Taking some unintentional advice from her neighbor about the park being a decent place to exercise a Digimon, Maia found herself wandering the area. Sure enough, though, it didn't really seem busy in some of the parts of the park. Actually, most of it seemed fairly calm, regardless. This worked out perfectly for the tamer, who was having an awfully hard time finding places for Kyaromon to play. She had already tried the forest, but then the problem had risen that she couldn't see too far out to tell when someone was approaching. And, Kyaromon proved to be particularly obnoxious when she could not get him off of tree branches to go home at a decent hour.
Finding a place to sit, someplace Maia thought would be out of the way, Kyaromon forced his way out of the top of her bag. "I can come out now?" he mumured, ears twitching. Without even giving his tamer a chance to respond, he crawled out of the bag and onto her lap, "too late! It happened," he announced, gleefully. There was a big sigh from Maia, but the fluffball kept talking, "what do you want to do, Maia? Are we going to play? I saw you packed more cookies, do I get them?" Still, the tiny Digi kept asking questions, but the girl was busy trying to shuffle through her bag to make sure nothing had gotten broken. Luckily, Kyaromon was essentially rubber, and very easily squished and stretched around the other contents.
"You still have to be somewhat quiet," Maia huffed, pulling out a pencil and her small sketchbook. "And the cookies are to be eaten in moderation," she emphasized, throwing a glare to the blank-faced alien. Over the past couple days, he had scarfed almost an entire batch of cookies on his own. Maia ended up making more just so that her parents wouldn't question how she had eaten all of them by herself! Of course, she also had to make sure they didn't notice all the ingredients she had used up trying to replace everything that her Digimon would eat the second she turned her back on him. It was such a hassle!
Kyaromon agreed to it being a hassle, but in a different way! "Well, 'moderation' sounds like a lame word!" he pointed out, defensively, before sticking his head into her bag and pulling out the container of fresh cookies. "Plus, you needed to make fresh ones! You were supposed to give the last ones away!" Maia went to open her mouth to explain that this logic was flawed, but instead she ended up just grabbing the container from Kyaro's mouth, and setting it beside her. Taking the momentary silence from her partner as a sign that it was alright for her to begin drawing, she flipped to a page that already had sketches on it, and began to adjust them. There was no point in starting a new drawing, since she knew that Kyaromon wasn't going to let her focus enough for that. And, she was right, because moments later, the little monster was on top of her head, trying to cover her eyes with his nubby feet.
"You're not very helpful, I hope you know."

Ah! The fresh air felt good! How long had it been since he had felt it? Since he had been allowed outside? It must have been weeks! He knew, that to recover properly from the surgery, he needed to rest... But it was still painful to not be able to go out! Ohhhh, he was so far behind on his studying, now! But that would have to wait. He hadn't been out in weeks... But neither had Kuro or Shiro. Shiro, at the very least, was desperate to stretch his legs!
So, on this grand day of finally being released, Kai was taking a casual stroll in the park. His broken arm secured in a cast, and his school bag (Containing two Digimon) in his other arm. Shiro rustled around in the bag... But people were around, so he wasn't about to be let out. Fortunately, anyone who noticed him seemed to pay far more attention to his arm than to his bag. That was fortunate.
Deeper in the park... Kai came across a familiar face. One he had not expected to see so soon. His neighbor, Maia Quinn... A fellow Tamer. She had, apparently, had the same idea as he had. She had visited him in the hospital... But it had been really crowded, so he hadn't really had a chance to talk. "Hey Maia!" He called, as loudly as his injured body would let him. He would have waved, had he a free hand.

