little to one side, trying to understand but no matter how hard she stared, no epiphany came to her. Although, the drifting smell of deliciousness caused her to sniff the air, longingly.
As night fell over Shibuya, unable to resist her wishes any more, Levi jumped down. Landing ever so softly in the alleyway below. She pulled a D-Terminal out as if from nowhere and swung the lid open. With difficultly due to her lack of opposable thumbs or any fingers really, she pressed at the buttons on the screen. With a loud popping noise, Levi the shark vanished, replaced by Levi the girl, who was admittedly still wearing shark-like attire, had long sharp teeth and a tail that hung behind her.
Now, in human form, or a disguised version of it. Levi moved forward, jumping over the chain fence with a single bound and ran across the road towards the park. The closer she got, the more noise emanated from the surrounding area. Chatter, cheers, excitement… even the occasional pop of a firework going up into the air and then bursting into a shower of colors.
Halfway down the park’s long winding path, one of the tents which had been erected lay open. Within it was an old man crouched behind a small wooden box with an opening and a flat shelf. Above it, he moved a bunch of elegantly carved, oaken puppets on strings. Many children and even some adults were sat, cross-legged, beneath the platform. Levi paused to listen to the tale as it was spoken and acted out by the puppeteer.
“Once upon a time, a woman named Orihime and a Hikoboshi lived across a river of the heavens. Orihime weaved the most beautiful kimonos while Hikoboshi worked hard herding cattle. Orihime’s father, the God of the Sky, was looking for a marriage partner for his daughter. Eventually, he introduced her to Hikoboshi, a hard worker. Hikoboshi and Orihime fell in love at once and became husband and wife.
But they fell so deeply in love that they began to neglect their duties. All of the Kimonos lost their colors and weren’t beautiful anymore. All the cows got sick and caused a famine across the land. God was angry and forced them to live separate from one another across the Heavenly River as punishment. However, God, who pitied the grieving Orihime, permitted that the two meet each other at the shores of the heavenly river only one night of the year, July 7.”
“They worked hard afterward in preparation for the day, and they wait expectantly for the Star Festival every year. However, unfortunately, the date of Tanabata is in the rainy season, so if it rains on that night, the only chance when Hikoboshi and Orihime can meet all year, the Heavenly River will be flooded with rainwater. Both lovers will be unable to meet each other. But it is said that when the river overflows, a Magpie flies to help them.
When you look up in the sky at night, you will be able to find their stars and the Milky Way. The Heavenly River represents the Milky Way, the galaxy containing the solar system and our Earth. Orihime’s star represents Vega which is located to the west of the Milky Way, one of the brightest stars. Hikoboshi’s star represents Altair, which is located to the east of the Milky Way. When you find their stars, think about the story of Orihime and Hikoboshi.” The puppeteer finished the story and stood. Bowing to the audience before pointing to a series of very young-looking bamboo plants that had been placed to one side of the tent.
“There are Tanabata festivals held a day before July 7th, and a day afterward in every region of Japan. People write their wishes on colorful paper strips and hang them on bamboo branches. So everyone, grab yourself a card and write down your wishes.” The little shark merely, watching the children move forward to take the cards to scribble on.

