A change of pace was important from time to time.
Which would explain why the normally northern-living partners were currently spending their time as far as possible from the lands of winter. That and the potential for business.
"How the hell do you think you can pull a con when we've barely been back here a few days?"
The PetitMamon perched on the teenage boy's shoulder was none too quiet about her concerns at the moment. Kaori had claimed to be here on "business", but knowing him it was anything but routine. Her words bit at him, but they also held a dark curiosity as to the details of the plan she was no doubt willing to play along with.
"That's why I said I'll be looking right now. And I'm not trying to pull a con, believe it or not. There's some amazing stuff I can work with in the Digital World in a mostly legal sense." the boy answered, his Rookie visible only in peripheral vision as he continued forward through the marketplace.
"Mostly legal, he says."
"You said you wanted me to be more honest with you, didn't you?"
"Tch."
Had he won that exchange? He certainly liked to think so, but one could never be certain with the PetitMamon.
Anyhow, his eye was currently out for something that would be seen as unusual and yet not alien if resold in the Human World. For now it appeared this part of the market was focused on food. There were certainly some unusual fish, but perhaps too unusual to resell. Plus how the hell would he resell fish? He was more of an electronics guy.
So he needed to find where the electronics were...

"The Crest of Courage, huh? What's so special about that thing, anyway?" Kevin said, walking into the city, Mekmon perched on his shoulder.
"Legend tells of legendary heroes that led the crests in the past.It holds the DNA of Digimon like MetalGreymon, WarGreymon, and a ton others. Or at least, that's what I heard from PawnChessmon in Terminus Mall."
"Mekmon, how many times how I told you to stop wandering off when I go to the food court."
"Hey, you were the one who said you'd be back in a couple minutes. You were gone for half an hour."
"Well I'm sorry that I was thirsty, and then had to go to the bathroom!"
"Who takes that long in the bathroom?"
In the middle of their fighting, Kevin walked into another person, causing them both to tumble over and fall. This was the second time today. He rubbed his head, which now had a bump on it where he hit the ground.
"Hey, I-I'm sorry."

Eh?
It seemed Kaori had been paying too much attention to the items he was hoping to find, and not enough to foot traffic. And god knows Zee made a terrible lookout.
Thus the tamer found himself knocked to the ground suddenly. Not by an attack, but just from another person bumping into him. On the plus side, the potentially angry other person chose instead to apologize. Kaori was all for allowing the stranger to take the blame.
Zee had, unsurprisingly, gently floated off her tamer's shoulders a split second before the collision. She chose to hover over the fallen humans with a satisfied smile. This other human also appeared to be a teenage male. There was also a small mechanical Digimon that she didn't recognize. Probably a Fresh or In-Training?
Ah, so these were newbies to the Digital World, eh? Looks like Kaori would find himself some "business".
"Don't worry about it." the tamer responded, pushing himself first into a seated position and then onto his feet. He looked over his "opponent" and paused for a moment, his mind working on something. Once back in reality, he stretched out his arm towards the other boy. "Need a hand? I'm Kaori, by the way."

"Thank you. My name's Kev by the way. Kevin Edgerock. And this here's, my partner Mekmon, he's still in his in-training state, cause we haven't gotten to rookie yet. It shouldn't be too hard."
Mekmon made a sceptical looking face at Kev.
"That's what you said when we hopped on the train to terminus."
"You were the one that started pressing buttons, which almost ran over Takara."
Mekmon mumbled off. Blowing steam as he huffed around the ground around his tamer. It was gonna take work to get Mekmon to rookie. It was time Kev started realizing that. Kevin put his hand behind his head to scratch the spot he had bumped. He remembered what Mekmon had brought up either.
"Hey um, would you by any chance know about something called the Crest of Courage? Me and Mekmon are kinda looking around for it."

The other boy spilled his whole story quite quickly. He was a new tamer named Kevin, and his partner was an In-Training that went by Merkmon. And IT was the highest level he could go.
Had Kaori been a crueler individual, this would the the point where he ordered Zee to ransack the stranger. Well, maybe not in public...but regardless, that was a hypothetical of a version of Kaori that didn't exist.
Hm? Crest of Courage? The hell was that?
"Oh, those crests that help with Digivolution?" Zee interrupted, stressing the last word while looking at her tamer. Looks like she figured out that he was unaware. That wasn't a surprise; she hadn't heard much about crests since her previous life far before Kaori met her.
But the Crest of Courage? Wasn't that specifically one from a legend or something? Crap did Kaori know-
"Oh yeah? I actually came to this town in search of some Crests myself. I've got a source if you're interested." Kaori explained.
Well crap. Looks like Kaori had just promised something that may not even exist. Not exactly the best focus of a con...but maybe they could string the new kid along just enough.
Either way, it appeared he had found his "business prospect".