Kyaromon made his way off of the tamer's head, long enough for the girl to fix some of the lines in her sketch that were likely messy because of the Digimon being in the way. But, just as she felt like she was about to make some progress on the work, Kyaromon began this alarming 'squee'-ing sound, hearing someone address his tamer. "It's Kai!" he shouted, making his tamer panic and try to squish him a little with her sketchbook.
"Give me a heart attack, why don't you?" Maia huffed to the little monster, who was still busy babbling about Kai, and ignoring that the girl had been trying to sort-of crush him during all of it. But, looking up, she couldn't really say that the puffball was lying. Fingers wrapped tightly around the edges of her sketchbook, taking in the sight of Kai with all of his injuries. Sure, she'd seen him at the hospital, but it just didn't feel the same. They'd been in a room full of people, and distractions were bound to be there from it. Plus, she had really worked herself up to go visit him there. It wasn't the same when she hadn't already had that as a focus.
Standing up, she set all of her stuff together where she had been, before moving toward her neighbor. "Do you need help with your bag?" she offered, somewhat quietly. After all, it wasn't like he had the arms to be doing anything with it anyway, and if her original meeting with him said anything, at least one Digimon was inside of it. "Oh! Uh, I guess saying 'hi' is appropriate, too," she added, with a glance to the side. She had been so concerned about the injured teen that she focused more on trying to help him. He probably didn't need that, anyway, considering everyone was probably going to baby him for the injuries. "When did you get out of the hospital?"
To this, Kyaromon needed to add in, "Kai! Did you fight bad guys? Did you beat him up?" as he managed to scurry up Maia's clothing so that he could perch on her shoulder. His tamer threw him a crazy look, finding it incredibly inappropriate to ask, but it didn't deter the little puff. "Did you learn how to digivolve? I did! Do you like my fur?" Oh, so that was his game. Of course, it was still the in-training's way of trying to display some sort of care toward one of the first people he met after arriving in this world.

"Heh," Kai chuckled at the sight of the girl and her Digimon. It was larger than the last time he saw it! Ooh, but laughing was a bad idea. His broken ribs ached every time he did so. He winced at the pain, a very sudden and dramatic change from the smile and chuckle he had just given. He had to be more careful! Hearing the talking, Shiro poked his head out of the bag. "Hey maia! Who are you?" The Digimon said, not recognizing Maia's partner in his new form. Anyone familiar with him, though... Would detect some wistfulness in his voice, not nearly as full of energy as the Digimon usually was.
Who could blame him? For three weeks, he'd been moping about how, when his Tamer was endangered, he had done nothing to help. Before that... He had been offered absolute power, and rejected offhand. Now... It wasn't nearly as easy for him to say with confidence, that he was the absolute strongest among Digimon. After all, for the strongest, killing a measly BlackGarurumon and saving a weak human should be child's play! But... He hadn't. He had been too slow, and Kai had paid for it.
Kuro, too, felt that she had failed Kai. That she had been too weak. She had fallen to a single blow from their foe, after all, leaving the humans wide open. If only she'd been stronger... It was the second time her weakness had let Kai get hurt. How could she and Shiro remain as Kai's partners... If he couldn't trust them to protect him?
Kai was... Only partially aware of how his Digimon felt. He knew they were disappointed that he was injured... But he was far too concerned about whether he was fit to be their tamer, to consider that they might not feel fit to be tamed by him. After all, he was the unqualified one, not them! If he was a better Tamer... Well, a lot of things would be different, he was sure.
Oh, right, his bag. "Err... Yes, please. Let Shiro out, at least. As to your question- Just today. Err, do you mind if I sit down?" He aksed to be polite, but frankly, he needed to take a seat. Bed rest for so long had really taken a lot out of him. He carefully sat down on the grass... Ooh, how even the smallest movements hurt.
"Do I look like I won?" Kai groaned. It wasn't exactly true that he'd lost- By all accounts, both Garurumon had been destroyed around the time he passed out. But... It certainly didn't feel like a win, with his body so battered, bruised, and banged up. "But we can Digivolve... Not really the place to show it, though. And I see you have, you have very pretty fur..." He looked to Maia, lost as to the Digimon's name. He'd ended up leaving before she named it, and having evolved, Pafumon was no longer correct.

