"I cannot believe you are going through with this." The voice belonged to Kuro, a back Digimon looking like a ferret which was hidden away in Kai's bag. Fortunately, the hustle and bustle of the Scramble Crossing drowned out her voice from reaching anyone but him. He wasn't entirely clear on the consequences of normal people seeing Digimon, but by all accounts, it wasn't good for the careless tamer whose partners had been seen.
For context on Kuro's statement, Shiro had announced a desire to return to the Digital World. Now, Kuro was not as big a fan as Shiro was of excursions outside of the human world. For one thing, she and her brother were... A lot weaker, than many other Digimon. Especially Digimon that were hunting for weaker Digimon. They'd run into at least one Digimon like that, and though they'd survived, it seemed to have put her off from travelling there.
Her brother Shiro, on the other hand, well, he could care less. He loved the Digital World! Especially the idea of fighting bad Digimon, and proving his strength! Everyone he met seemed to write him off as weak, and he wanted to prove otherwise. Because of this rashness, Kai usually didn't go along with Shiro's demands. Shiro may overestimate himself, but in the end, he was a Rookie level Digimon, and was not able to beat a champion level by himself, regardless of his claims.
"I know you don't like it, Kuro, but we're going to the Digital World and that's it." Or at least, he would be, once he got to Shibuya Station where the Trailmon Terminal was located. He wasn't sure why he was so drawn to the Digital World. He certainly hadn't decided to agree with Shiro to go just to make him stop asking. As dangerous as it was, the place fascinated him. He had so many questions about how Digimon worked, and he wasn't going to answer them by sitting around in the human world.

"Yea yea I know, It was somewhere around here... well I dunno what do you want me to do about it? I don't have lazer X-ray vision or whatever... wait that sounds cool can we work on that?
I know I know sorry I'll focus on finding the thing whatever", the Chibigrowlon grumbled, looking around the streets of the crossing, to the well trained eye he wouldn't appear disguised at all, just wearing his hooded cloak and walking around amongst the mostly taller people, sniffing the air occasionally and turning to look around.
To the untrained eye however he just sorta wouldn't be there. Like a firehydrant or a crack in the sidewalk, he was nothing special, just something for the mind to gloss over.
There had been some reports of a digimon being spotted around here by an off duty agent.. "Off duty my digital ass, lazy is more like it.", he grumbled, finally catching a familiar artificial scent.
His glance darted to the side seeing a normal enough boy with his bag walking along, though the scent was unmistakable... unless the kid had a whole workstation desktop setup in his backpack hooked up to the internet that is... though that was very unlikely.
He would dash forward around the crowd a bit as the boy was getting toward the edge of the crossing. "Hey you there! Kid!", he shouted, pointing his clawed finger forth, getting a few odd glances around from the crowd but the disturbance wasn't enough to pierce the nature of his cloak, so they'd just gloss over him and continue on with their business, as if a car had honked or a child shouted for it's parent. None of their concern.
However, the digidestined wouldn't find the sight so easily brushed off, able to see clearly the digimon pointing at him from under the hood. Though come to think of it maybe that menacing shout wasn't the best choice of words.

Kai turned around. Surely that voice couldn't be calling him out? But that finger was pointed directly at him, and he was pretty sure that it wasn't meant for someone behind him. But what did this person want with him? And what was with that cloak? His curiosity didn't last long, as he noticed that there was something... Off, about its hand. This was no child. Looking back up, he saw under its hood.
What was a Digimon doing in the middle of the Scramble Crossing? Did it have a tamer? Was its tamer nearby? Why was it calling him out? Had it noticed Kuro and Shiro resting in his bag? Should he run? No, he doubted he could outrun it, even if he tried. He turned to face it. "What?"

He blinked a bit... the kid didn't run. Huh... well crap, he kinda was hoping he'd run. The issue was they were in the middle of a busy crossing and he couldn't apprehend this suspect with all these people around. Something like that may attract enough attention to break though his cloak's filter.
"I uh.. hey!", he shouted with a growl stepping forward, grumbling to himself about this guy being difficult by not being difficult. As he approached it almost looked as if he was going to walk passed the human and be on his way but instead a claw would grab out at the humans hand and try to tug him along, "Don't make a scene and I won't have to hurt you", he huffed trying to drag the human along toward a less crowded street. Where he was headed looked more like an alleyway in fact, a rarely traveled path between two of the crossings taller buildings. He was small but if the human was indeed grabbed he'd feel the ultimate level strength tugging him back toward the more secluded destination. All the more reason to just do as he was told.

