Rock the Night (Open)

Guy was puzzled at Hiroshi’s rebuttal stating that he’s had a boring life which was true, but he had friends to make it better, although he never felt close to anyone. But this was his chance to create bond a bond stronger than friendship. With that last thought Guy began to perk up. “Right.” Guy said aloud taking what Hiroshi said as challenging him to have an adventure with dodomon.

Leroy sounded uncharacteristically smart, something he came to expect from Hiroshi, as he explained the growth of a digimon. “Interesting. I wander what form you’ll take, dodomon.” Guy said squeezing Dodomon. “Stop holding so tight… I will bite you.” Dodomon strained to say. “And we won’t know until I do.” Dodomon said back to being serious again after Guy loosened his grip.

Dodomon paid close attention to Hiroshi explaining their appearance as the digimon wanted to know but Guy stood there in a daze trying to figure out what he was saying. “Your mixed breeds like me.” Guy said in wonderment.

Guy laughed with Leroy after he explained his dating life. “I don’t doubt that. But, uh, you should change back we don’t want to get caught.” Guy said putting dodomon back into his backpack. “Do you guys have phones; I’d like to keep in touch with you if that’s okay.” Guy asked while waiting for them to change.

“Yeah, see I’m at fresh stage and my name is Dodomon and when I digivolve the next stage my name will be something else.” Dodomon further explained.

“So, their names are like their species of that stage. We should give you a name like Leroy and Hiroshi so I know which one is you in a crowd of your species.” Guy said clutching the baby digimon.

“That makes sense given there are a lot of my species in the digital world.” Dodomon said while being tucked in Guy’s bag.

“I guess you’re the anomaly. But you know us half breeds must stick together. I’m half African and being at an all-Japanese grade school I was bullied but my friends always came to my rescue and now I’ve met you two makes me feel like we’re friends already.” Guy said before stating that the twins should act activate their holosuits.

After the twins donned their disguises and receiving their numbers Guy went on to say, “We should hangout sometime and maybe you can teach us how to digivolve.” Guy checked his watch. “We need to get back before Haruki and Ren start to worry. But I need to go home and get this little guy settled.” Guy put his hand on his face and stroked his imaginary beard.

Guy absorbed everything Hiroshi had to say about names and when Leroy asked if he had any naming idea Guy could only say, “Maybe a few but I need to sort through them before giving him one.” Guy locked his fingers behind his head. He couldn’t help feeling some comradery between the three through what Leroy and Hiroshi said about them being bullied. “Us three together will take down the wicked and give power to the weak. What do ya say?” Guy said with quite a bit of zeal in his voice.

Guy felt excited to hear that digimon will gain more power as they digivolved. “So, the higher in stages you get you gain superpowers. Ah man I’m so jealous! But I’m not worried, Dodomon and I are going to dominate bullies.” Guy seemed restless when speaking but soon calmed down by them realizing they had been gone from the rest of the group for too long.

As the group walked down the path Guy couldn’t help but think that his life would change from tonight’s events. Rather it was for good, that was still up in the air. Dodomon had eaten his fill of snacks and had passed out in the backpack. He was exhausted from his day in the human world. “I have a new dream, ya know… I want to explore the culture and mysteries of the Digital World. I am an archeologist after all.” Guy said looking up at the stars.

“We can combine our brainpower and come up with something. And yeah, he’s part of the team I misspoke. He could definitely help us if he wants.” Guy said, bringing his attention to the brothers as they spoke about elevating the team to a higher level. “If you’re in, I’m in too. So, how do we get to your world?” Guy said smiling matching Leroy’s energy.

Leroy went on to explain the superpowers digimon get when the digivolve fascinated Guy to no end, but he had nothing to add to his point. “That’s so cool. Makes me wish the best for dodomon.” Guy said letting Leroy know he didn’t know how far the rabbit hole go. But when Hiroshi explained it, it clicked their power can be literally anything. “So a ninja with elemental power is totally in the cards. This is so awesome having a digimon brother.” Guy said heavily animated by the excitement.

“Oh of course, I’m on track to becoming one at my college. But if a higher calling says take your only shot to explore a new world, then I’m taking it, ya know.” Guy said informing Hiroshi that he’s in a rock and a hard place with this choice.

“There you guys are. Did something happen?” Haruki shouted but fell short of the music. Guy finally making to Haruki and Ren asked what he said. Haruki repeated himself then asked for the drinks. Guy went into his bag and searched around the sleeping dodomon, careful so they wouldn’t see him. After handing them the drinks, Haruki asked for his card back which Guy obliged. Guy had gotten them snacks too but dodomon ate them all so Guy didn’t say anything.

Guy laughed at Hiroshi’s teasing of his brother but was soon back to life when he realized how he trained dodomon would result to how many weaknesses he had. That was a big realization for him. So, he promised to only imprint the best qualities of himself on to dodomon. He didn’t want him to turn out a bully.

“Oh that’s cool. We were just worried about you that’s all.” Haruki said with Ren holding up his drink in cheers.

Guy snapped back to and was in the middle of the concert looking grim. He quickly changed this by moving his body to the rhythm of the noise but he couldn’t help but think about dodomon in his bag so he moved fluidly to not wake his bother up. Guy wanted to go back to the topic of how they and dodomon got to the human world. “We have a summer break coming, right? I’m want to go to the digital World with you two as my guides.” Guy spoke softly to be masked by the music knowing Hiroshi might be able to hear him.

Guy was glad to see his laughter wasn’t looked at as ill intent. The brothers were too close to get to them, but he was a newcomer, but he felt closer than that and wanted to be included in the twins shenanigans. And it looked as though the brothers didn’t mind him enjoying their company.

“Their lucky to have you… Leroy, was it? You look like you can handle anything.” Haruki laughed. He had asked the twins to guide him in the next world, which sounds more spiritual than it is. Guy caught Hiroshi’s gesture of understanding which relaxed Guy. Now, the only thing to do is wait for summer.

It was well into the night when the lead singer announced their last song. The crowd’s thunderous yells echoed throughout the park. Haruki and Ren were lost in the groove of the music. Guy had made his way to the back of the crowd to make sure no one bumped into his bag while dancing. While he stood back there, he pondered if he should just leave but he hated to leave without saying his farewells to his old and new friends. They may worry but the twins will know why. With a heavy heart he departed.