Vera wanted to go to the Star Festival since she hadn’t seen it much before in the Digital World, so to their luck, one would be held in Miyashita Park. When they arrived there, they could both see stalls set up for different things such as food being served or the classic games being played there. Viki herself would respect the traditions that the Star Festival had since there were also some shrines about with the little paper strips for making a wish on a tanzaku. They both watched the night come blanket the sky as it was usually when the Star Festival would come alive with its colorful lights being lit by the lanterns held up by wires. While the two ladies would make their way across the park’s long winding path, a stall had a puppet show going on for the younger kids to see. The puppeteer told a story of the love between a cow herder prince and his princess where they were very much in love that they neglected their duties. “How romantic… Do we think we could find someone like that too?” Vera asks the British-Russian heiress and with her orange hair standing out, the children that took their cards to scribble on bumped into Vera and wanted to ask why she looked like this. “I…I am not sure. It will be some time before I get to that point.” A little blush came on VIktoriya’s cheeks though she does laugh a little over the questions the children asked. “Looks like they are curious about you.” Their bright faces reminded her of her little cousins and their excitement over getting birthday gifts last year. While Vera answers the questions from the little children, she goes over to get two cards from the puppeteer for both her and Viki to make their wishes on and notices a short young girl in a shark-like outfit with a little tail too. “Oh? Are you here to enjoy the festival too? You’re so adorable!” ℳ𝒾𝓏𝑜.☽[newclass=.joker]width: 360px; height: 140px; padding: 20px; background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0); -moz-transition: 3s all; -webkit-transition: 3s all; -o-transition: 3s all; transition: 1s all;[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .joker]background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.4); -moz-transition: 3s all; -webkit-transition: 3s all; -o-transition: 3s all; transition: 1s all;[/newclass][newclass=.game]text-align:center; line-height: 9px; margin-top:10px;opacity:0;font:bold 10px muli; letter-spacing: 2px; color: #ffffff; text-transform: uppercase; -webkit-transition-duration:.3s;transition-delay: .3s;transition-duration:.3s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass][newclass=.game a]font:bold 10px muli; letter-spacing: 2px; font-style: italic; color: #ffffff;[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .game]margin-top:0px;opacity:1;transition-delay: .3s; -webkit-transition-duration:.3s;transition-duration:.3s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass][newclass=.ninety]width:400px;height:180px;background-image:url(https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/512624540984279040/1125093006727454760/IMG_8004.jpg);[/newclass] [newclass=.kikan]width: 65px; height: 65px; border: 1px solid #e3e3e3; transform: rotate(45deg); z-index: 2; margin-top: -27px; margin-bottom: -39px; filter: grayscale(100%);-webkit-filter: grayscale(100%);-moz-filter: grayscale(100%);[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .kikan]filter: grayscale(0%);-webkit-filter: grayscale(0%);-moz-filter: grayscale(0%); transition: 0.6s; transition-timing-function: linear;[/newclass][googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Open+Sans]

Curiously, Levi watched the small children moving forward into the tent. Each of them clutching at a crayon and a strip of card in various colors. Then, she stepped forward as if to move into the tent herself. Unsure, if she could also draw on one of those strips of card, too. Or if she wasn’t allowed to do so. As she did so, a women came up to her, smiled and handed her a piece of card and a blue crayon. “You did want one, right?”
The little shark slowly nodded up and down, unsure what to say but took the card. Her eyes shimmering a little. "You're most welcome." The girl bowed her head at her and then turned away from the confused shark.
As the girl vanished back into the tent, Levi moved forward once again. But paused on the very outskirts of the tent, not sure what to do. Her tail wagging from side to side as she leaned forward. So focused on the activity inside the tent, she failed to notice that anyone had approached her until they spoke. Unable to stop herself, Levi jumped from shock, dropping the card she had been clutching.
"A!!"
“Uh, y-yus,” she muttered, her head tilting to one side. As she came face to face with two girls. One was a very beautiful girl with long red hair and the second, equally beautiful with bright orange hair like flames.
“A! Me iz a shaaaark! Iz a Levi,” she said, quickly returning to her usual vigor and excitement. “Uh, I iz a here to, uh, see what this iz?” In her entire time in this world, albeit short, Levi had never seen anything like this festival. A gathering of all humans having fun and eating the delicious smelling foods from the stalls. From what she had seen, most humans appeared to have very rigid schedules as they travelled monotonously from place to place. Sometimes in the weird box things with their engines and sometimes by walking. Sometimes in fancy suits and sometimes not. Often with children at their side.
“Levi isn’t sure what this all is…”