Kai wasn't sure what was going on. He knew that he didn't like it. What was a Digimon doing approaching him in the middle of such a busy place? And what did it want with him? Was it like Boogiemon, looking to take his partners' data? But then, why was it taking such cares to hide itself beneath a hood? For that matter, why was he the only one who noticed it? He didn't have nearly enough time to answer all these questions.
Whatever it was, it grabbed him and started dragging him off, with a threat. He could see Kuro and Shiro moving in his bag, about to attack the Digimon holding him. He looked straight at them, and shook his head. Shiro didn't seem like he was going to back down, but his sister held him back. Good. They were in enough trouble without Shiro starting a fight in the middle of the street. Besides, Kai wasn't sure they'd win. Their track record against other Digimon wasn't exactly the best.
He let himself be dragged away from the crossing. Not that he had much choice. The Digimon had a firm grip on his arm, and even if Kai broke that grip... Well, he'd already decided that running probably wouldn't work. Once they had rounded the corner and were away from the public view, he hissed "What exactly do you want from me?"

He wpuld swing the human in front of him as he entered the alleyway, letting his arm go. "You know what this is, I'm with D.A.T.S!", he shouted, some smoke puffing from his nostrils. His feet shuffling in place, a bit annoyed with this kid obviously playing dumb.
"You are harboring a criminal digimon of Champion level spotted earlier in this area. I can smell digimon on you and you were pretty atp at noticing me, You're a digidestined... now where is it?!", He growled, hand on one of the handles of the two blades at his side, prepared for any funny business. He looked pretty impatient as well, and whatever this short tempered small fry had in store it probably wasn't too pleasant.
He sniffed again, sniffling a bit this time. His eyridges twitched, though at that distance it would be hard to see. Was it a break in his angry demeanor? What exactly was going on here?

Dats? What was that? Nothing this Digimon was saying made sense. Criminal Digimon? Champion level? Kuro and Shiro were only Champion level, so it couldn't mean them. And what did he mean, criminal? And what was that Dats thing he mentioned? Why did they think it was him? The questions turned over an over in his head, and he froze. He simply didn't have enough information to know how to, or whether he should, respond.
Shiro had heard enough. He leapt out of Kai's bag, and stood between his partner and their aggressor. "Leave Kai alone! Or I'll make you leave him alone! The white Digimon bared his teeth and raised his hackles, in a manner consistent with the cat he appeared to be. In a uncharacteristic show of aggression, Kuro also slunk out of her bag, snarling, "I do not know who you are, or what you want, but leave our partner alone.

"Oh? You're acting dumb huh?", he rolled his eyes sniffling again, nose seeming a bit stuffed, the smells around him, sort of , mixing. What was going on? He smelled digimon, and this guy, and a champion level, and the scent from the report, some kind of, dinosaur? Was that himself? And.. a wall.. What the hell was wrong with his nose? "Wh. what the", he blinked, stance slackening a bit as the two small digimon leaped forth, claw slipping away from his sword's hilt.
"But I smelled... I.. I'm not.. I mean... um", he began a bit babbley, loosing his intimidating demeanor for a moment, replaced with a more baffled one as he sniffed again, the smell of a stuffy nose unmistakable in the long snort. His lack of grump didn't last long though as he cleared his throat and stood back up tall as he could again, growling "Well you may not be the perps but you stil have two unregistered digimon, and you're going to have to come with me and sign so-"
That was all he got to say. Now normally stopping mid sentience like that would be odd, but given the circumstance there was something else a bit more important to worry about. Namely, the giant digimon fist that just broke though the wall to the left of the chibigrowlmon, taking him completely by surprised and slamming him hard right in the face, sending him flying with a confused pained growl-roar-yelp. He crashed into the other wall and cracked it, some debris falling on him as the rest of the beast that punched him began to emerge from the wall, a Greymon of sorts it seemed, its growling face giving it a more feral wild appearance as it looked from the groaning motionless ultimate that was just holding them up, over to the human and his two digimon!
Well this took a turn for the worst.

Kai had no clue what this Digimon was talking about. First that Dats thing, whatever that was, then he'd called Kai a 'Digidestined,' and now he was claiming to have -smelled- how strong Kai's Digimon were? Them being Rookie level actually seemed to surprise him! Just what was going on!? And what did he mean, 'unregistered' Digimon? Unregistered with who? Dats? He didn't even know who Dats was!
Kai's confusion was cut short. Was that a Digimon arm stuck through the wall!? Whatever it was, it had completely caught the 'Dats' Digimon off guard. Criminal Digimon, so it was. Apparently the Digimon's nose hadn't lied. It struck Kai that, having been cornered by the creature from 'Dats,'he didn't have anywhere to go if the Digimon attacked him. This day had quickly gone from bad to worse.
So tiny compared to the monster that burst through the wall, Shiro showed no fear towards it. "Hey! Don't butt into other people's fights! He was mine! Little Blast!" A ball of white energy flew from the white Digimon's mouth towards the intruder. Well, if the large Digimon hadn't been looking for a fight, it sure was now! But despite that, the blast seemed to do very little.
Kai gulped. This was not good. This was very not good. This was a champion level foe. He didn't know how strong the 'Dats' Digimon was, but he also wasn't sure he could count on it for help. He took a step back, as did Kuro, while Shiro stood his ground. Kai couldn't say he liked his odds of getting out of this in one piece...

