Attempted Tranquility (Kai/Maia)

"What?" That... that was not where Maia had expected the subject to go. Kai's digimon seemed to have so much potential! How could he think that he was getting in the way of that? Weren't tamers partially responsible for how great their partners could be? "What makes you think that?" The blonde bit her lip, realizing that she may have asked another question that would upset her neighbor, but at least this one seemed easier to avoid, if need be.
Looking at Shiro, a clearly concerned frown formed on the girl's lips, eyes widening. This could be bad. Maybe, this was all just stupid. There was no actual way Maia was at fault for her Digimon not being a rookie! Unless, Kyaromon was trying to stay as an in-training, so it wouldn't upset her? She just wanted to protect him, after all. The tamer pulled her Digivice out of her pocket, again, trying to think of how to make it work. If she couldn't make it work... what would happen to her pet? "Kyaromon," the girl mumbled, hesitantly. She had to protect him, still. "You have to digivolve." Again, the device seemed to respond to it's owners words, lighting up without a word on the screen. Did she actually break it this time? Or, was this what the device was supposed to do?
Kyaromon glowing was probably a good enough response, as the light from the device washed over him. "Kyaromon, digivolve to..." Unlike the first time that the Digimon had changed form, instead of a hiccup and a puff of dust-bunny fluff, the form change seemed a bit more complex. The little monster's body visibly stretched, almost snakelike. Or... ferret-like? Tan fur seemed to fade, being replaced with white and purple, as his body coiled around a mysterious, bullet-like object. Great. What damage could the monster cause to her home with that? "Kudamon!" Now, this would be exciting, if the other Rookie's attack wasn't about to collide with the alien!
Thinking faster than Maia would have expected, the newly evolved Digimon jerked into the cartridge as soon as it had become fully available. "Protect!" Not that saying something like that brought the tamer any ease, watching the item glow from being hit with the attack, before slamming into the ground. A small 'pop' sounded, as Kudamon snaked himself out of the strange bullet, black tipped ears twitching. Well, it was good to know that he could avoid getting destroyed that easily. The monster's now-golden eyes were wide, and at first, his tamer didn't know if it was in terror or exciteme-- "We need to do that again!" the rookie screeched, enthusiastically, interrupting Maia's thoughts.
His tamer wasn't entirely sure what to think of the situation, looking down at the Digivice, almost blankly, before looking to Kai with the same void expression. If this had been anyone else's Digimon fighting Kyaro-no... Kudamon, Maia knew that she would be resisting the urge to gag from the stress. Instead, it seemed that her mind had just kind of shut down temporarily, providing little to no idea of how she was feeling. Being a tamer was probably not good for the teen's health. But, at least Kudamon was safe, and as energetic as ever. But, he probably couldn't use the skill that he had just employed for a little bit, to prevent his precious container from breaking into bits.
Still, the white and purple monster hesitated to do anything, as a thought crossed his mind. Since he evolved, did they have to stop playing? "Can we keep going? This is fun!" Sure, it was fun now, since he actually knew that they were fighting!