"You don't remember me? I was Pafumon!" Kyaromon instantly seemed to deflate, at the fact that Shiro didn't recognize him. After all, the in-training had come to somehow idolize the white Digimon. Maia found the extreme interest a little weird, but she figured that wanting to be like Shiro was not the worst thing that the brown Digimon could hope for, so she wouldn't discourage it. At least he didn't want to try to devour the human race or anything. Though, he seemed to want to look like Shiro, too, and white fur wasn't looking too promising since his recent change in color.
Maia was more concerned about the obvious pain that Kai was in, reaching out to take the bag. She debated, briefly, touching his shoulder in some feeble way to ensure that he wasn't just going to end up dying in front of her, but figured with all of his injuries, that may do more harm than good. Luckily, it was easy enough to open a bag and not spill the Digimon out of it, but Shiro's head poking out made it a little more of a hassle to not accidentally grab his fur when opening it, though she thought she was successful. "Oh, yeah, go ahead," she nodded, to the sitting.
Taking a second, she went to bring her sketchpad, bag, and the container of cookies closer to Kai, before sitting down next to him. "Are you sure you should be out?" she questioned, leaning away from him to give him an almost stern look. Almost. She was more glad to know how he was, than anything, and was pretty positive that there was no way she could make any particularly serious face at him aside from that. She also wanted to make sure they had given him some sort of painkillers, but asking too many questions would surely unnerve him. Again, the teen had to remind herself to stop being so worried. Her neighbor was alive, everything should be fine.
"You might have won!" the brown fluff defended, working his way from one of her shoulders, across her chest, to the other. "I mean, you've heard people be all, 'you should see the other guy,' right? Right? So if you're all beat up like this, he's gotta have exploded!" to that, Kyaro made a "pakoom!" noise, which was his sound effect for exploding. He also seemed to get more excited at the compliment on his fur! He didn't even notice Kai's lack of knowing his name, because the compliment had helped him bounce back from Shiro forgetting him.
Maia noticed it, though, adding a, "he's going by Kyaromon now. If his name keeps changing, I'll have to give him a nickname or something, though," she shrugged, "I'm never going to remember them all." Not that it would be a problem, though. Kyaromon made sure that she remembered who he was all the time. Maybe he was concerned that the blonde would forget his name. Or, more likely, he just wanted to make sure everyone would know his name. Probably something to do with all the shows about heroes that he loved to watch.
Pushing the container of cookies a little closer toward Kai with one hand, the tamer looked around the park, not entirely sure what she should even begin to say to her neighbor. "Do you want some? I made them this morning." That was a good start, she guessed.

"Pafumon!" Shiro exclaimed, surprised. He looked the other Digimon up and down. "You've grown so much! I didn't even recognize you!" As Maia opened the bag, he hopped out and rand around in circles a few times. It felt good to be free! He had been cooped up for so long! Scout's house wasn't quite so bad as Kai's room... But it was nowhere close to being outside! The fresh air! The sun's light! He stretched out casually, and hopped back over to Kai in a rather uncharacteristic manner. It seemed the trauma of Kai's injury was still quite bothersome to the Digimon.
Yeah. Can't let my body atrophy any more." Three weeks of bed rest tended to do that. He needed to get out and moving. Not to mention Shiro, even if the Digimon wasn't as energetic as usual. Needed to stretch his legs for a bit. Just... Hopefully they wouldn't run into trouble. The monsters that had attacked him three weeks ago had been a fluke, right? Normally Digimon that strong didn't end up in the human world, right? He wasn't so sure anymore. Until now, he had defaulted to- If you are weak, stay out of the Digital World without an escort. Now... He wasn't sure even the human world was safe without an escort.
It was true that they'd won... But Shiro didn't go for his usual brag about how easy it had been. And for him, it had been easy! His target had been taken down with barely any resistance! It was the other one that had done so much damage to the three. But Shiro didn't see it that way. He saw it as him being too slow at finishing off the first, and letting the second run free. And he simply couldn't find the ability to forgive himself for that. "Well... They were defeated... Just, we had help." Help named Nakamura Tomomi and Kami.
Yeah. Though at this point, would a nickname stick?" Kai asked, looking at the Digimon. He had nicknamed Kuro and Shiro almost as soon as he had met them. In his defense, they had the same name in their In Training form! He had to tell them apart somehow! But... Doing so had been helpful. Now he didn't have to keep track every time they changed form, though so far, each form had a reasonable naming sense. Whatever decided Digimon names seriously was just as bad as Kai was. He named them Black and White. It named them... Blackmon and Whitemon. Seriously.
"Oh, sure." Kai took a few cookies, and offered one to Shiro and one to Kuro who had not taken her customary position around his neck. Afraid of walking on his injuries, it seemed. Both Digimon chomped in, and he took a bite of his own. "It's good!" he said after swallowing. "So, what have you been up to?"