The Greymon roared looking to the small digimon and it's human, huffing smoke as it stepped forward, the huge beast shaking the ground under him a bit, Kai feeling it easily being so close. This definitely wasn't good, The digimon that had been chasing this guy down was now out cold and all he had was a rookie to fight with.
It took another step closer, almost over the small catlike digimon now, it seemed like it was already over, trapped and cornered in an alleyway before he ever got to go on his true adventure... but then...
"HYAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!", a shout from above. A figure descended above, probably leaping from a building, leg out in a downwards kick. Time almost seemed to slow for a moment as he descended, leg above the champion digimon as he connected right at the base of it's neck, right where the head plate stopped.
The beast roared and whoever it was jumped away, putting extra preassure on the spot he kicked, backflipping off the monster's neck and landing in a crouch, one arm still up as he quickly looked up. The digimon stood between Kai and whatever it was that just sent the greymon stumbling and roaring, tiny arms trying to reach the back of it's neck before it stepped to the side a bit and turned to face the new aggressor.
This new stance gave Kai a better look at the new arrival just as he went to stand from his landing... but wait.. no way. Standing there in a single sunbeam reflected off one of the building's windows was... a human? "Come on! I'm gunna need some help here, aim for his weak spots!", he shouted quickly as the greymon roared at the man.
Who the hell was this guy?!

Just when all hope seemed lost, a figure dropped from overhead! A human? Had a human just dropped however many stories to land on this monster's back!? Incredible! This was one of those people, so naturally gifted that it felt nearly impossible to reach the level of. Actually, was it even humanly possible to reach that level? He didn't think so, but the figure sure was human!
Kai was still stuck in the alley, with the monster between him and freedom. At least it was distracted by the BIG D**N HERO that just dropped on it. Shiro didn't like that, not one bit. With a cry of "Don't you ignore me! LITTLE HEADBUTT!" completely ignoring the newcomer as he leapt towards the dinosaur's exposed backside. It wasn't very effective. The monster probably didn't even notice him.
"Weakspots? What weakspots!?" Kai called back to the man. He wasn't a fighter! When he looked at Greymon's back, all he saw were scales! Was one of those scales weaker than the rest, or something? What, did it have one unarmored patch in its armpit? What was he looking for!? He didn't even know what he was fighting, other than it being a Digimon of Champion level!
Kuro knew she had to join the fight. With one Digimon taken down already, and their only other support a human, it would be up to her and Shiro to protect Kai. Even if they were up against a foe twenty times their size, or more. "Little Blast!" She called, aiming towards the spot on the back of the creature's neck where the man had landed. That may have gotten it's attention! But he wasn't sure if that was a good thing...

The beast roared loudly, ground shaking as it ignored the first attack from the small creature, the headbut just sending him bouncing back off his thickly scaled tail. The monster didn't even look back, still focusing on the human that had just left his neck aching, the man standing ready to fight in what looked like some kind of uniform.
The Dragon roared and went forward to bite at him, exposing the back of his neck Kuro leaped forward. Josh dodged with a perfect roll backwards, landing on three limbs looking up quickly as the little blast would his the dino right in the sore spot. It roared out, turning it's head back to look at the twins and their human, growling but leaving it'self exposed. Josh took off from his crouched stance, speeding forward to punch the huge creature right in the gut, catching it by surprise. It stumbled back a bit, tail swaying at the others as the human would jump back, it was amazing, the force he hit it at would break an arm wouldn't it.. though... if they were paying attention they'd see some sparks coming from the newcomer's arm.
The dragon roared in pain, stumbling about. "ALRIGHT! You guys got this! Together! Finish him! He held out a thumbs up to them, still standing in that sunbeam as the light gleamed off his grin.