Kyaromon became clearly more excited when Shiro recognized him, and took the growing as a grand compliment! In fact, he was essentially dancing on Maia's shoulder at this point. After a few seconds, though, he decided to literally roll off of her, and chased the white digimon for his quick run around. Upon Shiro's return to Kai, though, the In Training flung himself onto Mai's lap, flailing his front feet around until the tamer would give him a cookie, too. He didn't seem to be worried about the boy's injuries at this point, or that he had help beating up the bad guys. "So?" he managed, munching loudly on his cookie, "help or not, you won!" That was what really mattered to the rabbit-like Digimon. Winning and not being dead. Surely, his tamer wouldn't disagree with the concept of not being dead being a very important factor. "I wish we could have helped," was an additional thing he added, in an almost disappointed tone. Honestly, Maia felt that way too, even though she wasn't really aware of the situation. But, the fact stood that Kyaromon was too little to do any good.
"I'm pretty sure I could name him Pizza and he'd answer to it," Maia smiled, only to be proven correct as the small Digi's ears perked up, and he stared at her with huge eyes. "I love pizza!" he would shout, before licking at his own face to try to remove cookie crumbs. For this, Maia just made a small motion toward the little alien, as he had proven her point. She really could get away with calling him anything she wanted. But, Pizza wasn't necessarily the kind of name she would go for. "I want to wait until he's at a more consistent form before giving him a consistent name," was her only reasoning. That, and she didn't want to give him some sort of cutesy name only to find out he turned into something utterly terrifying looking.
Hearing that her neighbor liked the cookies, all she could find to respond with was, "thank you." She really wasn't sure what else to say about it, or if she should have even said anything at all. That is, until Kyaromon piped in, "she made them for you, y'know." And, the moment was ruined. "N-no. Not really," she mumbled, pushing the round Digimon over. To this, he giggled, "fine! I ate the ones she actually made for you, like, the day after I hatched! Better?" No. No, that was not better. It was obvious the little alien knew it, too. He was just trying to get a rise out of his tamer at this point. She was onto him. He wasn't as cute and stupid as he seemed.
Shooting a glare to the brown fluffball, she pulled at one of his ears, only to hear Kyaromon begin giggling again. It sure was a good thing that he was essentially hollow and made of rubber. "We've been..." Maia trailed off, releasing the little 'Mon's ear, and letting him run around her in circles. He was thrilled about everything. Maia was here, Kai wasn't dead, and Shiro and Kuro were okay! These were good things to enjoy. "I wanted to hit you." This was obviously going to be news to Kai, and she wouldn't look him in the eye for it. "I know, you're not my babysitter, but couldn't you have at least made sure that I hadn't killed him or something on accident? I've been feeding him mostly cookies since I got him, because that's pretty much all Kyaromon will eat."
Now, the girl had to take a deep breath, because she was starting to stress out. In fact, it was demonstrated, much like in the hospital, where she was now twisting on the ends of a few strands on hair with her fingers. "Not a lot happened. I met a guy. I think he's my friend now." The teen knew this didn't line up well with her 'reasons to hit Kai,' when put into the sentences she chose, but she was trying to keep from opening up too much about it all. "I learned stupid things that I would have preferred had been bundled into my initial panic of being a first-time Digimon owner. You know," the tamer tried to sound nonchalant about it, but got a strong feeling that she was failing, "like Spirit Users. That's a good one to know before meeting one." Kyaromon rolled onto his back, trying to be cute to keep the girl calm, but even once she was petting him, it was obvious that she wasn't coming down from all of this as fast as he'd hope. "I didn't want to hit you hard, I guess," Maia tried to add, in an attempt to clear the air, "but, now I'm afraid to even tap you on the shoulder in case you break." That wasn't how she wanted things. In fact, having wished any ill on the boy made her feel pretty terrible after his hospital trip. It actually made her feel kind of guilty, in a way. She really shouldn't have expected anything from him, and was pretty lucky that he was willing to even tell her what the egg on her doorstep had been. How awful.

Kai listened to the banter between Maia and Kyaromon with a smile. He... Wasn't nearly close enough to his partners to banter like that. Kuro and Shiro did so all the time... But Kai never did so. And in turn, they usually didn't talk back to him. Clearly, it was because Maia was simply more suitable as a tamer than he was. Much closer to her partner than he was to his. It wasn't a good feeling for him... But he was happy that she got along with it so well.
She wanted to hit him? Why- Oh. Right.Had he seriously forgot to bring up feeding!? Not only a failure as a Tamer, but as a teacher too! "Sorry... I can't believe I... Well, you probably figured it out by now, but Digimon eat anything humans will eat. And humans can eat food from the Digital World too, though that probably won't be important for a while." Kyaromon was... Not really strong enough to protect Maia in the Digital World. Human world either, for that matter. He used to feel safe here... But not so much anymore. It was not a good feeling.
Spirits Users, huh? Sorry... I didn't want to overload you with information, at the time. I didn't know you'd be running into one so soon. Besides... Spirit users are really something you need to see to understand." they really were. Still... Maybe he should have, if she was so annoyed to not know. Should he rethink his way of explaining Digimon? Put in more information? Probably.
Kai tried to lighten the mood by cracking a joke. "Please, if I broke that easily, I wouldn't be alive right now!" Okay, so it was a bad joke. In fact, it wasn't even funny. It was, in fact, so serious that Kuro and Shiro looked away in shame. His injuries... Weren't really something to joke about. Oops. Now things were just awkward.

The concept of eating in the Digital World hadn't crossed the tamer's mind yet, but it did bring forth a new question, "what about money there?" That was definitely an important thing to understand. Currency anywhere was pretty different. Heck, sometimes she still had moments of forgetting the difference in prices between America and here! On top of that, obtaining a new form of money would probably be a hassle too. Were there places for her to go to exchange currencies? Probably not, but all of these questions about it needed to be answered at some point!
"Maia drew a picture of him as a Digimon! It's cool," Kyaromon added, in regards to the Spirit User. "He could fly. I wish I could fly," to that, the little monster wiggled his ears, attempting to use them as wings, like Feli had. No such luck, of course. Darn. From the tamer's perspective, though, it was great that Kyaro was incapable of reaching the ceiling with that much ease. She'd really never be able to contain him if he could fly!
Sure, Kai was trying to joke, but Maia could see the Digimon grow tense. Even Kyaromon noticed it! "I, uh, thought you were going to die there, for a while," she admitted, pointing a finger toward his face for a moment, before very carefully 'boop'-ing his cheek. "But, you know. You're going to have a hard time at school. You should hear the rumors about you!" This was her way of lightening the conversation. "I had to tell a kid that it wasn't logical that someone rode a bear into your house." Yup. Kids were crazy. She really was trying to keep out of the rumors though. It just happened that people kept insisting to try to bring her into the conversation somehow. Not like they knew that she had even known Kai. Maia wasn't part of clubs. If it was a rule to the school, she'd never been told, nor invited. Though, the girl didn't really want to be part of a club. Now that she had Kyaromon, it was a hassle just to sit in her house! "Oh. When are you going back to school, anyway?"