Yup, it felt Kuro's attack. Yup, it wasn't happy about it. The momentary distraction did give their mystery savior a chance to dash in, punching the monster. Who the hell was this guy!? Normal humans didn't punch Digimon! And when they did, it sure wasn't this powerful! Could he actually be a humanoid Digimon? He'd met ones like that, like Lucemon... But at least Lucemon had had wings. This guy was just a normal human... Wasn't he?
He really didn't have the time to think about it! While he was trying to figure out how this human did what he did, the monster was starting to recover! How was he supposed to finish this, Kuro's Little Blast needed to recharge! Why did his Digimon always shout out their attack names anyways, it was a bit weird. Anyways, Shiro wasn't worried about that! "Leave it to me! Charging Headbutt! The little Digimon leapt straight into the creature, where the mark left by the strange man's punch was still visible. The creature roared in pain, spittle flying all over the alley.
Kai wiped the disgusting mess off his face, just in time to see Shiro bounce off the creature, high into the sky. "Not done yet! Little Blast!" The white ball of energy formed in front of the white Digimon's mouth... And flew straight into their attackers gaping maw. Ooh, ouch, that'll hurt. Maybe Shiro's bluster wasn't all bluster, certainly Kai would never have come up with a move like that. Perhaps the Digimon had some level of battle sense?
Speaking of Shiro, Kai found something odd. The Digimon had been angry at the giant dinosaur thing for taking down his target... But he was perfectly fine with this strange human and Kuro fighting with him. Or with the numerous other people who had fought with him. It seemed like the Digimon just didn't like it when things it decided were his foe ignored him, or were taken down by someone that wasn't him. Well, there still might be a chance for that. Shiro may have landed a painful blow, but Kai didn't know if a Rookie level attack was enough to take it down. Shiro may yet be disappointed.

It was taking damage from all angles now, confused and angry it tried over and over to locate the newest source of pain. At first it was just this fleshy man but now these small things were pecking away at it. Which should he focus on... the man was bigger but -GGGGRAAAWAWWRRRR
The roar echoed as the back of it's neck was struck again. The near mindless beast had been looking to the human, just trying to take care of the biggest threat at the time. Moving targets, moving targets that caused pain. There was some kind of priority here right?
Both of the attacks hit their mark, the greymon growled and looking back, stumbling a bit from another hit to that weak point of it's neck, roaring splattering drool just as expected when the little blast shot strait into it's open maw. It stumbled swinging it's head back and forth, coughing out smoke before falling forward. The human before them stepped back a bit to let it fall before him, one of his arms now hidden by his D.A.T.S jacket. Wasn't that the same arm he'd punched it with?
"WOOO! Way to go guys! See told ya you could! You know, you don't need to be stronger than your opponent to win", he held up his other arm, giving a thumbs up to them. Though, his inspiring stance and heartwarming grin would seem to be interrupted by the greymon stirring. It huffed and began to push itself up.
There was a breeze, which was odd for a small alleyway... wait, what was this? The digimon that had been knocked out earlier, the chibiguilmon was up, holding his sword out to his side, almost mirroring that famous pose from many an anime and terrible kung fu movie. He was standing on the opposite side of the greymon and alleyway he'd been on before... how did he move so fast, how did he get there? Why did the greymon stop moving? That question would be answered as their foe suddenly erupted into data, bursting before them.
Was it possible? Had the ultimate level smitten the foe so fast and effortlessly? Slicing it down within the blink of an eye. "Ah great job Guilix! Glad to see you woke up in time", he chukled, the ultimate just huffing and sheathing his blade.
What were these people!?

Shiro whirled around to face Kai. "Didya see that, Kai! I told you I'm the strongest, didn't I?" After all, he had just taken down a Champion! Sure, he'd had -some- help, but it was Kuro and a human! Clearly it was Shiro doing all the work. It was fortunate for the white Digimon's pride, that he was still facing away when the Greymon started to stand up. Kuro hissed in alarm Idiot! Don't look away until you're sure it's down!"
By the time Shiro had finished turning to look at it, the Digimon was already dust on the wind. "Geez, sis, don't scare me like that!" Clearly she had just been teasing him, after all. vHe was the victor! How wonderful. It felt good to win. Meanwhile Kai stood, awestruck by the man who had saved them. Who the hell was this guy? Well at least, that was his first reaction. His inability to find his voice gave him the time to rephrase it a little bit more politely.
"Thank you for saving me! But... Who are you?" This guy knew the Digimon that had cornered them there? And his jacket... It had D.A.T.S. on it. Hadn't the Digimon said it was with a group called something like that? They were working together? The Digimon... The human called it Guilix, had demanded that they come with him to... Register? But then the human had saved their lives? What did registering entail? "Sorry, sorry. Before asking someone's name, give your own first. I'm Kai Haimura, and these two are Kuro and Shiro."
Shiro, more than a little slow, finally took the time to say something to the man. "Ha! For that to be true, he'd have to be stronger than me!" Which of course, was impossible. No one was stronger than Shiro!