Ah, right, money. Well, he hadn't figured out how that worked himself. "Well... I don't really get it, but you can pay using your Digivice. And your funds there aren't connected to your funds here, so I find it very convenient for feeding these two." Kai indicated Kuro and Shiro. If he had to feed them using money from his pocket... He had no idea how he could afford it. Thankfully, thanks to the Digital World, he didn't have to. At least, not when he could make a trip to Terminus to feed them.
A flying spirit user? That was interesting. Kind of. Kai was, rather understandably, not in a hurry to deal with anything regarding Digimon, any time soon. But Kyaromon's enthusiasm was infectious, and Kai found himself smiling. "Nyehe! You just gotta try harder! Like me!" Shiro announced proudly. "You cannot fly either, brother," the eternal spoilsport Kuro pointed out. As if that fact wasn't obvious. Though, given the wings on Shiro's champion form... Maybe it was not far fetched that a future form might be able to? It did not matter. He probably would not reach that level for a long while.
"I'm honestly not sure how I'm still alive." Kai admitted. When he had passed out... It was a miracle that he had woken up again. A miracle that nothing vital was injured beyond repair. A miracle that he had not lost so much blood before reaching the hospital. A miracle that the surgery that had been performed had no complications. So many miracles, just to keep him alive. "I shouldn't ever enter the lottery... I'm pretty sure I've used up all my luck for this lifetime."
But seriously, a bear? Where do they get these things! You're right though... What am I going to tell them? I can't exactly go in and say, "I was mauled by a wolf monster from another dimension." So far, I've pleaded trauma-induced amnesia... But, I'm not sure how long that story will hold." He needed to get to D.A.T.S. and work out a story. That was what they did, right? "Anyways... I'll probably be back to school soon, now that I'm out of the hospital. Can't miss too much." He'd probably drop 50 places in the standings, anyways. He couldn't afford to miss any more.

"That's good to know," the teen pulled her Digivice out, to look at it a little. "It sounds kind of like how some cell phones are attached to credit cards." Though, really, it wasn't all that important at the time being for Maia to know how to pay for things in another world. She was barely familiar with the area she lived! Adding that, now, her best friend was a little monster from a different dimension made her life even more complex. There was no way she was ever going to get used to Japan at this rate. Not that she had really put much effort into it, having generally opted to just chat with her American friends online.
Kyaromon perked up at the thought of making excuses with, "tell them it was a bar fight!" His tamer would sigh at this, and shake her head, "do you even know what a bar fight is? She was pretty sure she hadn't let him watch that much television! "Nope!" the tiny monster popped, before jumping off of her lap and running around the two tamers and twin Digimon. He really needed to burn off some energy, Maia's room probably couldn't handle much more. "I bet bar fights are cool, though! Kai's cool, so it fits!" Horrible logic.
Brushing her hair behind her ear, Maia leaned forward a bit, pulling her knees up to rest her arms on, "I think you can probably use amnesia for a long time. The mind is capable of blocking out anything that can cause serious problems pretty well." One of the things she'd learned from watching the news in America. "People will hopefully forget or just lose interest after a while, anyway." Hopefully the students would take mercy on Kai, but it would probably take some time. "When you go back, would you like to head to school with me one morning?" The trip was pretty boring on her own, after all. And, they did literally live right next to one another. "Unless you have plans before class. I know you're in a lot of clubs." Word does spread fast around school when someone gets in the news. And, while Maia wasn't sure if any clubs met before school hours, she could only figure if the boy was in so many clubs, it would be entirely plausible for him to be busy every morning.

"Yeah... That's a good way to think about it." Wish I'd thought of that analogy. Kai... was really bad at explaining these things. Had he forgotten anything? Probably. But he couldn't think of what it was.
More banter between Maia and Kyaromon. More jealousy at their easy relationship. More annoyance at himself for feeling that way. But he brushed it aside. He had to avoid thinking about things like that. As strange as they were, he liked the little critters that had adopted him. He didn't like to think that perhaps they shouldn't be there.
"Yeah, I'll... Go with that, for as long as possible." Amnesia was a convenient excuse. No one wanted to press him too hard after what was clearly a traumatic event- Though, they were terrified as to what could have caused those injuries. The wounds made it look like some massive bite... But from an animal larger than any that could go unnoticed in a city like this! And that massive spacing between the puncture marks... It was as if he had been attacked by an UMA! Which, to be fair, he pretty much had been.
Kai was taken aback by her offer of going to school together. It was just so out of the blue! "Oh... Uh, sure. I won't be doing club activities for a while with these injuries. Why?" Did she just want to make sure he wasn't so frail as to collapse on the way? That was probably it.
Shiro halfheartedly tried to play with Kyaromon... But, it was obvious that his heart wasn't in it. Very strange for the Digimon that never seemed to think about anything.

Kyaromon, while thrilled that someone wanted to play with him, could tell that Shiro wasn't being bouncy enough. Subtly, the little Digimon attempted to lead Shiro a little to the side of the tamers, perhaps to be less noticed. Once in appropriate position, the bunny-eared monster attempted to pounce the rookie, playfully. "C'mon!" he began, cheerfully, but moderately quietly, "you're acting funny. Not a good funny, either." His tamers suspicions of him were fairly accurate -- Kyaro was not as dull as he came off. Not that she was paying too much attention to him at the moment, as she was busy in conversation with Kai.
"You're a sloth," was the next thing out of the brown 'Mon's mouth, while rolling onto the grass. He didn't mean the animal, he was actually describing the lack of energy displayed by his 'hero.' This would not do. Somehow, the little alien had to help at least one of the twins! He'd want to help Kuro, too, but suspected it would be harder to sway her than the brother.
Maia would only glance at her Digimon occasionally, to make sure that he wasn't getting into anything that he shouldn't. With Shiro playing with him, she felt there was less to be concerned over. But, now the question rose, why did the tamer ask for company to school? She paused, amber eyes glancing around the park, as if an answer would just walk right up to her. "Oh." Yeah. Oh. She couldn't actually think of an answer. "I don't know. It might be nice to have some company, you know?" Feeling suddenly nervous, the girl reached to her pocket to grab her phone, but stopped before it even left her pocket. No, that would probably make Kai think that she didn't want to talk to him. So, she released the object before removing her empty hand, and shifted a little to get more comfortable.
"I mean, you don't have to go with me, if you don't want to," the tamer offered a quick way out of her request. Maia certainly didn't want to pressure him into doing anything that he didn't want to!

"Sloth? I'll show you sloth!" Shiro mewed, leaping at Kyaromon. Still... It was only halfhearted. He simply couldn't muster the energy to fight properly. He felt weak. Weak and useless. It was a way that the Digimon had never felt before in his life. He... Didn't like it. And so his mind was far, far away from the game/fight play he was having with Kyaromon. Dreams of evolution danced in his head. Dreams of being strong enough to save Kai, no matter what.
"No, no.. It's just, I wasn't expecting it, is all. I'd be happy to go to school with you." Kia didn't see why not to, after all. He... Couldn't exactly refuse without a reason, right?

The little Digimon would giggle, trying to roll away from Shiro. "Kuro, play with us, too!" he attempted to suggest, scurrying closer toward the two tamers. If he rolled too far away, Maia would scold him, so there was no point in ruining Kyaromon's attempt to fix the white monster's mood!
Maia tilted her head slightly, with a smile, before reaching to grab her sketchbook again, and shuffling about for a pencil. The stupid things always rolled away! With a small huff, she gave up and grabbed a new one from her bag. "What do you usually do outside of school? You know, aside from come here or conveniently show up when people get weird things in the mail." Still, a part of the girl felt like he was involved in that somehow. Maybe it had something to do with the close proximity of her home to one that already harbored aliens. It was hard to tell. It could always be a coincidence, though. She had to keep trying to push that to the front of her random theories of how her neighbor also owned some of these not-so-rare pets.
Adjusting the sketchpad onto her lap, she flipped back to the page that she was originally working on, taking a glance to Shiro, before working on more details of the drawing. "I don't think we've ever really had a conversation not solely about Digimon," she pointed out, biting her lower lip. "I mean, unless you only do things involving them all the time?" Eyes would flicker to glance at Kai, as she paused her scribbling. Kai didn't seem overly talkative unless forced, from what she had seen at least. "Not trying to put you on the spot. You don't have to tell me about your personal life if you don't feel like it." After all, they were only neighbors.
